Golden Pheasant Inn

Went to the Golden Pheasant for dinner this evening. They had a great drink menu with many options. And their food was outstanding. Great apps, great mains and one of the better Creme Brûlée’s we ever had a restaurant. We were very pleased with the food and our server, Annie, was fantastic making us feel right at home. Can’t wait to go back to the Golden Pheasant for another great evening.

My husband and I have been to the Golden Pheasant on many occasions. They never disappoint us. The food and service are both phenomenal. The restaurant’s outdoor dining area has canal side seating as well as an area for those dog lovers who want to bring their pets with them. Last night’s meal was not exception what we had experienced in the past. My husband and I started off with the fig and brie flatbread and grilled octopus. Both appetizers were delicious overall. We both felt the octopus was a little tough to eat, but the flavors in the dish were spot on. For our entrees I had the salmon and my husband had the sea scallops. The salmon and scallops were cooked to perfection and both the salmon and scallops just melted in your mouth. We were both too full to eat anymore, therefore no dessert was to be had to celebrate my husband’s birthday. However, our waitress, Anne, gave him a small box of chocolates to enjoy later. Speaking of Anne, I just want to give her a quick shout out! She was very kind and personable as well as very attentive to our table. Thank you Anne! We will be back for brunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary!!

Beautiful place. We were there for dinner on our last night of vacation. Nice view of the river across the street. The dining room was very comfortable and pretty. I had the Pheasant which was delicious. My husband had the Filet which he thought was excellent and he really liked the Dauphinoise potatoes. We had the Chocolate Olive Oil cake for dessert and it was luscious. A very enjoyable evening.

When you find a place that makes you forget everything else, provides a terrific meal with great employees, you have really found gold. Top that with the upper management being supportive and reactive if you need to speak with them and you want to share that with anyone who wants to listen.||The leadership addressed an issue with the kind of response that I have not seen in many years. It was refreshing, to say the least.||You won't go wrong. From the front desk to the beautiful rooms, the amazing attentive wait staff to the quaint and welcoming bar...do yourself a favor and escape to the Golden Pheasant. Linger and enjoy.||Marie Floria

This is not worth the stay or to dine. In the dining area, we noticed at breakfast, dirty tablecloths. In our room bugs were crawling out of the ceiling. In the bathroom some lights didn't work, no exhaust fan and the door did not fully shut. In the shower was a wooden bench that was COATED in BLACK MOLD. When we informed the front desk all they could do was apologize... no solutions. The food is overpriced. The servers were lovely and the only reason for this place not being zero stars.

We have been dining here for brunch for years. The view of the river and canal in the vaulted ceiling-fireplace room is great, the historic dining room quaint, the tables in garden beautiful (when cool outside), and the bar area is small but cozy and bright. The service is excellent. Cocktails are well crafted. Dinner has nice options and rotated seasonally. The only issue (as with the sister restaurant the Black Bass Inn down the road) is that both the brunch and beer menus have had only minor changes over multiple years. For a 1st time visitor; not a problem. But for local repeat patrons, some variety would be much appreciated!

We’ve lived in Bucks County for many years and finally made it to the Golden Pheasant for brunch today. Everything about our experience was outstanding - the food, the service, the view, the ambiance, etc. Highly recommend. Pro tip - tables 12 and 13 are next to the fireplace which they’re going to start up shortly!

We have visited here for short overnight stays several times over the years with the previous innkeeper. Our latest visit was for a celebratory dinner and overnight stay for our anniversary - best visit yet! Absolutely beautifully appointed rooms with elegant French manor designer touches still keeping with the provenance of the surrounding countryside. Dinner was delicious and perfectly paced, and ended with a beautiful dessert and complimentary glass of champagne - lovely touch. Breakfast the next morning was served by the wonderful Cheryl and she outdid herself with the best coffee and filled with a delicious assortment of both sweet and savory dishes. Looking forward to our visit this Fall!

Server staff was top notch! Great ambiance, menu was diverse and the food was excellent! We will be back in the summer to explore the outdoor patio along the river!

Beautiful inn on the water - we went there for Brunch on a Saturday (most brunches are only Sundays) Old Inn charm, bright windows made it a lovely back drop while eating. Menu isn't huge, nice variety. Food made fresh. Lovely attentive staff - overall a great experience.

