We loved it here! John at the front desk was awesome and there is so much history. We decided to try two different room types during our stay. The first night was in the historic first 10 rooms in Las Vegas. I loved being so close to history. Here's the deal with those rooms, if you don't mind the noise of the casino or street, they are cool. We spoke with some people that love that noise and stay there just for that atmosphere. We had a suite for the second half and it was my favorite! The room was modern and spacious. The shower had a detachable wand. The bed was perfect. Cool extras: You get to use the pool at the D and Circa because they are sister hotels. You are steps away from everything on Fremont and we loved being able to go when we wanted and have quiet time when we wanted. The old charm was perfect!

Google
I stayed in the old section with the cool 30's style rooms. The room was well maintained and neat/clean. The bathroom was very small with no counter space. The hot water was warm at best. The casino is small and there's nowhere to eat in the hotel. Fortunately, you're on Fremont Street which has a lot of offerings. I was there on a Friday night and Fremont was jumping and extremely loud, which might be your thing.

Had to move room as AC didn't work. Was put in room on 3rd floor right next to speaker for Fremont experience. Very hard to sleep with bass booming most of the night. Bathrooms extremely small. Door hit toilet when you opened. Do not recommend

Google
Our room was not the cleanest and very warm. The AC just seemed to make it more humid. It's LOUD until the bands stop at 2a which is fine, because we were out late. But otherwise, would have been awful to try and sleep. We were directly over stage. We did have the most fun and won the most here though. The staff were ALL very friendly. We actually got drinks too, while we were playing. SHOCKED. A person could die of thirst in most casinos here, waiting for a cocktail. Lol. Not five star for sure. But a good time was had.

Google
Trashy, unhelpful customer service from the hotel staff. Probably the single worst experience I've had as a customer at a hotel. Had an issue with them not accepting a temporary driver's license as a valid form of ID (I'm waiting on the DMV to mail my ID which obviously takes up to 60 days) and we were immediately met with aggression by the staff. In my experience working in customer service, a customer should feel like you're doing everything you can to help them. The supervisor borderline yelled at me when I explained that I only had a temporary ID and wouldn't check me in. I was left feeling hopeless. Had to sit in the dingy lobby for an entire hour sorting out a way to change the booking to my boyfriends name through my travel agent and then ultimately the third party service she booked it through. The lobby staff were too busy chatting it up amongst themselves to answer the phones when my travel agent called to resolve the issue with them which made the process take way longer than it should have, the supervisor refused to do anything but yell and instigate conflict. It was nearly 1am by the time we got to our room after a full exhausting day of traveling. I highly recommend avoiding this establishment. And if the owner reads this, I recommend you check in with your staff to ensure they have the social capacity to work in a customer facing position. This situation occurred between 11pm and 1am on 6/28/25

Google
My dad came to visit and stayed in this casino. I would not recommend this casino based on the staff. If you have a big personality this is not the place for you because the staff get easily irritated when you are trying to goof around from the front desk to the very rude bartenders. As someone who works in casino myself its a big No for me. People come to Vegas to have fun and when you have miserable workers that work for your casino it just ruins the Vegas experience. As for the staff do better for our tourist. Very disappointing. Clean up your attitudes.

Google
Called the hotel to let them know we would arrive late due to a fire and the highway was closed off. When we arrived at the hotel as we got to the front desk staff immediately said they were full. So rude, no eye contact or a hi. So I told them the situation and our room was pre-registered because we arrived late(1am). So they gave us the key and were still rude the whole time. Then we went to the room it was ok, The doorknob in the bathroom was broken, and it just felt like a motel 6. Just not worth it

Google
So sick of coming in here and not being able to get a drink. Not even seeing a waitress. Today was the final straw. Sat at the bar pumping in $100 bills playing fully loaded and the bartenders just at the end of the bar talking to some manager the entire time. Didn't even look my direction. You're never getting another dime out of me.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE to play cards at the Golden Gate (Blackjack). The dealers are knowledgeable and always give you a good time. This is one of 2 casinos that we only gamble at (the other being the Downtown Grand where we stay). Fun environment, always with great music! Cocktail waitresses come often. Just a vibe! Shout out to our new favorites Alora, Jacqui, and I forgot her name but she was from Jersey (so we called her Jersey), (and Gil from the day shift). Great dealers, fun times! Also the guys at the Craps table, THANK YOU for teaching me more about the game! Had a fun time! Julian from Seattle - thanks for a great long weekend!

