"Owned by a Moroccan family, this Hampden spot serves warming Middle Eastern plates in a modest but welcoming setting. Earthy red-lentil soup, pomegranate seed–topped baba ghanoush, crunchy-tender falafel, juicy chicken shawarma, rich braised lamb shank — it’s all here; just be sure to ask for a side of the wonderfully creamy house spinach." - Ruth Tobias

Elevator speech -gyro, fries, falafel good, pita dry not homemade, hummus too bitter, too much tahini. Interior decoration is miserable, weird vibes. - - - - - - - If you are still with me, I’ll say, overall it was a good experience. The older gentlemen that served us wasn’t nice but wasn’t mean, and was attentive and quick. I didn’t mind that. We had high hopes for the pita bread as it was large and looked ALMOST homemade but it definitely wasn’t. Dry and leathery. I would go back for the gyro and the fries oddly enough. The fries are really good and certainly homemade. I ended with a Turkish coffee and it’s the first coffee that’s woke me up in a while. Tiny and mighty! Lastly, this is JUST ME because I’m really into music, (audiophile) but they have a really small, pitchy speaker that sounds terrible, full blast in there. It made it super awkward and comical. Felt like we were on an episode of always sunny or something funny like that. Alright, tootles.

We had a pretty good meal at Golden Falafel. We started off with a greek salad which was good 7/10. As an appetizer we tried the falafel, good flavor, a little undercooked but still happy with them 7.5/10. The entrees came with a side of hummus, which was a little on the bland side, but still a nice sized portion 5/10. The pita was thin and flat and also left a little to be desired 5.5/10. For entrees I got the gyro, much better than other places that I have been to. The seasoning and flavor were great, the rice left a lot to be desired 8/10. My girlfriend had the chicken shawarma plate, which was alright, the meat was a little thin but all in all 6.5/10. For a dessert we got the baclava, which was very small, but still tasted pretty good 6.5/10. I do not live close to here and would not say that it was worth the drive. If you live close to here, this is an alright spot for Mediterranean food.

Google
Really really delish. Was too hungry and excited and forgot to take pics of all the food. But we ordered baba ghanoush and the zaatar pie to start. Both were **chefs kiss**. Then ordered the chicken shawarma plate and the gyro plate—they were out of beef shawarma. The garlic sauce on top of the chicken shawarma was nuts. And the gyro meat was really tasty. Point being, no complaints. The flow of take out was very consistent though we dined in and we were able to take about 2 meals of left overs home—healthy portions! Would return!

Google
We’re a family who was visiting town for a concert, and the night before went to a popular, highly rated diner that we found very mid. We walked into Golden Falafel after the lunch rush with measured expectations. It was clear that this restaurant was a beloved neighborhood spot because every table had remnants of devoured meals. The very friendly host cleared off a table for my family to sit and look over the menu. Super helpful service and delightfully plated dishes. The falafel was truly one of the best I’ve ever had. My wife’s grilled lamb had a great flavor to it, but I really loved the gyro plate that I ordered. It was my son’s first time trying gyro meat, and he loved it too. The pickled plate was huge, and my son demolished the olives. In fact, all the plates were large portions. I left the meal stuffed and satisfied. If we’re back in the area, we’d definitely come back.

Google
Golden Falafel in Denver is a hidden gem that truly deserves a spotlight. I tried their falafel wrap, and it was absolutely delicious—perfectly seasoned and wrapped with care, offering both quality and flavor in every bite. What really stood out was the owner's welcoming nature. He happily engaged in a delightful conversation, where we exchanged thoughts on various local and international topics. The warm and friendly atmosphere made the experience even more memorable. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a friendly chat, I wholeheartedly recommend Golden Falafel. It's a place that not only serves great food but also creates a sense of community. Don't miss out! 🌟

First off, I love how they actually space out your food. They give you appetizers of pita bread and hummus and then a salad a few minutes later. (Tbh, the salad dressing was not to my liking. It was mayo mixed in with some spices to get different colors. I couldn't finish it at all. The gyro plate was sooooo good!! The atmosphere was very clean, and the service was on point. Would definitely eat here again.

Google
A not-so-hidden gem right in plain sight. The high reviews of this place definitely reflect the quality of the food and the location. This is a smaller shop with only a handful of tables. My order was to go for this visit, but I would happily go back and stay for a meal. Speaking of - prices are reasonable in an ever inflating market and with the average cost of meals being nearly $15+ in 2025, this place really brings you back down to earth. I had a kabob sandwich with fries that was exceptional. I’ve already happily recommended this place to friends and will continue to do so.