A very interesting as well as delicious menu for New Years Eve! The mind-blower of the night was the Potato Bisque. It was an outstanding mixture of Potato (duh. . .) Lobster, Avocado, Caviar, Cream and Crispy Onions. Absolutly Amazing. The French Onion Gratin was very good but not even close to the bisque. Both appetizers, Beef Carpaccio and Bacon Wrapped Dates (with Duck Confit) were delicious. The Pan Roasted Pheasant Breast with Himalayan Red Rice and Shallot Game reduction was both different and very enjoyable. And again in the different category was the Sweet Bread Stuffed Quail & Chestnut Ravioli. Delicious. Both the Blood Orange Olive Oil Cake and the Profiteroles with 3 different Ice Creams were a nice way to end our meal. We were in the room that was once the solarium and to our taste, the nicer of the 2 rooms. The whole establishment, including the bar, has a very comfortable, cozy feeling. The Wine prices are very reasonable. Our server Madison was well informed and fun to talk with during the night as were other staff members that we met. Looking forward to returning some time in the Spring.

Just went back with my husband, we had brunch and sat outside. The cocktails, service, and food were fantastic and the outdoor seating area is amazing. We had such a great Sunday! We LOVE this place for brunch and dinner!

Had the pleasure of going for brunch this past weekend and the weather was perfect to enjoy their outside seating. Drinks were delicious and the staff was very accommodating. Big fan of oysters and I have to say they were some of the best ones I've had in awhile. Also had the french onion soup and as a person Gluten free normally I hold off on the bread but they are so accommodating and were able to use Gluten free bread for my soup which i've never experienced before!! Definitely will be going back as it was hands down an amazing experience.

Came here on Memorial weekend with my family hoping to impress them with the wonderful atmosphere and cuisine of the local area. Wrong! Walked into the restaurant with my family and had multiple staff walk by us without a smile or hello. A woman finally came over to ask for our reservation (which we provided) and she looked miserable (as if we were annoying her by simply standing there). Sat outside along the canal but the grasses, etc. are obviously not mowed or kept well (at least not on that day). The whole dinner experience took up 3 hours of our time (slow wait staff, food was less than average, drinks took FOREVER to come). Not wasting my time here again when there are much better options that appreciate customers and care about quality of food AND service.

What a delightful find, recommended by owner of another wonderful restaurant in the area. The delicious, simple food hit the spot one Saturday night in August, with a casual, happy crowd and professional, low-key staff that allowed one to fall most comfortably into the sultry surroundings. One idea is to bring a change of clothes and enjoy the place after a day on the nearby river! I can imagine it being downright cozy any time of year.

A real grown up restaurant with great service, excellent drinks, linen table cloths, nice atmosphere. The menu is on the small side but all of the food is excellent. Our current area favorite.

We had a pleasant experience dining in this past weekend. We were initially seated in the green house thing, but after the first 10 minutes of our conversations were just a bunch of, "what's?" And "huh's?" We asked to be moved. Initially the hostess said we couldn't move due to a full house, but our sweet waitress made it happen; we were able to move into the much quieter dining room after our apps. The food itself was really awesome. The scallop dish came with three scallops, but they were actually the biggest scallops we have ever seen and were paired with great risotto and a puréed root veggie. The shrimp bisque (a special) was also super. We were stuffed but still got dessert, which wasn't as good as the regular food. By far though, the experience was totally elevated by our great server. We unfortunately didn't catch her name; she went above and beyond and was so kind. My dad called to increase her tip to over 20% after we got home because she was that great.

Great brunch highly recommend- scenic view reservations needed so do it ahead. Will be back

