Gold Star Hamburger

I recently visited Gold Star Humberger, and I must say, it was an amazing experience! The burger patties were incredibly flavorful, with a delightful smoky taste that really made them stand out. You can tell they were grilled to perfection. The fries were also impressive: large, crispy, and very natural-tasting. I appreciated that they didn’t come pre-salted, allowing you to season them to your own taste, unlike many other places where fries are often oversalted. The customer service was exceptional. Even though we took some time deciding on our order, the staff were extremely patient and helpful, guiding us through our options. They also offer free banana peppers, which is a nice touch, although I passed on them since I’m not a fan of spicy food. What made the experience even cooler was being able to watch our order being prepared right in front of us. It added a nice touch of transparency and excitement. And I can't forget to mention how perfectly they cut the burger, it was absolutely spot on! Overall, a fantastic spot for great burgers and excellent service. Highly recommend it!

I forgot how good their burgers taste. The combo deal is a great price for what you get. $12.59 for the combo as of 5/6/25. Had their breakfast here before, and it's also a great deal. Great staff and service.

Amazing food with really great fried zucchini (which is hard to come by) The hamburger, taco and burrito where all massive and very tasty. The window lady was sweet as well! Will definitely be coming back if I don't die tonight

In the city where I worked for 34 years, Gold Star was my go to. Great menu with lots of varieties. The menu covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast burritos are top shelf and the Bacon avocado cheese burger and the pastrami are winners. Very friendly atmosphere. This may sound goofy, but their soda fountain is always spot on. The soda tastes almost like it's out of the bottle. Better than the fast food places soda fountains. You won't be disappointed.

I become here since the 90s with my grandma. It’s one of my favorite burger joints in Glendale. … so I ate the chicken sandwich with onion rings. It was really good had good flavor and the onion rings are still the same since the 90s nothing has changed. I love it. Keep up the good work guys.

Came here for breakfast and had a sausage breakfast. It was basic but pretty good. The hash browns that they put inside were crispy. It could have used a little more cheese, but still a good burrito. There’s a good amount of parking available in a dedicated lot. There’s also a lot of seating. Bathrooms are located outside the restaurant.

Food is good, but their prices are through the roof. Way overpriced!!! You better off going to In n Out. With that said, a delicious flame grill burger or steak sandwich this is a good spot.

Great place for a quick bite to eat. I regularly order large quantities of their breakfast burritos for meetings. Happy faces and tummies when burritos are served. I enjoy coming here for consistently delicious food.

One of my favorite burger spots in Glendale. It has a classic burger joint vibe. The service is great and you are always greeted by smiling employees Food portions are massive and the prices are affordable. I always get the avocado bacon cheeseburger. 10/10 This place also has a decent sized parking spot so you won't have any problems finding parking.

Came here with a few coworkers during lunch and ordered the Family 4x4 Combo (4 burgers, 4 fries, 4 drinks) -- such a good deal for the amount of food! The burgers were classic and satisfying, the fries were hot and crispy, and everything came out super fast and fresh. However, they also have a huge comprehensive menu. I definitely want to return to try some of their breakfast items and BLT. The staff was incredibly friendly and efficient -- you can tell they take pride in the place. The manager recommended a side of chilis with the burgers and it totally hit the spot! The whole vibe is charmingly vintage, like an old-school burger diner joint. It's also very clean, which is always a big plus for me. Perfect spot if you're craving a no-frills, feel-good burger meal. Will definitely be back!

I love old-school burger joints. I wanted to like it here, but it was just okay. The burger and fries here are made well; decent. Their RANCH dressing is different. What comes to mind is a ton of Paprika with a bland finish. Whatever the ingredient that makes their ranch "pink" doesn't belong in the dressing. The onion rings were thick cut and had tough batter texture, not my favorite. It was ok. Employees were nice. The place is very clean, no AC inside on a hot day. Drive-thru available. Plenty of parking space. They take card and cash.

I wasn't expecting for this restaurant to be much but, I'm glad I was wrong. Our family decided to dine here for lunch and it was pretty damn good. I ordered the chicken salad with ranch dressing and a cheeseburger combo. The chicken was seasoned extremely well and had that charbroiled flavor which I loved! The salad was super fresh and it was delicious. The burger was also delicious, the fries were fresh and I absolutely appreciated the customer service. My food was brought to my table and it's little things like that which make me want to come back. Definitely check this place out for a great lunch or dinner!

