My nephew had his Graduation Luncheon here and all the dishes were delicious. They ordered so many dishes, I didn’t take a pic of everything. Aside from the main dining area, there is a small back area that has enough room for 5 large tables. The service even though they were packed, was good. A few times we had to wait for drink refills, but considering we were a party of almost 30 and a full restaurant. The parking is limited, but there’s additional parking in adjacent lots. The interior is the usual Chinese Restaurant decor, nothing fancy, but clean and charming. They do a significant amount of to-go trays, keep them in mind for your next gathering.

Google
Amazingly authentic Cantonese food with HUGE portions. Super fast service from the kitchen. A bit of a hole in the wall vibe which just adds to its character and charm.

Google
Alright, where do I start! Parking is limited. Nobody greeted us at first, but we had a seat right away once the server showed up. First time eating here, so we got a lunch special each. She got beef and broccoli and i got orange chicken, and it comes with 2 different kinds of soup. The chicken corn soup and hot and sour soup. The corn was ok, and the hot and sour was inedible. We asked for fried rice and we had to return because it was so hard. The steam rice was slightly better. We asked for soft broccoli and it came out hard, so we returned that also. The orange chicken was ok at best. I will not recommend this place, and it will not return. The server was very rude. It's not my fault she doesn't understand English. The portions are big, but if it's not good, does it really matter?

Dearest Golden Pheasant, I just had to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the consistently outstanding experience I have every time I dine at your restaurant. From the moment I walk through the door, I’m greeted with warmth and a genuine sense of hospitality. Anna is the best. The food is, without a doubt, the star of the show. Each dish is a masterpiece of flavor and texture, prepared with obvious care and the freshest ingredients. The [mention a specific dish you love, e.g., “crispy Peking duck”] is simply divine, and I’m always eager to try something new from your extensive menu. Beyond the incredible food, the ambiance is delightful. It’s a perfect blend of elegance and comfort, making it ideal for a special occasion or a casual weeknight dinner. The service is always attentive and friendly, making me feel like a valued guest. Thank you, Golden Pheasant, for providing such a consistently wonderful dining experience. You are truly a gem, and I look forward to many more delicious meals in the future! Sincerely, Lee and Wife

Google
Delicious and filling Chinese food. Huuuuuuge huge serving for its price is the highlight. Good for groups. Limited parking slot so come early

PJ

Google
The food is fast food Chinese elevated due to it being a sit down restaurant feel. This is not Chinese food- not authentic. One of ladies if you observe used one glove over and over again to clean tables to serve dishes to tables and when she is upfront collecting money etc. Also the only one that was helpful was the man who took our order and the Latin/Mexican man who was cleaning the tables. We wanted to try a Mom and Pop but were disappointed.

E Y.

Google
The portions are huge! The food was very tasty. The service was fast. The restaurant needs a makeover, though. The furniture looks dingy and old.

Margaret S.

Google
Delicious! Best Chinese food I've found since my beloved lucky star in San pedro closed. The charm of a legit, yummy Chinese restaurant. And the friendly, efficient, professional service as well. Huge portions. So good i could not stop eating. My friend and I both ate ourselves into overstuffed oblivion. However, as the kids would say, "i ain't mad at it." (That is what they say, right? ) I'm so happy i found you, golden Pheasant!

Yelp
Been there twice within last month felt welcomed and the service was super fast and food was very delicious.

Yelp
Outstanding! Located in Torrance PO or "West Carson" a block away from Harbor UCLA Medical Center. On the outside, it looks like an old restaurant. They have their own dedicated lot. I was here twice, once with a group and a few weeks later with the hubby. Upon entry we were warmly greeted by the staff. The menu is rich with many choices of Chinese cuisine. My all time fave is a sweet and sour protein plate. Here they have pork. Had this scrumptious dish twice and it was still amazing even as leftovers. Check out my photos-- chow mein, scallops and veggies, sweet and sour pork, and even the complimentary dessert of tapioca. All tasted awesome! Big portions! The hubby was wowed at the generous portions of good looking food that was brought to us. Our servers were the sweetest, so attentive and kind. Even though they were masked I can see their warm smiles in their eyes. They are closed on Tuesdays but open all the other days of the week. Excellent Chinese food and service. 5 stars.