My wife and I and a friend from CA had a superb dinner last night at the Golden Pheasant. The food was first class, the ambiance and setting quite lovely and our young server, Gabe, was utterly charming, courteous and efficient. We have been going to the Golden Pheasant's sister restaurant for a number of years and this was our first time at the Golden Pheasant. The place is beautiful. This is our first time coming since the Thompson family took it over. The service was friendly and attentive. We were seated in the windowed atrium type addition with a nice view of the canal (opposite road side). The cocktails are delicious. I didnt love that they don't use luxardo cherries, but they use some other type which mixes well with the Old Fashioned I ordered. The pomegranate spritzer seems popular as ours was among many we saw in the dining room. We tried a variety of soups and apps. The French Onion was a deeply flavored rich broth topped with the ubiquitous gruyere. Their topping was just the right amount. Not too much to make a gummy mess, and not too little. The cheese also had a slightly sourness that was a good compliment to the rich soup and onions. The potato leek soup was also good, although not as pretty as we would have hoped. (could have used a nice swirl of cream or cream fraiche). The lyonnaise salad was great. Crisp frisee with crispy diced potatoes, bacon lardon, and a nice dressing all brought together with a poached egg. This was a highlight and gave me flashbacks of Brassiere Perriers in the late 90s. The crispy pork belly app was good. The accompanying sauce could have used a little more flavor (either tangy or sweet). The pheasant pate was a delight. I absolutely love pate served in this fashion (sliced from a terrine). The terrine had pistachios and other bits of things that make a terrine delicious including a thin wrapping of aspic/fat. The yummy condiments that come with a traditional terrine were also good. The cornichons, the high quality whole grain mustard, and toasted buttered baguette discs were spot on. The wild mushroom baclava was different. This take on a classic mushroom puff pastry tart was probably our least favorite. The baclava retained the sweetness of a dessert baclava with mushrooms (mostlylooked like shiitake. I could not make out any Champagne mushrooms or any other classic french wild mushrooms). IMO, this dish tries too hard. I would have preferred a more classic mushroom tart, the baclava was a little too delicate for the larger mushroom pieces. The roasted duck breast entree was good. The wehani rice is a chewy full of flavor brown rice. The roasted root vegetables including pumpkin were wonderful. The only misstep here were the brussel sprouts. I'm not sure if it was this batch or what, but they were bitter with a very off putting taste. Otherwise, the rest of the plate was nice. I had the wild boar chop special. The chef recommended that the 2 double chops be served medium rare which I agree with. Unfortunately, mine came out as more medium (slightly pink and warm) vs medium rare. While not ideal, the chop was still enjoyable. The scalloped potatoes were good as well, although like the potato leek soup, had a color that was not attractive in appearance. I would have loved if it was more like a gratin dauphinois, but it was fine. The slight vanilla flavor was complimentary much to my surprise. The braised onion base under the chops could have been subtracted. We had the butterscotch pot de creme as a dessert. This was delicious and it came with buckwheat hubbards, kind of like a shortbread cookie. This was really good. Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Golden Pheasant. Like another reviewer said, almost every single dish is UNDER seasoned. If you are used to aggressive seasoning of salt and pepper, you may find the food here a little bland. For me, it's a little underseasoned, but I can appreciate that this might be deliberate to have guests enjoy the higher end ingredients that are carefully used in their food. Plus, aggressively seasoned food can interfere with wine pairings..so there's that consideration too. Recommend.

We were so looking forward to this experience. Beautiful venue. When I asked about a particular dish, the server borrowed my menu and read the description to me. Our dinners were served 2 minutes after our appetizer plates were cleared. We were hoping for a relaxing dinner, not a quick trip to McDonald's. Both dinners were served cold. To the Inn's benefit, both dinners were remade, not warmed up and very good. No apologies from the staff. They seemed annoyed. My suggestion, offer the customer a complimentary dessert or something similar in these situations.

We had our wedding reception there. (8 years ago) They were professional yet laid backed. I wish we could do it all over again. The grounds are beautiful; the inside is elegant and cozy; the rooms are just like out of a Harry Potter bedroom (but better). We love this place so much! Can't wait to go back. Thank you Golden Pheasant for a memorable experience.

An hours drive away, it was fun to revisit a fav spot offering creative and satisfying nenu choices. Early dinner hours allowed plenty of daylight to enjoy the restaurant's natural setting along the banks of the Delaware. Food was tastefully prepared, accompanied by appropriate wines, served by a charming and attentive wait staff. It was especially nice to enjoy a meal and conversation without having to shout over loud room noise. We look forward to another visit to Golden Pheasant soon.

Great place. The service and ambiance is first class. The food was as expected and staff are friendly and welcoming...like they are happy you visited there. Definitely will recommend and come back.

Never had a bad experience at the Golden Pheasant until this past Sunday. Not sure what happened but the food was very mediocre. The French onion soup tasted old like it had been sitting on the stove for a long time. The cheeseboard was uninspired and the vegetarian cannelloni was very average and way overpriced. Very disappointed this time. The service was attentive and as always it is a lovely dining room but we'll be in no rush to return.

