Google
Best Chinese food we’ve found since moving here! We got the fried wings, beef with broccoli that came with white rice, sweet and sour chicken that also came with white rice, St. Louis style shrimp fried rice & got free crab ragoon. Everything was hot & fresh, containers packed full! Ordered online & it was ready when we got there. We drive 15 minutes just to eat here!

Google
I haven’t lived in this area in 10 yrs so I’m getting back familiar using reviews and social media etc and actually saw this place on TikTok. I don’t know if maybe my expectations are just high because of the reviews or what! Hadn’t come to Google reviews to see the 3.8 that may have changed my mind, but anywho I ordered the house special fried rice, wontons, and chicken wings. The chicken wings may have been ok. I tasted some flavor but they were fried and then double fried and then probably fried AGAIN because they were so dark and hard. Not crispy and golden but almost burnt and they tasted like old grease definitely weren’t fresh but refried old wings. The crab rangoons were literally JUST a smear of cream cheese on a wonton wrapper and folded over then fried. That’s it! The rice was good though actually. The rice and 2 big pieces of shrimp almost were on the verge of mushy though. Lots of those little pork pieces and an ok amount of chicken but definitely only had 2 big shrimp throughout the whole thing. I may try the St. Louis shrimp fried rice one day, but that’s it. For some reason all my pics didn’t save but I did get one of the rice

Google
No good. They need to get better. Crunchy wonton noodles were stale, chicken and beef was going bad. They need to clean the kitchen and get rid of the old food or store it better. Me no come back.

Google
This is one of my favorite takeout places... Very hot, fresh and they pack the containers full. This is my favorite place to get hot n sour soup. It's not watered down like some places, it's hearty. They are busy every time I go pickup my order because the food is good. I love the Hunan beef and Hunan chicken... Sooo good.

Google
Hubby and I placed an order to go. His food was ok but my food was not fresh at all. I order the sesame chicken, fried rice and egg roll. NOTHING was fresh of my order at all!!! Chicken was like rubber and egg roll looked like it had been under the light all day. I couldn’t even chew the chicken I spit it out as you see in the photo. Horrible for 30.00!!!

Google
Takeout Jalapeño Chicken, & Cashew Chicken w/ fried rice and Spring Eggrolls. Absolutely EXCELLENT! I modify my order of Jalapeño Chicken with "soft" chicken instead of the chicken that is the actual Dish. This dish is so large, it's three meals for me! Allan's Cashew Chicken is perfection with an abundance of cashews. He loves it! The Spring Rolls are so tasty, we usually order 3 orders (2 per), but we decided to start ordering 4 orders from now on. 😉 I ordered a side of brown sauce, and it's unlike any brown sauce I've ever had! It's the BEST! I can't even describe it, so try it. If you like brown sauce, you will LOVE the Golden Pot brown sauce! We've ordered takeout several times and have never been disappointed. Allan & I are thrilled to have The Golden Pot as our local Chinese food. We hit the jackpot!

Google
The food is really good. The atmosphere needs a little more attention but other than that the people that work there are nice! It’s definitely a huge plus that the restaurant is open till 10:30 pm!👌

Google
They can't be serious! Drove 30 minutes for pure disappointment. Rice was mushy with no meat. Filled with pork. Orange chicken was so old and dried out I almost broke my tooth. Crab Rangoon didn't have a piece of crab in sight. First and last time.

Yelp
I ordered the orange chicken and the happy family entrees. They were delivered to my hotel within an hour, piping hot, with the food filled to the brim of the containers. The food was absolutely delicious as well. The delivery driver was courteous as well. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Thank you so much. My money was very well spent. $50.00 bucks could feed 4 people . Super good deal.

Yelp
Great local Chinese restaurant that is mainly a takeout. The egg foo young is delicious and the Saint Louis fried rice is one of the best in the area. Great service and nothing spectacular for a takeout place
google avatar

Tom S.

Yelp
Ok for the price it's pretty decent. I mean obviously not the best quality but I can't really complain. It seems as it is a take out only place and kinda felt like eating one of those British a Chinese meals. (I've only seen the videos) Taste is prob more like 2.5-3/5 Service was friendly and it's cheap.

