Houston's Restaurant & Bar Openings 2024

"A third Gold Tooth Tony’s is now open in Bellaire. Like its sister locations, this outpost of the Detroit-style pizza joint has a menu of garlic knots, wings, and unique pies with toppings like roasted fig, chevre, and hot honey. There are still straightforward pizzas like pepperoni, and the option to build your own pie." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

I’ve been to this location multiple times for to go orders. They have a pretty good Detroit style pizza. Unfortunately, a lot of times I’ve gone there, They got my order wrong. Mostly on occasion where I’ve asked for sauce on the side and they put sauce on the pizza regardless. It took a few times for us to get that right. And then the first time they did get it right they gave me the wrong pizza! And now unfortunately, they appear to have completely changed their wings! They used to bug and great quality. Now they are tiny and complete crap. For what they charge the wings are completely unacceptable. And if you do have a problem or mistake, there’s really no point in letting them know because they don’t seem to tell anyone or offer any compensation. I’m done with this place!

Google
We got the Detroit Supreme and wow… I’m officially obsessed. The crust was perfectly crispy with those caramelized cheese edges, the inside was soft and fluffy, and the toppings were stacked just right. Every bite was saucy, cheesy, and full of flavor. This pizza doesn’t just live up to the name—it is the Supreme ruler of pizzas. Can’t wait to come back for round two!

Google
The staff here was so welcoming and friendly! They were able to help provide us recommendations as first timers. We got the Meat Lovers Detroit Style, Piggy (with figs, proscuitto, etc) in Houston (thin crust) style, and Garlic Knots. Because of the oven, the crusts on both pizzas were incredibly crisp and able to hold the weight of the toppings well without getting soggy or breaking. The marinara was rich, a bit on the sweeter side, but still very satisfying. The garlic knots came with an included marinara cup. We also got their ranch, which was delicious for dipping. The knots were fresh and very buttery and garlic-y. They had 80s music playing, Ghostbusters 2 streaming, and it felt like you expected to walk around the corner and see some kids on a pinball machine like it was 1987. There were only a few tables that are smaller high tops, but we were still comfortable. Highly recommend and will continue to come back!

Google
OMG!! We stepped out of our comfort zone and tried the Piggy and Hunger Force pizzas for the first time. Both were seriously delish but the Piggy is now my new fave. The flavors of the fig, cheese, slight hot honey glaze and pancetta were sooo divine. You gotta try it. I'm hooked.

Google
Gold Tooth Tony's never misses! My husband and I saw this restaurant on Eat Like a Local and had to try it. We tried the Heights location first and ordered the Detroit style Detroit Supreme and didn't make it out the door to take home. We have been hooked ever since. We go to the Heights and Bellaire locations and again...it never misses! We don't mind driving from Mo City to get this pizza...definitely worth it. The customer service is great too! I would have posted the whole pizza but was ready to get to it!

Google
Small little place with great service and vibe. Elijah gave some great recommendations, we love the Detroit style pizza had an airy crust with just the right amount of crunch. The Brussels sprouts and garlic knots are a must. The wings had a good garlic parm flavor but it was a little too salty for us. Overall great experience and we will return

Google
This is the absolute worst pizza I have ever received my entire life. I don’t even know how making a pizza can go this wrong. I asked for extra sauce I don’t believe it had any sauce at all.. I literally tried one slice and fed the rest of the pizza to stray dogs at the gas station.. . the cheese looked like it was curdling from so much grease, the grease was dripping all over the plate, the box filled with grease.. I have no idea what went wrong here.. the staff was nice though, service was quick, but the end result was.. well you can see the pic

Google
Delicious Detroit style pizza made with real WI brick cheese. Wonderfully crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. I’m from New Haven and have spent a lot of time in NYC and Detroit, so I know good pizza, and THIS is good pizza. Really fun, engaging staff, casual atmosphere great for families or even solo diners like me. Abundant safe and free off street parking. Great bottled soda options for drinks. A+!

