Our cabin steward Dori was exceptional in looking after us, and her many years of experience showed. Likewise, the tour leader Anita, ably supported by Adrienn and Gabriella made sure we had wonderful experiences as we visited so many incredible cities.
The food on board was excellent and wait staff were good-humoured.
However I had to use the onboard Dr for 2 injuries, both a result of injury by the train
The train's ride itself was extremely rough at times, with hard, unexpected lurching. There's nothing smooth about the way it runs most of the time. Others experienced the lurching too, but fortunately not to the extent I did.
The first bad injury happened when I was reaching for something in a cupboard. The train lurched so badly I was flung backwards, hitting my spine against a door handle on an under bed drawer. The lurch was so extreme that our 2 bath towels flew off the hooks on the back of the bathroom door.
I ended up in severe pain, unable to sleep that night. The British Dr Sharon was excellent in her care.
For 2 days I stayed in the cabin and couldn't even sit on the toilet. The swelling was extreme on my left buttock and extended down to my foot and toes. Very dark bruising came out a few days later. I'll be writing to the company's seniors with photos.
The 2nd injury happened as a result of a door between carriages not reacting to someone already in the doorway. That was meant to have been fixed because two staff told me they'd been caught too
I'm now home but still having pain and limited ability to walk. In case the perception is that I'm a "frail old lady"- I'm very fit and strong. I do at least 3-4 x 45 mins per week spin classes at the gym, plus 2 x 1 hour weights sessions with a personal trainer
As wonderful as the staff are, as excellent the food is and as remarkable are the tours in cities, there's no way I'd recommend the engines which pull this train.