Yelp
I had written a very long and detailed review of Golden Gate Hotel Casino. One that Yelp! said was "looking pretty epic." But when I clicked post I kept getting an error. I guess it was too long and detailed, so I'll just drop some highlights here instead. If you keep a DND sign on the door for too long a couple folks from security will come bang on your door to do a "welfare check." If you complain to the security supervisors they will treat you like a second rate citizen and completely dismiss your concerns. If you take your complaint to the manager on duty, they will equally dismiss you and then all but call you a liar when you say you've never experienced this issue at sister properties. If you want a hot shower, be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes for the water to get hot. If you want fun dealers, tough shit. Go elsewhere. If you want to be treated like your patronage is appreciated, again go elsewhere. If you're interested in seeing my full review with explanations of all of the above issues, check out the reviews on their Facebook page. I posted my review on 4/25/2025.

Yelp
This is a review for the casino only. I haven't been here in several years, and it was fun to be back. There's something about the old school casinos that have that certain vibe, that gambling smell, that certain feeling that you're going to be lucky! That's what I felt when I walked around here. I don't play cards, but I do enjoy the slots. I played for a half hour only because we wanted to visit other casinos that day, but I can say that I came out ahead. I had fun!

Yelp
We did the Royal pub crawl and visited so many new places. It was nice being off the strip and the pours and pricing are so much better. Fun times.
google avatar

Shonda C.

Yelp
The casino was quaint, but has a nice assortment of slot and table games. I'd definitely recommend this hotel/casino, too.

Yelp
Well it's downtown vegas so you got to go. Air circulation is not great and if you stay here good luck although parking is free. It is worth the visit though if your downtown

Yelp
I really like this small, old but really fun hotel. Today we played craps and went to the pool. The wife and I love this place and it's very safe to say we will be back again soon.

Yelp
Literally the worst experience I have ever had. Could not sleep in my room. The music was blasting and the floors would shake from how loud it was. I had to sleep with my AirPods Pro in my ears and could still hear the music. Also the door of the room was not fully sealed. Would not come back.

Erica T.

Yelp
Booked this hotel specifically for the "Original 10 Experience" which included an original 10 room AND tickets to the Mob Museum. Upon checking in, we were not provided tickets to the mob museum. If you choose to book, I would suggest NOT paying extra for the "Original 10 Experience", all you will get for paying extra is a smaller room. Young lady at check in was nice but other than that service customer service is subpar at very best.

Yelp
I loved the history of this 116 year old hotel. The rooms are small, and it has a limited TV package. Also, WARNING, if you are a light sleeper LOUD music from Fremont Street Experience goes until 2 AM. That being said, the low table limits, and history make it worthwhile as long as the cost is $$. I stayed for $80 including the resort fee. BONUS!! This property is owned by Derek Stevens, owner of the Circa. Stay here and get admission to Circa STADIUM SWIM for free! ($40 Value) Recommend!

Yelp
Bar Prohibition! was the 3rd stop on the Royal bar crawl. Super crowded and didn't have an open seats. We decided to choose a shot for this location before making our way to the next area.

Yelp
This is a nice little stop @ the end of Fremont street. They have an outside bar & a stage right out front where you can always catch a band playing or a DJ playing some music. Fun little spot. Inside is nice, kinda small. They use to make some really yummy "Girl Scout Cookie" shots for St Paddy's day but the last time I was in here for them the bartender didn't really know how to make them....I had to tell him "look it up." Why would you tell your customer you don't know how to make something??? LOL Its definitely an easy place to get dropped off at when doing ride share or getting a ride. Its easy to get in & out of, avoid the crowd. I want to say I believe I stayed here once in upgraded to a cute little suite room. Was nice & would stay here again.