Yelp
A little slow but not mean or rude. Was just slower than expected. It might have been because they had opened up not too long after we got there. Really like the store. They play (unedited) music, which is great if you like that but not if you do not prefer listening to rap. I love rap and was rapping along with the songs. Something I thought was really cool was that they changed the music when an older man brought his grandson in. Initially, they kept playing the music BUT they changed the song to Michael Jackson. Got some cool points with me on that one even though I was enjoying Kendrick Lamar. Food was really good. Garlic bread was a miss though we ended up with garlic knots as well because I did not want cheese on it. So, we got an order of garlic knots because the worker said they were better. And, they were good. Very garlicy and a lot of butter. It is a lot of flavor. We did an injustice of taking it home and that allowed the bread to sit in the butter for too long but I still ate half (there might be like 14 of these huge things in one order). The wings are actual wings. Not like going to an actual wing spot to get wings but I would say that they are better than the majority of wings you get at pizza joints. Buffalo style has a lot of kick to it. Big negative is that ranch is $2.00 a pop. The pizza itself is really good. I enjoy a nice New York thin crust pizza but this thick crust pizza is really good. My wife is more picky than I am and she said it was really good. The pizza ain't that big (8 by 10) but it is very heavy to eat. If you are used to eating a small pizza then this one might be too much. They pack on the toppings and the crust is thick. You will be full if you eat one by yourself. Overall, will be back again. Won't be ordering out though so the garlic knots hit even more.

Yelp
Just moved from AZ, Scottsdale which is pizza heaven and Gold Tooth is the best pizza I have had in Houston. I love Detroit style but the Houston style is amazing! Ordered the Houston marg add pancetta and you will not be disappointed! Jose and the team are great! I highly recommend, plus the Gen Tso wings....all theit wings are amazing! Thank you

Yelp
I have had a Detroit pizza before so this one comes kinda of close to an original for me. The sauce is on the sweeter side. I really enjoy that they have halal pepperonis because i can't eat the regular ones. There's an open kitchen so it's nice to watch how they are making the pizzas. The Detroit one is better than the Houston one imo but that's because i prefer a little more crunch! i can't wait to circle back for another slice of that Detroit Pizza!

Yelp
This place was great ! Dump the guy keep the place. The pizza was so well made. The cheese on both was abundant but not overwhelming and the crust was golden and crispy as always appreciated. The service was pretty quick. And I loved that they have the upstairs area that was having an open mic event.

Yelp
First time trying gold tooth tonys! The inside space was pretty small so next time i would probably get to go. The cashier was very nice and explained the menu to us. My mom and i built our own. We each got 4 toppings and the pizzas were very good and filling. Lots of flavor! The only thing i would say is its pretty pricey for a pizza but i would go back again when im craving a speciality pizza.

Yelp
First time trying this place, did not want to start with the Detroit style first. Wanted to start with the traditional pepperoni, pizza, quality flavor, cheese, pepperoni absolutely fantastic. A little annoying you have to pay the 3% for the credit card fee, and I would not get the ranch again for two dollars. Overall, very good Pizza would highly recommend.

Yelp
I am a pizza fiend. Gold Tooth Tony's is FANTASTIC pizza. We went on a Friday night after another attempted stop ended up being a bust. Enter Gold Tooth Tony's. My good friend had recommended GTT as a pizza spot to try about six months prior and I just had not made it a priority - clearly this was a significant error in judgment. Yes, we waited a significant amount of time after placing our order. But for pizza this good, this fresh, and clearly made right in front of your eyes, the wait is definitely worth it. They also accommodated a unique customization which, as vegetarians with less options, we deeply appreciated. If you appreciate a Detroit style pizza, look no further. GTT is an affordable Detroit style pizza, in a casual spot. The decor is super fun (I wish I had taken more pictures). I will definitely be coming again and look forward to more days with a belly full of delicious Detroit style pizza.

Yelp
Was highly recommended by my cousin and her kids and I can 100% understand why. The pizza here is incredible. Our mouths were watering just opening the boxes and seeing how delicious it all looked. The garlic knots were crispy yet doughy and were so satisfying to pull apart. The rectangular Detroit style Margherita pizza had a molten gooey cheesy deep dish base compared to the circular Houston style pizza which was thinner and had more of a crisp to it. The flavor of each item was absolute perfection.

