A Houston Billionaire Restaurateur Behind Morton’s and Bubba Gump Shrimp Might Serve in President-Elect Donald Trump’s Administration | Eater Houston

"This Louisiana casino is overseen by Tilman Fertitta, the Houston-based restaurateur who owns Landry's, Inc.; CBS News reports that sources with knowledge say he is set to be named the U.S. Ambassador to Italy. He owns more than 600 properties nationwide and oversees various casinos and restaurants, and a representative for his team said they are not commenting on the matter. Questions remain about his qualifications to serve as ambassador, particularly since he has never held public office; his Italian connections — his family is of Sicilian descent and he owns an Italian restaurant now located in Houston's Harlow District — are cited in that context. Politically, he has given $420,000 to PACs backing Donald Trump and hosted numerous fundraisers; Trump called him "a friend of mine for a long time," and Fertitta called Trump "a tough landlord" while praising his support for businesses during the pandemic." - Brittany Britto Garley

Valet, Front desk and casino were all great. Room was very nice. Coffee pot missing holder in pot for the coffee pod. Had to make coffee in cup same as tea. Small refrigerator would be nice for leftovers or for people who need for medicine. Would of been nice to have in room.

I brought my family for a last trip before starting school. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the overall service was very good. We booked a cabana on our second day, and it started off absolutely terrible. Our server never showed up, and we had issues with the speakers in the cabana. We were on the verge of leaving a negative review and asking for a refund when Trista showed up. Though not her section, she apologized for the issues we were having and took AMAZING care of us. Eventually management moved her to be our server and she had engineering come down and fix our audio. we were there for about 7 hours, and Trista took the absolute best care of us. I was able to talk to a few supervisors to let them know they had a gem in Trista, and that we will definitely be back because of her. Hands down, BEST service We have ever received from any Resort.

Definitely not worth $600 a night. Check-in is 4pm. We didn’t arrive until 5pm and was first told there were no clean rooms. After explaining we had diner reservations at Vic & Anthony’s (which was phenomenal) and that we needed to shower and change, they found a room. Most of the plug-ins in the room did not work. There was only 2 that actually worked. There was 3 of us so we couldn’t all charge our phones at the same time. There was neither a microwave nor refrigerator in the room. No fitted sheets on the bed. Only a flat sheet laid over the mattress. Dirty linen and towels in bags were piled in the hallway all night and the next day. I would expect a lot better for $600 a night. Will not stay here again.

We have stayed here many times. Pros: Nice spacious clean rooms. Ample light in the rooms. Fast and efficient valet and bell service. Many great restaurants. There is a Starbucks on property. Check in is fast even on heavy days. Comfortable bedding. The pool area is gorgeous. There is a lazy river. Cons: You have request having your bed made each day. When checking out, I've always had to go down to the bell desk to request someone to come get our bags. They do not supply shower caps in the bathroom. Room service menu is limited and difficult to order from. I end up going downstairs to order "to go".

We had an amazing time at the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles! From the moment we walked in, the energy was great—lively but not overwhelming. The casino floor is spacious, clean, and full of game options, whether you like slots, poker, or table games. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the service overall was top-notch. We also enjoyed the variety of restaurants and bars on-site—there’s something for every taste, and everything we tried was delicious. The pool area is beautiful and perfect for relaxing during the day, and the live music at night adds the perfect touch. It’s a great spot for a quick getaway, and we’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend if you’re looking for fun, food, and a little luck!

From the moment I arrived at the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, Cheryl Roland made my experience unforgettable. She’s not just a casino host—she’s a total pro with a warm, personal touch. Cheryl went above and beyond to make sure every detail of my stay was perfect. From personalized attention to thoughtful touches that made me feel like a true VIP, she handled everything with grace and genuine care.||If you’re planning a trip to the Golden Nugget, ask for Cheryl—you’ll be in the best hands. Her professionalism, hospitality, and dedication to guest satisfaction are unmatched. She’s the reason I keep coming back. Five stars aren’t enough!

The Golden Nugget is such a fun spot! Good food, good vibes, and friendly staff who make you feel right at home. Portions are generous, everything tastes fresh, and the service is quick although the prices are on the high side. The rooms were clean and super spacious. Perfect place to relax, grab a bite, or hang out with friends. Definitely coming back!