Been wanting to come here for a while and finally had dinner here. Everything was fantastic! Ambiance was great. Our server Maya was wonderful and the food was outstanding! Everything is made in house to perfection! I had the best grilled shrimp ever and my dinner companion had the pork which was as tender as butter. Can't wait to go back!

Just WOW!!! Came here with my family for Saturday brunch. We had the union soup, pheasant pate, octopus salad, duck hash, salmon pain. Each dish was done with perfection. Highly recommend!

Charlie was our server and he was fantastic! He didn't miss a beat and wasn't the slightest perturbed by my in laws making up drinks that aren't on the menu! "I've never made one but I'll try!" We are on the back patio on a perfectly temperate day. You are right next to the water and people/dogs/bikes pass by on the trail. If you have kids do be sure to keep them in their seats. It would be pretty easy for them to get to the trail from the patio. Now on to the food! We got the vegetables on toast to share. That was really good. For the main course I had the crab cake burger. This was one of the best meals I've had in a while. My wife got the crab cake Benedict. This I should note did not come with an English muffin or any bread. The breading is in the crab cake. If you must have bread get the regular Benny. After that we were still feeling frisky so I got vanilla ice cream with caramel and peanuts. It comes topped with a waffle cone. If you know anything about me you know I'm a waffle cone guy. I get everything in a waffle cone. The cone makes the cream. Anyway I wish this place was so far away. It would be so nice to see my face at their door.

We had a wonderful time at dinner. The ambiance both inside and outside is what really makes The Golden Pheasant worth visiting. It's nice to sit outside along the canal or on the front patio. The service is top-notch! Both the bartender and our server were simply wonderful, not a single detail was missed. As for the food, the French Onion Soup is absolutely divine! Very rich, flavorful broth that almost tastes like a sauce. Hands down my favorite thing on the menu. Another wonderful thing were the biscuits and butter topped with black salt. Melt in your mouth and oh so tasty. My date ordered the Steak Frites and enjoyed it (his fries were awesome!). I ordered the Roasted Duck Breast. The cherry sauce and spinach were tasty, but the duck was quite chewy (more so than usual for duck). The previous owners did a fantastic duck dish with a lingonberry sauce that I really miss :( They also used to have fabulous escargot prepared in a traditional French style in the escargot pots. I really wish they would bring these old recipes back. I recommend the Golden Pheasant Bellini (Prosecco, St. Germaine, Peach Purée) and the French Blonde (Grapefruit Vodka, Lillet, Grapefruit Juice) for drinks. Perfect for summer! Another thing that has changed is unfortunately dogs are no longer allowed to sit outside. I had been coming here for years with my dog before the restaurant changed ownership. He is my best dinner date so I am very sad to learn this :( Favorites: -French onion soup -Excellent bartender, waitstaff, and service -Ambiance for dining both outside and inside -Tasty cocktails -The biscuits and butter (yes!!) -Very clean! All staff wearing masks, utensils bagged, paper menus, all tables spread out, and we saw the staff wiping down the door handles multiple times during dinner. Thank you!!!! Dislikes due to new ownership: -Escargot and Duck not anywhere close to as good as they used to be (maybe they will bring back the old recipes one day ) -No dogs allowed (not even small ones)

I hesitate to recommend a place with a 5 star review on one visit but... the Golden Pheasant is so good, it easily earns high marks. Our fussy Ferrari Club diners all raved about the lunch fare. They raved about the salmon and perfectly cooked potatoes. I had chicken and beef and, actually true, sent word to the chef that the beef was the best I've had since visiting beef central, Omaha! In fact, I'm going back for brunch with my wife very soon. Beautiful riverside location. Classy decor. Fussy, professional and well trained staff. Gourmet food, expertly cooked. It's all good. A local gem. Five stars, an EASY five star experience.

I like this place! At first, I was not anxious due to the "French" influence, and the characteristics that may come with it, but my wife convinced me to try it. So glad we did! Great classical food, prepared well, and presented great, without the French frills and fanfare. Started with oysters, and they were superb. Bar area was classic, and dining room cozy and traditional American. We'll be coming back!