Yelp
I'd describe Good Tooth Tony with one word: Character. I know it sounds odd to use that to describe what you might think is a just another pizza place, but that's exactly why I use it. When you walk in you get a vibe that's not usual. From the music, to the way the staff speaks respectfully, but realistically to you, this place has a vibe that is its own. Then there's the food. Having tried and previously reviewed another "Detroit-style" pizza place just a few months ago, I had a pretty fresh memory of how it tasted. GTT blew this out of the water. They have fresh ingredients. How fresh you ask? When was the last time you ordered garlic parmesan wings and you could actually see the shredded parmesan? You can call out the tomatoes in the pasta sauce? THAT fresh. Let's go back to the wings. It's a new thing that I've been eating more of lately and sadly, GTT may have spoiled me on that. The wings were flavorful and you don't need sauce because they aren't overcooked/fried. The pizza menu is customizable to your needs. For instance, I wanted the Detroit Supreme but I don't eat pork so I was able to switch out the sausage on my pizza to chicken. We had a really cool moment when we visited because it was the night the Texans played the Lions - we were sitting chatting with the staff and owner, Tony, and NBC did a feature on the restaurant during the game. It was so cool to see the excitement of the staff and we cheered along with them as we watched the clip. I hope it brings them more business but I also hope you bring them business. This is a good place and they have a couple of places throughout H-town so definitely go out and support. They are committed to bringing great food. If you want to try more, you can share. If you want to have leftovers to keep the good vibe going, order a pizza and wings and enjoy it later. Speaking from experience, it holds well for a few days.

Yelp
I told my friend "Tony's tooth is gold because he's a scammer!!! " terrible value for the price. The pizzas are so small you can use your hand for comparison for the same price as an extra large somewhere else. To make matters worse, on doordash they have a BOGO saying you are buying $70 worth of pizza for $35 when the single pizza only cost $18 so they are basically telling you a 4x markup for paying for two pizzas full price. The sauce and crust are tasty but it has this smell that just does not make me want to eat it. I saw a post raving over the garlic Parmesan chicken wings and the chicken is so lightly cooked it literally looks like it's probably still raw inside but im too afraid to touch it. Just very disappointed in this whole experience and I had been wanting to try this place for a long time and finally treated myself tonight and now I barely have dinner. Update: I called to complain about the wings. They said they poach them. I've never heard of that as a chosen method for chicken wings. Like uhhhhhh no thanks

Yelp
Ordered the donuts this time. Bad decision. They are plain garlic knots with cinnamon sugar. Also the cream cheese frosting was not sweet and seemed thinned out. The donuts were hard as a rock. The pizza was lacking toppings. My husband thought he received the wrong order. I think this place may no longer be as good as they were when they first opened.
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
Husband had this place on a list of places to try so we ventured to that side of town. We were the only ones dining in so we got to hear all the workers convos lol music was loud, customer service was good. Guys were friendly! I even jumped in on their convo when they couldn't think of a characters name from Toy Story. We ordered the Mac Balls and the Detroit supreme. Mac balls were huge! The order came with two and after I had my 1 I wasn't sure I needed to eat anything else. The pizza was saucy! And had a little kick to it. I will say, that style of pizza sort of takes away the flavors of the toppings since it's smothered in pizza sauce so maybe that style isn't my fave. We also had Tiramisu from that GTT sells there by Eat My Pastry. Delicious! All the nice things aside, I started to feel bad at the table once I was done eating and puked in the parking lot. My husband didn't get sick from anything and we ate all the same things so I'm hoping it wasn't caused by this place.

Jody B.

Yelp
Our friends picked up two pizzas for us and we met them at their house for games. Pros: We got a Houston crust and a Detroit crust. Both were good. Not the most amazing pizzas ever but good. Ordering was very easy online and the pizzas were ready fast. Cons: we got two flavors and our friends got two different flavors. We tried all of them and somehow they all tasted almost the same.
google avatar

Greg L.

Yelp
Both the Detroit style and regular pizza have great flavor and people working there super nice. They apparently make some of the toppings themselves so pizza has its own flavors all in good ways.
google avatar

Tom C.

Yelp
I had been looking forward to trying their pizza for a good while now. A couple of nights ago, we finally stopped in. It just wasn't that good. So disappointing. We waited about 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Must be good right? No, not at all. Piss-poor selection of beer and wine. I saw a few health code violations by the staff. The carnivore Detroit style pizza - couldn't taste the meats because they were all scorched to a crisp. Sauce was awful. Cheese and crust quite good. Chicky Parm sandwich was like warmed up hospital food. Tater tots were good, but who cares? I would rather eat dinner at a Panera Bread. Don't bother with this place. It's a bunch of social media hype, dumb people, and BS. 3.2
google avatar

Leslie K.

Yelp
Probably not equivalent to a large pan pizza, but it is hardy and filling for its size. If you tell them the pizza is for kids, you can omit or provide the basil/red pepper flakes on the side. My son said he didn't like the pizza, he loved it.
google avatar

Ryan G.

