Located in a mini-mall strip this cute restaurant definitely is a must visit. The interior definitely needs an update or deep clean. But the food is great! For the price you pay you get family size portions. A true Chinese restaurant where sharing dishes is the culture. The staff are very friendly and attentive. This is a place that I will be visiting again and has become one of my top Chinese restaurants in the Vancouver area. Highly recommend visiting or even takeout!

Golden City is a Hazel Dell neighborhood Chinese restaurant. The service was friendly and the food came out hot and fresh. The price is good especially since the portions are very generous! They were busy with lots of carry out orders and almost all seats filled on the evening we went.

I ordered Pot Stickers (6) for $7.75, Crispy Spring Rolls (2) for $2.75, and the Golden City Combination Fried Rice, which includes shrimp, chicken, and pork, for $7.75. The pot stickers were huge, packed with flavorful meat, likely pork, and even better with the pot sticker sauce. The spring rolls were perfectly crispy, filled with veggies, and complemented by the sweet & sour dip. The Golden City Combination Fried Rice was tasty, with a surprising amount of shrimp for the price. My only minor complaint is that it could’ve used just a pinch more MSG (the "cocaine of cooking," as Uncle Roger says). Including a canned Coke, the total bill came to $21.97—a great deal in today’s tough economy. Overall, 4 out of 5 stars! I highly recommend Golden City!

If you love a good Ole fashion Chinese restaurant, this is your spot. We stopped in for dinner one night cause we wanted to try a new place. Everything we ordered was good and the lo mein is my favorite in town. We also enjoy their skillet dishes.

My wife wanted Chinese for dinner, and House of Beijing was closed, so we tried this place. The food was awful. The fried rice is just plain white rice with frozen vegetables mixed in. The honey chicken came as a container of dry, fried chicken chunks, and a container of what tasted and looked like mayonnaise. Everything was flavorless. Nothing was fresh. Even the crab puffs sucked. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Panda Express would have been more satisfying. This is the first time in my life that I won't be saving the leftovers.

Found this piece of steel wool in my Golden City Beef lunch combo. I understand getting the food out quickly, but something like this can really hurt someone.

Came in to order a togo order and was meet with a very unpleasant and unfriendly attitude. Barley wanting to speak to me and just poor attitude all around. If someone needs you to sign a receipt then they usually say that and not just put the receipt on the counter and not say anything. I kindly asked another staff member what that ladies name was and she said she doesn't know because they only use Chinese names..... It's truly unfortunate because we have a large family and have been ordering from here for the past couple months and never had an issue. I've recommended this place to multiple families as well as my place of work and have done multiple office orders.Food is great but the customer service was poor and I really didn't feel welcome today and will not be coming back.

I hate to write this because it will be hard to find a table from now on. Love this place. I've had a several of the lunch items and all were superb but the S&S pork, which was overcooked. Maybe an off day because all there other battered items are delish. Took the wife who is so picky and it was a hit for her. Definitely eating here again, and again. Lunch menu is 7 days a week. Ala cart, but reasonably priced. $30 full service for what you see in my pic.

This little hole-in-the-wall restaurant has very good food, large portions, and decent prices. It is well-known to some, but really a hidden gem in Hazel Dell. The service can be slow and we always have to ask for chopsticks, napkins, etc, but it's worth it

I'm gonna preface this by saying I'm a Chinese food snob. Since I've moved to the PNW I've been really missing good Chinese food. There's a weird trend with hot and sour soup having ketchup added. Things have just tasted off. I get needing to cater to the demographic but no. Lol. I grew up in an area that was 90%+ Asian. I cook authentic Asian dishes all the time. So-yeah...here we go! I've tried this place a couple times. My family likes the potstickers and egg rolls. We try different dishes in addition to those apps each time we've ordered. The hot and sour soup is one of the better ones I've tried in the area. There is no ketchup (yay!). But it's not spicy or enough vinegar for my taste. I tried the pork and cabbage spicy soup and it was not spicy at all. It was delicious but I really wanted the spicy. I think they might have forgotten to add the chilis/chili oil to the container. it tasted more like wonton broth. The green beans are fresh and loaded with garlic. I've also ordered king pow chicken. It was ample which I appreciate. But it had more sugar than spice. I try to limit my sugar intake so I will avoid it. But it was still pretty good flavor over all. For the area this has been much better experience for take out chinese. We will definitely try more dishes.

