Seattle’s Hottest New Bars, Fall 2024

"Where can you pre-game your next Mariners game with elevated craft cocktails and Korean-fusion bar food in a historical brick-lined building with laid-back vibes? This new Pioneer Square hotspot of course! True to its name (and owner Sean Yoon’s goal of creating a sports bar with “extraordinary fried chicken”), the bar has an extensive chicken menu alongside its beverages. Try the golden poppers if you’re not sure where to start. Their spicy succulence somehow pairs excellently with just about everything on the cocktail list. And with a not-so-secret speakeasy tucked ‘round the back, Golden Roosters is set to stay popular long after baseball season ends." - Brianna Gunter

Google
This really is all about the chicken, but they are putting out some amazing flavors. Everything was super delicious, and the spices made everyone happy. The sweet potato fries were amazing and the slaw, too. Cool that there is an over 21 area as well as a family area to enjoy this fantastic food.

Google
The chicken here was SOOOOO juicy!!! I was visiting Seattle and now that I am gone, I am still thinking of ahow juicy and flavorful it was. Highly recommend. Drinks were great too, and the bartender gal was so nice and talkative. A nice spot. Also serving sizes were plenty!

Google
They were very nice and attentive there, and the food was super delicious. Both the tenders and wing’s were amazing with this thick batter they used. My boyfriend really enjoyed their special house sauce too. And I’d love to note that they separate the bar from the restaurant if you don’t want to go in a bar, I love that. Definitely check it out!

Google
we were in town visiting from Texas and decided to get a late night bite. The owner greeted us at the door . He quickly accommodated our large group in a back bar area. We got our drinks in no time. My beer was ice cold. Our food came out in no time and it was really good! The portions were huge , the wings were hot and full of flavor. If i lived in this area i would be here once a week at least.

Google
The fried chicken is like none other than I've had. It's is so tender and crispy at the same time. The chef/owner is awesome and accommodating too! Definitely recommend this place for a group hang or to watch a game and have a great time!

Google
Was visiting Seattle and wanted some “Korean Fried Chicken” and this place did not disappoint! The wings were DELICIOUS! Sean the owner was awesome and his recipes can’t be beat…And, it is in walking distance to the stadiums!! Perfect place to stop for a beer and wings. Check it out! Next time I am in Seattle it will be our first stop! Thanks again, Sean!

Google
Went here for lunch. Was the only one during the weekday. People need to find out about this place. Got the soy garlic wings combo. Portion size was huge. Price of lunch is comparable to anywhere in downtown. This place is up there for my favorite Korean fried chicken. There’s two sides, restaurant side and bar side. Highly recommend!

Google
The owner Shawn and his team took exceptional care of me and my family for my birthday. I wanted wings for my birthday and they did not disappoint. These are top tier KFC but top tier wings regardless of style. The house made sauces are awesome. The mild K secret had the right balance of sweet and heat. The wings are fresh not frozen crispy and juicy. The fries are crispy soft and not soggy. The brine makes a huge difference in the flavor.

Yelp
Probably the best wings I've ever had. The secret to their success is how they're prepared. They have two versions: a very light batter and one that's a little heavier. The lighter version makes it hard to tell that the wings are even cooked in a batter, but it leaves them with a very light, crispy coating. Good selection of sauces and very yummy. The back half of the restaurant (closed off from the front) is adults only and a great sports bar feel. My son said the wings were a 10. The staff is very friendly and attentive.

Yelp
First time here and service was amazing! Owner was very informative and even let our group try their kbbq wings before ordering! We ended up ordering the kbbq wings and the k-secret wings. The kbbq wings are lightly breaded and crispy! And the k secret wings were more battered but our favorite as the chicken was super juicy!! We will come back for sure!

