The place is too expensive for the quality you get. There are like 15 people working here and they all seem stressed. Service was not good,

Good food but terrible experience with the personnel especially when you’re a foreigner (which is weird considering the staff is mostly Mexican). I had to triple checked my gluten free option because girls weren’t taking me seriously. Food arrived and nothing was confirmed to me. I finally had to left the toast (ate the avocado on top) because wasn’t feeling confident about it.

Patrons have been enjoying The Golden Pear Cafe’s fresh baked goods and custom sandwhiches for years. The dining area inside is a bit cramped and for newcomers the ordering process can be a bit confusing. There’s one line for baked goods and another line for ordering prepared foods and salads. When it’s busy the lines can get crossed. Outdoor seating is available. The “Southampton” sandwhich which consists of turkey, Brie, tomato, lettuce and a Dijon vinaigrette was light and delicious. Sandwhiches come with a side of coleslaw, pasta salad, or side salad. Sandwich with side salad was $23.00. The extremely small, single bathroom wasn’t that clean.

Google
Great location, reasonably okay food but the worst part was the staff which creates a bad atmosphere in the cafe. Feel bad for the owners who I’m sure get their revenues halved by such cold looking people at the front. Sorry for such a review but had to highlight this if it matters to the owners.

Google
It was great highly recommend it is a bit cramped but the food good the service is pretty fast they are really nice the bathroom decent but in total in is great

Google
Really shocked by how rude and unprofessional the staff were. I ordered a macchiato, was given a cappuccino, then told I should have asked for a cortado, saying it was the same drink, which it isn’t!?! Completely unnecessary and unhelpful. I then asked for a peppermint tea and was told to “go find it on the tray of teas” , which wasn’t there. The staff found it amusing and were openly laughing at us for not being able to get what we asked for. Unfortunately, I’d already tipped before realising what kind of place this is. Would not recommend!

TM

Google
Very, very generous avocado toast: more avocado piled onto bread than I’ve ever encountered elsewhere. I also like the roasted tomatoes they put on top.

I take comfort, knowing that the golden pea is right on the corner. If I need a healthy Ish snack it’s always right where I need to be. The coffee is good. I would say that in the summary you should sit inside because the bees will swarm.

Yelp
This is one of the hottest spots I think in all of the Hamptons. I came here on a holiday Monday at 6:30am and we got there just in time to find a table for three people. I forgot what the other Golden Pears look like in other hamptons, but the Southampton one was on the small side. Get there early if you want to beat lines and if you want to sit down and eat. I got egg and cheese on a coissant. It was good but you deff will be paying alot for it. I mean it is hampton prices. My friends food did take on the slower side to come though. I also got an iced latte with regular milk and it tasted fine. Nothing special.

Yelp
Bethenny talks a lot of smack about The Golden Pear, but honestly I have nothing bad to say about this place (except that like everything in the Hamptons, the prices are wild). Still, the food I had at The Golden Pear was delicious, so if it costs a couple bucks more than it would anywhere else so be it. I came here with a friend and decided to split the chicken salad sandwich along with a small mac and cheese. We also ordered iced coffees, and my friend had to get the giant chocolate chip cookie which I have to admit really did look tempting. It was absolutely jam packed, but these guys have it down to a science and the line moved extremely quickly. We were able to snag a table outside and waited around 15 minutes or so for our order to come out. Everything came out correct, and I was really surprised at how good everything was. The chicken salad was perfectly seasoned and moist, and the mac and cheese had just the right amount of sharpness to it without being overpowering. The cookie tasted as good as it looked (if not better). Ambiance wise it's very much a casual cafe, but it's so fun to look around at what everyone is wearing. Brand names galore, bags that cost more than my monthly rent. A great spot for people watching as well since it's on the corner of a main street in Southampton. Not sure if this cafe is a spot I'd go out of my way to visit, but if you're already in Southampton this is a great lunch option.