Yelp
I ordered the St. Louis Chicken Fried Rice, plain. Since moving to Texas, I've been trying to find this type of rice, as I'm originally from the Midwest. I was excited to see on TikTok that this restaurant offers it. The rice was really good and met my expectations. It was made to order and fresh. However, when I walked into the restaurant, I didn't feel welcome. The lady at the front counter/register didn't greet me. It wasn't busy at all--there was only one customer waiting and another had just finished paying for their order. There was no warm, welcoming feeling and no real customer service. After I paid, she didn't thank me. When I asked for more soy sauce, she seemed annoyed and only gave me two more packs. While the rice was really good, I probably wouldn't return based on the poor service.
google avatar

Bill N.

Yelp
We tried this place only because we are on the hunt for great Chinese food. This is tough for Texas. But this place was fairly good. My wife is a pretty simple, basic eater. She has very bland tastes. So she ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken. She liked it. I did too. I had Szechuan Beef. Loved it. It was a little bit spicy but I still loved it. I haven't had anything this close to Chinese food since we left CA over 12 years ago now. The only negative I have is that they are very far from where we live. But I will make the trek when the hunger strikes. Their food is quality, fresh and in abundance. Just the way it should be. Keep up the good work. WE will be back!

Yelp
I didn't sit in so I can't speak much on the ambience but the food was amazing. We ordered online and I specified that I wanted my meal spicy and they delivered that plus gave me extra spice on the side. On arrival, there was no extra wait time and our food was ready which was great. The food itself was great, the portion was great and I couldn't even finish it in one sitting and the lo mein was about $10-15 (depending on protein). I will definitely be back!

Baron W.

Yelp
I had the house special fried rice. It was the worst fried rice I've ever had. Rice wasn't cooked thru. It had peas in it. Which mean it was frozen vegetables bag. No bean sprouts. Had 3 whole shrimp. Barely any pork. Shredded chicken. Which ok. More chicken if that's what it was. No egg? What's up with that? For $13 it was small. Do better. I should have took a . But it wasn't worth it. Sad in the area it's in. That's what served.

Yelp
I'm sorry. I was so looking forward to this being a great tasting Chinese food restaurant. The crab Rangoon has no kind of imitation crab in it and the filler is like a sauce not anything of any type of thickness that's inside. The spring rolls had some weird taste. I almost thought it was cinnamon, but I don't think it's cinnamon. However, St. Louis rice is something that is great. That was the saver for the meal, but you have to pay three dollars for that. I got the general TSO chicken and that was not the greatest either and that's one of my favorite dishes to get. It looks like so far in the area, the best place seems to be New York Chinese restaurant.

Anson W.

Yelp
Freshest cooked and tasty Asian cuisine along with fine service and reasonable prices per portions
google avatar

Ruby P.

Yelp
The food was overall good. My favorite was the steamed dumplings (8 pcs). They tasted fresh. Singapore Mei Fun (rice noodles) was flavorful and had good portions. I ordered scallops as an add-on. The noodles were a little spicy. My least favorite was the twice-cooked pork. It's a lot different than what I have seen on Google. The pork I got tasted as boring as what you would've got from those cheap Chinese buffet places.
google avatar

Yelp
I like this restaurant . It is reliable and tasty and the staff (I believe a family?) are always working so hard. We also get these free and delicious fried cheesy things if we spend over a certain amount. They are also open slightly later than other restaurants (which all seem to close at 8 or 9 since COVID), which is nice.
google avatar

Carl T.

Yelp
Outstanding food wings are the bomb , fast service reasonable prices? Great takeout food. The only negative is the inside is not very pleasing and he wouldn't want to sit and eat dinner there but other than that it's wonderful for takeout.
google avatar

Yelp
Beef Broccoli, Broccoli w/ Beef, Broccoli Beef. All the same entree with pretty much the same veggies. What makes this dish is the brown gravy. You get the real flavor of what Beef Broccoli should really taste like. The Broccoli. Never should your Broccoli not be crisp. If not crisp then at least crunchy. So why did I give Golden Pot only 3 stars? I'm going to go with inconsistencies. My first bite of the beef was toughish. First bite of broccoli great crisp. Gravy? Did not taste homemade but if it was it definitely needed a bump up of spices. Something special. Some of the beef was tender. Some of the broccoli was soft. That's a no can do. I might as well add the Crab Rangoons. If that is what they really were. They were sweet. Realizing there was nary a crab, imitation or not I wonder how they got the cream cheese that sweet. I will end this with St. Louis House Special Fried Rice. Chicken, Pork & Shrimp. Husband loved it. This is why the three stars. The saving grace.
google avatar

Debbie B.