Google
The food was amazing, the prices are good, and it's the best felafel I've found! It didn't feel dry like so many do. I'll definitely be back. I ordered the vegetarian plate and a side of saffron rice. I didn't realize the dish already came with rice, lol. It's a great portion, and every element was prepared perfectly! I also ordered a sweet green tea to go :)

Yelp
I love their vegetarian combo plate. I live in the neighborhood and get it once every few weeks to go. It is just superb. I do not eat meat so can not rate their meat dishes but the vegetarian plate is excellent. The pomegranate seeds on top of the baba ganoush are a nice touch. I wish their (homemade) pita was a little softer but it is not a deal breaker. I enjoy supporting small, local, independent, family-run establishments and this is certainly one. The proprietor is always friendly, remembering me as a regular customer.

Yelp
I love shwarma, and I love finding new places to try out, espexially nice mom and pop owned businesses! Today, I tried Golden Falafel, and I was very pleased with the experience. I had a to go order, so I could not attest to the in-house dining experience, but the man who answered the phone was very nice and answered my questions. I ordered the chicken shwarma plate, which came with a salad and pita and hummus along with the chicken and rice. Everything tasted great. The salad was surprisingly tasty, and though the hummus was low on salt, it was tasty once I added some to it. There was a lot of rice, and my only suggestion would be to add a little more chicken as I felt like it did not match the quantity of rice given. The overall taste of the shwarma was great, especia woth the tahini and tzaziki sauce added in! Everything stayed separated in the to go container, so that was also nice as I got to taste everything without it mixing together on my drive home. I would definitely say here again next time I am in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Ambience: nothing special. Golden falafel is located in a strip mall next to a Safeway store. The interior is pretty basic. Come here for the food not the ambience. Service: was fine. No complaints. Food: the food is special. The baba ghanoush had some nice spices and some pomegranate pieces sprinkled on the top. Very nice preparation and presentation. The euro plate was generous, enough for the two of us to share. It also came with a side of hummus and a side salad. The hummus was especially good. The salad was just OK but we did appreciate the nice touch of some sliced plums added to it. We each had a fresh lemonade that must've been made in house. It was a little heavy on the sugar, but otherwise enjoyable. We would come back again for the food.

Eric R.

Yelp
Solid Mediterranean food. Great soup, good falafel nice baba ganouj good service. Recommend.

Yelp
We are middle eastern food fanatics! When I read about Golden Falafel in the Post I had to try it...you should too!!! Small restaurant in a local mall run by a family. Food is very good. Loved the Chicken Shawarma plate (served with lovely fresh pita, Homemade Hummus, a great fresh Salad). I must say their rice is some of the best I have ever had. It has a unique deep flavor that most places do not have. The vegetarian plate is really awesome: Crispy Falafel, great fresh tabouleh and fattoush. Interesting Fava dip ( really more like a baked bean dish). Sure I have had better Hummus and baba ghanouj but for Denver this place is amazing. Since the article has come out the place is mobbed and since it is a one man show things are at a more gentle pace. The owner is a lovely man and you can feel his warmth. Prices are really good and what you get for your money is exceptional. Highly recommend you make the trek and enjoy some great comfort food!

Yelp
SO GOOD! The Falafel was absolute perfection! The baklava was amazing! Not fancy inside but don't go for the atmosphere, you go for the food. I will return for sure and I would highly recommend!

Yelp
A lil taste of home, I'm so happy to find a restaurant who makes the traditional breakfast pastries. Fresh juice is a normal thing in the Middle East so it's nice to find a place that offers FRESH JUICE all at a reasonable price. The owner is Moroccan and such a nice guy. And it feels clean an homily. Can't wait to go back.

Paul L.

Yelp
Food is outstanding. Very friendly, best falafel, lamb selections are wonderful. The category as a local place Certainly fits the menu.
google avatar

Jelena L.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! Super delicious fresh food. The owner was there, he's just lovely. Their restaurant is very clean and tastefully decorated. When I crave Mediterranean food, this is where I go. Prices are very affordable and reasonable for the amount of food you get!