Yelp
Came here on vacation and was looking for a warm, inviting cafe. Was caught by the crowd so figured it was worth a try. I was welcomed by the kind people at the register and was surprised at the options. I decided to start with the vegetable & turkey chili and cornbread. It was phenomenal. There's so much flavor and spice. The cornbread was baked to perfection. Definitely going to be coming back for more!

Yelp
I have never wrote a yelp review and have been a member of yelp for maybe 10+ years. This morning my friends and I came into the Hamptons for a weekend vacation and had to work in a coffee shop for a couple of hours prior to our place of stay being available for us. We got to Golden Pair and each ordered a coffee. I got myself a breakfast oatmeal, one of my friends got a side dish, and the other got a full sized meal. The owner came up to us and said "girls, what are we doing here?" to which we were confused and surprised by the question. He continued and said "in my restaurant using my wifi, and taking up my chairs and haven't bought a single item?" to which we replied letting him know that we each (all 3 of us) had ordered a coffee and food and were planning on getting additional pastries if he hadn't made such a rude comment. Very upsetting experience In response to Keith's message, we just checked our receipts and left his cafe an hour and a half after we had paid for our meal (nevertheless we had to wait for our food to come out). Additionally - there were no shortages of tables... At least 4 open for customers, none seemed to be waiting to sit. He also never gave the option to pay or leave.. We chose to leave given the fact that we had each bought a large coffee, and a meal and found his harshness distasteful.

Yelp
Very yummy turkey chili over Spanish rice. Not a ton of seating area but it's fast casual with homemade food

Viktoriya M.

Yelp
Great food, but coffee was self serve and wasn't hot. Pretty fast service. Busy shoulder to shoulder place with mo extra space, being pushed while eating by other customers and serving people.

Yelp
Hi I am lee and I went here this morning and sat under a tree. The store was packed and I could not move. But I got a spa wrap and it was delishus so go here in the mornings -Lee

Yelp
Rude owner, mediocre and way overpriced food! Today my daughter and I had gone for a walk on the beach and decided to grab breakfast at the Golden Pear. We've spent the last 10 summers in Southampton and would not normally choose TGP due to their overpriced, mediocre food but given crowds else where, decided to give it a shot. We both ordered full $20 a plate breakfasts and smoothies as well as a $5 bottle of water for our dog. (Yes, wouldn't give us water for the dog!) We were sitting outside enjoying our smoothies and waiting for the rest of our order with 2 old cups of tea on the table (all white, no logo or name) that we had purchased prior to our walk. The owner came running out and started screaming at us saying coffee cups from other cafes are not allowed and that he pays very high rent at his locations. I tried to explain quickly that they were old and we were waiting for our breakfast and about to throw them out. He waved me off with his hand and went back inside. All the other customers around us were shocked and said they were sorry that happened. We were just pretty stunned. I did go in after we finished our breakfast and calmly explained the facts. When he said..those are the rules and sorry if that offends you, I told him we would not be back. My advice on this one is...skip it! There are much better places to grab over priced mediocre food!

Yelp
I have to get this off my chest, why did you leave Stony Brook?! I loved having the cafe here for the brief time. I was thinking about this particular Southampton location and my daily routine of getting coffee and a muffin before work. One thing about the Golden Pear Cafe, they serve really fresh food. How I miss their soups and wraps for lunch. If you work in Southampton, there are limited places to get coffee. The people working behind the counter were always nice. I looked forward to seeing the different daily coffee brews. The one thing I remember most about this store was the door hook. If you're like me and hate to touch door handles, there is a "hook" above the door handle. I usually grab the hook up to and not touch the door handle. Coffee, muffins, wraps and soups are what make The Golden Pear Cafe memorable. If there's a Hampton in the name of your town, then The Golden Pear Cafe is nearby.

Jack G.

Yelp
Fresh clean food, worth trying. Convenient location and friendly staff. I ate indoors in January, but outdoor seating when weather gets warmer is the way to go!