Yelp
Okay, so if you're thinking Vegas equates to luxury, think again.... We were attending an event at the Smith Center and wanted to stay at a nearby place for the night. This was pretty darn close. What I learned when we checked in is this is the first hotel opened in Vegas. They have attempted to maintain the 1906 character in the original ten rooms. We stayed in original room #1, which is now room 215. The room was small, but it was clean. The bathroom was really small, kind of reminds you of being on a cruise ship. They have added a couple updates since 1906 in these original rooms; like a TV and telephone. There's no restaurant, pool, spa, or room service on site; but, this hotel is part of a hotel group on Fremont Street, with Circa and D, and you can show your room key and use those facilities' amenities. The front desk clerk, Don, was awesome. He explained the room options and made it possible for us to stay in the original room. I won't hesitate to stay here again if I go to another event at the Smith Center. I definitely wouldn't bring my kids. In fact, I don't think I'd bring them to Fremont Street at all, and for sure I wouldn't bring them after dark!

Yelp
First time staying at the Golden Gate ! I loved it! Awesome room, the staff were very friendly, the Valet guys too. I'll be back.

Yelp
While on my trip to LVS I took the trip from the main strip to go to the Fremont street experience and stopped to gamble here. I gave my players card to a pit boss who then returned it to me by throwing it at me and it falling off the table onto the floor. I called him out on it and he not apologize or really did not give a shit. Do not recommend even stopping here when down on fremont. Well, this is the only person I had an issue with and really maybe not a big deal to many but there are so many other casinos down here that will show you better courtesy and simply better manners.

Yelp
It was a place to sleep. Like most places, it smelled terrible. I had a creepy corsage pinned by my door one night when coming back and front desk was not concerned but nothing came of it anyways. Some outlets in the room didn't work. The curtains were thin so too much light came through. But to top it off our room had the best view of Fremont which was also right at the end of the zip line and right over a stage. If I wasn't careful I could have free fell right out the French door like window.
google avatar

Jeremy J.

Yelp
We stopped in here for a few drinks in the play. A few of the slot machines they have. Downtown Vegas awesome experience, but all the little hotel casinos kind of running to the same and really hard to differentiate.

Yelp
Rough & Dank-2 of the descriptive words I can use to describe the hotel rooms. I booked a 2 bed room and got a bare minimum room. Were there 2 beds-yes. But between the carpet that turned my white socks black, the bathroom with either cold as balls or the devil's backyard water temperature, if I'd known the room was like this, I wouldn't have booked. Bonus: when I asked the housekeeper for more than 2 towels (there were 3 of us in the room) she said 2 was good. Awesome! If you have a discount for a room or even a comp room, re-gift it to someone you don't like. Say you got them a hotel room in LV that has "history" written all over it.

Yelp
I stayed here for EDC Las Vegas & it was the worst experience I've had at a hotel by far. The parking lot is far & they had no trolleys available so I had to wait 20+ mins for one so I could bring my heavy luggage from the parking lot all the way to the room. There's no microwave available so don't expect that during your stay. The room is extremely small and there's a big step going from the room to the bathroom that you could trip on if you aren't careful. Even if you ask for non-smoking, the room will smell completely of smoke. My first night staying here I had someone that was clearly high off of drugs banging on my door trying to get in. I told them they have the wrong room and to stop banging on my door, but this woman stayed outside for over an hour trying to look into my room and the rooms nearby. My last night, I hear people banging on my door yet again. It's 11pm and I hear a man yell, "WELLNESS CHECK!" I've never once had anyone bang on my door in Vegas saying such a thing so I tell them to hold on, and they continue banging/yelling. I'm a woman who was asleep in the room hearing men banging on my door, so obviously, I could only think the worst & felt extremely terrified at this point. I peep out the door & see 3 men in suits, so I crack the door open & they let me know that they're doing a protocol wellness check for every guest. Never have I ever heard this in my life. I say I'm fine & they leave. It wasn't a "cheap" price staying here, but it was definitely a CHEAP experience. I will continue to let people know to never stay here. If you do, please stay vigilant & safe. There are shady people here & anything can happen.

