Guys! I just had a scrumptious chicken salad croissant at Golden Cup Coffee. Truth be told, this review should include a write-up about a piece of cake, but I was so full after my sandwich that I can only tell you about the sandwich and coffee! Speaking of coffee, this is not some "grande caramel macchiato in a venti cup, 1/3 whole milk, 1/3 almond milk, 1/3 soy milk, double vanilla, caramel wall in the cup, no drizzle, upside-down, whipped cream, extra shot with cinnamon on top" kind of coffee place. Here, you get light, medium, or dark roast and small, medium, or large. They will give you cream and sugar on the side. And you'll like it! Now, back to that sandwich. The croissant was flaky. So dang flaky. The chicken salad was plentiful and contained some dried fruit (think "Craisins," but better). The chicken salad was spilling out of the sides of this sandwich and I really wanted to lick my plate, but my friend Jenn was with me and I did not want to embarrass my sweet friend. Instead, I licked my fingers, which was less satisfying, but also less embarrassing for both of us. I was offered a side of chips or a salad and I opted for the chips. Jenn had chicken gumbo and honestly, I am pretty sure I heard her slurp that hearty soup. Both of us lied to that delightful woman who took our order. We were so sure we were going back for dessert, but we just didn't have room in our bellies! The food is why you visit Golden Cup Coffee. The charming little shop is why you choose "for here" rather than "to go." We loved the cute little tables with the chairs that fit under them "just so" and left no gaps. Mid-century modern? I don't know. Don't ask me furniture styles. This is about food. Darn good food. There were a couple of guys who came into the shop while Jenn and I were eating and talking about how much fun we had volunteering at the Response to Love Center just that morning. These gentlemen were clearly regulars and were treated so warmly. Jenn and I felt welcome here, but the way these guys were greeted made me want to be a regular so they would say, "Hey Jen!" when I walk in the door. And if Jenn and I become regulars and go together for lunch, they can say, "Hi, Jen and Jenn!" or we can tell them what our friends call us when we are together - "Here comes Jenergy!" (See what we did there?) If you've never been to Golden Cup, you'll need to know the parking is not easy here, but look around and you'll find a place. Jenn and I did okay and we drove separately. Okay. You've read the review. Now what are you waiting for?

A cornerstone café on Buffalo's east side whose owners are great community leaders! The area has been through so much, so it's great to have good food in a prime location. Also their coffee is nearly unmatched. Jamaican Me Crazy is both my favorite daiquiri AND my favorite local coffee flavor!

I love this cafe. And there is nothing better than fresh roasted coffee! The Buffalo roast is a go to. Made it in my pour over today and it is strong and well balanced without any bitterness!

I ordered their beans online and it has been over a week and they have not even roasted them yet. My adfvice is not to order products from them online.

Fantastic coffee and food, strong community focus, these folks are simply the best! I haven't been in probably 6 months, but they remembered my breakfast croissant order (egg, cheese, and whatever veggies they have around--spinach, mushrooms, and onion this morning)!! So good. Also picked up a single bag of their Vermont Maple Nut Crunch coffee. There are places that are touted as more hip around town (Public, Tipico, Daily Planet), which are all great...but if you want to be a part of and support Buffalo, then Golden Cup is without rival. And frankly, with their in-house roasting and flavored coffees, they're no less hip.

Golden Cup coffee is a real gem. Located on Jefferson avenue it is easy to get to from downtown. The beans are locally roasted and there's a wide variety of choices from Jamaican Me crazy or African Gold to Irish cream. That's only half the good news. It is also a spectacular bakery. Jackie is a dessert genius. there are no bad choices. only really yummy ones. Shop local!

I was told Golden Cup had the best lemon cake in Buffalo. Wow, is it ever delicious! Drop by for a slice, either to eat in or take away. You will be glad you did!!

I went for breakfast on a Wednesday morning around 1030 AM. My other friend had a bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and said it was delicious. I really enjoyed my pita. Very small, maybe 3 tables. Low key, kind staff, delicious.

I stopped here with a friend for a quick bite to eat and coffee. From the minute we walked in everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The decor is beautiful, I loved the style of the establishment. I had the african gold coffee and it was so smooth, I want to try more flavors. The chicken gumbo was a delightful portion, very good size, and I couldn't stop eating it. So good! It reminded me of something my mom would make in the kitchen, very comforting. In the selection of baked goods I saw a pecan pie that I need to come back for, it looked like something you'd see on food network! You can tell there's a passion to this business and the food, and that makes a world of difference! I will be back!