Yelp
I'll keep this one short and sweet. But not too sweet - I do not understand the hype behind these wings! My wife and I stumbled upon this joint in Pioneer Square and we were literally the only ones there. Sure, it was around 1 PM on a Saturday, but it was eerily empty. No matter - I just wanted to famous wings. We got a mix of KBBQ wings and normal (flavorless?) wings. And despite being the only ones there, we waited about 20 minutes for 9 wings/drumsticks. But it looked tantalizing and steaming when it came out that took our breath away. The good? The chicken cooked perfectly, with nice juicy meat covered in a layer of perfect crunch. The bad? Oh, the wings needed a healthy dose of salt. The flavor was so bland and it was just boring. The KBBQ flavor was lackluster and the plain ones desperately needed some seasoning or sauce. I got bored after the first wing. Golden Roosters is a cool spot for games or to grab some food before a Sounders or NFL game. And sure, the wings probably are amazing...after downing a pitcher of beer or two.

Yelp
Eating at Golden Rooster was a random result after our original plans failed twice. We had parked and paid for parking, so we looked for a place nearby and found Golden Roosters (our third choice of the night, lol) with a Korean menu. I thought it was odd, but I like taking risks and decided to try it. The place is first and foremost a sports bar. When we walked in from the Occidental Ave entrance, a large group seated around multiple tables pushed together was getting ready to do maybe a trivia night or some such thing. They pointed us to the back side where huge screens dominated the wall spaces. The place is closer to being divvy, but not gross kind of divvy, if that makes sense. Given the kind of screens they have, they must have good business during sporting events. A very kind lady server gave us menus and walked us through the items, which was simple enough. The Food: 9pc Wings + 2 sides Combo, $21.99 - 3 Stars The Corn Cheese is the most expensive side at $9.99, which is supposed to be one of the better or best sides. The 9pc wings are $16.99. It's a no-brainer to just order the combo. We choose the KBBQ Wings, spicy version + corn cheese + sweet potato fries. For the amount of food, it is reasonably priced. The wings size was kind of small, and they were rather dry. The corn cheese was salty. The fries were newly fried and were the best amongst the three items in this combo. Cream Udon $13.99 + shrimp $4 - 3 Stars The udon has a good chew, not the slightly mushy variety if it was previously frozen. The shrimp was four jumbo prawns. The creaminess was very good. I feel like I wanted something else in this dish. I usually have this with more ingredients - mentai (salted roe) or more seafood or some veggie. This dish only has the green garnish. I am tempted to round up to 4 stars because the server lady was very, very nice to everyone. But the food is much closer to 3 stars.

Yelp
My friend introduced me to this fun Korean spot recently. It has a cool "secret" entrance and opens onto the back alley on warm days. We tried a variety of dishes, and they were all phenomenal! The fried chicken was very crispy and flavorful! 10/10 We had the corn cheese as well and it was so gooey and melty. Delicious! The creamy udon noodles were a big hit. Highly recommended! They also have some great tasting cocktails on the menu. The staff were awesome! Very friendly and helpful. I look forward to trying this place again soon!

Yelp
Nice place with friendly staff. Got their tofu burrito. Inside was a lot of crispy fried tofu, fries, cheese, and a bit of veg (cabbage, I think). A little dry, so the salsa was key. That tasted like it was from a jar but was totally fine. Their onion rings are great. Wanted a nonalcoholic beer and was happy they had Athletic.

Yelp
Golden Roosters is a fantastic little speakeasy bar tucked away with a cool hidden entrance in the alley--definitely adds to the fun vibe! I visited on a Sunday during the Washington vs. Washington State Apple Cup game and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to grab a seat at the bar. Even on game day, it stayed chill and never got rowdy, which made for a really relaxed atmosphere. The bartender was probably the nicest I've encountered in a long time. He was super helpful with drink and food suggestions, and everything he recommended was absolutely on point. I tried the 9 Korean BBQ wings with Sriracha sauce on the side, and wow--those wings were perfection. They were crispy, packed with flavor, and perfectly cooked. I also went with the bartender's suggestion to split my sides between fries and Korean Corn Cheese, and that combination was amazing. Each bite was full of incredible flavor. If you're looking for a laid-back spot with great food and drinks, Golden Roosters is definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
Come here for the wings and service !! The staff was so friendly and helpful, they made the experience fun!! The KBBQ wings were everything I wanted them to be! The hot was hot!! The sides are not the star of the dish for sure! But the wings will bring you back!!