Yelp
My family and I have been going to this restaurant for years even when it was still owned by Michelle Kwan's family. We love the staff. They're so friendly and welcoming! We enjoy our usual orders like Xiao long bao, soy sauce lo mein with chicken, chicken with Chinese broccoli, sweet sour pork and shrimp, garlic pea shoots, Mongolian beef, honey walnut shrimp, salt pepper pork chop, and fried rice. They give huge portions of food when dining there. The restaurant is pretty spacious. Great for big parties. Parking is somewhat limited nearby but can park in the next lot if there's space.
google avatar

Valerie D.

Yelp
Restaurant is big but very clean. They have a parking lot which is nice. The service was friendly and prompt. The food was hit or miss, unfortunately. The shrimp in lobster sauce had no flavor. The Mongolian beef and cashew chicken were tasty. The chicken with vegetables was a little bland. Everything though was very fresh and hot. If in the area we would try it again.
google avatar

Yelp
10/10 me and my family love this place. If you are looking for flavorful Chinese food this is the spot to go to. The portions are huge but the food is also good some places have huge portions but the food sucks this is not one of those places. The orange chicken was probably some of the best I have ever had and the pork fried was amazing the pork was tender and soft a must get. I called to order but next time I might have to dine in
google avatar

Yelp
We,picked up takeout. We placed an order for 2 shrimp fried rice, with extra shrimp. 2 BBQ ribs,Singapore noodles, that had pork chicken and shrimp. Cooked to perfectly. Garlic string beans mixed veggies, salt n pepper chicken wings and salt n pepper pork chops. Chicken with black bean sauce. Egg rolls and steam rice. All a 10 authentic flavors. Large portion. The service is always friend and kind. They have a large dining area capacity of 153 max. There appeal parking street and parking lot.

Yelp
The most reasonably priced, fast, tasty, Chinese restaurant you'll find in the South Bay, Torrance/Carson area! They have the most generous servings, including their lunch menu that goes thru 3PM. The service is fast and the ambiance is "old neighborhood Chinese." Our fellow Church goers, The CDA, often reserve a few tables to celebrate BDays & special occasions here... I believe this was Michelle Kwan's parents' restaurant in the olden days? We love their fresh veggies & chicken and also the spicy salty pork chops AND fish... Super Yum and BIG Servings! This place is a favorite by some of our friends from Nativity Catholic School & Church... You will like it here. Come on in and eat, a lot!

Yelp
TLDR; delish food, huge portions, & we'll be back! First time here! I've had it bookmarked for years, and just got to it ... should have come sooner! We tried: -Cream Cheese Wontons (8): Delish! Savory, Creamy, perfectly crisp! Comes w a nice sauce too. -Orange Chicken: big Juicy flavorful pieces, sauce is delish and lots of it. Maybe not as crispy as other places, but the quality of meat makes up for it. -Mongolian Beef: meat cooked to perfection, flavors are good! -House Special Chop Suey: great flavor sauce! Comes w/ Chicken, beef, shrimp, mushrooms, broccoli, snap peas, and tons of bean sprouts. We loved everything. And had TONS of Leftovers. Portions are huge! Also, they wine & beer. Limited options, but it's there! Wine was like 9.50/ea Beer was like 6.95/ea ??? I think! *a lil high? :/

Yelp
Came here for my mom's birthday and it was excellent. Was sat real quick and service was friendly and efficient. We ordered sweet and sour chicken, chow mein, Mongolian beef, kung pao chicken, and fried rice. Everything was great and huge portions. Restaurant does get pretty noisy though so don't bring a date here to talk. But take out is definitely a win.
google avatar

Yelp
Word on the streets is that Michelle Kwan's family previously owned the Golden Pheasant back in the day. Love getting the duck, fried salt and pepper pork chops, sautéed garlic snow peas, filet mignon French style, and beef chow fun dry. The service was fast and really nice. My only issues that dropped a star was the cleanliness. My tea cup and silverware were dirty. Also the presentation of the roast duck. The picture I took is how it showed up at the table. Whenever I order roasted duck from a Chinese restaurant it's cut with precision and placed on a serving plate showing the carving skills of the chef. Sadly it wasn't done here.