Great experience and excellent service. Popped in for a cup of Chai Latte and one of the coffees of the week (Jamaica Me Crazy) with a friend and we both really enjoyed our brews. As long as I've heard of this place, I hadn't stopped in to support this Black-owned coffee shop, but glad I did today because they serve Pecan Pie! As a southern transplant, this made my heart (though not my waistline) very happy. Will return for beverages and pie in the future.

This is a fantastic cafe on Buffalo's East Side. Aside from being a roastery where they sell coffee beans by the pound, they also serve a variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches. I started with a medium roast coffee, which was an incredibly smooth roast. It was so smooth, you could tell that this place really specializes in coffee and each drink was supremely pleasant. For food, I had the 2+2+2 which comes with 2 eggs, choice of bacon ham or sausage and two slices of toast. I was served some scrambled eggs with two sausage patties (choice of pork or turkey) and some already buttered sourdough bread. The scrambled eggs were delicious and not overcooked, but perfect and buttery. There is free wifi and about 5 tables -- a nice place to work. I'd definitely recommend stopping in here for a cup of joe!

I've been here a few times in recent weeks for coffee meetings and each time has been pleasant. The staff and all the customers are so friendly and the "Jamaican Me Crazy" blend is the smoothest coffee I've ever had. They always have fresh baked goods but I try to stay away from those. I did cave in for a mini sweet potato pie recently and it was bomb!!

After enjoying Urban Farm Day my friend and I decided to look for a place to chat and enjoy a cold drink. Google guided us here. What a pleasant surprise! Golden Cup is a local coffee shop with more than just coffee. They have a breakfast and lunch items on their menu, about three or four tables, and air conditioning on a nice summer day. My friend and I enjoyed a brewed sweet iced tea and a raspberry iced tea, yum! When we called, I was worried they were just going to have bottled drinks, but this was good stuff. We shared the sweet potato pound cake which was delicious and a generous portion that filled my belly. We felt comfortable hanging out for over an hour, and were able to utilize the bathroom too, which were clean. Quite a few people stopped in to pick up drinks or food while we were there and everyone was treated like family. I also brought home a slice of apple pie and a little sweet potato pie which were both good, especially the sweet potato pie. They had all sorts of desserts, great place to go if you're looking for something sweet. The food smelled real good too, I'd like to try it sometime. Limited menu, but great choices. Glad we found this place!

This place takes coffee to a new level. They are hands down one of the best roasters in Buffalo. Their African Gold blend and their Buffalo Roast are even now available in Wegmans. They have a great selection of whole bean coffees that are freshly roasted in their Cafe, including an affordable Kona single origin coffee. I asked Mr Stitts how he could sell a real Kona coffee that isn't a blend for only 25 dollars (normally this coffee goes for 40 to 50 dollars per bag)? His answer is he doesn't mark it up like others do. So what is there beyond the decadent scent on freshly roasted beans and affordable and amazing coffee? Well this business gives back to its community through fund raising efforts as well. What more could you ask for, then to have an amazing product being sold by community minded business owners? Are there comparable roasters in Buffalo? Yes there are. But do they look out for their community like the Stitts' do? Not on your life.

I read an article from Step Out Buffalo a few weeks ago about Golden Cup Coffee that really intrigued me to try it out the next time I visited Buffalo, and today was the day. I usually travel with a cup of coffee, but silly me, I left my to go cup at home and I was in need of a caffeine pick me up. That's when I remembered that article! Golden cup is a petite but comfy coffee shop that smells incredible once you enter. I wasn't sure what to get, so I asked for a large, black coffee of their house blend; known as "Buffalo Roast." My husband got a large of "African Gold" coffee with half n' half. The Buffalo Roast is slightly bitter, but bold and strong. Sort of reminds me of a mild espresso. I had a sip of my husband's African Gold; it has a slightly sweet fragrant flavor. Both are INCREDIBLE!!! After one sip of each I bought some grounds to take home. I also eyed their beautifully displayed sweets and opted for a slice of Caramel Cake. It's a moist yellow cake with a fluffy caramel frosting. A perfect compliment to my coffee. The woman that waited on us was very pleasant, and patrons were happy to tell us what to try the next time we stop in. I will most definitely be back.

Made a quick stop here and got a Chai Latte and a brownie. Really cute place with very reasonable prices and the brew was pretty good.

Great food, service, and atmosphere. I'm a picky eater and with every new item on the menu I try, I'm never disappointed. Highly recommend their French Toast and Jamaican Me Crazy Coffee.

