Fabulous food, friendly and helpful servers and staff, very comfortable seating, bight and cheerful ambiance. Highly recommend the spring rolls, sesame chicken, and spicy veggies with tofu. Fresh and delicious. Recommend this excellent restaurant, and will happily return.

Stopped in at Golden Star for the first time last night. It was around 7:30, and they had clearly just cleared out from their dinner rush. Even so, we were seated promptly and the service was excellent. The food was also great! We got the Super Star Family Combo and it was easily enough for 2-3 meals. We took most of it home and still left full. Everything came out hot, fresh, and was good quality. The meal came with egg rolls (amazing. Some of the best Chinese-style egg rolls I've had in the area), wonton chips (very fresh and crisp), soup, Almond Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Pork Fried Rice, fried shrimp, Sizzling Beef, and BBQ Pork (that hot mustard is no joke, but delicious). With all of that, a soda, and one cocktail, the meal was under $60. Great value, great service, great food. We will definitely be back to try some more of their dishes!

Some of the lowest quality food I’ve ever had bad in every way dry, flavorless, and boring. Got the chicken curry and the orange chicken very very disappointing couldn’t even finish the meals they were so bad.

Has to be the best in the area! Just had my birthday dinner there with my family, it was fantastic! Now I'm biased because we've been going there for years. I forget the waitresses name is ( my sister knows, ) but she made me a cute little rice cake and the staff sang. Now what they didn't know is I'm fighting cancer and they made me very happy.

Best American Chinese food I've found pretty much anywhere. We always get orange beef with extra broccoli (it tastes ever-so-slightly of orange zest). Otherwise, I look forward to the chow mein and the almond chicken. But, honestly, it's all good. Also, the service here is phenomenal! I always leave feeling really appreciated. It has that dated decor that hits nostalgic, but it's a clean place. I used to do pest control and I've never seen anything alarming.

I have been seeing reviews that this place was great, so my daughter and I had to try it out. Large portions and pretty great price! My daughter got the combination sweet and sour and I got the prawn shrimp fried rice. Between the time we got there and got our food, over 12 carry out orders went out the door. (Probably more like 20+) Will definitely go back again!

I've recently revisited this spot and I'm glad I did. They close at 10pm which is better then most around town. I've tried a few things but my favorite go to is the butter garlic chicken (boneless) and the house fried rice. I would have taken pictures but I couldn't wait and I ate all the food already sorry that's how good it was. The staff are friendly and service is quick...

Absolutely disappointed! I’ve gone here before 5/6 yrs ago the food was great! I live in port orchard but happened to be in that area. Absolutely waste of my money! Shrimp egg foo young had canned shrimp, #4 lunch was supposed to be beef/broccoli I got pork ! $50 spent for really bad food! Even the pork fried rice was bad! I haven’t eaten the war won ton soup but based on everything else I’m not expecting much!

This restaurant has been around for decades. It's not near as good as it was several years ago, but they still servie decent Chinese food. I love the fact that they'll bring my order to my car because I walk with a walker. And every person that's ever brought it to my car has been very sweet. The menu is decent with a lot of variations on a theme. Even after all these years, we do miss the big egg rolls that they used to make, that kind of made them famous in my opinion back in the day. Other than that, the food is hot with good flavors. And the portions are definitely ample. Just depending on which dish you get, it may be hit or miss as far as being completely satisfying. I'm glad they're still in business after all these years. Again, I'm sorry they don't have those delicious egg rolls they used to be famous for. Yet, I do like the portions and the freshness. So when in bremerton, if I want chinese food, I'll get my curbside to go from here.

A neighborhood staple the decor hasn't been changed in years, but that's the charm of this place. The food is served in above average size portions. The service is pretty good. The waitresses have been there for years so they have good suggestions for what to get. The atmosphere inside is early 90s Chinese restaurant and hasn't been updated since, which adds to the charm. the food is delicious and leaves no doubt why this place has been in business for so long. I highly recommend this place.