We dine here monthly, it's a 'go to' favorite. This time disappointed. Service was missing, then impersonal and rushed. Felt like a tourist stop in New Hope, not a relaxed, fine restaurant. The beautiful fire featured on the website was allowed to go out; red coals and smoke signals punctuated the second half of the meal. The Maitake, usually wonderfully prepared with a crisped top, was served undercooked in a soggy pool of what seemed to be mayonnaise. Ugh. The chocolate dessert was indeed very good dark chocolate but cold and skinny; removing from refrigeration so taste is apparent and cold doesn't shock the tongue is a good idea. Altogether neither the food preparation skill, not the environment nor the service promised and charged for was delivered. Saturday night? Yes, it might be much better on a less popular night. But Saturday night is when we want to dine out - the work week is over and we want to enjoy our town. Please don't lure us with unkept promises on any night.

I am a returning patron to the Golden Pheasant Inn. I come here several times a year to celebrate an occasion or to treat myself to a nice dinner out. I am never disappointed. The service and food are always outstanding. I can't recommend this establishment enough. The perfect place for fine dining!

I came here on a Saturday and from start to finish everything was great. I've had some misses recently on restaurants, but this was an exceptional experience. We were seating in the large room with the big windows. The location of this restaurant is just stunning. View of the river from one side and the canal on the other. The ambiance is great here. They had a special drink and dessert menu for Breast Cancer Awareness month, which we happily supported. I got the oysters to start, incredible and the scallops as my meal. Everything was delicious and came out at a good pace. I can't wait to come back time and time again. I highly recommend if you are looking for a upscale dining experience that pulls out all of the stops.

Wonderful ambiance and patient host and wait staff as the party I was with didn't arrive at the same time. Delicious mussels and my wife enjoyed her french onion soup and burger. Highly recommend this place.

Great views of the Delaware River make for a nice upscale experience at Golden Pheasant Inn. We went for Mother's Day and my mom had a great time. May pass on the steak next time, but everything else was great! Escargots were definitely a hit.

Went back a second time. Just as terrific as first visit. Had French onion soup and gourmet burger. Hidden gem of the Commonwealth.

The view is fantastic here. The Delaware River on one side and the canal on the other. We came for a great brunch experience and were not disappointed. Price Fix $35 salad/soup, entree, dessert and champagne. Great deal. The bartender seated us and bragged about her spicy Bloody Mary. It was excellent. Nice mix of horseradish and black pepper and hot sauce. My mouth is watering just describing it. I started with the vegan lentil soup. I'm a fan of lentil soup, but in this case, when you leave out animal fats, you need to supplement that with additional seasoning. It was bland. The mushroom omelet saved it. A nice earthy blend of flavorful mushrooms topped with melted Swiss under a very well seasoned omelet. Served with fruit and fried rosemary potatoes. Perfect size and taste. My wife ordered the Grand Marnier French toast. Made w/challah bread and just a hint of grand Marnier orangy liquor. Served with fresh whipped cream, maple syrup and potatoes and fruit. Nice and crispy and buttery w/that orange flavor. Order this if you like sweet. We ordered the chocolate raspberry cake and lemon torte for dessert. Both very good, but not earth shattering. We all left some. Our server was attentive. There was a fire going throughout our brunch and that added to the ambiance. I would come back here for sure!

Great meal! In town for a wedding and stayed at the Inn. Had dinner and was pleasantly surprised. I had the scallops prepared over a small serving of mashed peas; while pricey for 3, was extremely good. My wife had the steak frites and loved it. Great selection of gluten-free options. We ate at the bar and had great conversation with the bartender Kevin.