Google
When looking at room prices, you need to also add the $29 resort fee, plus other typical taxes and fees! There were so many extra charges added on our basic room price. When you walk in, you are greeted by a strong cigarette smell. Check-in is slow and needs to be re-evaluated for efficiency. Service at the pool bar is slow and no-one is in a hurry. Also, water isn’t available anywhere without paying for it. Billionaire Fertitta needs to revamp this whole casino and require every employee to take a class on customer service. If you want to be considered a high end hotel, there needs to be water available by registration. No refrigerators or microwaves in the regular rooms. Rooms are not cleaned daily; you are lucky to get fresh towels and coffee. Don’t get me started on the older ladies that give you a player’s card. 🙄 Overall- huge disappointment.

Yelp
I felt it was time to update my previous review. During our recent stay, we made reservations for the newer Rush Tower, but were given a room in the older Gold Tower. These rooms are definitely showing their age. When we tried to get into our room the door lock mechanism was "dead". They had to call maintenance to replace the battery. Paint was peeling from the ceiling, the glass on the sliding door was cloudy and the mattress was worn out. They need to update these rooms and put USB/AC outlets next to the beds. The current AC outlets have been used so many times, the plug just falls out. We had to use the outlets at the little table. The Casino itself needs a smoke free section, like almost every other Casino we visit. Also, there were no virtual blackjack and only four roulette machines. There just didn't seem to be a lot of the games we are used to seeing/playing? Plus, there is no longer a trolley that goes back and forth to the Casinos. As far as the restaurant situation, only the Claim Jumper and Saltgrass are open on Monday and Tuesday and some of the others don't open until Thursday. So your choices are limited Mon-Wed. I think it will be quite a while before we visit here again. There are much better Casinos in Oklahoma that we patronage.

Yelp
My husband and I had such an amazing time at the Golden Nugget! The food was great, the beds were comfortable, the drinks were amazing and everything was clean! Typically at a casino you don't really get a clean environment but even though the Golden Nugget smells like a pack of Newports when you enter, it's clean! Unfortunately and Fortunately....i do NOT gamble! Even if someone else gave me money and said "Hey! Go play this in a machine." I will pocket your cash and lie and say I lost it all! I was there for drinks and a good time! As long as you are playing your money in a machine it looks like they'll come around and give you free drinks. We ate at Claim Jumper, the sushi place and got ice cream!! All were great! We also ate at the Mexican restaurant and my food was awful! YUCK! Don't eat there! During one of our drunken day parties someone bought is pizza and it was absolutely spectacular!!! The cheese and the sauce were top tier! The hotel room was pretty spacious and over all it was very clean. I was excited about that. Our room in particular had a pull back curtain by the tub. If you get too wasted, you'll forget the tub is there and fall in it! Beware!! There was also a balcony which we didn't use but was nice to have. I didn't like the pillows but the bed was super comfy. Spend time at the pool if you can. We had such a good time out there. While it is family friendly, there are several areas to get drinks. Even a swim up bar with TVs. Golden Nugget is such a good time! I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We went for a friends bday, we booked the cabana specificity for the lazy river. When we got there, the lazy river was under construction. It was not specified on the website that it was closed and the website gave us the option to book a cabana close to the lazy river. We also paid extra for 2 champagne bottles that came with the cabana and when we got there the manager said they don't do that anymore. They did end up giving us the champagne since we paid but we had to push them to do it. Also when we ordered food the food comes out in a to-go bag and all the fries and onion rings were soggy cause they put it in bags. They did make us new ones and didn't charge us so was happy about that. I think if the website was up to date I would have given them at least a 4 star but because we came specifically for the lazy river and paid all this money for a cabana was disappointing. we made the best of it.

Yelp
I recently visited The Golden Nugget, as I do often. I normally love the hospitality that surrounds me. This time that I visited was not very enjoyable. The areas that I played slots in were disgusting, multiple ash trays overflowing with cigarettes, empty bottles surrounding more than one slot machine, That I like to play at. I had to ask a cleaning person if they had something to wipe the machines from the spilt glasses and beer bottles piled up. My favorite spot to hangout is Rush Lounge, there are 3 wonderful bartenders that I see on occasion while I'm visiting. Rush has enjoyable music... for the most part. But the hospitality of the bartenders is always satisfying. Brandon, I know has been there for a long time, has always been on point with his drinks and very kind. Randi who I normally have at the bar by the lilies restaurant, I see her sometimes in the rush bar, she is always a nice lady, very attentive to serving me, and my friends, she takes her job very serious the other lady who I see in rush, I think her name name is Elizabeth or Liz or something like that long dark blonde hair. I visit mostly during the week on Tuesday and Wednesday, that's when I see them the most, she comes off as this very serious with her job too, she is a very serious person until You get to know her. She's very kind and has a very unique personality, very warm and genuine once you get to know her. I look Forward to coming back in hopes that the tidiness is addressed and to visit my favorite area with service and music.