We love this place and have been going here for years Their BBQ Pork is the best we've ever had and we've never had a bad meal

We ordered: White rice fried crispy wings (5/5) kungpao chicken (3.5/5) - basic flavors, huge cuts of meat chicken chowmein (2.5/5) - not a fan when kitchens put a lotta veggies with a little noodles, I want chow mein not chow veggies sizzling beef (2.5/5) - not what I expected; not sure what the sizzling plate added to the dish that a normal plate wouldn't accomplish. Most times when there's a sizzling plate you'd expect the plate to help the meat hold a sort of charred flavor? but it was just typical starchy veggies with blubbery beef wonton chips (4/5) - my child loved it, partner felt it was basic A cola (2.5/5) - watered down and my child didn't even finish it I'm not sure if it's the norm to always tenderize their meat but unfortunately, when the meat in all the dishes we order are all tenderized by baking soda, we do not enjoy the flavors as much. I don't know if it's because tenderized meat doesn't hold the flavors of the dish well or that the marinade is just mediocre but we had a lukewarm warm dining experience because all the dishes just tasted the same. The staff were good and in my opinion the ladies felt misplaced by the performance of the dishes. The quality of the food should match their service.

Golden Star has always been my family's go-to restaurants for as long as I can remember and it's just as good as back then. The orange chicken and pork fried rice is a favorite of mine and I love dinning in the restaurant. The service is nice and the waitress was very helpful and she pointed out the difference between the sweet and sour chicken and orange chicken to me(my mom calls it orange sweet and sour when she orders it so that's why I was confused)

This place has been around since I was a kid, and every time I eat here I am surprised how good it is. Clean, Friendly staff, food is fresh and delicious!

Both for dining in and take out this food has been absolutely incredible, fresh and delicious! The staff is so friendly, kind and quick and the ambiance is traditional and lovely. Thank you for a wonderful meal!

THE BEST IN WA ! What a great family since 1962 the place is always clean smells good very friendly staff the food is always perfect hot taste wonderful fresh prices considering the world we live in today are great they do not charge for hot tea as most Chinese restaurants do now and they are still the cheapest. If you want excellent Chinese food with excellent service, go to China star! They do very well with small and large groups. They have a bar lounge in the back of the restaurant that sells the best strongest drinks in Washington state. The owner in the family during the pandemic when they had to close pay their entire staff, their weekly wage during the pandemic. Well, everybody worked to clean and remodel the restaurant. Wow.

The food here is second to none in the area, the quality, taste and consistency is amazing. They are always busy but when you go in for a pick up them always have time for a chat. I have not eaten in but it looks great and they seem to spread people out as best they can to allow conversation. Highly recommend, I wish they would sign up for. Food delivery service but too be honest they don't need to ...

I ordered broccoli chicken, egg rolls and soup ... 40 bucks! The broccoli chicken had no garlic, no ginger, no oyster sauce, no flavor...NOTHING! It was cooked in what was probably corn starch and water....milky, flavorless slim!!! They should be ashamed to charge this much for such garbage!! I will NEVER order from here again!!

The food is really great here! For most part, this Chinese food is top notch for Bremerton. They have good customer service for pickup. I have not order in but, my experienced was very easy, and delightful for pickup. They have a great welcoming ambiance inside the restaurant, it's clean, and their services are handle in a timely manner. The only thing I would suggest is do not assume it's cheap Chinese, it has two dollar signs for a reason. This can't be an everyday purchase due to the prices being so high during this inflation.

This was our first time ordering from Golden Star, and unfortunately it was disappointing. The egg rolls were tasty, but the rest of the food was not very good. The potstickers were not flavorful and were made with too much dough and not enough meat. The pancakes for the moo shu beef were very dry, like thin tortillas that had been left out for days prior, and they came in a set of 5 rather than 6. The veggie/meat mix was very light on the beef. The portion of general tsao's chicken was good, but the breading was soggy. It's possible that this was just a bad day or bad order for the kitchen, and I did notice that they were hiring more kitchen staff inside the restaurant. We'll give this place another try in a few months to see if it's any better, but we will go elsewhere next time.

The food was delicious and they give you generous portion sizes. It was our first time dining here so we played it very safe and order items that were pretty difficult to mess up ie: pork fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, egg rolls. They did package the sweet and sour sauce on the side instead of giving us soggy chicken which automatically earned their service huge points in my book. We will probably adventure more into the menu in future visits and update the review then.