Had high expectations because I've heard so many great things about this restaurant. The food was spectacular, the service slightly less so. I'm cutting them a break because COVID has turned the world upside down and the service industry has had to adjust the most, but some common sense things seem to have been overlooked. For example, we were seated indoors for dinner, and as our meals were almost ready to be served it started raining. It seemed like the entire staff dropped everything to close up the patio area, bringing tableware etc. inside. Meanwhile, two of our party's dinners sat on a serving tray growing cold for 15 minutes. Needless to say, when our meals were finally served those two plates were unappetizing. Staff was friendly and good-natured about warming them up (I think they may have replaced the meals altogether, though I'm not certain), so all turned out ok. Still...did every single member of the waitstaff have to drop everything and close up the patio at once? Also, we had reserved a table inside because they had said they couldn't guarantee an indoor table if the weather was inclement. When the rain started, several of the outdoor parties came inside and just stood around in the dining room for some time - I suppose waiting to see if there were tables open. They should have been escorted to the lobby/entrance area, rather than be permitted to hover over other diners. The outdoor patio and the original dining room have lots of character and ambience. Unfortunately, we were seated in the larger room, which was pretty sterile and very brightly lit (too bright for an upscale dinner, IMO). Servers were nice, though perhaps understaffed and hence, not very attentive. We sat waiting for water for quite some time and never did get a refill when our carafe was empty. All that aside, the food was wonderful and we can't wait to return! Some of the best French food we've had. Hoping the glitches we encountered were due to the tumultuous times and that in "normal" times things run more smoothly. UPDATE: Just came back to Yelp a couple of weeks later and reread my review and wanted to modify...I think I made it sound like I had a bad experience here, and that's not the case at all. Food was phenomenal, atmosphere fabulous, and staff friendly. We were there on an odd night, but I'd happily go back (and surely will!)! Really was some amazing French cuisine!

Very nice venue, we were seated on the south side overlooking the Delaware River. It was a nice evening with temps in the low 70's, but the air conditioner vents right at my shoulder put out a constant flow of cold air, so consider bringing a sweater or wearing a long-sleeve shirt. Ambient noise is on the loud side. The table setting was very nice - elegant and bright. Wait staff were attentive and professional, though they needed to shout to be heard at times. The menu is limited but elegant French-styled to match the venue. I ordered a tuna tartar which was beautifully plated, and quite good. Portions are on the small side given the price ($18 for the tuna), but the experience was worthy of the price for this dish. My entree was a disappointment and the reason for the 3-star rating. The waitress asked if I wanted the duck rare (which I assumed was the chef's choice) and I responded affirmatively. The result was very well presented, but the duck was both well-done and quite gamey. Even the fruit and sauces couldn't overcome the tough (for duck) texture and off-putting overtones. We passed on dessert. At this price point I can't give a better than mediocre rating when the entrée is so disappointing. Lots of potential here, but this was a big miss compared with our experience a week ago at the similarly-themed and BYOB La Provence in Ambler.

Underwhelmed at brunch. This inn features one of the loveliest setting on any on the Delaware river, the building and the grounds are beautiful, the staff is warm and attentive. Now let's talk about the food, i ordered the crab and salmon Benedict, which in many establishments in my brunch favorite, it arrived with my eggs cold, two very small crab cakes, tasteless and lightly burned, with a little very salty lox and cold, deep fried potatoes. Where is my english muffin as a base? My partner had the crag cake burger, taste less also with some of the worst french fries possible. The presentation was pretty, but for me it is all about the food. Friends are taking us to dinner their next week, I do hope it is better at dinner.

We went here based on previous Golden Pheasant to celebrate an event. It was quite disappointing starting with the wait to get any service. We waited 30 min to even get noticed while tables around us seated after we had were given immediate attention. We had to ask the hostess to get a waiter. Food was nothing spectacular. The braised chicken had no flavor. The fish was similar and it had a fishy odor that was indicative of not being fresh. Our server lacked enthusiasm and unlike the other servers at other tables offered no recommendations. Even the cappuccino lacked something and seemed like watered down coffee served without the expected cinnamon or cocoa.I gave it a 2 for effort. We will most likely not return as the price was not indifferent for what we received.

A first time visit with a small birhday celebration turned out to be a very pleasant experience. Upon our arrival we were greeted by a gracious hostess at her station off of the main dining area and guided through a spacious, naturally lighted side room to our table. We were seated by windows overlooking a parking area to a bucolic view of the Delaware River. Our server was especially personable and attentive throughout our visit. She patiently explained the menu and the evening specials. We found all of our food choices, including the roast duck and the lamb porterhouse to be very good though not extraordinary. Two of us ordered duck breast, one to be prepared medium rare and the other medium. When they arrived at the table both had been prepared medium. The dessert was scrumptious, accompanied by a birthday sparkler and yes, our server did sing Happy Birthday! The prices were commensurate with the food quality and the setting.