Yelp
I don't like giving bad reviews, but we ordered food for the first time last night from Golden Pot and the chicken chow mein was all gummy noodles and practically no vegetables or chicken and the wonton wrapper in the won ton soup was so thick it was inedible. We did enjoy the sweet and sour pork and the vegetables, but the white rice was mushy and flavorless. We had to throw most of it away.
google avatar

Yelp
After living in St Louis for 15 years I MISS St Louis fried rice. This is the 2nd place I've found it in Dallas and I will be back just for that. The General Tsos chicken was not the best but the STL rice made me give it 5 stars.
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
Fast & so delicious. Only complaint is the spring rolls were mushy inside. A bit disappointing but the honey chicken, white rice and fried rice were amazing.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
Ordered from DoorDash so I can't comment on restaurant or staff only the food. Which overall I found to be standard or okay. Egg drop soup was good and what you would expect but the fried wantons that come with it were stale and tasted like oil, so those got trashed. Cream cheese wantons and sweet and sour sauce also okay and the standard for what you would expect. Ordered beef fried rice and paid extra for extra beef and an extra fried egg but that did not seem to be what I received. So while that was a bummer the fried rice was also okay. Now to the over priced orange chicken. This was another item that was trashed. Chicken tasted old and dry. There was way too much breading and the sauce had ample time to sit in the chicken and so the breading was coming off. Just gross. Honestly I think I would just stick to soup and appetizers if I did order from here again.

Kristin K.

Yelp
The best wonton soup! I have a hard time finding a Chinese place that delivers and tastes good. This is that place. Their portion sizes are what I would consider large. I usually get two or three meals out of the broccoli beef. The garlic beef is also a favorite. Don't pass this one up.

Michelle B.

Yelp
Love the special fried rice/ St. Louis style... Love the Beef lo mein..as I always have to make sure I order extra, because it's so good the second day. The beef is juicy and tender and the noodles are as well. Their General Tso is cooked perfectly, and not crunchy and hard like most places around here. The crab rangoon, is the way crab Rangoon should taste. It's so hard to find good Chinese food in this part of Texas, and so far... the Golden Pot has been the best fast food/ take out restaurant that I have found. I drive 35 miles just to come here...that should tell you how awful the Chinese food is where I live. It's worth the drive to come here and as we order and come here it a lot.

Kevin H.

Yelp
Food is terrible now, service is horrible and delivery is awful! Use a credit card to pay and expect it to be sold on the dark web.
google avatar

Parker W.

Yelp
This is our go-to Chinese takeout place in Mckinney. Their food is so good! Jalapeño chicken is my favorite. The portions are also very generous!
google avatar

Marlon M.

Yelp
This is my very first time here and I've lived in the city for over 15 years. It's very good and the prices are reasonable. I had the Hunan chicken with fried rice special for dinner. I will definitely be back.

Brant B.

Yelp
Do not make these people think for themselves, they do not know how to make a good shrimp and beef combo broccoli. The taste was despicable they also gave me steamed rice when I asked for fried rice.

B H.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place! Had some dumplings and spring rolls delivered and they were delicious! Very tasty and warm. Also just noticed they gave me a couple extra dumplings, thank you:)
google avatar

Kaitlyn M.

Yelp
Golden Pot doesn't miss! Everything tastes great. My favorite Asian food restaurant in the area. The only thing I miss are the pork dumplings. We used to get steamed and fried each time we'd order - they were THE best dumplings in the area without question. Now that they've switched to chicken, it's not the same :( please bring back pork dumplings, even if once a week or seasonally! The STL style fried rice is so good, sesame chicken is my husband's favorite, and the egg rolls are fabulous! Dumpling sauce is so so good. Wonton soup is also tasty. Give this place a try!

Brant B.

Yelp
Ordered beef shrimp w broccoli, and it's terrible. They don't know how to make the combo. Taste good. They used a funky sauce. They also gave me steamed rice I stead of fried rice on my order when I clearly stated I wanted fried rice. Won't be ordering again. Goodys Chinese restaurant around the corner is way better
google avatar

Leslie H.

Yelp
They so funny. You can't come in this place only to the hallway. With the new walls they put up to keep people out. And they really need to clean up lol. Glad that food was not for me. I definitely will not be getting nothing there
google avatar

Alex O.

Yelp
For a hole-in-the-wall restaurant their food is really good! It was also cool to find "St. Louis Style fried rice" being born and raised there! I never knew we had a "style" of fried rice but it made me feel like I was back home! Only 4/5 stars because of the wait time but it's still worth it!
google avatar

Greg S.