Probably more of a three off food but they have beautiful decor that you wouldn't be able to tell from the outside. Im mainly hoping this was just a bad day to go. Got the vegetable chow mein and based off reviews i asked could we get more chow mein than vegetables. Instead of just giving us less vegetables they just gave us more chew mein and charged us +3 dollars without asking and i don't think i seen that much more noodles. Then the orange chicken was almost soggy/mushy it was a weird texture but it wasn't bad; my wife couldn't bare the texture and i had to fight through it at first as well. Also asked for just a side a rice was 3.50 and it was a size of a good ice cream scoop. But all that said the Chew mein was delicious i see potential please prove me right.

Spent right under 50 dollars for my girlfriend and I, got home and opened our food to small boxes rather than a normal size portion. Ordered pork fried rice, deep fried shrimp, orange chicken and egg flower soup. The only portion that was decent was the soup. I've never ordered Chinese food and spent 50 dollars to not have left overs. Finished our food and was still hungry, would not recommend this place. The food was decent but not at the price for being left still hungry. The restaurant was extremely busy and it seemed like they divided the food among the people that were waiting for takeout orders to shuffle us out of there quicker. I don't normally leave reviews but this experience left me mad, I won't be ordering from here again.

The food is below average. Tea is ok. Soup does not have too much taste and seems like it was not cooked the same day. Beef oyster has a very beefy taste, in a way it's not good. It tasted like boiled and not stir fry. And the chicken is ok. The food was not warm. I would have given 1.5 star but I'll do 2 stars because of their nice service. The waiter tried to explain the menu and what's on it. Ambiance is ok. A little bit dark.

Reviewed this restaurant not long ago and enjoyed our takeout choices, so returned for more takeout to try different menu items. Unfortunately, this time it was a total bust. Had their eggrolls ($8.95 for 4). The filling was fine, but the rolls were seriously greasy, and I mean seriously greasy! That usually means the oil wasn't hot enough and they were too quickly drained. Then we ordered the Cashew Nut Chicken ($16.95), the Curry Shrimp ($18.95) and the Tofu With Pea Pods ($16.25). We ordered the Curry Shrimp 5 star, which was just the right spiciness for us...fairly spicy. The 10 star must be explosive! There were huge servings of everything...enough to easily feed four. But everything tasted the same and the veggies were absolutely cooked to death (except maybe the carrots). Best described as a mushy mish-mash. This was not well-cooked wok food (and I cook a lot in a wok at home). Obviously no consistency here, so I'm seriously questioning whether I'd ever return. Kitsap is sorely in need of a GOOD Chinese restaurant since the Mandarin closed in Silverdale. Lots of Thai and Vietnamese, but sorely lacking real Chinese.

Close your eyes. Imagine the smell of soy and fire, the sweet and savory noodles dancing playfully across the wok. Now imagine the sounds of people eating and praising the food. Now open your eyes. Yeah this ain't that place. It's good if you're starving. Avoid and go to Panda Express.

Great food and great prices. The service was amazing. Environment is awesome! I totally recommend coming here!

Delish food! Wanted to post a menu so there is an updated one instead of the other pics from 2yrs ago.

First off, this is our second time coming here so far and it will be our go-to place when it comes to Chinese food in the area. The food is great and the portions are even better. I've never had egg drop soup that had so much flavor. The noodles and rice are probably our favorite sides. We tried their crab puffs and by far the best crab ragoon. They are crunchy and the crab is sweet. The workers here each time have been fantastic. They are all so nice and welcoming and very helpful. We feel comfortable bringing our toddler here, it is family friendly environment.

You gotta love a restaurant that not only has amazing Chinese food (I recommend the sizzling beef and sweet & sour anything!), but also serves a strong drink! Win win! The waitresses are super nice & attentive, and the food comes out pretty fast. There's not a lot of ambiance in the big dining room, which does accommodate large parties, but if you ask for a booth, it seems more like an old school Chinese restaurant that you'd go to when you were a kid! Give it a shot! *We always get a 2-person combination meal, and it fills up 3 of us, plus leftovers!