Went to the Golden Pheasant for an early dinner on New Year's Eve. They had valet parking on hand and service was quick and pleasant. On arrival the greeting was warm, our coats quickly checked and we were promptly seated even though we were about 15 minutes early. The server was extremely polite and friendly throughout the course of the entire meal. Ordered a reasonably priced bottle of Bordeaux which was quite good and went well with the entire meal. I had the French onion soup to start which was amazing! That was followed by the pork chop which was accompanied by sauerkraut and sauteed brussel sprouts...all of which were perfectly prepared and delicious. I appreciated that even though we had an early seating, we never felt rushed at any point during the meal. Overall, a great NYE dinner experience...from the food to the service to the overall atmosphere. I look forward to my next visit to the Golden Pheasant Inn.

When Golden Pheasant reopened, we really hoped the food would be as good as it was before -- it's actually better. We've liked it so much, we've now eaten there four times in the past month. Each time, the meal was fantastic. They've had a cold soup as a special each time -- a little different each time, but we liked all of them. And the amazing scones in the bread basket that comes with every meal. On the appetizer list, the grilled octopus is excellent, as are the escargots, and we had a clam special one night that we loved. We also really liked the vegetable tian. The chef just has a way with flavors -- everything comes together perfectly. For the main courses, we really loved the salmon, which comes with a crispy skin on top and a delicious buttermilk sauce with fresh, thinly sliced veggies. The pastry chef is also talented -- the chocolate dessert and peach dessert were both amazing (as well as the dinner scones). The ambiance is lovely (lots of outdoor tables in the garden), and service has been great, too. We've had a few waiters, but had Bill a couple of nights in a row and he was a superstar. We can't wait to be back again soon!

This place was recommended by a friend so as a group, we dined at this restaurant for a holiday celebration. Truly was impressed. The property is well-maintained and the staff is friendly. If you're in area, this is worth checking out.

The restaurant is beautiful, great atmosphere the food is priced fairly for being high end ingredients but some was under seasoned. Highly recommend the steak frites, fillet, mushroom baklava, and the apple cake dessert. The drinks also weren't the greatest but we're good and priced fairly. Over all had a great experience good food in a beautiful setting.

We passed this 19th c inn on a drive up to a bed and breakfast in NJ. Returned for dinner, beautifully tucked in between the D&L Canal and the Delaware River. Beautifully restored interior echoed the past with modern elegance. Had the French Onion soup (perfect), Copp Island Oysters on the half shell, a chèvre aoli flatbread and lamb shank that was so very tender. Excellent wine list (we had the Chateauneuf du Pape). Waitstaff was professional, knowledgeable, and had impeccable timing. Managing the timing of courses is a lost art that can be found here. We will be back again and again.

We had a very nice dinner here with a friend . Excellent service and a lovely interior . The food was tasty . Nothing unexpected in the menu offerings but everything we ordered was perfectly done . The grill chef really knows how to cook meat ! We would love to see more adventurous menu offering from this type of restaurant as the chefs and servers totally seem to know what they are doing and could benefit for having a bit more interesting and unique menu items .

nice setting in the patio on the canal if you don't mind the bugs at night. Service was very nice last evening but can't recommend this for dinner. Very limited wine list and food was disappointing. Crab cake was mushy and tasteless. grilled cauliflower steak was hardly cooked and again tasteless. Scallops just okay. Only good course was the cucumber soup. Desserts small and average. Won't be returning even though local.

I've avoided this restaurant for years due to their past poor showings. The Chef has breathed fresh air into the golden pheasant. His take on traditional French dishes is unique and exciting. Best oysters on the half shell available anywhere. Give it a try it's my new go to place

Elegant yet comfortable. Exquisite menu and impeccable chef with perfect service. Very highly recommended.

The beautifully redone and newly re-opened Golden Pheasant was delightful. We sat it the old stone dining room which is gorgeous with a large fireplace at one end, windows with what looks like a lot of the original wavy glass overlooking the canal and lovely paintings of local scenes. Lots of room around our table -great if you have health concerns these days. Our waitress was delightful- helpful and friendly without hovering. My husband, for once, was happy with his vodka gimlet. We each ordered the salade nicoise which was delicious. The tuna was done to perfection. I rarely like anyone's carrot cake but my own. This one was good. I didn't see anything left of my husband's ice cream sandwich on chocolate chip cookies so that must have been good too. Restaurants usually have bugs to work out when they first open. This was day two and things already seemed to be running beautifully.

We always have great meals here and service is prompt and polite. Can't go wrong at the Golden Pheasant!