Yelp
Always a good time at Golden Pheasant. Party of 3, we got upgraded to a bigger table because our eyes did all the ordering. Food for 2-3 days.

Yelp
Good food great, pice is excellent arrived before closing they were very nice and accommodating

Yelp
Years ago my parents discovered this wonderful Chinese restaurant & our family has been regularly coming here ever since. Delicious food served quickly & steaming hot! Excellent big, generous portions are good for groups. When we can't dine in, we convenient order Take out!

Yelp
No delivery anymore fyi They have good priced lunch specials Sweet and sour chicken

Yelp
We stopped in for late lunch for the first time at this restaurant. We were seated pretty quickly around 3 pm. The restaurant was busy with a birthday party in the back area and other tables about half filled with customers. Our server who took our order was abrupt and not very friendly. It was businesslike and she didn't seem interested in answering questions. Acoustics in the restaurant not great if you're trying to have a conversation. We enjoyed the beef chow fun and price was very reasonable. We also ordered the fried flounder, which was overly fried with a thick coating. Hot and sour soup came with the lunch specials. Don't get the Thai iced tea. It had no flavor. Portion sizes were generous for lunch. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.
google avatar

Sharif A.

Yelp
We were looking forward to the takeout after reading such great reviews. But the food was below average (ordered five dishes). I found myself regretting not going to Panda Express instead. The shrimp chowmein was decent, but I would never want to eat any of the other items. How do you mess up pineapple fried rice (lacked flavor), that will remain a mystery. The bittermelon beef (should be called Boring Beef), house special chicken, and fried garlic squid (over cooked and chewy) were all below average. On a positive note, the portions are large. We'll have to repurpose all the leftovers somehow. The portion and price should be slashed by half I'll never go back unfortunately. It was a very busy night, but that should never be an excuse for making below average food.
google avatar

Roz E.

Yelp
My friend's family tradition is to have Chinese food on Christmas eve, and this is the place they have gone to. I was really looking forward to it, because I was missing my Chinese food. Lol. This place did not disappoint! Everything was so good. Not only that, their portions are huge! Definitely had leftovers to enjoy later! If you're craving Chinese food, then definitely try this place!
google avatar

Yelp
We have been searching for an authentic Chinese restaurant since Seafood Port closed and found that Golden Pheasant offers some of our favorite menu items and also has generous lunch special portions. The salt and pepper pork chops and salt pepper squid need a bit more seasoning for our liking. Their vegetable-forward dishes are tasty well seasoned, and prepared al dente, particularly the mixed vegetables, bok choy with garlic sauce and mixed vegetables. Unlike most take/out places, they include the hot and sour and/or chicken corn soup as part of the takeout orders; however, we found the soup to be too thick and pasty. Service is fast and efficient. Overall, It's worth trying the lunch specials.

Yelp
I love Golden Pheasant. The food is always delicious. It's a busy place but they have enough staff to keep things moving. It's always clean. Decor is just what you would expect. I call my order in to reduce the wait time. The lady that answers the phone is nice but fast. You won't get any small talk out of her over the phone. I've had the broccoli beef, their house fried rice with shrimp and beef, chow mein, bok choy with beef, honey shrimp, spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken, and the list goes on. I've never had a bad dish and their food is not greasy. The portion sizes are plentiful. My last order was the house rice and the broccoli beef. It was enough to feed three people, myself, hubby and my 23 year old son. It is my go to Chinese restaurant in Carson for sure! A must try. So busy eating I forgot to take a pic of the food!!
google avatar

Ambar C.

Yelp
Great food for a great price! This place is budget friendly and gives large portions. The orange chicken was delicious, it's not your typical orange chicken but rather more garlicky orange chicken flavor. The sauce was a bit too much for me, where I felt it was overly dressed with sauce. My favorite dish is the sweet and sour chicken, so crispy and delicious. The half portion of the wonton soup was enough for 4 people plus a few refills. The location has a bit of wear and tear here and there but it still has that feeling of a chinese food sit down restaurant that I remember going to growing up. For. Wednesday night, the place was mellow and had a few other families dining.