Yelp
The painted sidewalk sucks when it's raining. I fell and stained my hip and damaged my knee. And if you are looking for a seafood buffet it's not at the golden nugget anymore.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place zero stars. My experience at the Golden Nugget Lake Charles Casino was a complete disaster from start to finish. We specifically chose this hotel because it advertised having EV charging stations, and I even called the front desk to confirm. They assured me there were chargers on the second and third floors, but when we arrived, there were *no* EV stations to be found anywhere. We wasted an hour circling the parking lot and casino grounds in search of one, only to discover there was a charger 15 minutes away from the casino. This wild goose chase made us miss our check-in time for the cabana we paid $400 for, cutting into the time we had to enjoy the pool. The nightmare continued once we finally got into the casino. The gambling tables were absolutely filthy--dirt and food stains all over the roulette tables, which is unacceptable in any establishment, let alone one that charges $400 a night for a room. Speaking of the room, it was horrendous. It was so dirty that we couldn't even stay the night. There were blood stains on the carpet and the bedsheets, and a smooshed spider on the window. It was worse than any motel I've ever stayed in. To make matters worse, the hotel was sold out, so they couldn't even offer us a clean room. I felt extremely uncomfortable, and the room was definitely not kid-friendly. I was genuinely concerned for my daughter's safety and well-being. Golden Nugget Lake Charles Casino is not worth your time, money, or peace of mind. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Stay far away.

Yelp
I was looking so forward to checking this place out. I was not impressed. The casino floor is super loud and the staff is mediocre in friendliness. Every slot machine, I sat down at, had a glare from the lights above, bouncing right in my eyes. The wine served on the casino floor was extremely cheap and therefore gave me a bad headache after only two glasses. Slots are not loose. I did not check out any of the restaurants because I don't go to a casino to eat. I was in and out of there in under an hour and a half. Just terribly disappointed it wasn't better than I experienced. I'll pop in on my next visit to give it another shot. Really hoping my next visit changes my opinion on the first visit.

Yelp
Interesting stay at Golden Nugget for a big birthday celebration. So lucky to be invited on a regatta trip from Clear Lake via the intercoastal waterway to Lake Charles. The boating trip was beautiful. Excited as the boat docked three hours after leaving the marina from the Houston suburb. Golden Nugget is a Landry's property. So other than the Casino, the amenities are Landry's staples like Cadillac Bar (check your checkout statement), Landry's Seafood, Lillie's, Grotto and Vic & Anthony's. See separate reviews for the restaurants. Don't charge your meals to your hotel room if you want to rack up Landry's points for your meals. The hotel itself is a bit tired. Our upgraded balcony suite overlooked the intercoastal waterway and some electrical equipment. Nice oversized tub and separate shower. Take care if it is raining. Towels were placed next to the doors to prevent water coming into the hotel during a heavy rainstorm. The added daily fee gives you a couple of bottles of water and entry into the pool, but not the spa which requires a separate reservation and an additional daily fee. The pool and lazy river were nice, but very crowded. Nice to swim laps early in the morning when the pool was fairly empty. Free floats available for the lazy river. There is also a small beach. Beware of the alligators. Surprised at the lack of safety at the marina. No safety equipment available, nor was there anyone available to help dock the boat. Marina parking is $5 per foot and requires an overnight stay at the hotel, but did not see anyone checking. (Our friend had paid in advance.) Needed to get some ice packs for an injury that happened at the marina and was told by both the front desk and security to use the ice bucket in the room. Went instead to Vic & Anthony's where they gave us cups of ice. Not sure if I would stay here again, I'm not a gambler, but it was beautiful to visit and explore Louisiana enjoying the intercoastal waterway.

