Wilhelm Flailer (Houston Nightowl)

This is the second location I have eaten from, the first being in the Heights District. This proves to me CONSISTENCY is something this business does just as effortlessly as providing great pizza for the greater Houston area, and dispels the myth that some locations in swankier areas are superior.
This location is in the heart of the Bellaire District, just shy of the Medical Center proper.
As a person that has tried a very large cross-section of pizza joints with no prejudice, this chain shows that they hold their own in such a large market. They do this by doing what all chains should strive for: superior and locally sourced ingredients, simplicity, consistency, customer service, and food industry ethics.
This location is a bit larger than its Heights counterpart with very cool neon graphics along the back wall, not offensive or too bright, its ambiance is exactly what you want in a low-key eatery.
Plenty of parking, in a safe area, where your car is visible from the establishment if you tend to worry, but as long as you aren’t stupid you should be fine.
If you listen to google maps it will try to take you behind the business in a very weird coordinated farce, but it is in that odd offshoot where Bellaire converges into the bus station so you might have to pop a u-turn or turn into the shopping center very early if you are coming from 610.
If you’re on the fence it’s a great place to eat and take this as a sign to have it for yourself, significant other, or family at large tonight. The pizza is Detroit style which means it’s kinda like a deep dish sorta and in a square shape instead of the pie, but they do offer the Houston pie which is just the usual 3.14 shape, which only comes in 12” so if you’re a bigger eater or just gluttonous grab two if ya want leftovers. I recommend the garlic sauce to dip it’s really good.
Remember to always patronize smaller businesses instead of larger corporate chains, not being pretentious it just creates a better gastro landscape with interesting choices instead of the usual soulless, processed, garbage w/ a slick corporate smile. -W