Great food and great staff except don't ask for paper wrapped chicken it seems to irritate them as it is no longer available yet it is on the menu. Dining room is clean it's old but they do a nice job of keeping things tidy at the table. Some boxes on the floor in dining room could be moved but no big red flags. My food quality and taste are great. Food value is really impressive as well. Will keep going to this location for sure

We went here based on the yelp reviews. The restaurant is tucked into a strip mall in a not so great neighborhood of Vancouver. We ordered combination fried rice, fried shrimp, crab puffs. Snow pea shrimp and sweet & sour chicken. The food wasn't good. The sweet and sour chicken and the fried shrimp were coated in large amounts of greasy batter, hardly any chicken in the greasy mess. The crab puffs are not the creamy cream cheese that everyone usually loves, it's made with some other cheese, also not good. The fried rice was supposed to have shrimp, chicken, and pork, it only had shrimp and chicken, it also was lacking flavor. The snow pea shrimp was edible but just not great. And..... EVERYTHING was loaded with MSG!!! We won't be back.....there are so many better options.

This place is an absolute go to. You will not be disappointed. I've eaten here at least 10 times. Great lo mein. I've tried at least half the chicken dishes, all very good.

I'm very picky about Chinese food. But this restaurant reminds me of the food I would eat with my family growing up. It's a small restaurant near other businesses but there is always a place to park. They greet you as soon as you enter and ask if you are eating in or if you placed an order. I've never had a complaint about how friendly they are. And I have been a repeat customer for over 12 years. I love eating here. Great portions with your order.

Our family had an absolutely delicious meal here. Service was fast and friendly, prices were excellent. And the best fortune cookies! Highly recommend.

This place just shot up to my number 1 Chinese place in da Couv! Food was a 5 outta 5! Portions are American sized, and the food had so much flavor. If you dine in know it's a hole in the wall, with very tight quarters but it honestly adds to the charm of this place. Service is also kind and they work hard to provide.

The BEST Chinese food we've had since moving to the PNW almost 2 decades ago. Anytime someone tells me to try their favorite Chinese restaurant I am ultimately always disappointed. It's usually food that's over breaded, or soggy, or sat around all day. I grew up in a place filled with all sorts of wonderful Asian cuisines made with fresh, quality ingredients, and prepared to order. What I grew up eating was what you would be served in someone's family home. It's hot, it's fresh and it's made with pride and love. So when I tried to find a quality Chinese restaurant up here it was nothing but disappointment over and over. Whether it was in Portland, Seattle or Vancouver. My whole life, Chinese was one of my favorite cuisines, until I moved to the PNW. It was so gross that I just didn't try anymore... UNTIL I tried Golden City!! It's AMAZING! You can tell they truly care about the quality of food they serve! None of those ridiculously disgusting, thickly breaded, soggy egg rolls or questionable meats that have clearly sat around for hours. This family owned and run restaurant is WONDERFUL and the people that run it are kind and caring. It's one of those hole-in-the-wall restaurants that once you try it you think : "wow, I found a gem!" The restaurant is small but cozy. The food is always fresh, never heavily breaded, the meats are good cuts and not the scraps. Everything about Golden City is like what I knew growing up. It's like you are a guest in someone's home and they want you to feel warm and welcomed. Enjoy your meal and leave with a full belly and a happy heart. Golden City is a must try! You will not be sorry! Our favorites are the honey chicken, orange chicken, kung-pao chicken, Mongolian beef and sesame beef. OH and their crab puffs are amazing!

We love Golden City! I would say this is definitely a hidden gem in the area. Posted up in an unassuming strip mall; If you drive by too quick, you'll miss it. Do not be deterred by the location. The food is great and the prices are even better. The servers are always very kind and treat you like family on each visit. Head over and give this place a shot. I think you'll love it.

Three stars for the delicious food. They are the best American Chinese food in Vancouver. However, the staff is less than friendly. They recently tried to nickel and dime me for packets of soy sauce. I ordered $40 worth of food to go, gave a tip, then asked for soy sauce. She gave me 1 packet. I asked for more and she said only 1 packet per order. I laughed thinking she was joking but she was serious. She wanted to charge me 35 cents per packet. I refused. If I had come in and sat down at the table are they going to charge me 35 cents per pour of soy sauce? Ridiculous. Laughable business practice.