Yelp
This place is golden! I can't believe this was my first time ever trying this place, it's truly a hidden gem. Definitely no frills here, quick, straight to the point Chinese cuisine, and I'm not mad about it. They have a huge menu to choose from, and we decided to go with the filet mignon French style, honey walnut shrimp, and combination fried rice. Literally everything hit. The meat was nice and tender with lots of flavor. The shrimps were a good size, nice crispy batter and perfect sauce. And the rice went well with it both. I will definitely be back for the shrimp though! And I would like to try many of their other dishes. I will say, their free tapioca dessert to end your meal could use some help, it was very bland. All in all, the service was nice, they gave us soup on the house! We got the egg drop soup, it was okay, maybe hot and sour will be better. Nonetheless, I am now a new fan, and I will be back to try some other dishes to see what it's hitting for. Happy eats, loves! ^_^

Yelp
I've driven past Golden Pheasant for years and went for the 1st time yesterday. I had no idea this place was so popular! It was PACKED! The food was amazing (portions are huge so beware), service was exceptional. (We had some demanding folks at our table but the servers went above & beyond.) I was overwhelmed by the volume of food & managed to take just one good pic. My faves were the sautéed greens, sautéed scallops & egg drop soup with imitation crab. I also enjoyed the minced chicken in lettuce wrap. The servers came many times throughout the evening refilling our water, tea, giving us extra napkins, etc. Reading the other reviews, it seems like some folks had negative experiences with service but we had the opposite experience. The restaurant staff was like one big family. The interior was bright, clean, attractive (maybe newly renovated). Would definitely return.

Bryan C.

Yelp
A fast casual, Cantonese-centric Chinese restaurant. We ordered takeout for a variety of good eats including Orange Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Chicken and Broccoli and Kung Pao. Each dish was fresh and extremely savory. Nothing extra, just classic, comforting Cantonese cooking!
google avatar

Russ L.

Yelp
Great value for Chinese food in the area. The serving portion is generous. The food is good and delicious. Service could be better, but they are efficient. The dining area is expensive so even when it's busy it doesn't feel cramp.
google avatar

Joyce A.

Yelp
Across our hospital. Best Chinese food around this area. Fast service and excellent customer service. Big servings. It's a must try!
google avatar

Angie W.

Yelp
Food was good. Nice size portions. I had a pleasant experience from the costumer service to the food. I definitely will come back.
google avatar

Donna A.

Yelp
Came back for lunch after church on 3/9/25 and some things have changed in our opinion. The generous portions remain but the taste was not the same as we remembered. They obviously still have loyal customers who are regulars. The staff were friendly and helpful, they deserve 4 stars for that. The food is about 3.5 stars as the taste was lacking from what we are used to. Definitely a favorite local place for their generous portions and friendly staff. Lunch special is available every day and great price for large portions. The ambiance is loud but homey.

Yelp
Do you love leftovers? Then Golden Pheasant is for you! Enormous portions and a menu packed with options likely to please any palate. As each mountain sized entree was placed on our table, I was making notes about how much refrigerator space I'd need to manage these leftovers at home. The 2 of us ordered enough food for a small army. We knew we wanted leftovers but had no idea the portions were super gigantic. The egg rolls were freshly made, but I'd say these were underwhelming, and we would not order them next time. Maybe some Chinese hot mustard would have kicked up the flavor profile, minus that I doused mine in chili oil and the sweet sauce. But again, I would not order these again. Seriously, I'd stop at Fu Sing for an egg roll order, then head here for mains. Word. His spicy and sour soup worked once he added a healthy amount of chili oil and a generous squeeze of Meyer lemon (from our garden). I don't carry vinegar, but if I did, he would have added it, too. He enjoyed a couple of bowls at the restaurant and had enough for 2 more bowls as leftovers. I wonder if we asked, would they have upped the spicy heat? I loved that every entree had chunky veggies - none of those small diced pieces that make you wonder if there are any veggies at all. Red and green bell peppers, onions, cabbage, green onions, chilies, super yummy. Pork fried rice was a hit for him. Big chunks of pork. I'm not a fan because, well, eggs. Kung Pao beef, 3 Ingredient chow mein, Orange chicken, all delicious and served nuclear hot just out of the wok. None of the entrees were spicy, so again, the chili oil was abundantly added. Note for next time: Ask nicely for the spicy heat level to be amped up. Can't miss the bright yellow restaurant just across from Harbor UCLA Medical Center. There is plenty of parking in the lot. Swift and friendly service. Big portions, excellent value. Bring a group. Share the food. Plan on leftovers.