Yelp
We went Christmas Eve to celebrate. The staff ruined it. The dealers have zero to negative personality. It's like they're NPCs. I guess it's time for AI to take their jobs too since they don't seem to want them. We stayed and played anyway and never even saw one cocktail waitress. We were never offered a drink.

Yelp
The Golden Nugget was absolutely wonderful and the effort that the staff went to make sure our party celebrating our dear friend over the weekend was greatly appreciated. We stayed the weekend at the Golden Nugget and the rooms were clean, large, and the amenities were fantastic. The restaurants were all delicious (especially Salt Lick). I definitely will be back soon. Thank you again!

Yelp
My family and I enjoyed our stay here. Everyone was nice and friendly! We enjoyed out time at the pool.only problem I had with the pool is that I couldn't bring my own bottled water. It had to be Golden nugget bottled water. This made it very inconvenient to stay hydrated. We just had to keep buying bottled water. The plus is that the margaritas are good. Only other thing is the restaurants close at 9pm during the week and there is not much open if u get hungry! So keep that in mind.

Yelp
It's not the biggest casino I've been too but it's clean and I'm always able to find a seat. Love the free parking and that the slots take $1 bills. There is still smoking inside so just be aware. Drink service is non existence and customer service of the staff varies from very polite to hella pissed off negative energy.

Yelp
Two hours east of downtown Houston, Golden Nugget LC is a quick and easy getaway for Houstonians (Just look around the casino or any restaurant, and most of the patrons are wearing Astros, Texans, Rockets, and other Houston gear.). I'm not much of a gambler; I go there for the pool action, restaurant hopping, occasional live music... Since GN is owned by Tillman Fertita, you'll only find eateries that are part of the Landry's restaurant group (and that ranges from Cadillac Grill and Saltgrass Steakhouse to Gorotto and Vic & Anthony's). There is a Starbucks, a barber, a spa, convention space/meeting rooms, a pool with a wet bar, a lazy river, hot tubs... :: Complimentary valet for hotel guests. ($30 if you lose your ticket) :: When you check-in, if you have a Landry's club card, add that to your account to gain points. :: Shuttle that runs to and fro the nearby L'Auberge for additional gambling opps.

Yelp
Great place for a short birthday get away. The plan was to gamble at night and spend a day at the pool. We pre booked a pool deck bed (mistake #1) and the weather was perfect - clear blue sky and great temps! Once at the pool we asked about an upgrade to a cabana so we would have some shade. There is absolutely no shade, umbrellas or anything anywhere around the adult o pool except at the pool bar or the grill. Unfortunately the cabana we were given was set back away from the pool and faced west so as the sun moved through the day more and more of our cabana had direct sun into it. Our service was lack luster but the waitress as we ended up just staying I. The pool and she kept taking our drinks to the cabana. As the day got warmer and we wanted to utilize our cabana for some r&r in the shade we discovered the sun issue as well as the fact that the fan in our cabana didn't work so we had no air movement at all. We let guest services know, they sent a guy when came and looked and said they would send a manager over. 25 min later no manager and off we were back into the pool- it was just too hot to sit in the heat box. The only way we got shade was pulling the curtains too which then blocked the little bit of air flow we had. We needed up moving our stuff to deck side chairs and just getting back into the pool. As we left we followed up and after a 30 min wait we were told a manager would contact us. The night went by and no one followed up. The next morning before leaving we stopped back by to talk to the manager (Jamie) who was finally available and found out that they could and would NOT do anything for their shortcomings. No refunds no matter what. They admitted they failed in accommodating us on the cabana and in contacting us (apparently they lost our information). Jamie informed us if you book a cabana online in advance and don't cancel at least 24 in advance there is no refund. Even if the pool is closed due to weather. Lesson learned don't book in advance! Added lesson learned - if you book the pool deck bed, be prepared for people to be all around you... they will line up at the "foot" of your bed in the water and leave their stuff there. Your booking doesn't include that "curb side" area of the pool by your bed. Next visit we will simply just take pool deck chairs and save our $ for the casino or drinks. Tillman could make a huge improvement to the allure of his pool by adding a little shade and some customer friendly policies with his rentals.

Yelp
I have no clue what the odd roulette wheel game was I started on with 000 and the numbers on the wheel all bungled up - stupid game. Good waste of money. We stopped here with stopping at the other casino next door. It was your standard casino - smoking allowed. The table tops were REALLY WORN and need refreshed or replaced. Nice shops out front, and plenty of tables open on a Sunday. Didn't have much luck while playing, but I would say this is a good option while in the area.

