"Golden Rock is a beloved hotel nestled into the hilltop of a jungle-covered volcano in Nevis. Acquired by Brice and Helen Marden in 2005, it has become a creative respite for locals and visitors alike. The hotel features tropical-colored bungalows, a pool by Ed Tuttle, and grounds designed by Raymond Jungles." - Elise Taylor

"Farther into the interior, past the stray donkeys and goats browsing roadside, you'll find the Golden Rock Inn, one of many former sugar plantations in the forest surrounding the volcano." - Travel + Leisure Editors

We sat under the tree for lunch. What a peaceful setting! Lobster sandwich wasn’t as good as years past (too much thick bread) but it wouldn’t keep me from coming back. Mom’s Pina Colada with toasted coconut was a hit. This place is magical and a must stop while in Nevis.

Came here for lunch only and it was worth the effort. Food and drinks were delicious and the views from the restaurant are different to the rest of Nevis. You can't see the sea but the array of wildlife and rainforest views is great.

Beware of deceptive fees and poor service. It will ruin an otherwise great vacation if you aren’t prepared. I booked my room on from an external service. As part of my $800+/night charge, were the included taxes. Upon checkout, I was presented with a bill with almost $90 worth of additional fees. The manager referred to it as a “mandatory St Kitts and Nevis service charge” - which is a) false, and b) deceptive. There are no mentions of this additional fee anywhere on the listings if you book through Expedia, booking.com, etc. To make matters worse, the credit from the payment I made to the external service was inaccurate and short by about $60. Instead of investing the time to resolve it, he told me to take it up with the third party. For such a small hotel, where only 2 rooms were occupied in high season during our visit, it seemed to be a really poor level of service that was offered. I’ll never stay here again, and will not recommend. It is a unique property that we did enjoy our time at - that was until the checkout. Very unfortunate.

We went for lunch while visiting the island, the food was very good. Conch chowder and fish of the day(Mahi). So very good. Our server was Melissa and she was just lovely , great smile, quiet, and so nice, a perfect fit for this beautiful establishment. The grounds are incredible, you really need to take you time and lots of photos! Don’t miss out on this:)

My daughter has already given glowing reviews. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The garden pool was secluded, nestled in the jungle but with a clearing that looked off to the sea. I am a gardener and loved the myriad of trees, vines, plantings, etc. The food was delicious, but too much for us. We quickly learned to order less. Our only disappointment was not seeing the Green Vervet monkeys. We were able to see a glimpse of two one day as we were leaving in a taxi. The staff had set up our land/water taxi arrangements from St. Kitts airport to the Golden Rock Inn making it all so easy. A vacation we recommendto all.

Golden Rock Inn is absolutely stunning - it’s like stepping inside a botanical garden in the jungle. Truly gorgeous and such a unique experience. We didn’t stay here, but we toured the property and dined at the restaurant. The service was pretty good (island time for sure - so be patient!), and the food was excellent. Our service wasn’t really friendly, but it wasn’t unfriendly either. With the beautiful property, it was a 5/5 experience. There was a slight miscommunication with our taxi driver - golden rock told us he left because we were running late… but actually he hadn’t, and he was sitting out there waiting for us while we were sitting inside waiting for him. No big deal, but a little confusing. Definitely visit golden rock - it is so special and totally worth it.

You will probably need a driver to get you what was a former sugar plantation. Golden Rock is an inn and restaurant. |You must have the mango smoothie. It is made extremely well. |Every dish from BBQ Pork ribs; snapper; rum punch was outstanding!

The grounds and the amenities at this gorgeous inn (an old sugar plantation), on the side of Nevis Peak, are spectacular. The rooms are large and well supplied, though there is no air conditioning. But the sounds of the jungle and fans made for a very restful sleep. Serenaded by wild donkeys, feeding birds from our porch, and entertained by monkeys made for a wonderful visit. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. One thing we really liked- and haven't seen at other places- is free laundry service! We just left our clothes in the hamper and the next day, we got them back, clean & folded. We took a walking tour of the incredible botanical garden with the head gardener and it was beautiful. We had 3 dinners here, 2 lunches, 7 breakfasts. The dining area was beautiful. Staff are lovely. The dinners were mixed; we had some things we liked and some we didn't. Breakfasts were the best and included with the room. The inn arranged for all our transfers- from St Kitts airport to water taxis, and when we rented a car, they delivered it to the inn.||The only negative issue we had was in checking out. I had booked a special package for my husband & I and the other couple we traveled with, directly on the website. When we went to settle up, the other couple didn't get the special package that was confirmed by the hotel. Their room rate was much higher, despite the confirmation that I presented to them. I was told that they couldn't edit the room rate (because it came from the "states") so we proceeded to spend more than an hour with a calculator (!) and multiple edits, to adjust our companions' bill. I was told next time to book direct. If booking on the website is not direct, I don't know what is. I highly doubt I would have received the special package had I called the hotel directly (something I rarely do). It just left a sour taste on departure for something that was confirmed in writing.