Yelp
The hubs and I met up with a friend for dinner tonight. We showed up right at 5 and the place very quickly filled up. We started with falafel and the zaatar bread. The falafel was so light and crispy and just delicious. The zaatar bread was soft and soaked up the olive oil and spices. I loved both and knew we were in for a good meal. For my main I went with the baba ganoush sandwich. I haven't had baba ganoush like this before. It had a little pomegranate molasses with pomegranate seeds wrapped up with mixed greens and herbs in pita. The hubs got a gyro sandwich with a side of fries. I snuck a bite and very good as well. Service was really fast and we knew we were in great hands with the owner. I definitely want to come back.

Yelp
The people working here are very kind and welcoming. It is a husband and wife duo at the helm. The service was terrific and personable. Much to my chagrin, the flavors and preparations of the food weren't my bag. I wish the story was different as this place had been on my list for a long time to try. And I love middle eastern food. Having lived In Detroit and Washington, DC, I have had my fair share of this wonderful cuisine. My chicken was so overcooked, I could not choke it down. And I prefer white meat over dark. The falafel, while prepared well and fresh, didn't have the flavor profile I am accustomed to. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't my preference. During my visit, there were a lot of regulars stopping in for a bite to eat. As others have stated, the atmosphere is strip mall chic with some nice music in the background. This is one of my favorite genres of neighborhood restaurants.

Yelp
Best middle eastern food I've eaten in a while. Each dish was beautifully presented (even via takeout, which is often sloppy and carelessly packed). Everything we ordered was fresh and hot, clearly homemade, with some unique ingredients and flavors I haven't before tasted in middle eastern food. A welcomed surprise!

Yelp
Falafel Plate The falafel plate was amazing. Best falafel I've had the salad was great as well, exceeded my expectations. 10/10 recommend. Small family owned business the owner was very kind.

Yelp
I love this place. I don't live nearby but have lots of kids' sports nearby in the afternoons and evenings (Holly Hills, Bible Park, Denver Jewish, etc) and I am in love with this place. Zach does a great job on all of his dishes, from the sandwiches (one kid loves the chicken shawarma, the other the gyro, and I'm a fan of the falafel), to the plates, which are a great value if you're hungry and want a COMPLETE meal -- salad, pita, hummus, rice, meat. The lamb shank is perfectly done, and I think people are catching on as it has been busier than ever.

Tara P.

Yelp
Just had their falafel, gyro wrap and baklava - SUPERB. Family owner and operated - even better!
google avatar

Thao H.

Yelp
Absolutely DELICIOUS! The food here is so well seasoned, every entree is a winner. Even the side salad that comes with entree is above and beyond. We are so happy to have this amazing family restaurant nearby.
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
Got takeout this evening and it was incredible! We got the lamb shank and gyro meat platter and both were so so good! It comes with hummus, rice, and a salad! The hummus was so heavenly and creamy. I didn't have high expectations since we moved here from Houston and all the Mediterranean food ins Denver has been so dismal in comparison. I rarely leave reviews unless a place is really good or unfortunately really bad, but I had to come on and leave one for this place. I'm also pregnant, so I spent a ton of time trying to find a place that looked authentic but also looked like it had the lowest chance of food poisoning based on reviews. This food all tasted and looked so fresh!

Yelp
I had some time to kill before an early evening movie, decided to stop in here and give it a try. Decor is modest, with some interesting pattern plates and prints. Middle Eastern electroninca was playing at a medium-low volume. I ordered the vegetarian combo plate which came out in about five minutes. It's a very generous amount of food, definitely shareable by 2 people, and the food was arranged quite appetizingly (see pic). Everything was delicious, and there's some good attention to detail, like little shaped pickled turnip pieces, crispy bits of pita mixed into the fatoush salad, and dusting of sumac. Falafel was great, seemed to maybe have a bit of a coriander leaning in terms of spices. Definitely worth stopping in if you're a fan of middle eastern food!

Sridhar R.

Yelp
Unassuming Middle Eastern/ Moroccan restaurant tucked away in a strip mall. Family-run establishment with warm and friendly service. Food is plentiful and outstanding, everything is high quality and you can tell is freshly made. Chicken shawarma and lamb kofta were grilled to perfection, hummus was tangy and light, and the house salad was light and fresh. Real highlight was the house spinach, a lightly-spiced Moroccan version of the best steakhouse creamed spinach you've ever had. Creamy and brightened up with fresh olives, I could have it as a standalone meal. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Bryon M.

