Ask Eater: “I Just Need a Big Chinese Restaurant” | Eater London

"A traditional dim sum contender known for accommodating banqueters and large groups; a practical option if you want classic shared plates and table-turning dim sum service for a party." - Jonathan Nunn

It’s a really big Chinese store. It was empty when I first got in there. I ordered my food which came to $15. I got chicken wings, shrimp lo mein & a homemade pink lemonade. The prices aren’t too bad. They do accept debit card. They charge you $.075 if you spend less than $15. They took about 15 minutes to cook my food. It seems like it was mom & dad in the back cooking & 2 kids about the ages of 11 & 15 taking the orders & packing the bags. The service was just ok. The food wasn’t too bad either. I really like that I had like 10 pieces of shrimp in my lo mein. The chicken wings were fried really hard like I asked. It wasn’t anything special, but definitely wasn’t bad. I do live close so I will probably be back.

I’ve been in Mt Airy for almost two years now and have ordered from all kinds of places who sell Chinese. Golden Dragon is consistently the only place I never have issues with. All the food is fairly priced. Portion sizes are great, and they’re very friendly. They may be a few spots who have “better” food but you’ll pay 1.5x what you’ll pay here and it’s not always going to be good. If you’re new to the area or are looking for someone consistent and convenient, you’re not going to find anything better

The food is very good I got some wings and they was a little sweet. It’s because they use the same oil for the funnel cake that they use for frying other things like fries and rolls

I ordered shrimp fried rice and shrimp rolls. The rice was yellow, didn’t taste fried and most of the shrimp was at the top. It just wasn’t good. It was like yellow rice with shrimp. It would have been nice if they had started with white rice and actually fried it in sesame oil and soy sauce but that didn’t happen! The shrimp roll was good. Very crisp and brown on the outside and the lettuce wasn’t over baring. I definitely enjoyed the shrimp roll the most. Their customer service was like Chick-Fil-A at a Chinese store. That’s one of the main reasons why I am willing to go back. However, I WILL NOT be getting their shrimp fried rice. If you go, be sure to get a shrimp roll.

Not a fancy place, but the menu contains many treats to choose from. My favorite is the hot and spicy shrimp and shrimp egg foo young. Now for those folks that love specialty platters – there are many variety of meat items included in the platters that can feed a hungry family that are budget conscious, and that are also looking for affordable ways to dine-out. There are many chicken wing appetizers on the menu – that range from mild to hot and spicy, and fried chicken wings with garlic sauce – served-up for the garlic lovers. I love Golden Dragon menu – as they give customers a clear description on hot specialty items that give the patron ways to pair special dishes, which also adds a great way to enjoy several entrees at an affordable price. Pros: Special Health and Diet Menu, Buy 5 Get 1 Free, Family Dinner Specials, Dinner for Two and Three, and Four, in addition to including an extensive family menu. Cons: Sometimes orders of rice may be too starchy.

This is a mixed review as I always order the house special chow ho fat, which is superb. Recently I ordered the shrimp egg foo young (good) and the shrimp toast (horrible, too greasy- avoid at all costs! ).

Never had anything else but the Pork fried dumpling. And let me say… THE BEST dumplings. I travel 40 minutes JUST FOR THEM. The sauce isn’t like any other. They are to die for definitely give them a try!