If you want consistently good food at a great price, then you've found your go to place. The pot stickers are AWSOME. Not your typical tiny overcooked ones! These are big flavorful and well worth ordering. My daughter, my son and I always love ordering in/out. Just wish they were open later some times. They always have great specials as well :) Service is always friendly. When you order to go it's packaged perfectly.

Very fast, very friendly, excellent food! The house fried rice was our favorite. The portions are quite large.

We love Golden City. Beef with snow peas, so generous and tender beef. Chicken with garden vegetables is good too, add a little soy sauce for it. We get take out regularly and it is consistently good, hot and fresh ingredients.

At long last, we've finally found a place in Vancouver that serves up orange chicken and, more than likely if pictures serve, any other fried chicken offering swimming in sauce. BF loved this. Didn't want to go crazy on price so I only picked up a combo fried rice and the Buddhist vegetable entree. Total came to a reasonable $36 which was surprisingly low compared to just about most other resturants we tried, including pizza. Buddhist vegetables (apparently) include white onion, snow peas, broccoli, mini corn, water chestnuts, carrots and celery in a white garlic sauce. It's hella good as a foil for the fried stuff my BF just can't stay away from! Your entrees come with a large steamed white rice which was perfectly portioned for the chicken and the veg. Fried rice included chicken and shrimp but no other protein as described (and which I didn't mind as the above are the proteins I enjoy most). It's lightly seasoned (read: not heart stoppingly salty) and lovely to eat. BF picked it up on his way home so I didn't have a chance to see any of the venue itself but I can't wait to try more on the menu so I'm sure I will soon. *Update* Returned to try the egg drop corn chowder, shrimp lo mein, vegetable egg rolls, sesame chicken, won ton soup and chicken with snow peas. This place is GOLD. The sesame chicken managed to eclipse the excellent orange chicken they make. BF couldn't keep away from it and only stopped when there was simply no more room. I don't really care for the shrimp they use in their dishes so stick with the chicken and you'll be fine. I'm a neat freak and managed to drop the container of egg drop soup about 15 minutes after we got home but the little bit left in the container was good. I'd get it again. BF was sad to see me sad so we went back to get the won ton soup, large size like the egg drop. It only has small bits of BBQ pork, snow peas and about 3 or 4 won tons in it, but the broth is well flavored as a side dish with rice. Chicken and snow peas comes in a light garlic sauce. Very very good and lots of peas! Egg rolls were solid. We'll be back soon!

Golden City is a bit on the pricey side for the quality of food and portion size. While competently done, it is nothing exceptional. Disappointingly, the menu items listed as "spicy" have no semblance of heat. One a positive note, though, the items are all fresh and flavorful, and service is very prompt. I was also very happy with their accommodating an "off of the menu" request for one of my dining party with very restrictive dietary needs. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and acommodating.

This place reminds me of going out to Chinese food with my grandparents. When I was a kid. Doesn't look like much from the outside side inside not very big but classic. Food is really good. We have tried lots of the dishes and all have been so good. Great variety on menu lots of options for all. Spice levels can be adjusted if wanted. They do alot of carry out also. Always people picking up or waiting. Our first visit was kinda random. We were going to go to another restaurant near by and just decided to try it. Honey walnut shrimp is the best we've had in the area. Generals chicken as well. Staff is always so nice and they hustle When busy. I highly recommend if you like the classic American Chinese food.

Advertising on local maps gave one price than switch the price on pick up. Nothing special about the place. Just false advertising.

As I began my search for a good Chinese food restaurant for our Xmas eve dinner I was met with a laundry list of mediocre 3 star reviewed options spanning from Battle Ground down throughout Vancouver. Golden City has 4+ stars on both Yelp and Google so we gave them a try. I called in our order at 330pm, was told it'd be an hour wait. I wasn't mad about that; I thought, GREAT, a sign that this place is goooood. And so we arrived for pickup and ended up with a ninety minute wait. Still not mad. While we waited the extra half hour I chatted with a woman who's been coming here for 20 years, and she has yet to find anywhere better. And another testament that they wok up the best in town: they had to turn customers away around 5pm because their kitchen was so busy with the Christmas dinner rush. Again, don't me mad, be envious of those who scored an order and plan to go back another time soon. We ordered general Tsos chicken, lemon chicken, both served with rice of course, pork lo mein, and a scallion pancake that actually didn't make it in the bag. All were delicious, the breaded chicken dishes were crispy on the inside and not over breaded. The noodles also had nice flavor. I often order noodles that are oily and not flavorful, so I was happy with their version. We fed 3 adults and one child and have enough leftovers for dinner for the 2 of us another night. Golden City will now be our go to Chinese spot. Big thanks to all the other Yelp users who got us there!