Erin F.

Yelp
There were 2 bugs (1 dead and 1 alive) in my salmon salad today. Shocked and disgusted.

Sean C.

Yelp
Thanks for responding 6 months later. That sums up what I said about Golden Pair. I remember when it opened and it was good. Now it's just one of few options and leaching off that. At least for the Southampton location.

Art C.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible cappaccino... with no concept of social distancing (this was at the height of the pandemic). All-around bad...

Saroasha E.

Yelp
We stopped by to pick up coffee, an oatmeal and raisin cookie and some Mac & cheese. Coffee and cookie were fine but the Mac & Cheese had no flavor sadly!

Kylie K.

Yelp
This place has gone down hill over the years. I stopped in today to get a breakfast burrito and latte for a total of $40... the spa burrito was bright green. I'm used to green spinach wraps but this was on another level. The burrito also gave me a horrible stomach bug and made me very nauseous. For those prices the food should be better quality. Additionally service was slow and the employees were very abrupt and rude.

Jake B.

Yelp
Advertised having a bathroom for customers. Bought an overpriced drink and then was told the bathroom was "broken." They told me to go to the chamber of commerce across the street, which was also closed. Not very helpful, I wish I didn't get the drink.

Yelp
I came here for brunch about 2 weeks ago as the end of my friends bachelorette weekend. The place was buzzing and super busy so the low rating confused me. It was a cute small place with a little outdoor seating as well. The fresh self serve coffee options smelled great as well. I ordered the scrambled eggs on a croissant and yes, they were expensive, but that's the Hamptons for ya. I know people complain about the price, but you know that when you're choosing to go here. I like to look at the quality of the food and it was actually pretty good. The portion was large enough and filling and the taste was just fine! The coffee was great too. Yes, it was busy and crowded, yes it's pricey, but other than that I didn't see a problem with this place.

Loyal C.

Yelp
Great pastries and good coffee. Hard to find a seat - a bit overpriced - slow service!

Rudegal L.

Yelp
Worse cafe experience! The old lady is very crancky and rude, the place is super crowded, loud! We payed 19.50 for 2 croisants and a chai latte. Skip!!! This place

Dechele C.

Yelp
Good spot for breakfast/brunch. I ordered my food inside and took it back home. The have a hand sanitizer station when you walk in the door and the space is limited. All of the staff wear mask. One lady working working there, she kept lowering her mask to talk on the phone, which I felt she didn't have to do. Other than that, I would go back!

Lois K.

Yelp
I was looking forward to dining here due to the amount of people dining and waiting in line. It looked like a wonderful place. We decided to dine here so asked an employee where we go for seating. He was cleaning off a table and said we can sit there. 5 mins later another female employee comes over to us and asks us if we've ordered food and if we didn't we need to get out as this table is only for people who ordered food. We had no idea that we had to go to the counter and order first as the first employee we encountered told us that we can just sit down. The female employee that interacted us with was so rude and unwelcoming. We immediately decided to go somewhere else to eat. Management should have a discussion with their employees to be a bit nicer to customers. We were confused and if she could've just told us that we need to order at the counter first that would've been nice.

Yelp
ASK KEITH DAVIS: Before you give them a dollar of your money, ask them how they managed to raise capital from "investors". Also ask them about the class action legal settlement made with some investors who never received a penny for their investments and had to litigate. While you are at at it, ask them how they managed to maintain their business for decades while investors were told that their investments were worth nothing as the company has no profits. Ask them how they justify taking seed money from individuals and in over twenty years not returning a dividend, profit or any financial benefit. Ask them how their company can succeed, but the investors are told that there is no profit.