Dyanne P.

Yelp
I hope everyone reads this review. All I can say is NEVER go on a Sunday. The staff on a Sunday is horrible. They don't care. Saturday is so much better. I don't mind spending money but shoot if I'm doing it I'd like to make sure I have a drink in my hand. It's not possible with who you staff on a Sunday. They are trash and definitely act like they don't want to work there. I got rejected or shut down 2 times because they were busy when we were already ordered our drinks from on of the girls and she just never came back. Then only to be charged at the bar. Crazy. Its betterto spend more to travel father to Vegas than this disappointment on a Sunday.

Yelp
The verdict is in - I still love this place. We checked in to stay two nights in a king room. The room is sleek and spacious with a massive tub in the middle. We were able to check in early without an extra charge, which was very convenient. We found a spot in the new Draftkings Sportsbook and that place is awesome! There are so many TVs with comfy seating areas from bar stools to lounges. We were placing bets and watching NFL Sunday and the wings I ordered, bbq and teriyaki, were some of the best wings I've had. Perfectly cooked with the right amount of sauce. The server was also kind and attentive. Take note the Bloody Mary has pickle juice - had I have read that prior, I would have gotten it without. We've had a lot of fun in the casino and have enjoyed staying here during the week when it's not too crowded. We've been able to get free drinks easily while gambling and enjoyed our time here. We'll be back!

Yelp
These rooms are TOO EXPENSIVE to have to sleep with spiders & not have microwaves or refrigerators. This is my first night here and i am VERY UNHAPPY. I came to golf and haven't even got to hit the course & im ready to go back to Dallas to my spider free environment. And you can't play your system on the TV/change to a different HDMI. That's ridiculous!! Update: Ashley did accommodate me well after switching TWICE I was finally comfortable in my new suite. But unfortunately the ice machine don't work on there 7th floor.

Yelp
I wish we remembered his name, but the bartender at the pool on March 21st was very attentive and friendly! Wish I won big at the casino to tip him better, poor guy only had us 2 at the pool all rainy afternoon. Treated us to THE BEST shot EVER for my 30th bday! The SCOOBY SNACK! so good we had to go back later that evening to have /buy another :P thank you thank you thank you! You rock!

Yelp
We are out visiting my son in the army stationed in Louisiana. He took us to the Golden Nugget and we had a blast! Very clean and the servers were very attentive! We also made back what we spent!

Our to go place when we lose power. Great restaurants, fun in the casinos and great pool. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I only went into the casino, so nothing I say here applies to the hotel as I have not slept there. Yet. I'm not opposed to spending a night here. Also, I visited on a Wednesday. I can't speak about what this place is like on the weekends, but it was hardly crowded at all on this particular hump day. I played some Blackjack. I was down $70 when the guy next to me lit up a cigarette. I hate cigarettes. I got up and left for the bar, where I played some video poker and had a beer while wondering to myself, 'Why do people still smoke cigarettes?' I tried nicotine cigarettes five times (or maybe less) in my life and they all tasted like complete shit. Meanwhile, I managed to lose an additional $91 sitting there. I cashed out and handed the friendly barmaid my $9 ticket for the beer, and then left. I was in and out in under an hour, down $170. Ouch. Had I walked out as a winner, I would have awarded the Golden Nugget Casino a fifth star. Sometimes I'm just spiteful that way.

Yelp
My family and I had soooo much fun!! We won money and dined at so many places! There is also shopping boutiques inside the casino!

Yelp
The customer service at this hotel is horrible. From the paper thin walls to the gaming employees. No one was friendly and I never got a response from an email that I followed up from in regards to my experience. I would absolutely not recommend this to hotel to anyone and would tell them to walk quickly to the casino next-door..

Yelp
5 Stars for the Golden Nugget. My very first time at this cool Casino. My Best friends took me there for a quick Birthday Girls Celebration. What a great time. The rooms were very nice. Clean and had all the amenities needed. Loved the shower area and that the toilet was in its own water closet. I was pleased to see all the nice restaurants associated with GNC. We dined at Vic & Anthony's and it was so delicious. The pool is awesome. My favorite area beside the casino itself. I felt like the GNC is like a condensed version of Vegas. I will definitely be back!!