Who woulda thought this modest hole-in-the wall restaurant in a strip mall would serve such delicious and reasonably priced classic Chinese food? On my first visit I had great hot and sour soup, and delicious moo shoo chicken for around $11. The service was fast and friendly. I'll be back!

This has to be the best Chinese food I have found in Vancouver yet! The general tso chicken was juicy and tender! The sesame chicken was nice and crunchy which is always so hard to find! The portions were good size too! I would definitely recommend and I can't wait to try more on the menu!

Favorite Chinese restaurant in Vancouver. Very much the old style family friendly Chinese restaurant you remember from your childhood where the food is truly wonderful. Exactly what you'd expect of a good Chinese restaurant I especially recommend the pepper squid that's sometimes on special!

I've been to Golden City for years. Yeeeears. I bounce back and forth between 4 & 5 stars. My last review was a solid 4-star. This time though? Golden City Restaurant, ya'll caught a 5-star. Hungry (or getting over sickness)? Let's! Do! Golden City Restaurant! $ It was a sunny and nearing 80s Saturday when me and my plus one ordered to go by phone after reviewing their menu on Yelp. Shout out to Yelpers who take menu photos, aaaand I forgot, d'oh. Full disclosure, I was getting over a gnarly 24hr stomach bug and felt like a freshmen morning after a dorm party when your RA is out. Woof. Well, like any good afterparty stomach logic, I needed fried rice. Yep. I needed to soak my aches and pains in a bowl of rice fried with egg, veg, and meats. But what I got saved my day. The lady who answered the phone answered fast and with their usually cheerful tone. How are they always so happy? Likely the fried rice. We ordered the Combination Fried Rice (lunch size) and Beef With Broccoli. She said it would be ready in 15min. 15min?! I can't event get my pants on and find my keys in 15mins - plus one to the rescue! Food was ready as soon as she arrived (13mins) and she said there was no indoor seating (05/29/21). Approved by us. Thank you for keeping our community safe and for the freaking lava you serve! Seriously, no ones food in all of Vancouver is as piping hot as Golden City. Each your sauces with caution lol it's temperature HOT! 1) Combination Fried Rice: Lunch special sized and the perfect portion to sooth my sore stomach back to life. I nursed this box of perfection all day and it made me feel human again. Egg, peas, carrots, fresh fried onions, pork, chicken, shrimp rice all hang out in a salty and perfectly firm rice to ultra-tender meat combo. Write this down for when you feel raunchy: get the fried rice. You'll feel better. Or die trying. 2) Beef With Broccoli: Not something I normally get. I mean, I like beef and I like broccoli, but it's just never 'wowed' me as a restaurant dish. I WAS WRONG. My plus one wanted "beef and a vegetable." Beef and broccoli? "Sure." The reviews for the Sesame Beef are amazing and I really need to try that next time. Oh, there will be a next time. The broccoli was delightfully crunchy and obviously fresh. I love the florets are kept with a longer section of the tender stem, like how I cook broccoli at home. It's not a bag, it's fresh broccoli (heart eyes). The beef was magically soft and holy moley the sauce was so good we just mixed all the white rice in it! Surprised me how much I loved this dish and absolutely recommend it for the raunchy stomach. I was on the edge, but a heaping of fried rice and some surprisingly amazing broccoli beef saw me through. Come here to earn some hearts back. Whatever's in that broccoli beef sauce is basically the elixir from that video game and you're about to get all your hearts back.

This is the Chinese food we've been looking for. We had the orange chicken, broccoli beef, chicken lo mein, and wonton soup (to go), and it was just delicious. We will be back.