Yelp
Very tight without any organization. A group of my friends stopped in to get some coffee after a workout class in town and walked into an unorganized situation. There were several registers throughout the store but there only seemed to be one working. We were then yelled at when we were not at the register across the restaurant. It was hard to get through because the tables were so close together and we felt bad because we kept bumping into people's chairs. I ordered a tropical iced tea and it was pretty good. But it was a whole other ordeal when a friend and I had to try and find the sugar. It's not hidden but due to the tight space and crowd of people, it was hard to find. There are a bunch of other little cafes in town that are not as crowded so I would try those before coming here.

Alyssa C.

Yelp
It's very sad that establishments like this are still able to exist in Southampton. Literally are people that unaware that they would spend $22 for a bacon egg and cheese on a flagle? Because those flagles or bagels are coming out of a bag from another place... Literally the last place I would spend that much money for a breakfast sandwich and it's pathetic. Also, not about the money, about the fact that people are that foolish to not recognize they're getting GOT! And the staff is not happy because they probably NEED the job and have no choice but to do what the owners want, they probably get "the heat" the owner should be receiving for his poor business practices and ethics, at this point! We just spent $60 on breakfast, 2 bacon egg and cheese on flagel and one flagel with egg and cheese, 3 coffees. WTF

Laura P.

Yelp
Love this place! I have been here several times. Coffee is delicious as well as their pastries. Their muffins are very fresh and they have a wide selection of them. I love that they have both oat and almond milk. Service is excellent and they are always packed.

Allen F.

Yelp
Have taken many very delicious meals from Golden Pear, especially fond of their turkey chili. The indoor seating is always cramped and often no seating available due to too many who seek to relax and take their time reading and chatting. Excellent staff and fair prices. Rather large selection of appetizing offerings including vegan options. The best seats are those outdoors, but right next to the outdoor tables may be found unattractive overflowing village garbage cans, which really should be emptied regularly by Golden Pair staff and not just left to the village cleanup crews, given the huge contribution of refuse generated by Golden Pear patrons into these trash bins. A real positive of Golden Pear is that pets are welcome at the outdoor tables!

Donna P.

Yelp
Dirty, overpriced and rudest staff around. A big NO to the Golden Pear. Had a salad with wet rotten lettuce at the bottom that I had to throw out. Gross!

Jon W.

Yelp
Just what I needed on a cold winter day. I was out working in the hamptons and needed some coffee to wake up and maybe a pastry. After finding this spot right in the town I got the house blend coffee and a piece of blue berry crumb cake. The coffee was just good but the blueberry crumb cake was in expectingly delicious. I highly suggest you get the blueberry crumb cake if you are there. Pros: Good coffee Great blueberry crumb cake Cons: Credit card minimum of $10 - this always annoys me

Dione D.

Yelp
I only come to the Hamptons in the summer, so I understand that's the busy season. I also understand that these are small towns trying to keep up with the influx of people like me, who hop the train from the city for a long weekend. But this place was chaotic, overrun by teenagers. The food was okay, and I hate to say this, but not good enough for the price. I am happy to pay silly prices, as long as the food is memorable. My friend ordered the bacon, egg and cheese; it didn't say it came on a seeded roll and she can't eat seeds. You don't have many choices for breakfast so just try to beat the morning rush!

Nora F.

Yelp
Yes, it's kind of pricey but the rate shouldn't be about just the price. The orange-apple with ginger they prepared for me was pretty cool. It brought some cooling effect in a hot day like this day we walked in. Hubby's coffee wasn't bad. They have comfortable chairs, so glad to come in and relax. Well, I wouldn't suggest a laptop and stay here for hours. We came here before and thought this coffee corner is better than most in the area. Walk-in and say hello, they're friendly. Enjoy!

Betty L.

Yelp
Hadn't been here in years--it used to be my daily lunch haunt. The service staff are cold and barely pleasant. The highly overpriced, $17, spinach mushroom sheet pan quiche which I ordered had a very strange consistency, not much cheese and lacked flavor. Nothing about this visit has me inclined to ever return. Very sad that a place once so good has tumbled so far.

Hiral P.

