Can't say enough great things about Golden Peacock, we lived a few blocks away for a couple of years and easily ordered 50+ times. Always quality and great.
Highly recommend the chicken schezwan (best I've ever had and it's my go-to order at every Chinese restaurant) and chop suey, but everything we've had is excellent.
To top it all off, the sweetest lady in the world who always knew our order and delivered it with such care that we wanted to come pickup every single time.
I'm writing this review, a rarity for me, a month after moving because we've missed it terribly and it's left a hole in our hearts (or stomachs).

I got two dinner combo plates one with orange chicken and one with broccoli beef. The portions of the rice were good but the portion of the actual dinner was awful. Looked like two tablespoons of food. The orange chicken was extremely sweet and tasted like it was caked with honey. The broccoli beef wasn’t bad but again super small portion. Wayyy too much for the amount of food

Traditional Chinese food, good and tasty. But I don't come here anymore for 2 reasons.....1) lots restaurants in Alameda, and 2) really rude suggestive selling. They tell me I need to order over $30 worth to make it worth their while to make it for me. The lady Mgr tells me to order tons of food and eat it later.

I had the best Chinese food experience here at the Golden Peacock. My friends recommended me to this place and told me that I had to try their Pressed Duck, Yin Yang Dumplings, Beef Gravy Wonton Soup, and their Vegetarian Potstickers. Food was excellent. Service was wonderful and attentive!

The place needs updating and the food was overly sweet.
We got some dumplings but the filling was a bit too loose and chewy, while the wrapper was actually falling apart.
The shanghai chicken was well fried but the sauce was sickly sweet and the boiled cabbage sogged up the dish.

The French Onion soup is superb, onions are thinly sliced, no rings. Light thin broth not dark and thick.
Had the smoked salmon salad, with anchovies, red peppers, green beans, romaine hearts, hard boiled egg with the house vinegar dressing. Finished up with the Pear Basil Gelato.