Worst ever. Wanted to try some place new. Had hoped it would be a new go to since they had mooshu on the menu. Just want good. Pot stickers filling was so dense and greasy and unappetizing. The mooshu came with flour tortillas not the rice wraps. The sweet and sour was not vinegar like than sweet/sour. The tempura shrimp tasted off, my shrimp loving kids took one bite and tossed it. Won't be back.

Wow! Super good and lunch prices are very good. 5-star...hot/sour soup, wonton soup, veg spring rolls, Mongolian beef, Szechuan chicken and sweet sour chicken.

Been coming here for 3-4 years & bringing whoever wants delicious Chinese food. I read these 1 star reviews & can't relate with them especially when majority loves there food. Service is always good & food is excellent. If your looking for a new place & haven't tried GC your missing out. Prices are cheap & the amount of food is excellent also. For All you 1stars I don't believe you & obviously your taste buds are deceiving you.

General Tso's, Lemon Chicken, and Shrimp w/ Snow Peas were all excellent. Large portions, fair prices. Unfortunately, service was mediocre--servers acted as if they didn't speak English. Never received Chinese mustard after THREE requests.

Delicious! Food is so good. Restaurant is clean and employees are very nice. Don't let the location fool you. Come in and try! Highly recommend.

Horrible. My husband has sea food allergies. We ordered everything thing chicken. The noodles came out w shrimp in it. Unknowing he ate some of it. Could have killed him on the spot. I asked when ordering again when it was delivered to the table. Called when I got home to make sure they understood. They denied said it was rice. I'm pretty sure I know shrimp from rice. Never ever go here. Awful. Terrible had to walk out.

I saw in a group on FB saying that they were thrilled that Golden City was open again. They raved about the food. SO, I was in the mood for some Beef and Sugar/Snow Peas..Ordered that and an order of Pot Stickers. All of it was awful. The pot stickers were huge with some clump of something inside with no taste. The Beef and Sugar peas were awful, tasteless and full of carrots, celery and I think onions. I did not order all that. I want Beef and sugar peas. I think that is a SW Washington thing because when I was up in Bremerton, Beef and Sugar peas was just Beef and snow peas, nothing else.. THEN to top it off, the sugar peas were so over cooked and they had some black stuff on them..It appears it may have been from a dirty grill..I was able to wipe it off the ones I ate. I will never, ever go there again and I will never listen to others who claim that this is great food..it's not..

Amazing staff and amazing food!! Definitely my favorite in Hazel Dell!! We have only ordered take out but we can't wait to dine in soon!

A few things- They don't offer things like combo meals. It's all just a main dish and rice. So if you are hoping for a scoop of fried rice and a little spring roll, that won't be happening. They have at best a few side dishes and soups. The menu seems comprehensive without wandering into manifesto territory. They still make with the complementary tea. Not many do anymore. We came in soon after a party of at least a dozen was seated. So yeah, we had to wait a bit but it was survivable. I ordered shrimp with snow peas. Generous portions of both with a bit of shaved carrots for added color. The sauce was flavorful but light. I liked the fact that I didn't have to drink a gallon of water 4 hours later. My wife got one of the vegetarian dishes and liked it fine. There was more than enough rice for both of our meals. It seems that at least around here, Chinese restaurants are slowly being replaced by Thai and Vietnamese restaurants. I hope this one survives.

Found this establishment on yelp, and it was delicious! I always order vegetarian egg foo young, it was the best I've ever had, very fresh and the brown gravy was also very good, just as good the next day, with no gelatinous tendencies! Also ordered cashew chicken and it was delicious as well, very good chicken with no gross "crunchies" or yucky tendons in the meat. The meat in Chinese good is in my opinion always a little suspect but this was yum.

Mad craving for pan fried noodles but wanted to try a new place. Golden City is only 2 miles from my house. Quick internet search on their menu. Called and ordered. Went in and paid, they brought it out to my car. Prices are good. Food is fantastic! It was fresh and tasted clean, you know what I mean. The noodles were crispy, the veg was great and the sauce yummy! Portion was big. Service was great too. I'll be back!

I wish I could give a zero review. I had a family come into the resutrant and when it was time to pay the bill the server forced the family to $40 tip. Knowing that they did not have a lot of money and that the adults could not speak a lot of english they yelled at the child who is only 12 years old to pay $40 tip because that is the law that they told her and that it is illeagal not to give a tip. This resurant should be ashamed for this action and they should know the law.