Yelp
Hey it was good, the toppings, sauce, and crust was we had the Detroit supreme and it did not disappoint. At first glance I was thinking oh crap this is small for 2 people with 4 slices. But nope it was perfect we'll be back.
google avatar

Lisa J.

Yelp
Delicious!! Had their Hunger Force, 181 Heights, and the Griz. All were flavorful, soft on the inside but crunchy on the outside. I would totally come back to try their other pizzas
google avatar

Kiah B.

Yelp
First time here and the guy at the front was super helpful and patient while I chose. Good music played while I waited. Everyone was really kind and the food was great! I got the garlic Parmesan wings and the pizza with ham, pineapple and honey. I love supporting local, I'll be back!
google avatar

Tim C.

Yelp
Detroit style pizza and it's very good. I gnoshed half of a square pan pizza, my goal was to eat a quarter section but the taste got in the way....too good to quit. My wife enjoyed a garden salad wit' air fried lightly battered chicken. We both had enough leftovers for tonight's meal. This is more of a pickup or delivery place but they do have a few tables. Friendly people and great food. We'll be back.
google avatar

Kori W.

Yelp
So yeah it's true the amount of food you get for the price is small BUT the pizza is really good. I got the pepperoni - their pepperoni tastes better than dominos. I foolishly only bought one pizza thinking it would be enough for 4 people but 1 pizza only has 4 slices. The service is warm and friendly and the place has character (has a few places to sit and good amount of parking.) I will definitely return but i will buy 2 pizzas next time and wait for a cool seasonal flavor (seems like they have one every month).
google avatar

Cynthia M.

Yelp
Great pizza and really friendly workers! I had a random craving for Detroit pizza, and ended up going to this place twice in a month. Love the texture of the crust, and the ingredients were tasty. I wasn't a fan of the pizza tater tots though. It was too for me
google avatar

Rob M.

Yelp
These guys know what they're doing. The pizza is excellent. The ingredients are top shelf, and the customer service is proper.
google avatar

Brandon T.

Yelp
The pizza is delicious. Hands down, some of the best around here. My issue(s) come from me calling and being put on hold while I listened to them chat for 7 mins before hanging up and ordering online. I had some questions that didn't get answered. Nonetheless, I paid for two sides of ranch, $4 total, and did not get either one of them when I picked up the food. Got home and realized it was not there. Only $4 but still... The cinnamon knots were hard as a rock. I dropped one on the counter and the top and side crumbled off like glass, removing the cinnamon flavor. All but two (2) of the knots were too hard to enjoy. Which is unfortunate because those two were really good.
google avatar

Alexa C.

Yelp
Soo good! the best pizza in Houston hands down! Staff at this location is also great!!
google avatar

Jesse M.

Yelp
Shhhhhh, I order from Gold Tooth Tony's almost every Friday! My favorite - "The Pep" (both round and square). This pizza, the sauce, the crisp edges of the pepperoni, it's the chef's kiss!
google avatar

Nia W.

Yelp
Absolutely AMAZING pizza. Just wow Amazing fresh flavor, crispy warm crust, and the cheese omg . GOD SENT! The staff was absolutely amazing here as well!
google avatar

Crystal John K.

Yelp
Overpriced pizza with long wait times. They messed up our order and had to re-make it. Told them don't make it spicy and they made it spicy.
google avatar

Bruce F.

Yelp
We had 1 pizza and it was good , the taste the crust the ingredients. Will return and try others
google avatar

Kennesin C.

Yelp
Service was amazing upon entry, shout out to Eli who made our experience a 10/10 wayy before we had our food! The ambiance was great! We ordered the pizza tots, and 2 deep dish pizzas. Also the pesto and the sirano ranch is 10/10! Everything was super good and will definitely be back to the BELLAIRE LOCATION!!
google avatar

Kingsley C.

Yelp
Houston finally has an A1 pizza joint. I ordered a custom pepperoni and mushroom pizza via Uber eats It was . Easily the best pizza I've had down here and competes with some of the pizzas I've had when I lived in NYC/NJ. Check em out.!
google avatar

Roger A.

Yelp
Best pizza in town. Beef pepperoni is the best! Highly recommended. Friendly staff and great service! Ambiance is great!
google avatar

Ryan H.

