The 7 Best Dim Sum Restaurants In Houston

"Golden Dim Sum in Chinatown may be a little worn in—or just waiting to undergo a massive renovation like the shiny new digs at Fung’s and Ocean Palace—but it's the Catonese food at Golden that keeps your attention. Order everything here via the sheet on your table (with help from the full-color picture menus). Everything comes out hot and fresh at a fast clip, with the steam buns, especially the sweet and crushable BBQ pork, as standouts. And snacking on everything in a red and teal dining room straight out of a 1980s imagining of a Cantonese restaurant feels all the more fun, even without the classic cart service. " - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

Golden Dim Sum - Review - Chinatown - Houston - The Infatuation

"For fans of brightly colored dining rooms, 1980s decor, and dim sum, check out Golden Dim Sum in Chinatown. It’s possible the dining room at Golden looks exactly the same as the day it opened—aggressively teal walls, gold and red dragon banners—with the only addition being a full-color wallpaper of every dish on the menu permanently adhered to an entire wall. Don’t know what Golden serves? Well, the second you shift any direction in the dining room you definitely will. And while these aren’t shiny new digs, Golden still makes excellent dim sum, especially any of the fluffy steamed buns, every single day of the week. So grab a paper menu and mark up as many dishes as possible with a group of friends or just a casual dumpling-themed dinner." - Chelsea Thomas

We stumbled upon The Golden Dim Sum by accident, and it was an amazing surprise! The hostess was such a sweet and attentive lady, making sure we were well taken care of. Even though they were super busy on a Sunday, our dishes came out incredibly fast. The staff did a great job explaining the menu and even recommended some customer favorites. Definitely a place I would recommend!

A cozy, convenient dim sum restaurant in the sterling (H-Mart) shopping center. Lots of dim sum items to choose from. Fast order to serve time. Food quality was much better when the restaurant first opened. Though quality is still ok, most dishes were slightly off on its characteristic element this time - turnip cake not crispy enough, rice roll too thick (not smooth), siu mai not bouncy in texture, and fried pork puff has minimal pork/any filling.

This is a hidden gem in Bellaire that serves up delicious and authentic dim sum. The food was flavorful and fresh, with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The service was exceptionally friendly and quick, making the dining experience even more enjoyable! The spacious restaurant had no wait time, allowing us to be seated immediately. If you're looking for great dim sum without the crowds, this spot is a must-try!

When in the mood for something different and delicious have dim sum. Serve in small portions gives you a chance to try different dishes. This is a great place to come and enjoy your meal. Food is served efficiently and hot. I love it with some tea.

I usually go to the 1st location but my parents and I were at hmart so we walked over. It was 10am, right when they open lol. They greeted us warmly and let us sit wherever we wanted. Our food came out quickly. We usually order the dry flat noodle stir fry but had ordered the flat noodle with gravy once and actually enjoyed it. I love turnip cake but idk why I don’t like the turnip cake here at all, it tastes stale every time. Chicken feet is usually really good at golden but today it was on the saltier side. It was still edible but it got a little too much as you continue to eat. Salt n pepper squid was no good. Had no flavor and tasted like old oil. Steamed pork ribs are my favorite here. So much flavor and not too chewy. I recommend getting the fried shrimp with salad dressing. The dressing is like a sweet mayo, so good. Got so into eating I forgot to take the rest of the photos haha

This is me and my husband's favorite Dim Sum spot in Houston, we love it so much. We eat here once a week, every single week like clockwork, it feeds the soul. I grew up eating Dim Sum, and have tried many restaurants in the area. There are the good and the bad, but this place is uniquely homey with consistently delicious fresh food and tea. The waitresses have gotten to know us and are very kind and attentive. If you are looking for a regular Dim Sum spot, come in and be polite, after a while they will treat you like family!

Decided to have lunch with my sister, cousin, and five year old nephew 12/28/23 Thursday . The waitress/hostess was extremely rude and aggressive. She kept rushing us to order when it was not busy. Once we ordered she brought us soup spoons stuck together when I pulled them apart there was old rice holding them together so I ask her for clean ones which she gets with a bothered attitude. We finally get our food and she comes and tells us when you finish go pay at the register and ask for to go box which we usually have the server always give us the check and boxes and bag. I go pay she doesn’t hand me my receipt she tells me my total well for a party of four she charged us gratuity and i didn’t notice because she didn’t give me a receipt so I pay. I asked for the receipt but didn’t notice that she was acting so weird because she had added tip to it and the thing is I work in the service industry so definitely know how to take care of my service people. So needless to say watch out for the attitude then the tip add on ! She got way more than she deserved. Even after over tipping she stared at us until we left. I will definitely be back and tip accordingly after I’ve reviewed my receipt . I guess she was hoping I wouldn’t catch on to the tip scam.

Love a good dim sum experience! They were a bit understaffed when we were there recently and the only recent I rated lower was because of this, otherwise good flavors, texture and taste!