Yelp
We come and stay quite often and this time it was one of the worst. Our bathroom flooded 2 nights in a row making my wife and I miss BOTH of our dinner reservations. We were there for our mini honeymoon after getting married just the weekend before. Friday night when it happened black stuff come up through both sinks with a ton of water flooding our bathroom and ruining my wife's makeup, makeup bags, straight iron, curling iron, our toothbrush's, all over her Apple Watch, jewelry and clothes that she brother to wear the next day. When staff came to the room to see it not even a sorry was given. I asked if the hotel had somewhere to do laundry and was told no, which forced us to leave and find a store to buy her new clothing for her to wear the next day! (Money we didn't have to spend) We were not offered a room change or even a simple "sorry for your inconvenience let us take care of your dinner tonight while we clean this up". I let all of it go and my wife and I continued our honeymoon. Then at the same time the next evening it happened again. I was not very nice about it and at least they switched our room which was another inconvenience and we have to push back our dinner reservation an hour due to it. Again nothing was done or offered. Before I write a review everywhere I am waiting to talk with someone that is supposed to call me today or tomorrow. No one ever called. I wish I could post the video but it won't allow for some reason.

Yelp
Updated.... tonight my wife was brought to tears and harassed for leaving the casino and going to the bathroom. We were playing the slot and she went to the restroom. She was wearing a dress so I had her ID and room card. The attendant refused to let her back in. She is 45. Then they asked me for her ID and said I don't believe that is you and questioned her for several more minutes. If I could give this place zero stars I would. We will never come back here. There are plenty of places we could spend our at and will. My wife and I came here just like we have been doing the last couple of years to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday. Last night we were leaving the casino and going to our room for a min and we walked by the candy shop. The lights were on and the doors were open so my wife, who wanted to get something sweet went in the store. She was then verbally assaulted by from what we understand is the manager. She screamed at my wife for all g for some chocolate and said we're closed and you just walked all over my mopped floor. She then told my wife to get out of here. Leave! Leave! Me hearing this I went into the store and stood up for my wife. The manager then proceeded to call me white trash and said she was going to have us kicked out of the hotel. All my wife did was go into a store for something sweet to take back to the room. The door was open and the light was on, so how were we supposed to know the place was closed? We attempted to speak with a customer service representative last night and today but were informed that there isn't one. A little later after that we went back to the casino and rush lounge to listen to music. My wife needed to use the restroom so we walked out. Apparently I walked out the entrance instead of the exit side and was then yelled at by the security representative. She said hey you get back over here and walk out the correct side right now. Upon hearing her I just smiled and said ok. She then began calling me names and said you're not allowed back into the casino. Well we did go back and she threaten call the police. Told my wife derogatory things about me. My wife asked the women what is the big deal? No one was in line so what is the issue? She said this is my podium and I control it. He didn't listen and he he's going to get in trouble I'm calling right now. All I did was walk out the wrong side of the rope. There was no need to harass me. We went to the other side of the casino after that and before exiting I asked the other attendant does he care which way I walk out? He said absolutely not. Have fun and enjoy yourselves. Again we attempted to speak with someone about these issues and were told that there is no customer service representative here. My wife is so upset she never wants to come back. I'm sending this to you because idk who else to contact since apparently there are no manager here to assist customers. We leave tomorrow but I thought you might want to be aware of these issues.

Yelp
Stayed here for 1 night while passing thru. Casino is what youd expect for a casino. Alot of cigarettes and flashing lights. Tried to eat at lillies but decided against it when a table of customers started screaming (literally screaming) at the horse race on tv. Our room was the most disappointing part. The bed was comfortable but for $500+ a night the view sucked. Ive attached a picture of the view from our room

Yelp
I've stayed here 3 times and everytime the service has been great, the rooms are clean and I love all the food options. The casino staff have always been fun and helpful. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
As a Landry's Select member I get $25 on my birthday month to use at any of their establishments. Since I was in Florida for my birthday I decided to make a stop at the Golden Nugget to include it in my birthday celebration. Although it is a casino and I don't gamble, I knew they had a wonderfull water park, fine restaurants, and bars to hang out at. It is a beautiful resort, everything was sanitary and the grounds well-maintained. My room was luxurious and had a deep tub that looked so inviting that I decided to take a bath, it had a separate shower. I celebrated at the Chart House restaurant for a fine dining experience, on the 2nd day I ate at Salt Grass for a more casual dinner. I enjoyed cocktails at the bar by the pool and when that closed I went to the Ice Bar. I highly recommend this resort, even if you don't gamble. There's plenty to do as a family.