Yelp
Delicious food. Always hat and fresh. Lo mein is by far the best I've had in DFW. Egg foo young is also delicious
google avatar

Vanessa M.

Yelp
We had sweet and spur chicken delivered with lo mein we got so much food and tasted great only complaint we were at work and didnt get any silverware

Clari B.

Yelp
If you are looking for some real good Chinese food in town I 100% recommend. Very sweet customer service. One of my favorite spots hands down.

Julia S.

Yelp
We went here for the first time last night for a takeout birthday dinner. We were amazed at how good the food was and how nice the staff is! Everything was so fresh and still very hot when we got it home. We did the honey chicken, broccoli beef, pepper beef, mushroom and beef, crab wontons, fried rice, and chow mien. I would recommend all of it, especially the honey chicken! The portions were huge and you could tell the meat and vegetables were very fresh. Plus we have enough leftovers for another meal or two and it tastes just as good the next day. My kids loved it too and they are hard to please. Check them out, you won't be sorry!!

Kevin P.

Yelp
burThey were better a few years ago but they have gotten cheap. For example if your order hunan beef or wny other dish with vegetables they fill it with the cheapest ones they have like zucchini i hate zucchini.. HUNAN BEEF is not supposed to have zucchini. Yet i order it its filled with it and not a single waterchestnut or baby corn like its suppose to have.. 2 mushrooms maybe not even straw mushrooms like its suppose to be.. They have good sauce but in the end they jusy rip you off. They think we dont know better. We do.. its theirs to take if you give it to them. I say stick with the bbq and burgers
google avatar

M R.

Yelp
Very reliable neighborhood Chinese takeout place. Food is tasty and order is quick. Sometimes the phone doesn't get through or no answer, but they are probably just taking someone else's order so call again in a few minutes. The dinner specials with egg rolls are good values.
google avatar

Yelp
Low-quality food Today was the third time I have ordered from this establishment. I don't really care to write a review until the third time because I don't think it is fair to judge until I have given them several chances to be Bad - Good or somewhere in between. My first visit was below average, the second visit was not much better, but today the food was poor. Twice they have overcooked the noodles and made them a bit too soft, almost mushy. The orange chicken which is not that hard to make has been below average all three times. The breading separates from the chicken and the chicken is hard. The egg rolls are about average with very little flavor. The beef broccoli is less than average with low-quality beef. The sweet and sour chicken is actually decent and was a 7/10 so not a lot of complaints there but they have plenty of room for improvement. The fried rice has no flavor and is made like it is for a diabetic. I will not ever be going back to this place and I would suggest that you choose one of the other places in the area. Last, the service is a 1/10. They don't say hi, they don't say bye, and they definitely don't say Thank you.
google avatar

Gen B.

Yelp
We decided to give Golden Pot two more tries. This update is about our second visit after a poor review. We called our order in and picking it up is the same walled out experience. Our order consisted of Kung Pao Chicken, Vegetable Egg Foo Young and Bourbon Chicken with the sauce on the side. Got it home and everything was very good. The order was correct and we even got extra fortune cookies.
google avatar

Mayra R.

Yelp
Just amazing! We come here a lot and today we tried their lunch specials. We dined in, The food was fresh and hot tasted delicious, hot and sour soup needed a little flavor but not bad at all for the price these are amazing big portions. If your trying to eat good Chinese food for an affordable price this place will make you very happy! Flavor is really good, we had orange chicken, vegetable fried rice, General tso, hot and sour soup and the egg rolls so far and it's always good Give this place a try you won't regret it

Christopher A.

Yelp
Food is tasty with good sized portions. This is purely a take-out spot and they are always prompt with their service.

Mike H.

Yelp
The food was awful! Dine-in order beef&broccoli with fried rice. Plate came out quickly but everything was already cold. The sauce was a brown jelly unlike anything I have never seen. Broccoli was raw. Try another Chinese place & leave Golden Pot behind!!!!

Lesley T.

Yelp
Food is decent but their delivery service needs A LOT of help. After an hour of putting in my order, kid who answered the phone says my order is on the way. Waited another 30 min, called back, and now says it will take another 20 min because they are really busy tonight. Understand that but I'm getting different stories each time I call. This is all after he already said my food is on the way. Keep in my mind I live 2 min down the street and didn't have a car to go pick it up myself. I don't understand how it takes an hour and 30 min (and counting) to get my food delivered. I wouldn't be so frustrated if I didn't spend $70 for dinner to celebrate my husbands birthday.

Frances H.