Yelp
not good guys and gals I'm a one card member and I've had problems before tonight, my slot wen down. security showed up after about 10 min of service button initiated. they said they would return with my $114 that was hung up in the machine. waited for quite a while. my wife finally went outside to get some air. that's when I got upset. tried to find security but had no luck. then went to the one card desk...there was Jeffery as I had dealt with him earlier in the night he told me he couldnt call anyone or help and that I needed to find a floor slot manager or something similar. I got upset because, where would I find that person????? Thanks for the great service Jeffery, hope you thrive with Golden Gate Anyway, folks just know what you are getting into with Golden Gate, Circa and the D (all the same company). stay and gamble somewhere else

Yelp
We came here as part of the Royal Bar crawl. The bar was incredibly smoky which is to be expected in a casino bar. The bar's website has a cocktail menu. We ordered a cocktail off their cocktail menu and the bar tender didn't even know how to make it. The drinks were incredibly weak as well.

Yelp
So total reviews aren't great but clearly in Las Vegas there are many unhappy customers who lose their shorts and take it out on the venue. While I did also lose here, what I want to highlight was the black jack dealers were friendly and communicative. Unlike other casinos on the strip where the dealers are more like masked covered robots, my brother and I enjoyed a couple hours at the table having a couple of "free" beers and losing our money. And since you should always assume you are going to lose your money the only thing left is to have a good time while they fleece you! The Golden also had lower minimum tables than seems now the norm, and did pay 3:2 where the big boys have dropped to 6:5. This meant we could lose "slower". So, next visit I won't waste too much time at the other big casinos and save my card playing for a relatively quiet old style casino on Fremont street. By the way, the Casino has great glass sound proofing as the bands and noise actually on Fremont was measured by SoundPrint at over 100 decibels...

Yelp
I love Golden Gate for it's history alone! One of, if not the, oldest hotels in the state of Nevada! The nostalgia oozes from the walls of this place when you think about the famous folks that have passed through this place! From the bar that Frank & Sammy themselves frequented, you yourself can drink from it and soak in the history! My advice is to skip the more modern bar dancers on the outside of the place, and step inside from Fremont St and make your way back to the main bar for a little R&R. The bartenders are nice, and make a fair drink for the price. Before exiting, walk towards the hotel lobby and take in the historical pictures of the place and downtown Vegas!

Yelp
This was my first, and last time, staying at the Golden Gate. I wanted some comps and love historical things, so this seemed like it was going to be interesting. The rooms were vintage and small but no problem. It definitely gave the feel of what Vegas would have been like back in the day. Check in was great and the front desk was super nice. I knew what I was signing up for by using comps and was given a room right off of Fremont St. and in front of the musical stage, but we worked around it in terms of bed time. The biggest downfall to this stay was the unknown "welfare check" they do if you keep your "do not disturb" sign up for more than a day. We got in extremely late on a Wednesday night and kept the sign up not thinking about it. Around 4pm on Friday, while we were getting ready to go to an event, there was this incredibly aggressive knocking and laughing from outside of our door. We originally thought it was a couple of drunk people who confused their room with ours. My partner answered the door and it turned out to be a couple of security guards who insisted they come in and check the room. I was in my skivvies, around the corner, and told them no and that we were fine. They argued that they had to do it and kept trying to come into the room. I popped my head around the corner and said I wasn't decent and to not come in. They told my partner they had to come into any room with a sign up for more than a couple of days because of the tragedy that happened in the past. They did eventually leave and I called the front desk who said it wasn't related to that, so I asked to speak to the security department. The gentleman there stated it actually was because of that and they do checks a few times a day whether we're in the room or not. I told him I was concerned because I wasn't decent and they wanted to come in anyway and he said, "Anyone can say they're naked and ask us not to come in." I explained I understood the reasoning behind it but that the execution was incredibly poor. No apologies or empathy. We kept our sign off after that and, apparently, the housekeepers come in daily which must constitute as their "checks". Lodger beware - don't have your sign up more than a day unless you want a very unprofessional "welfare check" at inconvenient hours. People watching out of the room window was 10/10 though. Gambling in the casino wasn't bad but drink service could've been better. If you have comps, use them elsewhere. Cheers!