Yelp
Located near pioneer square and walkable from most downtown office locations, this place had amazing chicken wings. They were cooked Korean fried chicken style, where is it little to no breading. It is double fried, giving it an amazing crispiness with a delicious and juicy interior. I could have devoured 20 on my own. We got a couple orders of the cheese tteokboki. It was good. Next time I'll get the spicier version.

Yelp
I went here with a friend during a Monday weeknight to a very empty restaurant that quickly filled up as we sat down and ate. There's plenty of seating inside, including tables for large groups and bar seating. Three big TVs are placed in the dining area where the cashier and kitchen are, and they were broadcasting football at the time but we couldn't hear much from the speakers. Personally, I loved the service here! They were quick and fast on getting any water refills or utensils my friend and I needed. They even gave me and my friend a sample of their KBBQ wings before we ordered! We ordered the bulgogi tteokbokki, chicken cream udon and a 9-piece regular chicken combo meal that comes with two sides (we chose chicken chicharron and corn cheese). The creamy udon was my most favorite dish due to it having a ton of flavor and having a rich texture to it. The bulgogi tteokboki felt plain despite the bulgogi meat inside. Their chicken wings and the sides that we chose were delicious. Eventually as more people came inside the restaurant, one of the servers turned the volume up for the game that was broadcasting, and the place definitely felt more like a sports bar than when I first came in. Their KBBQ wing sample was very good and I'd come back again to have them next time!

Yelp
Craving for chicken and found this from Yelp with good reviews. The menu had plentiful variations and the server gave his recommendations based on what we wanted. We ordered wings and cheese chicken tenders with several dips. Also fries and m/c. The wings were flavorful and the tenders were moist and juicy. The owner came around and chatted about his business. I wish him well. As we were leaving, a bunch of customers were coming in

Yelp
Cute little sports bar. Nice stop for a beer and chicken with friends. Super informal.

Yelp
Wandering downtown Seatle in the Pioneer Square area can be an adventure, this time we stumbled across the Golden Rooster and had some really delicious fried chicken and fries. The Soy Garlic is amazing. We also got some thighs and dums with Buffalo sauce. Taste was incredible, but the thighs seemed a bit small. The fries were ok. They need some special proprietary seasoning to stand up to the wings in my mind... Over all a great experience. I hope they do well, we'll be back for more.
google avatar

Alanna L.

Yelp
Our server greeted us kindly and answered all our questions. He asked if we wanted to try the kbbq sauce we asked about and he brought it out on wings to try! We ordered the bulgogi cream udon, medium crispy thigh bites, and kbbq 9 pc wing combo. We got the corn cheese and sweet potato fries, they were both good but the fries were really salty. The udon was good and came out very hot! I had the watermelon margarita which was good, but we came here for the food. That being said, not drinking alcohol and having salty food definitely emptied our water glasses! It would be perfect with pickled radish so it's less heavy. We asked if they had any and he gave us some yummy pickled cucumbers so that was really nice. Large portions, nice staff, sporty vibe. Would come again!

Yelp
Drumsticks were good, but the chicken tenders were reallllllly dry. Both were seasoned well, but they need to either change the oil or not fry it until it's dark. Tried to order the corn cheese, but it was not available to go. Fish and chips were ok, fries colud be a little bit more crispy or seasoned. The wait was a bit long for the food, esp as a to go order.