Yelp
Food was delicious. I ordered the Mongolian Beef, fried chicken wings, and pork egg rolls.

Alexandria S.

Yelp
I've been ordering from these lovely folks for about 3 years now. Food is always fresh and the BEST dumplings in the area. Double phoenix, garlic chicken, and the soups are all my faves.
google avatar

Krista G.

Yelp
Popped in for lunch on a Saturday. It was cheap, fast and a ton of food! We got the beef lo mein (4 stars) and general tao's chicken (5 stars) with fried rice and hot & sour soup. I would give them a 5 for speed and value. Needless to say we will have leftovers.
google avatar

Netta H.

Yelp
They have really good food and their prices are reasonable. Their service is extremely good. Our order included the incorrect item once and they quickly replaced it with no problem. 10/25/17 Our new favorite is the Walnut Shrimp. The shrimp are cooked to perfection and the flavor is superb.

Cierra C.

Yelp
I usually get the Saint Louis style rice which is pretty good. Last night I got the beef lo mein . Broccoli was fresh and crisp, sauce was tasty but the beef had to have been fake meat. Was really chewy, almost gummy. I was disappointed
google avatar

L R.

Yelp
The food is decent. The lo chicken lo mein is not the best. It's just chicken and noodles, no vegetables which is whatever but it is mildly plain-tasting. 1 star because when I ordered delivery from them last night they not only added but charged me for additional items that I did not order. My order was one Hot & Spicy beef entree, one large wonton soup, and one chicken lo mein. I received crab rangoons, a double order of chicken lo mein, the wonton soup, and the hot & spicy beef. Total paid was $31.
google avatar

Laura W.

Yelp
Keeping in mind that this is Chinese takeout and not a fancy restaurant, my star scale is slightly different. I would give Golden Pot 4 stars for Chinese takeout. It was pretty good. I got the Double Dragon (which is General Tso's chicken and sweet and sour chicken) and the vegetable spring rolls. The only bad thing I would say about any of it was that the sauce on the General Tso's chicken gets thick and gelatinous when it starts to cool down. It still tasted the same so it didn't bother me but if you have texture issues you might want to consider a different dish. I chose Golden Pot after receiving 2 different Chinese takeout menus on my door and Golden Pot was by far the cheaper of the 2. I would definitely order from them again.
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
I've been looking for good Chinese food in McKinney & thought I'd check Golden Pot out even though they don't deliver to my house. They deliver only to 6 mile radius & sadly I live 8 miles away. So, I ordered off their website which was super easy & was surprised that orders over $35 get a General Tso's chicken entree for free! What?!? That's awesome but is the food awesome? I ordered all my favorites: vegetable eggrolls, pork eggrolls, fried potstickers, sweet n sour chicken, beef & broccoli, & szechuan chicken, fried rice, lo mein noodles, & steamed rice. I expect a Chinese restaurant to excel at these simple dishes. So, I drove across town & picked up my order 40 minutes after ordering. I wasn't surprised that it was located in a small strip mall, had few tables, & the decor was minimal & somewhat dated. The young lady at the counter was pleasant & had my order all packed up. So far so good. Once I got home, I unpacked the order & was pleased that everything was packaged perfectly. No spills. No grease. The sweet & sour chicken was packaged with the top open so the fried chicken nuggets wouldn't be soggy. This was the BEST sweet & sour chicken I've had in a long time! Glad I ordered it & recommend highly for the beautiful white chicken chunks & light sweet & sour sauce! Both kinds of eggrolls were good, I preferred the veggie eggrolls for the crispness. The fried potstickers were good, full of meat filling, had a good dipping sauce, & was perfectly cooked. The steamed rice was perfectly steamed, the fried rice was light & flavorful with little oil taste. Recommend the lo mein too...delish soft noodles, not too oily or dry. Just right. Then came the other entrees: The Szechuan chicken was good, fresh veggies, & big chunks of chicken but abit oily. The Beef & Broccoli was good, fresh broccoli & the beef not too tough but abit oily as well. The General Tso's chicken was okay. Nice sauce & plenty of chicken, not bad at all for a freebie. Everything was fresh, tasty, appropriately priced for the amount of food you receive. Very nice sized portions, two people could easily share an entree. Overall, I would recommend Golden Pot! They passed my taste test on many items & I would definitely order again. Just wished they would deliver to my house! Hint, hint!

Douglas G.

Yelp
Food had no flavor and taste! Was not thrilled with no flavor. Broccoli with extra payment with beef was plain