Yelp
I didn't stay here, but wanted to leave a review because of how good the blackjack dealers are. I spent a few days on Fremont street with a friend just to gamble. I bounced around all of the downtown casinos and all of them offered about the same experience with poor odds. On my last night, I decided to check out Golden Gate. Finally I found Blackjack tables that paid 3:2 on blackjack without the extra gimmicks(like mandatory side bets). The dealers however took the experience to a whole new level. Not only were they very knowledgeable and efficient, but extremely friendly and fun. They actually seemed to enjoy the job. It was the most fun I've ever had playing blackjack. If they can keep the same formula this will be my go to place to gamble in all of Vegas.

Yelp
Checked out of this low budget grungy hotel. Rooms are tiny and out dated. Came into town to celebrate my friend's engagement which was great with the exception of our accommodations. The "Golden Gate" Hotel. The first night we were placed in a double queen room over looking the main stage on Fremont Street. Couldn't sleep until the band stopped, maybe 2 am. My traveling companion asked the front desk to change rooms. We were told we'd have to vacate the room and wait for a room to open up. We were displaced for 5.5 hours. When reassigned a room we had a king and a roll away bed. The roll away bed was the worst bed I have ever slept on. Upon checking out, i was told that we were charged to " Upgrade" my traveling companion authorized an up charge of to my credit card. Not sure thats legal. I just got off the phone with Calvin the front desk supervisor who was zero help, closed minded and dismissed. I explained that we had only requested a room change not an upgrade. Only to escape the noise. I asked how someone else could authorize and up charge on my credit card and his answer made zero sense. So In the end Calvin would not refund the up charge and I got to stay at this run down casino, get very little sleep due to noise and a beat up roll away bed. I'm a retired Fire Chief Officer and pride myself to promote excellence in customer service when serving the community and consulting now. The customer service at the Golden Gate was poor for the time we requested a room change till check out. Calvin was the icing on the cake. If you're looking to stay in a run down hotel with loud, small outdated rooms with a stubborn management philosophy, then this is your place. I Just saw that I received a refund for the room change. Calvin came through. He demonstrated leadership and good customer service. Unfortunately because of the initial customer service I received and two sleepless nights, I'm leaving the review but added a star to my rating. Thanks for doing the right thing

Jeff W.

Yelp
I stayed at Golden Gate in 2021, so sorry if this review is a little late. I stayed four nights in a standard room. True, the room was small, but I knew that would be the case, so, no complaints. The hot water in the shower was hit or miss, but it is an old building. I did hear noise from Fremont Street, even though I was not in a room facing Fremont. However, the bed was nice. If I had any major complaint about the room, it might be that it was a bit awkward to eat takeout from Saginaw's that I got at Circa; For the standard rooms, management might do well to put TV trays in each room (they could be stored in the closet), or have them available at the front desk, or something. They might also expand the TV channels they offer. I missed an episode of Star Trek: TNG that I had wanted to see. The price was right, and I was after value, as well as the sense of history (which Golden Gate has in abundance-Just look at the display cases). Now that I am a Vegas local, I have been back for the casino a couple of times, and I still love it, although the video blackjack machines were big meanies to me last time :-( I would say that if you are staying at Golden Gate, you should look at all of Fremont Street (or Downtown) as "the hotel," with Golden Gate as your home base. Golden Gate may not have their own restaurant, but you are hardly hurting for food options within walking distance, and entertainment is easily found on Fremont.

Yelp
This is a decent hotel, as long as you know what you are in for. The pretty black girl with the pierced nose at the front desk was very nice, and a pleasure to have check us in. It's the oldest hotel in Vegas. Over 100 years old! It has certainly been updated and remodeled, but not all that much. Just don't expect some ultra modern high tech place. It's old fashioned, but that's what's cool about it. It's usually one of the cheapest hotels around Freemont, but still overpriced on weekends. Just like all Vegas hotels. If you want peace and quiet this is not the hotel for you. If you don't mind a fun party atmosphere, complete with sexy girls dancing on the tables, and LOUD, I mean LOUD music coming from Freemont Street til 1 or 2 am then this is for you. Our room was overlooking Freemont Street, and all 3 nights we were here there was an 80's Hair Metal concert about 30 feet from our bed til 2 am! Thankfully I love that kind of music! But it was LOUD. Literally, a Heavy Metal concert a few feet from our bed! Not to mention zip liners whizzing by our window. We actually liked it, because it was just wild and crazy fun, over the top. And this was the first Vegas hotel I've ever seen where the room windows totally open up all the way. You can actually fall out if you were not careful, and drunk and crazy or something LOL! The room was comfortable. We had the room with 2 beds. It was a decent size. Everything was good with the room except as soon as we got there we saw a cockroach, or waterbug in the sink. My friend captured it and threw it out the window and we never saw it again. I told the guy at the desk hoping he'd comp us a resort fee or something, but no such luck. He just claimed he never heard of anything like that happening before (yeah right!). This hotel is right in the heart of the action, and walking distance to everything around Freemont. The parking was free, and right next to the hotel. And had security on bicycles cruising around the lots. I loved the fact that we got to use the Circa hotels Stadium Pool for free. It's the same owners. That was what sold me on the Golden Gate. I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
The rooms smell like mildew. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. The only good thing was the valet staff. They were super nice. We couldn't stay because of my medical condition and the mildew and they refused to refund our money