Yelp
Came for Super Bowl 2023 to watch the Chiefs beat the Eagles! It happened! Everything in the room was so well appointed with the cute little table to eat, as well as a huge bathroom with a separate tub and shower. The bed was so comfortable. I wish that we would have stayed for a few more nights. Ate at 2 of the restaurants 3 of the restaurants which are all landries of course. Be sure to join the Landry Select Club so you can earn points when you dining here. Lily's Asian, Claim jumper, and the sports page all had delicious food. Really enjoyed our visit, and although we didn't have any significant luck on the tables or the slots we still had a good time anyway.

Yelp
We were at Draft Kings on August 19 and had a wonderful experience. We ordered wings but the waitress didn't like how the first order looked and asked them to be redone. The head chef remade them himself and brought them to us. They were delish. He apologized for the delay and even sent us amazing fried Oreos! Great service and food. Definitely will return.

Yelp
I have been going to the Golden Nugget since they opened. My husband and I visit about 1-2 times a month. Since Covid it is hard to find food after 10pm because everything closes early. The restaurants also rotate days they are open so be sure to check the schedule. The pool is always a vibe but the service is always horrible!!! I always end up going to the swim-up bar for a drink which takes forever as well. The swim-up bartenders are always rude. Overall, I enjoy the Golden Nugget but the limit access to restaurants and pool service has always been a con for us.

Yelp
Draft. Kings. Sports. Book. This place is very legit. The screens are amazing. Seating is very close to a Vegas style book. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Trash at the pool! For the money you spend all over this resort, you would think they have a cleaning crew

Yelp
Ok I have to agree with some of the other reviews in regards to cleanliness. This hotel is beyond filthy. Every inch of it is gross. The rooms have baby roaches and not cleaned between guests clearly. Upon check in I noticed the beds had small hairs in them , old cookie crumbs on the floor and near tv, carpet looked had it hadn't been vacuumed in years , the toilet was clearly not cleaned , and the list goes on. The hallways and elevators are disgusting . The restaurants have very long waits , the lazy River is cloudy and dirty . Overall not a good experience.

Yelp
I was here pre Covid!! I was in town visiting family, and they all kept telling me I had to come here. I didn't stay here, but they had a lot of nice restaurants and a huge gambling area. Their list of shows were impressive, with a lot of popular comedians. When I come back to Lake Charles, I'll definitely spend more time here, and possibly stay here!!

Yelp
Definitely check in. Room not ready. Had to wait hours after 4. Not at all happy with the extremely disorganized and inefficient check in process.

Yelp
This is my stay at Lake Charles for my birthday. First off - I want to say that the bell boys and valet parking staff are EXCELLENT. that was the best part of my experience. The front desk staff was rude from the start. We were welcomed with plenty of attitude. We went to Cadillac bar the first night. The waitress asked me if I wanted cheese on my quesadilla. Very strange. When we arrived to our room at the end of the hall, we heard constant beeping every 3 seconds. It was the ice machine. I called the front desk and reported this 3 times and texted once to get it fixed or even turned off. They said they would get it fixed and put in a maintenance ticket - we heard the beeping inside of the room the whole entire time. It was never fixed the 3 days we were there. I laid down in the bed and there were dead bugs on the ceiling. The TV counter hadn't been dusted in a long time there was dust built up on the entire counter. There was a. Pink stain by the end of my bed. A piece of a wrist band on the wall In the bathroom. I found a stain from dried blood or coffee on my comforter. There was paint on the inside of the curtains. This is not what I expected for over 500 dollars a night for my birthday weekend. As we were checking out I received more attitude from the young gentleman at the front desk. I asked for a manager to advise about my complaints. He told "tiff" (the supervisor) that I wanted to complain. She never spoke to me once. The young gentleman and Tiff had a private conversation on the side and they comped the resort fees and early check in. I am very disappointed with how they handled the situation and I don't think I will ever go back. If you have any complaints here do not expect anything to be done about it. I don't think I will be staying here again.