Yoshiko O.

Yelp
Food and service were excellent. Went out of their way to accommodate our large group. Parking was a bit of a problem.
google avatar

Nina W.

Yelp
Pretty solid Chinese food for the South Bay area. We got: -Beef chow fun: Simple, taste good, not too salty. Very solid dish. -Salt and pepper pork chop: MASSIVE portions. and when I say massive, the lid didn't even close. It's super crispy and the flavors are good. -honey walnut shrimp: Good, heavy on the mayo tho -Garlic string beans: Yummy, lots of flavor Comes with free rice Total was about $77 for those dishes and it fed 4 people easily with quite a few leftovers. We ordered ahead and the food was ready in about 15 minutes.

Antonio V.

Yelp
Fast service. The chops and non-noodle beef dishes are above average but noodles dishes and sauces were below average for the price. Pros were the quality of meat but cons were the blandness of the noodle dishes. The great thing is that the place is clean and there are so many dishes to choose from.
google avatar

Lazaire G.

Yelp
Parking is free but limited. If you are looking for fine dining or ambiance this is not that. It is an adorable cozy casual restaurant that has amazing food and Not really intimate as it is a little noisy inside.Best for large groups. The waitstaff is mostly Asian, there are some language barriers but it's nothing but kindness and excellence on service. We were greeted and seated within 5-7 min. There are so many options to choose from. The meal portions are large and definitely shareable. Favorite item of the evening Orange Chicken it's definitely worth spinning the block for.I've never had such delicious orange chicken. Seasoned 10/10.No matter what you choose, their cuisine is delicious.Cooked to perfection, definitely above average Chinese cuisine.
google avatar

Marty M.

Yelp
Great Food and Great prices! Lunch specials are the BEST! Go early- because this place get's crowded at lunch and dinner hours. The wait staff is good. They have a lot of tables if you have a large party. I highly recommend Golden Peasant! Their delicious Fried Pork chops with spicy salt is the #1. Love the beef chow fun too! Check this place out. You'll come back for years to come!
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
My family has been coming here for years and they said nothing has changed! We came on Christmas and they were able to accommodate for a party of 20+ people. We ordered from one of the pre-set menus and it had the perfect variety. We had fried rice, noodles, seafood, beef, soup, and dessert.
google avatar

Alexis R.

Yelp
This place is incredible! I went here with a friend yesterday and got the Mongolian beef, he got sweet n sour pork, and some fried rice. The food was very tasty and there was plenty left over. It was also very reasonably priced. Might just have to come back here myself :)
google avatar

Susan H.

Yelp
Great Chinese food and great service. The restaurant had many different sized tables that can accommodate small groups and big groups of up to 12. The pork chop was good, we saw some one order pork chops with red sauce on it too, that looked very good too. The veggies were tender. Everything was flavorful but not too salty. The XLB were decent, but I didn't like that they were stuck together, my general rule for a great XLB is that they can't touch after being cooked because all the soup will leak out when I try to separate them. But other than that everything tasted great. They offer dessert too, today we got mung bean with tapioca. A nice end to a great meal.
google avatar

Katrina V.

Yelp
The interior of Golden Pheasant has most admirable chi, good energy. They were so kind as to not mind cake and sweets from nearby King's Hawaiian Bakery. Early dinner, late lunch for birthday made extra special. Xie Xie. Many thanks.
google avatar

T D.

Yelp
This place is still somehow a hidden gem. The lunch specials are crazy here. You can get like three days of food for like $50. The food is also way better than the places around here if you know what to order. Service here is great. Come here with a certain mindset that you won't be getting the best service and you'll be happy, I promise you that. I have nothing to say bad about this place. They deserve the 5.
google avatar

Anatalia M.