So glad I stumbled upon this little coffee shop! Stopped in for an iced coffee and a breakfast sandwich and grabbed some bags of coffee to go as well. The bacon egg and cheese croissant breakfast sandwich I had was AMAZING! Super crispy bacon and perfectly fluffy cheesy eggs I'm still drooling over it. Ordered the Jamaican Me Crazy iced coffee with just a splash of cream and it was perfect. Can't recommend this place enough! I'll definitely back!

Delicious food, friendly and prompt service, and peaceful atmosphere. Just look at this! It's beautiful and almost too pretty to eat!

My staff have fallen in love with golden cup! As a local coffee roaster around the corner from our school we opted to buy local and I doubt we are ever going back for our staff meeting needs! Tons of people text me asking about where we purchased our coffee from this time. Also note...I was looking for their Sumatra beans and she said she'd ask her husband to roast some for me to buy later in the afternoon...you can't get coffee any fresher!

Stopped in to grab a cup of coffee and left very satisfied! I had their Buffalo Roast (I hope I'm not completely off in the name) which is a bold, or at least I was told it was a bold coffee. It was really good! If I'm in the area I will definitely stop in again!

Best chicken salad sandwich on croissant!!!! I'll be dreaming about it for weeks to come!

Had a business lunch here and I was quite impressed with the food. Their marinated grilled veggie sandwich sounded better than what a lot of more pretentious lunch places offer for vegetarians and vegans (aka veg*ns). Also, they roast their own coffee beans which they also sell by the pound, as fundraisers, and for which they can make personalized labels. How cools is that? I can't think of the last time I had a veggie and hummus sandwich at a restaurant locally and thought, "I would come back here just to order that sandwich." They also offer serve as a community meeting space and the place is used as just that for many East Side organizations and churches.

My mom and I came in to enjoy the veggie wrap we are vegan and they made the most delicious veggie wrap with no cheese, it was flavorful fresh and oh so yummy we highly recommend the Golden Cup forfor lunch or breakfast afternoon snack! Larry and Jackie roast the coffee on site!

I've been in Buffalo longer than anticipated due to the illness of a family member. After a long day at the VA Hospital, I needed a good cup of java and a nice bite to eat. I'm a creature of habit when it comes to coffee houses and bistros. Chicken salad on croissant is generally what I crave and I'm constantly on a tasting treasure hunt for better versions of my salad of choice. There was no chicken salad so I tried the Jefferson Avenue wrap and it was great!!!! I'll be back to try more. Pros Nice cafe with nice decor. The Turkish coffee pots really caught my attention. Great staff that was very patient with me while I mulled over menu options. I was given suggestions which helped a great deal Smiling faces made me smile. The coffee is excellent. Very family oriented cafe. Small and intimate. Con Small could be a con as there is not enough seating to accommodate a crowd. Lucky for me there were friends there when I arrived, so I sat with them. I would suggest that signs are posted to encourage communal seating.

This cozy place serves up some great coffee! I met the owner/president, Larry Stitts, who explained the roasting process to me, so now I know how to find the best roast for my mood, LOL! Oh, and the sweet potato pound cake was so flavorful and yummy, a perfect companion to the coffee. I couldn't walk out of there without trying the brownies; they were sooooo moist and chocolatey! Next time I'm in Buffalo and I want a really good cup of coffee and some great conversation in a clean, friendly environment, I'm coming here!

The Buffalo Brew was great, roasted on site and not over cooked. Better than Starbucks and SPOT. We enjoyed learning about the owners story and their passion for coffee. The breakfast was high quality. I hope this shop turns into a game changer and gold standard for the area!

The coffee was amazing and it smelled fantastic in there. I had an egg, cheese, and turkey sausage breakfast sandwich and it was delicious. Scrambled egg and made on a criossant and it was perfect. I can't wait to try their lunch!! Nicest guy was at the counter!

They roast their own coffee beans and it is some of the best coffee in the area. The food is outstanding especially the chicken gumbo.

I stopped in for a sandwich, ordered the roast beef panini and ate my heart out. Pleasant conversation with the employees. I bought a nice bag of coffee beans--the dark roast Buffalo Brew--to take home. Very tasty coffee the next morning!

A co-worker and I stopped by here in between meetings. Workers were really friendly. I had the best egg and cheese on a croissant. I ordered a decaf coffee and it was so smooth - usually decaf can be a bit harsh but this was so good. I'll definitely keep this place in mind the next time I'm in the area.

Owner is really passionate about coffee. Really like their Buffalo blend. Good cup of coffee no doubt. They roast right there.

Food is great, but the real treasure is the freshly roasted coffee which they roast in the back of the cafe. Well-priced for the quality and absolutely amazing every single time.
