Golden Donuts

I had such a great experience at this donut shop! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming — you can tell they really care about their customers. The place is very clean, perfect for grabbing a quick treat. And the donuts… honestly the best I’ve had in a long time. Fresh, soft, and full of flavor. You can taste the quality in every bite. The coffee is just as good — hot, fresh, and the perfect pairing with the donuts.

The best apple fritters you will ever have in your entire life. The edges are slightly crispy. The rest of it is soft, flavorful…honestly, it’s like eating a piece of heaven. when you walk in there, it is the best smell in the entire world. I’ve been to tons of bakeries, no bakery smells as good as willies. I swear to God, THE BEST! I haven’t tried alot of the other donuts from there because the only donut I really like is an apple fritter, but the rest of them look really good too and everyone else at my house eats them.

So I went to the new golden donuts in Macomb 21 mile and north avenue Donuts are mini very disappointed. I paid $9.50 for half a dozen. Willie’s will be missed. Nice people but donuts are very small.

I'm told Willey's had good donuts. I wouldn't know, because they weren't open early enough for me to get donuts on the way to work, and they were out by the time I was heading home. Golden donuts has hours that I like better, and the donuts I love (I've been going to their other locations for years). Stop in and get the best fritters you've ever had.

Golden Donuts is reusing the Willie's Donuts listing, which might be inflating the review listing higher than it should be. I love their chocolate cake donut and regular sized donuts overall. However, for the last 3 times, I ordered one of their premium donuts (apple fritter and cinnamon roll), they tasted dry (either overcooked or stale). Which wasn't the same experience I had when golden donuts first took over for Willie's. For that, our family is probably taking a break from Golden Donuts, in hopes things will improve. Lady who runs the shop is very nice. The pricing is right.

Good variety of donuts and the taste is nice too, but they're fairly small and overpriced. Worst thing is the staff: no emotion at all. They made me feel like I was intruding on them. Willy's staff was amazing; this place is the complete opposite. I will not be going back.

You definitely don’t count calories when you go to Willie’s, but life’s short, right?! Eat a donut (or three) from The BEST donut spot! The Earl filled with buttercream and their apple fritters loaded with huge apple chunks are 2 of my favorites and my ABSOLUTE favorite is the donut filled with Bavarian cream and fresh strawberries or raspberries! 🤤😍🤤😍🤤 SO amazingly GOOD. The owner is incredibly sweet and talented, and makes all of the fillings fresh daily. She is willing to do my dozen special order call ahead within 24 hours (they can get pretty busy and sell out mid-morning most days), so I usually place my orders over the phone!

I’m putting up this review in support of Golden Donuts, I think some people are sentimental about willie’s, but the only donut they had that was any good was the fritter. I was never impressed with Willie’s, Golden Donuts is good, just like Willie’s some donuts are better than others…you have to keep an eye out for their Napoleon which is amazing and some of their other specialty donuts. Their fritters are good, about the same as Willie’s, but some of the other ones are quite special. If you just get the plain normal donuts it’s like many other standard donuts shops, but they have a lot of good ones.