I hadn't been here in a while, so I was happy give them a try again, as my son loves it here. This time I had their fried zucchini and the taquitos. The fried zucchini is a very generous serving, so I would say that was a good value. However, I only got two taquitos for $4.75. The zucchini comes with ranch dressing and the taquitos come with a smooth creamy guacamole-like dip. Tables were clean and the lady who took my order was nice. Over all, I think Gold Star is fine for a no-frills burger joint. My favorites are the BLT, the chorizo breakfast burrito, the fried zucchini, and the taquitos (I would prefer an additional taquito for the price).

You know the one where their deep frier has been going for multiple decades, yeah it's that type of day. Got a cheeseburger with fries and a drink combo, which was the recharge I needed before I had to hop back on the highway. Don't ever brave the 5 to the 110 to the 405 on an empty stomach.

Consistent quality burgers, fries, and ALWAYS crisp fresh sodas. Fountain sodas are never flat. Gold Star has been a staple since I was little girl! Will forever be my favorite burger. Beats the other surrounding burger places for me too. Lovely, friendly staff. Quaint yet charming seating area. There's plenty of seating. Give it a try!

The three of us skipped Sunday dinner so we were hankering for a feast of comfort food, which we hot at this womderful cafe. At $46 the meal comsisted of 2 Tostadas woth Carnitas, and one burger with Pastrami. We shared one order of fried zucchini. The gorge fest was made to order. We don't have this kind of food where we are from so appreciate what they have to offer. Generous portions abound with what we ordered. For breakfast I'm a Chorizo burrito kind of guy with the love for pork chops. We left this establishment satisfied.

Always extremely fresh, good quality food. I usually come for breakfast. Came for lunch today. Burger combo. $1.85 to upgrade to the perfect size chili cheese fries. But the Gold Star (pun intended) of the show was the burger. Extremely flavorful. OG charbroiled flavor. 10+ :)

Horrible ass experience today. I have been ordering from here for many years and next always over $50. Today I was asked if I was from a neighboring business and I said no because today I'm ordering for my family then I was told I need to make a payment now since it's over $50. I asked when did this start and she says it has always been that way it's nothing new, I told her not to lie because I have been ordering from them for over 15 years and never hand i been asked for any payment over the phone only my phone number for them to confirm the caller ID. Then she rudely tells me if I'm going to make the payment or not so I said no and she's tells me she's canceling my order. I need to find a new place for my family and work that doesn't lie and act like I'm trying to rob them.

Excellent food and service(Ana, the cashier was great ) pastrami can compare to The Hat's and the chili to Tommy's... and the burgers were great tasting...

Having lived in the area for many years, I finally decided to give this place a try. It always seems to have customers though I've never seen it packed so it can't be all that bad. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted. We quickly placed an order for their cheeseburger combo. I opted for grilled onions on the burger which also came with fries and a soda. The combos were ready in less than 5 minutes and we proceeded to chow down. The cheeseburgers came with lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese and sauce. The first bite revealed a nice char flavor reminiscent of a good, freshly grilled burger patty. The patty came to the edges of the bun (a plus) and the onions were not overly grilled so they still had a bite to them. Overall the flavors were nicely balanced. The only complaint I had was that the meat was obviously one of those frozen, pre-made patties. The quality of the meat was substandard with little pieces of chewy gristle throughout. If it made with a decent quality freshly ground 80/20 meat, this burger would have scored much higher marks. There was an abundance of fries with the order. They were on the larger side though not as big as steak fries. They were freshly fried with minimal crunch on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. I prefer my fries to be a bit more crispy so these missed the mark for me. Overall I was neither impressed nor unimpressed. It was a decent, honest burger, thus the 3 stars. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but it hit the spot at that particular moment. If I could convince them to use fresh ground beef and to cook the fries a bit longer, I'd definitely bump up my score because the place has potential.

I love supporting local, independently owned restaurants in L.A. and have passed by Gold Star for many years, always meaning to eventually check it out. Finally made it here after all this time, but the results were mediocre. The burger, while tasty, is not in my top 10 of burgers in LA. One of my pet peeves is a burger with an overtoasted bun coupled with a bun that is too big for the meat/contents. I literally had 1/2 the bun left after eating through the patty and the generous portion of lettuce and tomato. They do get a star for having real, brewed iced tea--something that is becoming a rarity in L.A. The one odd thing about the restaurant is that I visited around noon on a Saturday and as people finished on one side, a caution tape was put up and gradually extended by the staff blocking off an entire side of restaurant seating. Seemed super weird. The menu is extensive and I would like to try the pastrami and pork chops on a future visit.