Yelp
Detroit style pizza so good, you will forget that Jimmy Hoffa disappeared from there. Motor on over to one of their locations.

MICHAEL P.

Yelp
GTT is my favorite pizza place in town for fancy pizza. To me, it's like the business has chosen to be high quality above all else, visible in flavor, ingredients, and appearance. The Eat My Pastry desserts are also really good. Favs are supreme, hunger force, and there once was a mushroom "pizza of the month" called "mushy love."

Ann F.

Yelp
Great pizza! We have ordered from the Bellaire location twice: the first time was delivered by DoorDash, and the second time, I picked up our order in person. This pizza is absolutely delicious! My latest order included extra brick cheese, mushrooms, and meatballs. You definitely need to try their meatballs--they are so delicious! My only criticism is that the portions are small. For example, an 8x10 Detroit pizza (which has four squares) is not enough to feed a family of four, especially if you have boys! Trust me, after enjoying your first bite, you'll want another piece of pizza!
google avatar

Rio A.

Yelp
-Pizza and pepperoni was a little bit too burnt for me . -The staff was eating in the food prep area with no hair restraints -I immediately had to stop down the street to go to the bathroom after I left .
google avatar

George B.

Yelp
Ordered one pizza at the suggestion of my adult children for pick up at the Bellaire location. So the quality of the pizza was very good, but for $23 I was expecting something bigger than what is in my opinion about the size of a Pizza Hut personal pan pizza. The size was so small the kids ordered a second pizza and a salad that was not great. I wouldn't order here again.

James C.

Yelp
Pizza was $22 after tax. It's a small pizza. Tiny Tony. There's a reason no one wants to live in Detroit, this is one of the many reasons. Should've been $10.81. The food wasn't anything better than any other pizza, the sauce honestly wasn't anything good. For $22 I would expect a large pizza with several toppings not a small pathetic pizza. What a ripoff!

Ken L.

Yelp
Just tried Tony's for the first time on recommendation. Detroit style is awesome'! The buffalo wings were great!
google avatar

Tami O.

Yelp
Love this pizza! The Houston round & the Detroit style are delicious. Cheap beer & wine with friendly service. We are regulars now.
google avatar

Joyce A.

Yelp
The pizzas look small but are filling. The marg and 181 are amazing with hot honey. It may not be great for kids who can't handle spice, as even the pep had some hidden heat. The mac balls were pretty good.
google avatar

Pita Z.

Yelp
First time visit but not the last ;) ordered the meatball and whipped ricotta pizza. Lovely, airy thick crust with crispy edges. So yummy Also ordered the garlic parmesan wings, because I love all things garlic. Thank you Yelpers who mentioned these wings definitely have real crushed garlic and parmesan cheese. Juicy, garlicky goodness, did not disappoint. The ingredients are quality and food delicious. Already making plans for my next visit.
google avatar

Danny S.

Yelp
Tried the wings, a BYO pizza, chicken parm, and Tony's hero. Everything was awesome! Staff is super chill and helpful. Definitely a diamond in the rough.

Senior 5.

Yelp
Amazing service felt like they actually cared about your experience awesome hype man at the register 10/10 would recommend also very good pizza quality it takes time but it's worth it , would definitely come back .

Mark M.

Yelp
Have been a few times since they've opened a location here. Pizza is always fantastic, and so are the garlic bread / garlic knots. The music there and movies on the TV make it a chill place to go eat with friends in the evening. The staff is very personable, fun to talk to, and remember who you are.

Malena C.

Yelp
We just left and my grandma said: "This is the best pizza I've ever had!" Staff was absolutely incredible and super sweet which is so rare these days. You can tell they really believe in the food they're making and it shows. The pizza was saucy and thick and just the right amount of crispy on the edges. I'm so happy we finally have a pizza place this level on this side of town. Will definitely be back for the hospitality and amazing food.

Jason S.

Yelp
We picked up The Marg - Detroit Style, Garlic bread, and a Caesar Salad. Everything was delicious. Be aware that one pizza is likely for 2 people max. It seemed a little small for the price but it was high quality and filling. Unfortunately there are no leftovers but we'll come back soon.
google avatar

Valentina G.

Yelp
I am not a pizza lover, and normally is because of the sauce, but I have to say, this is by far, the best marinara sauce I have tried. Not tangy, perfect sweetness. Add to that the perfectly cooked dough, crispy on the edges, and you have a fantastic pizza!!!!
