The GoldenPass Belle Époque ride was an absolute highlight of our trip. The vintage-style carriages, elegant interiors, and large windows created a charming and nostalgic atmosphere from the moment we boarded. The scenic journey was stunning throughout, offering beautiful views of lakes, mountains, and picturesque Swiss villages. Everything about the ride felt comfortable and memorable. If there’s one thing that could make the experience even better, it would be having a restaurant or dining carriage on board. Enjoying a proper meal while taking in the breathtaking scenery would elevate the journey to another level. Overall, a lovely and highly recommended experience for anyone travelling through Switzerland!

The Golden Pass Railway is a spectacular journey through Switzerland’s stunning landscapes, and using the First Class Swiss Travel Pass made it even more worthwhile. The flexibility to hop on and off as you please allows you to explore more destinations at your own pace. What truly impressed me is Switzerland’s transport system—it’s incredibly well-connected across boats, trams, trains, and buses. Everything runs smoothly and efficiently, making travel seamless and enjoyable. This review is based entirely on my personal experience, with no financial or personal interest in the service provider—just genuine appreciation for a world-class travel system. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Switzerland!

Loved the experience, and the Prestige section was a special treat. But they should give some thought to rearranging the layout a bit as you certainly can't use much of the deluxe chair features since you're totally constrained by the folks across from you in the four-Plex sections. Do yourself a favor and pick a seat from the single row sections - even if that means splitting up your party. Also, could really use some cupholders and places to stash your phones/cameras besides your lap or behind the front and back seats.

A memorable ride with endless magnificent scenery. The Prestige seat was absolutely worth it. Highly recommended, be sure to book in advance.

The Golden Pass railway is not only incredibly scenic—offering sweeping views of lakes, mountains, and charming villages—but also a practical and comfortable way to travel between regions. The journey is smooth, the trains are clean and well-maintained, and the panoramic windows make it feel like you’re gliding through a postcard. A must-do for anyone visiting Switzerland!

We booked the golden pass express from Montreux to Interlaken in prestige class and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The seats on the left side in the direction of travel had a slightly better view for the first part but both sides ended up having copious views by the end of the journey. The service was friendly, though we would have appreciated them checking on us more than once per hour. There is limited space for luggage, but our cabin wasn’t full so we put some of our bags in other seats. The seats in prestige class were great - heated, electronically adjustable, and able to swivel in the direction of travel. The cheese plate was very good (especially for it being served on a train).

The route and scenery, absolutely great. But, 1st class is full of noisy tourists with as much manners as a broom stick. The only way to escape them is if you book prestige...which is a highway robbery for a few seat buttons and a foldable table that acts as a finger guillotine. Renting a car will be a much better experience in my view, you can cover most of the same valleys at your own pace.

I travelled 30 December on the Golden Express. Tourists without reservations boarded the train and fought with reservations passengers for seats. I was told by one passenger to give up my seat as his son of 20 or so liked my seat. He was aggressive and demanding when I refused. I am a 70 odd lady with mobility issues and no one e came to my aid. I was ashamedof my fellow tourists for their outrageous behaviour. Later a man boarded 1st class carriage without even a ticket and shouted abuse at my "filthy British go back where you come from" and other disgusting names. I was shaken and frightened by his aggressive behaviour to an old lady. No o er on the train came to my aid. I was forced to berate him in my mother tongue German for him to leave me alone. Both conductors were unhelpful and my trip was ruined. This had to be the worst experience I have ever had on any train throughout the world. The weather entitled tourists should be ashamed. I paid a lot of money for Swiss Pass + seat reservations to this service.