Prices have gone way beyond reasonable even with claimed rising costs. The other thing is portion size and orders definitely do not look like pictures on website. Chicken breast no being used is peel and stick thin. This an order it yourself diner. Ten bucks for 2 pancakes. No can do.

The food here has always been great for me. The portion size the pricing and the customer service is the best. I always recommend Gold Star burgers to all my friends.

After landing in LA and getting picked up from the airport, my friend asked me what I was in the mood for to which I said, "Give me something affordable, yummy, and fast." He took me here and it was exactly what I had in mind. It's a pretty non-descript little building that has a throwback charm to it with a really great 90's vibe on the inside. It feels like nothing has changed when you walk in and that's part of the warmth here. My friend suggested the cheeseburger combo special so that's what I ordered and we shared some onion rings too. As far as LA goes, burgers are sacred and there are some serious heavy hitters. This burger is *not* the best I've ever had, but is it among the better ones...? Absolutely. It's simple, it's flavorful, it's beefy, and perfectly melty. The fries are the kind of thick cut fry you dream of in the best cafeterias and the onion rings were super crispy. Overall, everything was very good.

Okay, I don't know what changed but the chili cheese fries have flavor and wow, it's delicious. Like, mouthwatering. They've added TVs, so now my husband can watch the game while we eat, thank you for that! The ambience definitely stepped it up and feels more welcoming and lively. Oh! and they now serve WINGS! Perfect combo for game day. All we need now is beer on tap and we're set. Service was A1!!! Ana at the register was super sweet, attentive, patient, and informative. She had some great suggestions and really made the whole experience even better. Gold Star, you're leveling up!

Here having an early lunch, while my car is being serviced at Honda. I ordered the chili fries (small) and a water. Used the bathroom before eat. It was very clean. There is plenty of space and also clean. Menu, fit for a dinner. Family owned. Quick service. Has a drive-thru. Cashier is awesome. Working the front and windows without missing a beat. Definitely coming back. I like everything about this place.

A basic, unassuming diner style establishment with good food! The cheeseburger is simple and fresh. Which these days is a refreshing alternative to the dominance of smash burgers. I just wish it was open a little later.

Burger hit the spot. Was driving by and noticed this dinner/Burger joint had a decent amount of traffic so I I decided to check it out. Never heard of Gold Star burger before. The service was good and fast. Looks like this place has been here for a long time. Definitely would return !

Hubby wanted some hamburgers for lunch. Since we were down the street at a job site, we decided to come in. Hamburgers were delicious no complains

We stopped to grab food after passing the place on a regular base - smelling the burgers on the grill during our daily walks. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries and drink and we also got a cheeseburger combo. Both totaled $33 - way over priced! The cashier was not friendly and when we asked what's the popular item - she struggled to give us a suggestion. Once we paid I asked en employee for napkins to clean our dirty table. She was not friendly at all and asked why we needed the napkins. When I mentioned the dirty table, she sighed and stomped to our area and only wiped the dirty spots. My cheeseburger was very basic but the bacon cheeseburger had a sour taste - mind you it's the same burger only with the added bacon. We couldn't figure out the weird taste until we flipped it over and noticed a grey, mold looking area on the bun. We couldn't finish our food because we feared it would make us sick. Save yourself a trip - go somewhere else for cheaper and better quality food!

Great place to get a good ol' classic cheeseburger. It reminds me of road tripping and stopping for a burger along the way...it's almost nostalgic? The people who work there are always friendly and service is prompt. I usually get a cheeseburger and fries (the fries are the big steak fries). I got a corn dog one time and it was so good...the batter actually tasted like cornbread. Fresh and hot. Love this spot!

Wasn't expecting anything and ended up being disappointed. Instead of getting a nicely cooked patty with all the fixings, the avocado burger I get was cold, barely warm enough to be considered edible. The vegetables and avocado were somehow still fresh. The fries were done well. But the patty looked like a repurposed Carl's Jr. patty with a cheese slapped on top. If I wanted a Carl's Jr. burger, I'd go there. You got five workers in the kitchen and none of were actually working? How does that happen. Credit where due, good service, and everything was great.. except for the burger itself. :/

I always go here! The burgers and delicious and there pretty big burgers. Their pancakes, french toast, burritos are also pretty big. I love the fries very delicious! They always have good service and the employees are always super nice! Great service. 5 out of 5.