Yelp
#Eee!!! #ShawarmaTown! I can't believe how blessed I am to have the best Middle Eastern food in a place where I can park! And look at the presentation of the to-go baba ghanouj!

Robyn M.

Yelp
Fabulous hummus - creamy and tasty. All other food is delicious as well. It is a hidden diamond! You can eat in or carry out.
google avatar

R D.

Yelp
First time trying this place. Falafels are really good - light, airy with a hint of mint and lemon. Wonderful. Hummus and baba ghanoush are definitely home made and taste great. Chicken kababs are moist and well marinated. Dolmas are lemony and flavorful with parsley on top. The kofta kabab was a little dry but quite good. The rice is really good - I could taste and mild spices and the flavor was definitely Moroccan. All in all, great food. The proprietor is very friendly and helpful. Lovely experience. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Run, don't walk to get some of this amazing food!!! I was excited to read the reviews of this place and gave it a few weeks before trying. We ordered takeout over the phone and the man who answered was very nice and told us 25min which is pretty reasonable for weekend dinner wait. Now to the good part: the food was simply amazing. I love kabobs and have had my fair share both here and abroad so I have pretty high standards! We ordered the kofta kabob and the chicken kabob as well as the dolmas. The plates come with a generous portion of deliciously seasoned yellow rice, a small and fresh salad, and a generous amount of creamy hummus! The portions of meat were large and they were both well spiced and juicy. The hummus was so good I considered licking my plate but thankfully the giant pieces of pita were a great hummus spoon! Don't look at the photos unless you like to drool! Overall everything was perfect and I could tell that they take each individual part of the meal seriously as even the rice was incredibly tasty. We'll be back for more and I encourage anyone craving a delicious kabob to make the trip to Golden Falafel!

David W.

Yelp
Alright, I've taken the fam here like three times now. First, their falafel is always hot, fresh, and taste amazing. If you enjoy falafel, please do yourself a favor and try either the falafel appetizer or the falafel plate. I would say our favorite dinner is the gyro plate. Again, super fresh and on point. I consider the Golden Falafel our default for Mediterranean in South Denver.

Debbie S.

Yelp
The best Middle Eastern food I have had in Denver ! Amazing hummus, chicken kabab, garlic shrimp and moroccan lentil stew Zack was so warm and welcoming I can't say enough great things about Golden Falafel I look forward to returning soon Thank you , Zack
google avatar

Kaylin R.

Yelp
Family owned, tasty and authentic meals. The customer service is warm and hospitable. Since it's a family-owned restaurant, the service can be a bit slow. However, the food is always tasty. #SupportBlackOwnedRestaurants

Danny R.

Yelp
The falafel and chicken shawarma are both excellent. Lots of regulars coming when we were there which was cool to see. The guy at the counter was friendly and gave us quick efficient service.
google avatar

C A T.

Yelp
The restaurant is clean and smells so good when you walk in. They have vegetarian and meat offerings. We chose the meat combo to go. The serving size was very large and included pita, rice, salad, and yogurt sauce. The meal tasted as good as it smelled.

Molly M.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite spots. The service is great and the food is amazing! Beautiful presentation and wonderful flavors. Everything we've ordered has been delicious. Highly recommend!

J G.

Yelp
Have been many times and tried several dishes. It's always delicious and fresh and they're always friendly. My favorite Mediterranean food in Denver.
google avatar

Amy F.

Yelp
Delicious! Reasonable pricing. Great vegetarian options. So glad I tried it. I will be back.

George D.

Yelp
I recently tried their falafel, and wow it's a treat. I frequently avoid falafel, finding it overly dense and dry but try it at various places to see if it's as good as I've had in Israel. Most places, no amount of dipping sauces can compensate for the texture and moisture level. Golden Falafel hands down has the best I've had in the US. It's lighter, moist and has fresh herbs blended into the mixture. Not to miss.
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
The best Greek food I have had in Denver, and I have been to many Greek restaurants over the years! Perfect falafel- moist inside, crispy outside. Delicious gyros and salads. The hummus was prepared perfectly to-go, so that I could mix it at home for the perfect consistency. Can't wait to go back!

Carla R.

Yelp
Simply the very best Mediterranean food in Denver, and run by the most lovely man! Support this local business. The vegetarian platter was incredible-- sure easy for vegetarian and vegan folks to eat here!