Yelp
Went with the family to celebrate hubby's birthday. The food was delicious, flavorful and colorful. My 5 year old girls loved the egg flower soup. The sweet and sour chicken was.... CHUNKS of CHICKEN, not just batter. The seafood was not overcooked and you got enough to go around in their servings. Oh yeah, prepare yourself to bring home leftovers. The staff was good and friendly. They would check up on us if we needed anything. Everything inside is kept clean and organized. It does get crowded at points, but hey... that's a good thing. The only bad thing is the parking, you have to look around and hope someone moves. You can park on the street, but also limited. This is a good place to come with a big group and eat family style. We will definitely be back again.

John H.

Yelp
Golden pheasant is my go to place of all times they never let me down. I would suggest that if you have time or if you having a party, you can go ahead and hit them up. Be prepared to have leftovers plenty and be stuffed.
google avatar

Joseph G.

Yelp
My family's new Chinese spot! We keep getting displaced by closures (first China Tea House, then W's China Bistro), and eventually found ourselves here. On a previous trip, my family had gotten the crispy fried wontons, orange chicken, Mongolian beef, and a combo fried rice. We all enjoyed it so much that I decided to bring my friends for a weekend dinner. Golden Pheasant is a fairly spacious sit-down restaurant despite how small the structure appears to be on the outside - great for family / friend outings, or large parties for special occasions. It was busy when we showed up, but we were still seated and served quickly. My friends and I ordered the crispy fried wontons, kung pao chicken, fried pork chop with peking sauce, beef chow mein, and bbq pork fried rice. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and because it's family style, the three of us had plenty to eat, and plenty to take home for lunch the next day. The Hong Kong Express on Artesia and Western is my go-to for quick take-out, but if you want a night out with a good meal (a succulent Chinese meal), then Golden Pheasant is the place to go. Support the small businesses, and toss the PF Chang's and Pick Up Stixes of the world in the bin.

Yelp
Honestly, a great hole in the wall type beat! I was skeptical at first because I wasn't sure if it was open since the entrance is on the side. The food was something my husband and I had been looking for traditional Chinese dining. We used to have another go to but it was shut down. So, we are happy we found this place! Service was good and fast! Just as a tip to anyone-make sure you track someone to seat you and remember to look at the menu right away. There's soooo much to look at and order. Give yourself time because they come to you fast. Only one entree took extra time but all the others came relatively quick and together. The taste is there but as someone that doesn't eat a lot of salt- it was a little salty. Keep in mind I'm more sensitive since I watch my intake. Might be perfect for someone else! My husband said it was just right.

Jamenica R.

Yelp
Price is good. Flavor of food is average. Fast service and clean place. Had better Chinese before. But good enough for potluck.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
We ordered our food via the telephone "To Go" for our very first visit. This restaurant was recommended to us by my niece. My husband picked it up and was very impressed with the inside. The service was amazing! The food was absolutely the BEST Chinese Food we have had in a very long time. We ordered (2) orders of Orange Chicken, (1) order of BBQ Pork (1) Veggie Fried Rice and (1) Pineapple Fried Rice. I wish the fried rice would have had soy sauce and seasonings in it but nonetheless it was excellent. The veggies in the fried rice were delicious and perfectly cooked. Just note that their servings are family size and they can easily feed 4 people. We will definitely come back! They have the BEST Irange Cicken!

Eduardo S.

Yelp
Food this time is a bit salty, service always bad. Always check your orders before you pay, he always change the price or double.
google avatar

Ravi M.

Yelp
Fresh food snd Service was great my go to order is the wonton soup with steamed rice and my honey gets the shrimp fried rice
google avatar

Yelp
The food is great! The service is quick. We order take out often. Always ready when we arrive to pick it up.

Yelp
We come here once a year for a big birthday celebration! Food is great. Fast service but to be treated miserably we will not be returning. The only last worker was so angry at us, got all our orders wrong, said we are taking tooo long to order she decided to bring us whatever she wanted not what we ordered, never brought the hot tea my dad ordered a chop suey she brought a chow mein. Unacceptable to be treated so badly! If you hate your job so much find a new one. Would not recommend this place even when the other workers are super nice she made our visit miserable. Sadly we will not return.
