I want this place to be successful. The neighborhood needs it and the food is pretty good. But they still have some work to do.
First of all, during game/match days, they were overwhelmed. One cook, a bartender, a server, and expediter (I think?), was not enough for a pre-Sounders match rush. Individually, they were all nice people, but not set up for success.
Guest at tables waited for service, some for quite awhile. Walk ins wandered to the cook's line trying to place an order; he was busy and was there was little to inform folks where to go or what to do. It was chaos. We waited patiently, placed our order, but when we finally got our check, the total was a lot more than we had anticipated.
I had to ask for an itemized bill with all the charges, and there was a weird one for "check over $100." We were nowhere near that amount.
When asked, they brought the bartender out who explained it was an automatic 20% gratuity applied for each check on game days. I can understand six or more people at a table, but we had two people in our party. The autograt wasn't printed on the menu, or anywhere in the dining area, but allegedly, it was in the bar in the back, according to the bartender, (I could not verify this). I asked that charge be removed and she said it couldn't be done because "it's a new system and the tech had left." This was unacceptable and eventually she was able to void the check and charge us the correct amount, presumably without the tech hustling back to fix the issue.
I would try this place again, but be sure to review the charges before signing the check and manage your expectations if they are busy. Again, the people are very nice, but they are not yet set up for the demands of a busy game day at the stadiums. Hopefully that will change as they find their rhythm.