Yelp
Good vegetarian brunch/lunch options available. Their coffee options are great. I was not a big fan of their pasta salad but the Panini was good. Next time I would try their baking options

Anna V.

Yelp
The worst service in the world! Every time we come here. Crowded, dirty tables, disorganized order takers, cashiers don't speak good English. Messed up our order : waited 15 min for 2 late !! ridiculous! They just lost my business to Starbucks.

Hey C.

Yelp
I will never understand how they stay in business. There are plenty of places to get coffee, iced tea, etc. the curried chicken salad is good but the people behind the counter are consistently crazy. Very impolite and unkind. Amazing coffee at Tate's literally down the street with sweet kids behind the counter or Ted's also nearby with much better food and service. Avoid this tourist trap.

Andrew T.

Yelp
Anselma and the crew at the East Hampton location or always so friendly and hospitable. Really well run establishment, delicious Paninis and prepped food.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
I have been going there since it opened. I stopped for the most part because their prices became unbelievably high. I went in to get my favorite sandwich to treat myself. The same sandwich 17 years ago was $6.95. I just paid $18 for not even the same sandwich! They changed the sourdough rolls, which are awful, the sandwich doesn't taste the same at all. They offer a side of salad or a roll or something to go with it. So I asked for the salad. It was so soggy and clearly from the day before that I couldn't even eat it. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I want my money back. They have lost yet another long time customer, who used to go there everyday when they had more affordable prices and better food and service. Never going there again! I wouldn't advise it to anyone!

Brandie E.

Yelp
Still no clue why we go back here when getting baked goods from stop n shop is a better option lol. stale croissants and stale scones that were like rocks. The only thing that was ok were the danishes. I know people feel like it's trendy to go here and be ripped off but the quality is really just consistently lacking.

Haven A.

Yelp
Average food with average service. It's definitely overpriced but hey, that's the Hamptons right ? Average food completely overpriced . The baked goods are tasty but not quite fresh. I'm sure hey make them there but they still have that commercial taste to them . At this particular location it's weird that you have to reach over the coffee and coffee pots to interact with the cashier and pay. It crowds the front in an already small space.

C L.

Yelp
This a a review for April 18th morning. The woman behind the counter (believe she was African american, did not catch her name) was painfully rude. She refused to answer me after several times of politely saying "excuse me" while she was standing there idly doing nothing. I don't understand why it is SO hard for people to be polite? Golden pear - please get better, more respectful help. This woman is a detriment to your business.

Zabelle M.

Yelp
Cute cafe in the center of town! Food was awesome as well as service. Very limited seating but its a good place to grab a quick bite. Will be returning!

Mark H.

Yelp
It's almost every Saturday or Sunday that we enjoy stepping up into this tight little joint on the corner and navigating the coffee line and look to make eye contact with the always searching staff behind the counter. The staff are used to the small space and newcomers really don't know the dance-but it's worth it. Fresh food, delicious aromas and hot coffee are so worth this stop-and in the nice weather, the people watching is not only fun but borderline comical. Grab the sunglasses and just watch while enjoying freshly made food by hard working year rounders. Start texting: "meet me at Golden Pear on the corner"

Abigail L.