Yelp
The music is overpowering and way too loud. We can't even concentrate. Left within 10 minutes after trying to gamble.

Yelp
I was sitting at the bar playing and the blond lady bartending called security on me because I ate a chip!! can you believe that!! a chip!! She was so rude serving me as well!! And they tell me they upgraded my room and that was a big lie!! Same room I got last time only difference was where the bathroom door was!! NEVER GIVING THEM MY MONEY AGAIN!

Jill L.

Yelp
Karson the bartender was great! go see him a chat for a bit. He makes great drinks and takes care of you!

Yelp
Fking trash hotel. They don't care your room request. They will give you random room. I request a non -smoking room. When I check in the fking front desk they don't tell you what kind the room you will get. And they don't mention is a smoking room or non smoking room. Fking trash hotel.

Yelp
Let me preface this by saying this review is for the bar. Luis is a ghetto, ingrate bartender. Yes, I said it. So I was ordering drinks from the Prohibition bar and the lady and gentleman serving me prior were extremely nice. I was playing Black Jack on the machine so the lady told me drinks were free. Awesome! My friend came by and I ordered her a drink that I knew I had to pay for (a beer). A little while after I decided to order a drink for myself, which is typically complimentary. He charged me because he said I wasn't playing "max bet." Wow. I have never EVER been at a casino where they require a max bet. I am not a serial gambler; I play for fun. I paid for the drink and joked that the lady before him offered complimentary drinks since I was playing. He then got super defensive out of nowhere and told me that my previous tip was not good enough. I was shocked AF! I have never. Ever. Experienced a bartender telling me that my tip wasn't good enough. Then he charged me for the drink and said I wasn't his friend because I didn't tip him enough. I have never had to undergo such a poor bar experience, even after I tipped. I could understand if I didn't tip. I pretty much ordered a beer for a friend so he probably expected $5 to open a beer. Ridiculous! Sorry you have to do your job. Smh. So rude and unprofessional.

Yelp
Groupon deal on a Thursday arrival. $100 deposit and in the end after resort fees grand total maybe just short of $60 (after deposit return). Got upgraded to a 2 bedroom for free which was perfect cause I had my 2 teenagers. So 2 queen beds. Score! Prime location to visit Fremont street. Parking valet is free for guests but work off tips. Honestly they were SUPER friendly. 1st impression sold me so a good tip was left each time. Room itself is small but perfect for our needs. We're just there to sleep and shower/toiletry needs. The only downside is that the air filters don't clear the fumes very well. Money saved here went to making more memories with the kids and getting good eats! Would definitely return... I've had worse as far as the fumes but beds and AC were good. Cheers!