Yelp
Hands down the best Korean Fried Chicken I've had. Im from Seattle, but have been living down in LA for the last 12 years, and I love me some KFC. Had some friends back home tell me about this new spot that just opened up with really good KFC, so I had to make sure this last visit to check this spot out. First off this is in Pioneer Square, and I know most people will complain about just having to go to downtown and Pioneer Square on top of that BUT TRUST ME , you will want to put that feeling aside after you try these wings. To start off the original wings here have the perfect kick of spice brined right into them. Typically KFC spots live and die by their sauces (Kyochon, BHC, Pelicana, etc) , but this is the first time i've had a chicken wing with that brine you might know from jollibee hot chicken wings, but way more elevated. To add to the perfect kick of spice to the wings the batter here is unique. Perfectly crunchy. I'm not sure what the mix is, possibly a mix between flour and rice flour for that extra crunch, but its not an overbearing batter. To be clear the batters up batter option is the way you want to go if you dont like a super battered wing. They do have the Golden rooster batter for the batter lovers, but I do think that takes away from the natural goodness and flavor from that spicy brine I touched on earlier. For the Koreans the Anju here is pretty solid. Corn Cheese solid. Udon solid, but the chicken wings here are a 100% Full send here. They have a full bar here as well in the back, so if you want more than Soju then you got a spot that has it all. They're open during the day as well, so you have the option to try these wings mid day for those that dont want to traverse Pioneer Square at night. anyway clearly now one of my favorite places to eat whenever I'm home visiting. Some of the best KFC ive ever had.

Yelp
Amazing wings - super crispy. Decent job on onion rings but nothing special. Clearly a Sounders spot, there's a bar that's sort of connected where you can get a drink. Priced reasonably
google avatar

Lulu

Yelp
The chicken wings were just okay... a nice crispiness but flavor was just spicy and sweet. Nothing special. They forgot our order of a bulgogi burrito. And we got a cider which tasted pretty good. The floors were a little sticky and the toilet had a barf Stain on it. The server was running around somewhat attentive.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely incredible chicken wings, fried chicken, & cocktails. Open late, which is impossible to find in Seattle these days. Fantastic owners, friendly staff, awesome historical building. 100% recommend getting some of this Korean fried chicken into your life ASAP

Yelp
Ok Seattle, let's get something straight - it's hit or miss when it comes to food. It's so much harder to find good food or even trust reviews. But this place, this place is legit. The owner Shawn - he from Houston. Which means he knows food. And it shows. We ordered the naked wings, the soy garlic wings, the dark meat (thigh and drums), and the tenders. You can't go wrong but the highlight are the wings. Crispy while juicy, with just a kick of heat. You can order additional sauce on the side but it was unnecessary. The chicken is marinated and well seasoned that you don't need the additional sauce. But it comes out fresh, crispy, and juicy. The ambiance is chill, a good place to catch the game and hang out. Clean bathroom. Didn't really check out the bar but probably great because the service we got from Shawn and the others were awesome. Plus, open until 2AM which doesn't happen in Seattle. One caveat - this in middle of Pioneer Square. Even while we were there, couple of drunk people wandered in and caused a little bit of a scene, which I thought the restaurant staff handled very properly. I think that's a positive for the restaurant.

Yelp
Best chicken I've ever had!!!! The chicken wings and drumsticks were so juicy! Loved the Korean BBQ wings, great flavor and good size wing! Didn't need a dipping sauce. Drumsticks were marinated over night and fried to crisp perfection! I would highly recommend ordering, doesn't need sauce but we ordered an array of sauces to dip in! Was delicious! Bestie ordered the chicken sandwich, was so in love and for not being a coleslaw lover finished every bite! Onion rings were cooked in house and were crispy and delicious, came with horseradishy fry sauce I ordered more of! Owner Sean gave us cheesy corn and it was the best I ever had. Loved the honey and crispness. The rice cake skewer with the chili sauce was the perfect dessert to pair with my watermelon margarita! I ordered the watermen margarita, it was light and delicious. Bestie ordered Golden Rooster, and loved how sweet it was! Bartender Najet was so friendly and attentive! Great food, good drinks, amazing staff! Awesome location near stadium! Restaurant has been open two months, food menu just expanded a few days ago. I hope others go support this business we were the only customers for lunch on a Saturday.