Yelp
It's a popular spot for locals, but it DOESNT TREAT VISITORS WELL. The line was NOT ORGANIZED at all and frankly, it did not seem to matter because my friend got cut in line by the person behind her because he seemed to know the owner. The same happened with another group of regulars in terms of order of food. We got our coffee and food after those who seemed to be regulars which was really disappointing. I understand that food may have different preparation times, but I got an iced coffee and my friend got a latte so I don't understand why it took longer than the regulars who had more complicated orders. It appears that the person who takes your order will also be the person who serves your order. After ordering an iced coffee, I waited around 15 minutes as the person who took my order (AKA THE OWNER) went around talking to the regular customers who were sitting as he was sipping his drink. Instead of sitting at my table, I went to check on the coffee because I noticed other people who went after me already got their coffee orders. Only after my server/owner, noticed me standing at the coffee pick-up table, did he remember that I ordered an iced coffee. It was coffee and ice. I don't understand why it took as long as it did... It was also unfortunately acidic so not worth the wait... The structure of the restaurant also has quite a few issues. The organization of the cash registers was really inefficient. There were six registers, two of the pair of registers block each other, allowing only one person to be served. In order for me to pay I had to YELL MY ORDER AND PAY OVER THE PERSON INFRONT of me. The other two registers were near the coffee area where most of the customers go to because thats where the line ends. The coffee area is quite messy and you might get away with a free coffee because one of the customers had to ASK TO PAY FOR HER COFFEE MULTIPLE TIMES before actually paying. This customer actually looked over at me and asked me if SHE WAS INVISIBLE because the server did not respond to her and I genuinely felt bad for her. In addition, there were so many servers to help the customers. While I went during a busy time, there were so many staff members behind the counter who only seemed to be waiting around. This is a bitter review, but I have to give credit where it is due. If you survive the lack of efficiency and care for its non-regular customers, the food was actually pretty good. I got a warm panini which was yummy. I wouldn't recommend the iced coffee as it was rather acidic and bitter like the taste left in my mouth from the experience, but my friend said her latte was good, so I would suggest going for the latte. TLDR Priority is given to regulars with ordering, getting their orders, etc. So unless you are a regular or the cafe is empty at the time, you will likely be treated as less. :(

Suzanne Z.

Yelp
Very decent wrap. Nice seating outside. Quick service. Pricey but what do you expect?

Alayne H.

Yelp
Everything is more expensive in the Hampton's, right? So putting price aside, this small cafe was perfect for grabbing a cup of coffee and a breakfast sandwich while strolling around the town. The coffee was good and the breakfast sandwich was satisfying. Nothing exceptional about either. The Golden Pear Cafe seems to be a hot spot and the service was good. However, it was busy when we were there and gave you the feeling of being in the way while waiting for your order. If you are lucky enough to snag a table inside or out, I could envision some good people watching.

Joe G.

Yelp
We had the chili and it was good. But very disappointed with this place. We took our food to go and went down to the beach. When we got there we opened our bag and there were no spoons. Just a cup of chili. It was a very messy meal.

Rimz T.

Yelp
Great place to sit and people watch on the corner of Main St, but the baked goods were average.

Amanda K.

Yelp
I used to come here on my lunch breaks with coworkers. But after the prices going up, them getting rid of their lunch specials (half of a sandwich and soup or salad with a drink), and the service being terrible I refuse to go back. One of the ladies there even argued with me about what came with my order, while the menu was right behind her! I also waited about fifteen minutes for mac and cheese, while my coworkers got their meals (paninis) within five. the mac and cheese was right there in the hot food station, the woman helping me was just too busy talking to the other girls working there to get my food before she remembered. Its a shame, because when I first started going there the service/quality was decent but spending over 20 dollars for a sandwich no bigger than an index card and an overpriced iced tea (over 4$ really?!?!) is ridiculous. You can get a quart of hot, delicious soup at Citarellas across the street for the price of a small soup here, its crazy! If you want my opinion? This place is overpriced. Working in the Hamptons year round has allowed me to see when the higher priced meals are worth it, and when prices are jacked up just because its *the Hamptons*. This is not worth it, and its not worth having such rude and unorganized staff take up my time when I'm on a limited lunch break. Honestly, if I'm going to spend money on a sandwich/soup/salad, I'm going to head to The Cheese Shop down the street for a higher quality, friendlier service, and way more food for much much better prices.

Christopher J.

Yelp
Used to be an excellent restaurant, food is still very good, unfortunately has gone way down hill with the level of service and exorbitant prices charged. Staff was also rude to my wife, lots of snooty out of towners to be found here. Might be good to pick up a quick cup of coffee to go though no local residents go here any more.