Yelp
HOTEL OVERVIEW: This historic hotel was okay. The staff was super! The accommodations clean. The weirdness was the front desk area (try finding it coming in from Fremont St). It's in an out of the way location. Not sure what the thinking was for that decision. The tiny elevator (there's only one) was a little frightening for a few reasons. One being I kept wondering if it would get stuck. Thankfully, it didn't. Two, if there were an emergency and we had to get out of the building quickly, no way we'd do it with one elevator. Yes, stairways should be taken during an emergency but try finding the doors to the stairway. They're hidden and one of the visible ones near my room was padlocked from the inside. ROOMS: small but nothing unusual if you'd been to hotels in NY, SF, or London. The bathroom is tiny. The door only goes halfway back because the toilet is right behind it, then sink, then tub. Everything was clean. I have nothing but compliments about that. VIEWS: non-existent except to look at HVAC tubing our across at windows of the other hotel guests. Yes, it's noisy - the musical entertainment is right outside the hotel. It turns off after midnight. LOCATION: tons of homeless men, many who are severely mentally disturbed milling about and/or loitering. Stay on GUARD so that you don't become a crime victim. Outside of Fremont Street, it's rare to see "regular people" walking around so there isn't safety in numbers. Understandably tourists wouldn't be walking around since the homeless outnumber security forces. It just doesn't feel safe. SAFETY: As a solo woman traveler, I kept my eyes wide open at all times. There was some security presence, especially during the early evenings when tourists start showing up for the "Fremont Experience". However, the rest of the time, late night and early morning before noon, you're on your own.

Yelp
Hotel had a ton of history, and is located right on the corner of Downtown Las Vegas. The rooms here are not worth the cost. We did have an amazing experience with front desk personnel. One over all stood out the most. Travis was one of the best. He was positive, very chill, and never got stressed. He was Albert to help and go above and beyond. He is a 5 star employee but the hotel is a 2.

Yelp
Got a room for the night! Just chilling downtown! Room 408. Right on the corner of Fremont & Main St. This room must have a lot of history. Nice clean room in one of the oldest hotels in the west. Good times!! When I was a kid my dad would buy me these tasty shrimp cocktails from here. Back when Fremont had four lanes of two way traffic. Okay peace out.

Yelp
Amazing hotel and rooms. Have a choice of either the noisy side of Fremont of away from Fremont. Me and my girlfriend were accommodated correctly. Amenities work perfectly. This is as of 12/29/23. Don't listen to those other yelpers. This is a hidden gem. 10/10 reccomend.

Yelp
Terrible hotel, any pictures you see of the rooms are very misleading about cleanliness or amenities not to mention even as a smoker a smoking room smells horrible.

Yelp
Casino Review Only This place is one reason I love Downtown Vegas verses The Strip - let me clarify that statement some - I wouldn't book a room here I don't think, but what a fun atmosphere to play the tables. I don't ever remember a more friendlier staff at any casino I've ever spent time in. I love bouncing around casinos and there's no better place to do this than downtown - this was my first visit inside this nostalgic venue, and it was definitely love at first sight. We came here to play cards and up to this point that meant Texas Hold'em, traditional or ultimate it seems every casino has some form of this table game in their repertoire the only game that has more versions and more presence is blackjack. As we were looking over our options I noticed a lone card table hosting a game that has almost gone extinct in today's modern casino - if I had to tag a card game that's paid me the most money over the years there's no doubt it's "Let it Ride". At $5.00 minimum bet you play the antes - three card poker option and the bonus you're all in for $21.00 per hand, conservative play allows you to draw back $10.00 (straight flush pays 200:1 my best one hand ever netted six grand with a $30 bet on the table, unfortunately not this trip). Okay this place is not only about the card tables and slots - the pours are super generous and they are delivered by amazingly friendly servers no body knows customer service like Vegas and Golden Gate Hotel & Casino has the market cornered everyone here smiles and the money flows like a river just hope your downstream lol. Three days in Vegas and this place rocked it the best and it has nothing to do with winning or losing - if you want to have a few hours of fun this is where you'll find the locals, the music, the dancing dealers and good vibes...