Yelp
Chicken- immaculate. Crispy hot crust with a seasoned juicy center, likely a well seasoned brine. Had a side of Nashville hot sauce which was the perfect intersection of smokiness and spice. Vibes- immaculate. Ventured to the back sports bar where they had playoff basketball going with some background millennial era hip hop and r&b... mmmph, 10/10. Service was friendly, attentive and accommodating. No bad vibes, loved it.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow the chicken is amazing here. Never had anything like that before. Got the 3 tenders probably the best chicken I've ever had. Such good flavor to the chicken and the crunch. Wow. Highly recommended.

Yelp
First try and found the Olympics on a giant screen, a cold Rainier and tasty choices from a broad menu. Got dunplings and ramen loaded with chicken. Service by Jessica was excellent. Great experience overall.

Yelp
Happy that there is a bar in Pioneer Square that serves amazing Korean fried chicken, corn cheese and creamy shrimp udon! DELICIOUS!

Yelp
Excellent Korean Friend chicken. We ordered the thighs and legs, and they were super fresh and piping hot.

Yelp
Randomly went out to get wings tonight and was so surprised by the quality ! The wings were plain but had sauce on the side and honestly didn't even need them. They were flavorful and juicy alone but the Yang yum was bomb too. I will say that if you were to order anything from here please get the creamy udon. Easiest 5 in awhile.

Shenika B.

Yelp
The wings are the absolute best! Complete vibes here. I wasn't sure what to expect actually but omg. We did not wait long for our cocktails and the food came out fast as well! Very satisfied

Yelp
I was in town visiting and noticed that there was a Grand Opening sign outside of the old Casco Antiguo. I worked there for a bit years ago so decided to see what the new owners had done with the space. I chatted with the owner Shawn for a bit and he offered my friends and I a few soy garlic wings to sample. They were perfectly crispy, juicy and full of flavor. They were so good that we decided to get 18 wings and watch a bit of the AC Milan game that they had on. This spot is a nice addition to the neighborhood and will be perfect before or after any of the games in the area.
google avatar

Bart T.

Yelp
I want this place to be successful. The neighborhood needs it and the food is pretty good. But they still have some work to do. First of all, during game/match days, they were overwhelmed. One cook, a bartender, a server, and expediter (I think?), was not enough for a pre-Sounders match rush. Individually, they were all nice people, but not set up for success. Guest at tables waited for service, some for quite awhile. Walk ins wandered to the cook's line trying to place an order; he was busy and was there was little to inform folks where to go or what to do. It was chaos. We waited patiently, placed our order, but when we finally got our check, the total was a lot more than we had anticipated. I had to ask for an itemized bill with all the charges, and there was a weird one for "check over $100." We were nowhere near that amount. When asked, they brought the bartender out who explained it was an automatic 20% gratuity applied for each check on game days. I can understand six or more people at a table, but we had two people in our party. The autograt wasn't printed on the menu, or anywhere in the dining area, but allegedly, it was in the bar in the back, according to the bartender, (I could not verify this). I asked that charge be removed and she said it couldn't be done because "it's a new system and the tech had left." This was unacceptable and eventually she was able to void the check and charge us the correct amount, presumably without the tech hustling back to fix the issue. I would try this place again, but be sure to review the charges before signing the check and manage your expectations if they are busy. Again, the people are very nice, but they are not yet set up for the demands of a busy game day at the stadiums. Hopefully that will change as they find their rhythm.

Elsie C.

Yelp
Disappointed Before I Even Got There I saw their creamy udon on Instagram, and it looked so good that I decided to give it a try. I had my kid with me, so I wanted to call ahead to make sure it wasn't a bar and that kids were welcome. When I called, I was met with a rude "hello" that made me think I had dialed the wrong number. I hung up and tried again, but the same unfriendly voice answered. That was enough for me to change my plans and take my business elsewhere. I want this business to be successful--it looks like a fun atmosphere with good food. I hope this feedback can help improve the customer service experience. Maybe the guy on the phone was just having a bad day. I would give this a try again, but just hope I won't be disappointed.