Yelp
We have been to the Golden Nugget several time and have always had lots of fun - win or lose. We went last weekend and I had the best blackjack dealer I've ever had. Look up Satanna if you want to have fun while playing. We also at Vic & Anthony's and had wonderful service and 5 star food. Everyone at the table was more than satisfied with their meal and the service. The pool is also great - excellent service and great drinks. I've got a great host too. Derrrick always takes care of us and gets us great rooms whenever we go. Keep up the good work GNLC. It's a super fun place with lots of great restaurants and excellent service.

Yelp
Absolute joke trying to book a tee time at the golf course. Called the club house at 2pm on a Friday afternoon just rings and goes to VM. Terrible customer service from the concierge, to the point I asked if I should call La Berge and he said "probably".. hah excuse me? Oh well L'Auberge is getting my greens fee, they picked up on my first call.

Yelp
Plenty of gaming space, restaurants, and shops. Lots of free self parking as well as valet. We ate at Lillie's and food was good. Reason for three stars? We gambled for a few hours, but was only able to get one drink from a server. They were very hard to come by on the casino floor. Slots did not pay out at all, but roulette did.

Yelp
My wife and I picked the Golden Nugget to honeymoon. I made the reservation 4-5 weeks out. I called 3x to confirm that we were get suite that we wanted. 3X! We got there and it wasn't even close, we came back down and I explained that we had booked this room 4-5 weeks out and called 3X to make sure. He first said we don't have any suites, I said how is this possible? They then offered to put us in a jr. suite and then they refunded us some money. They were completely booked, so we think they gave our suite to some high roller and then let us have the jr suite. I tried EVERYTHING I could to pull off the perfect honey moon and they screwed us over with NO APOLOGIES. Really was NOT happy. We can NEVER get that back.

Yelp
Roach infested and they don't even vacuum the hotel rooms... gross. So much for luxury

Yelp
Stayed overnight on 12th floor of GN hotel. When we checked in we were told that the room was ready so we proceeded to go there. When we arrived in the room, all drawers were open, bathroom trash can was in the bathtub and it was evident the room was not ready. I called the front desk to inform them of this and also that the room safe would not operate correctly. (This is a common problem) Front desk said they would send a maintenance man to fix the safe. We waited 40 minutes and I called back to the front desk. Same lady answered and said she would contact maintenance and would immediately call me back to let me know when to expect them. Waited 30 mnutes and front desk never called. quality of service at the Nugget has gone downhill. We also ate at the Saltgrass resturant and house soup was served so cold that we could not eat it. I asked for a manager and he never showed. Service was non existent at Saltgrass as well.

Yelp
My spouse and I stayed this weekend, we had the room with the kind size bed. Our check in went really smooth, the room was well put together and clean. The activities at the hotel (love music on main floor, pool, and etc is an added bonus) I would definitely tell my family and friends to stay here when visiting. Side note- I have more videos but it won't allow me to post them

Yelp
Through the eyes of a poker player: Golden Nugget is premier to the Gulf Coast Region and is the perfect stop between Houston and New Orleans. Its a notch above the next door L'Auberge casino, being more modern and clean with better player rewards & comps. Hotel, casino layout, and pool area are 5 star. Point System - It takes little to nothing to become an upgraded member in their tier system and it's highly highly easy to get comps and be treated like a "somebody" if you play table games, or sink in hours & hours of brainless time playing slot machines. Any combination you'll most likely end up with perks. Best system for getting upgraded is playing a few hours of minimum stakes Baccarat. Poker - As a poker player, the dealers and staff become like friends if you pass by enough like I have through the years. They are warm, professional, and enforce good etiquette at the table. Attractive & cool promos run through the week for having quads or a straight flush. Bad Beat Jackpot generally runs above 70k. Poker Room Criticism - Unfortunately the game has dwindled. Texas poker rooms are lessening the reason to go. The highest levels of management does not let the staff truly manage the room. The room was placed outside the casino floor which did hurt the game. The TV's in the room are minimal and because they aren't designed for being left on forever some of the TVs have the colors faded and its kind of embarrassing for the amount of time it has existed like that. Cool News- Finally, Sports betting is soon coming with the recent November vote and will only improve the experience, especially long poker sit downs. The plan is to set that area up in the less used section of the poker room. (I personally never understood why all this time it wasn't legal) With everything said the GN is #1 in the Lake Charles region, an area vying with lots of competition from other nearby casinos & hotels.