I was in the mood for a charbroiled hamburger and I found a gem at Gold Star Hamburgers. An unassuming restaurant on Brand that's been there for years. I just got the cheeseburger and fries; nothing too fancy. But it hit the spot!

Food is okay. The WOMEN working behind the counter/register have really bad attitudes. I've gone here a handful of times and I just can't handle their rudeness. Maybe if they hire nicer employees I'll go back.

The best Chorizo egg, cheese & bean burrito. Also comes with potatoes but I like it without the potatoes! The service is good & the ambiance is (who cares) the Chorizo burrito with egg & cheese is all that matters! I highly recommend you try it!!!

Usually pop in for lunch , today I had the Pastrami Sandwich combo with Zucchini fries and a Drink $21 and some change for the whole deal. The price is right for Pastrami , but it's a dent in the lunch fund. I would say if you want a well done pastrami sandwich not to over top with flavor so you can continue your work day, this is it. The Zucchini fries were good and they give a good amount enough to share with a friend or co worker if that works out. They got fountain sodas, standard issue. It is heavy food get that but again it seems to burn clean enough in my book to get right back to work. Service was great one of the workers had a playful sassy attitude, it was absolutely charming if you can handle some back and forth, it's a good volley, adds to the ambiance.

Horrible first time experience Food wasn't good at all service was horrible specially the manager or owner he was rude as hell , slamming my change on the counter and mumbling god knows what, making a very horrible ambiance for me and a couple of colleges of mine, I never went back again and I would not recommend this place, thank you for taking the time to read this post, I hope it helps.

Been coming here since I was a child. Food is always amazing. Burgers are always cooked to perfection. Everyone is always so nice. The restaurant is always so clean.

Gotta give them a little more credit! I recently ordered their bacon breakfast burrito and it was huge! And came with plenty of crispy bacon! Mega plus. It also came with hash browns, egg, cheese, and salsa. For under $10 this bacon burrito is for sure a go to!

Food was excellent. Courteous staff. Restaurant was clean, well ventilated with the best music they always play. Unfortunately for me, I got there 20 minutes before closing time, so I was given a to-go order only. Next time, I'll make it in earlier to dine in since they have close early, especially on Sundays

Food was okay but pricey. Woman at the drive through window was rude and acted like she didn't want to work. Very poor customer service and she did not even say thank you. I definitely won't be coming back here.

I stopped in today because I was charging my E car. The restaurant is clean and well kept. The service was prompt. I made the mistake of ordering the chilli omelet because it was different.... The chilli was really poor quality and the overall dish was disappointing. I'm feeling like this may not be the best spot for breakfast but their burgers seem good....

I really like Gold Star, it seems like a step up from the Troy's Drive In, though I will admit that Troy's has better fries than Gold Star. I love the extensive menu, and that I can channel my 7 year old self and get a corn dog here. Fast, tasty, and definitely not healthy, when you're looking for hot greasy deliciousness, Gold Star is definitely where you should come.

I have enjoyed many meals at Gold Star, or as I call it, "the Forest Lawn Burger Shack' due to its proximity to the famous burial ground. The wonderful smell of grilled meats is intoxicating. Their menu is extensive. The food: delicious and cooked to order. The staff is friendly and efficient and always busy. Their dining room is large, with big windows to let in the sun. As for being clean- the interior is immaculate as are the restrooms. During slow periods, it is also a great place to spread out and catch up on writing Yelp reviews. Please note GS Does Not offer WiFi. My favorite thing about Gold Stat is this: they have self serve fresh brewed tea and their ice machine dispenses crunchy ice. No wonder Forest Lawn is so close. Gold Star is a bit of Heaven.

Yea they don't sabo how to make a tuna "melt". It basically was cold ass tuna with cold ass cheese. I returned the sandwich and the little line cook got all bothered and was talking smack. I sabo español Napoleon! Zucchini fries were superb thou. They did make me another sandwich but bad customer service definitely puts a bad taste in your mouth! First and last.

Whats there to SAY!? Everything is delicious... i always end up getting a steak sandwich or a delicious Avocado cheeseburger... and NO DOUBT they have the worlds best ZUCCINI.... God bless this establishment