Jason L.

Yelp
This place is great. My coworkers and I are addicted to coming here. The KBBQ wings are amazing. They are good size wings with juicy white meat with a crispy breading that crunches when you bite into it. Dipping sauces are great. Also, in the back room they make excellent cocktails. They also have several TVs with games on. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Beyond great food and service!! The 3 times I went there, everything was great!! They also played the best music.
google avatar

Bernard M.

Yelp
Some of the best fried chicken I have had in the city. Nice that is is close to pioneer square and on the way to the stadiums

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Wings were soooo good and crispy! There's a speakeasy rave vibes downstairs after hours but it's very lowkey during the day. Great service. Food came right away. Will definitely come back before a game.

Rebecka W.

Yelp
This place is great! The wings are amazing and great customer service! Everyone was very nice and attentive!
google avatar

Yelp
Food here was great! Pretty new place, so pretty quiet for lunch but I'm sure night time is different. Loved the food and service and am looking forward to coming back. 10/10

Michelle M.

Yelp
We were looking for a late night snack after a concert and were recommended this spot, it exceeded all expectations. Such a great vibe/ambiance, friendly staff, amazing music, and the food was insanely flavorful. We got the Korean wings, cheese corn, and onion rings - all were to die for! Can't wait to come back, so glad we found our new spot!!
google avatar

Susan W.

Yelp
The chicken wings were delicious crispy outside and tender and moist inside. They have a wonderful selection of sauces from sweet and tangy to hot and spicy. I would definitely recommend. On a less positive note their tenders were a little overcooked and stringy and the mashed potatoes were obviously instant. The service was excellent and the bartender, OZ, was super nice and accommodating, as was all the staff. They have a big screen for games but travel down the hall to the semi secret back bar for the best service and atmosphere.

Christopher S.

Yelp
The KBBQ wings are some of the best wings I've ever had. The chicken dumplings were also great. Good service and great environment.

Mary P.

Yelp
Don't miss out on some of the best wings you will ever have! The owner gave us a sample of the Korean BBQ wings and we were hooked. They were amazing!! If you are ever in the Seattle waterfront area, you will want to check out Golden Roosters!!

Scott A.

Yelp
I Was in Seattle on business with a colleague. We were working late and stumbled across the Golden Rooster on the way back to the hotel and gave it a try. We did not regret it. The menu is eclectic and the service at the bar was great. And the food was just as good as the service. That alone would rate a 5 star review. But then I forgot to get the receipt on my way out (needed it for my expense report) so I reached out by phone a couple of days later. I had an emailed copy of the receipt in my inbox in just a day or two. Above and beyond. If you're in Seattle, definitely give this little gem of a restaurant a try.

Joe H.

Yelp
Sweetheart staff and great food. I'd never tried cream udon, but it tastes just like fettuccine alfredo but better. Amazing wings. The owner is a real mensch.

Lorena R.

Yelp
Amazing food! The taste of the chicken was amazing, and the potstickers and sauce that accompanied them were the best I've had. I had ginger soy wings that were excellent, chicken was crispy on the outside, but super juicy, and the sauce was next level. Super friendly staff, would highly recommend, and would come again when visiting Seattle.

Tom C.

Yelp
The chicken was the best i have so far in seattle. Service was good and ambiance a little bar...ish more than restaurant?....yes its a sports bar....but i guess i was going for the food. The sour beer was good too. It was hot in there and cleaniness ...is bar..ish as well.

Grant C.

Yelp
Best fried chicken I've had, crispy outside and cooked well inside with a lot of options for sauce

Steven L.

Yelp
Great place for late night chicken wings and if you're in downtown/pioneer square area and looking for somewhere to catch the UFC fights, this is the place to go!