Yelp
Worst Vegas hotel I've stayed at, when we first walked in the ac was rattling like a chainsaw. We called maintenance to fix it and when we came back it was still rattling. We just turned it off and tried to deal with the summer heat. The worst part was our room right next to Fremont Street. The windows were so thin and the stage was constantly playing loud music there was no way we could sleep. I asked the front desk if we could move rooms, she said no and informed me that they would not stop blasting heavy metal into our room until 2 am. I tried ear plugs, white noise blasting in my AirPods nothing worked. After hours of music and heat we gave up and booked another room at the 77 hotel and left so stay their

Yelp
Casinos in Vegas don't get any older than Golden Gate. It has been around longer than nearly every other structure in the city. The hotel part definitely looks like it's been there a long time. It smells in the casino. They also used to have a restaurant. The building has been there almost forever. It opened as the Hotel Nevada in 1906. This eventually became the casino and hotel it is today. Like many casinos on Fremont, it's easily accessible. This is located very close to Binion's and the Golden Nugget. It's easy to move between each. There's also many other casinos that aren't far. As for the hotel, it's old but it's been getting renovated for awhile. The dining options have suffered since the Du-Par's restaurant closed a few years ago. It was known for the cheap shrimp cocktail. They also had big pancakes. If you stay in the hotel you should know it can get loud at night. This is right next to the Fremont Street Experience main stage. Golden Gate is the oldest place you can stay in Vegas. It sure looks and smells like it. The prices aren't that bad, and it's close to many other things on Fremont Street.

Yelp
A drunk woman beating on doors broke the fire escape door and it went off non stop at 3am. I cracked the door to see who was knocking, security or staff. She tried pushing my door in when I answered it saying get out of her way she needed to use my bathroom hurting my neck. I called security, nobody came, alarm still going off, girl still wandering around knocking on doors. A 60 year old man came out in his underwear now. Finally I go to the front desk and saw a security guard on the way. I took him to the problem I went to bed. The alarm was broken still going off and on. Can't sleep with that so I went to the front desk demanding my money back I wanted to leave. At 4am, since they refused and didn't like my attitude they put me on final warning, restricted me to my room and said don't come out. There's nobody here that will refund you, called security to threaten me. I asked for a manager, got a final warning. Not kidding do not stay here, it has went to complete garbage. They require a huge deposit per day that is more than the room. If you stay 10 days the deposit is $500. They threatened me at the elevator because they said I hit the elevator button too hard. Screaming at me. At 4am. You would need to be stupid to stay here. We never have any problems at Binions, Goir Queens, Hotel Apache. Go there. This place has bad staff. This is what happens to Veterans who go here on the 20% hero rate.

Yelp
DO NOT STAY HERE!! In my opinion This hotel has to be infested with COCKROACHS !! We had family staying on the 3rd floor and their room had cockroaches and we were on 2nd floor and ended up having the biggest cockroach we have ever seen! and when we complained to the supervisor they offered me a refund of $33 for one night resort fee! I'm beyond disgusted and frustrated that we had to endure this nastiness!! i will not recommend this hotel to anyone ever!

Yelp
Let me start off by saying I was nervous af staying here based on the reviews. Second, it wasn't bad at all. We got placed in a room directly above Fremont street and yes it was loud but I ain't no complainer when it comes to the good music that was being played. We actually enjoyed opening our curtains and enjoying the jams. Put in my AirPods and I was out like a light. I must make a special shout out to the beds they used haha out of all the hotel beds I've been on these were the most comfortable. Through and through I would stay here again. It's cheap, comfortable and let's be real it's Vegas you won't even be in the room 90% of the time. It's a great place to shower and pass out

Yelp
Another forgettable downtown casino. The downtown casinos have clearly spent a lot of money to update their slot product, but ultimately the amenities just can't compete with those of the strip.

Yelp
I'm staying in one of the 1906 rooms and it's cool. So much history here. And the location is excellent. My room is 02 of the 10 oldest rooms. I'm off Fremont Street so it's not so loud. I can see The Plaza from my window. So I'm a bit down Main Street off Fremont Street. I can hear the music but it's not super loud. Definitely a memorable feel. I definitely will stay here again.

Yelp
THE WORSE PLACE I EVER STAYED EVER!!! Went to this hotel yesterday just for the night since I was passing by Vegas for work, the price is cheap so you'll literally get what you'll paying! I knew that it's wasn't going to be luxurious but I was expecting at least the AC to be working. The room was like an oven and when I called the receptionist the guy didn't give a sh** and said that the only solution was going to bring me a $10 fan which didn't solve the problem at all. The building is old with dirty carpets an looks like the rooms never been updated. Don't wast your money here, chose another hotel per $20 or $30 extra per night but for sure you will have a little more comfort than in the Golden gate hotel casin