Bryon M.

Yelp
#Eee!!! Zack is the best, and his food is the freshest, best-tasting Middle Eastern food in the area. This is saying a lot because some of the best in the state are in this area! If you want to support a local family and be treated like you are a part of it, the Golden Falafel is the place for you! It has been such a blessing to have these amazing recipes back in the neighborhood! Thank you, Zack! Keep on ShiningStrong!
google avatar

Blake C.

Yelp
Got the veggie combo. It was very good. The place is very casual, not much ambience or atmosphere, but everything on the plate was tasty and fresh.
google avatar

Tom A.

Yelp
This place has great food and very friendly service. Owners are a wonderful family. I highly recommend! The Chicken Shwarma and Hummus is outstanding

Judi M.

Yelp
Absolutely the best!!! The baba ghanuish is by far, the most delicious that I've ever tasted. Everything is fresh and I also love their soups. The portions are large and I find myself often taking something home. The owner is lovely and very personable. The restaurant is small, takeout is posible and it's very clean. My husband and I enjoy it so much that we even went their on our annivesary!

Carly L.

Yelp
The man running the show at this small, family owned restaurant is friendly and takes pride in the food served up here. We ordered the Kofta Kabob and falafel. The food was fresh and came out quick. The Kofta Kabob plate came with a big salad, hummus with pita, and 2 big skewers of meat with a heaping portion of rice. The meat was perfectly spiced and grilled... so good! The hummus was delicious to dip the pita bread in. There's not much to say about in terms of the ambience- it has some basic chairs/tables and that's about it.
google avatar

Tana R.

Yelp
Their veggie platter is absolutely delicious! And the portion was huge so I ended up having two meals in 1. Everything tasted so fresh! Hope to be back soon.
google avatar

Anna L.

Yelp
Best falafel I've ever had! (Making this review halfway through eating because it's that good!)

Joshua W.

Yelp
Family owned restaurant, the owner is very friendly the food is very fresh what else could you ask for! Even gave us some mint tea to drink while we waited. Best gyro place around
google avatar

Kristin A.

Yelp
I've been waiting for this spot to open for a while, and finally made my way there this evening. As a local, I was excited to get a new family-owned restaurant in the area, and now I just want to tell every neighbor I have about this hidden gem. I ordered the lamb chops, and my partner had the falafel sandwich and a mango juice. This is by far the best Mediterranean food I've ever had. Everything is so fresh and delicious- you can tell everything is homemade. Do yourself a favor and order the tea- it's beautiful. Please go support the owner and his wonderful restaurant. Can't wait to eat here again!
google avatar

Miranda S.

Yelp
Listen - if I could give this place 10 out of five stars, I would. It's run by a lovely family who go above and beyond in their customer service. The few times we have ordered takeout, we have been given incredible Moroccan Mint tea to sip while we waited for our orders to be ready. The food itself is like this: if you stood at the gates of Heaven and requested the best Mediterranean food you could find, they'd likely deliver you one of the Golden Falafel entrees with a side of the house mushrooms. Do yourself a favor - support local, eat delicious food that is reasonably priced, and go hike happy knowing you've made an excellent life decision.

Avery B.

Yelp
AMAZING FOOD!! Highly recommend. The service is amazing, portion sizes are awesome and their food is so so yummy
google avatar

Josh P.

Yelp
Incredibly flavorful Mediterranean food. We had gyros, hummus, pita, falafel, rice and salad. Everything was generously spiced and presented nicely in the take away containers. Probably the best Mediterranean food in the area, this will be our go to place from now on. The owner / chef was also super nice on the phone and in person.
google avatar

Elenn S.

Yelp
I love the food here. Fabulous felafel, hummus, baba ganoush, the lamb chops are incredible. Love the schwarma and looking forward to walking through the rest of the menu!
google avatar

Brieanna C.

Yelp
This is by far the best Middle Eastern food of the Denver Metro. The baba ganoush and hummus are the creamiest and most delicious I have ever had. My kids (8 and 10) loved the saffron rice, salmon and the chicken plate and even the falafel (which was fresh and yummy). This is a must find (in a random location in a strip mall, seek it).

Ryk M.

Yelp
Great food at reasonable prices. We got a veggie combo, hummus sandwich, and a baba ganoush sandwich. All were great, and the sandwiches were priced lower but were still adequately filling. The owner was quite friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely be back.