We went back after the pandemic. Everything is still good BUT they got rid of what was, in my humble opinion, the BEST thing on their menu. The EGG ROLL.. now they're just like everyone else else's. I've learned to make a distant second. Yeah, I like egg rolls..

Excellent Cantonese and Chinease food. Prices are about mid-high, but definitely worth it. Except a slight wait as they are often very busy. Highly recommended!

We've searched for years for delicious authentic Chinese food and finally found it at Golden Star. We ordered chicken chow mien, sesame chicken, bbq pork fried rice and egg rolls, all delicious! They give you the option of soft or crispy noodles with the chow mien. First time we have found crispy noodle chow mien anywhere. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

Stopped in on Saturday evening. Seated quickly and orders taken right away. There were a few tables taken, but lots of room remaining. We ordered the largest family style combo. Appetizers came almost immediately. The main courses came in a timely manner. All were hot, fresh, and all were pretty tasty. There were plenty of leftovers to take back to the room for snacking later. The service was fast and friendly, the restrooms were clean, and the place in general was clean.

Best Chinese around! Been going there for years. Food is amazing. Try the sweet and sour chicken! Service is always top notch and if you eat in, be ready for near traditional style.

Great food. We've eaten there before (I'd been there before years ago with my ex wife and her family well over a decade before). This time we did take out but the prior 2 times we'd eaten in; but had yet to review (sorry y'all). Amazing almond chicken (with almond sauce and almond slices with the chicken) and sweet/sour chicken with steamed rice. Came with the sauces in separate containers so the chicken wasn't soaked or soggy. Amazing job guys and thank you! If you're wanting Chinese food in East Bremerton, this is a great place to try. Definitely worth it for the cuisine and atmosphere if you're eating in!!!!

Food is always amazing. I don't remember a time where it hasn't been at this restaurant. The service may take a bit sometimes, but the servers are so awesome and always so sweet and accommodating. Right when you walk in you are well taken care of! My children absolutely love this place too. It's our number one place to go when we are in town. I definitely recommend trying the Crab Rangoon and the butter garlic chicken wings! Egg flour soup is always amazing and I always order the special 2! You can't go wrong with their menu.

I live in the East Sound, but every time I go to the Peninsula, I eat here. Great service and food and the portions are huge! Highly recommend the Golden Star!

Went to lunch. Thought the waitress was A+ food was excellent. I bought a Togo lunch for my husband and even warmed for dinner said was flavorful. Been going since the 70's always go back.

We LOVE Golden Star. Our order is always fresh and hot. Our favorite is the sweet and sour chicken. Their egg rolls are awesome. Their chicken wings are also awesome. It's all wonderful. We have yet to "dine in" but it's beautifully decorated inside. Everyone there is so very nice.

Well, SHOOT! Golden Star has not weathered the pandemic well. I ordered takeout & was told 15 minutes. I arrived 17 minutes later and had to wait another 20 minutes before the cashier "found" my order stashed in a cubbyhole by the register. I've picked up takeout there before, and the wait after getting there isn't new. I don't know why they quote a time, when it seems they don't start an order until you arrive anyway. I wasn't too surprised and would just cope if the food were good, but... Unfortunately, it also wasn't at ALL worth the wait -- it was the worst egg foo young I've ever had. It was DOUGHY, as if they had added a bunch of flour, with hardly any vegetables. Bizarre. (And it wasn't just a matter of having been sitting -- I've gotten egg foo young lots of places that I took home and reheated the next day with no problem. This was a different situation altogether.)

It was OK but the flavoring was not what I'm used to. The egg foo yong was the best I've ever had nothing was bad it's just different.

It was good the taste was modified for the American taste so it didn't taste like another authentic Chinese restaurant, their service was excellent the server was polite and the food was fast too, the only thing I was weird about was the room they don't have any windows, it surrounded by a wall feel like hard to breathe, I will buy it again but maybe for take out.

Portions are so small. When you're there for lunch, order the dinner size. I had the oyster sauce beef. It was really good, but loaded with veggies and maybe 5 pieces of meat. Tbh, don't waste your time. I got burger king after this.

Best chow mien! The rest is not my favorite. I've had many things from the menu, but come back for just the chicken chow mien canton style. Yummmmmmy!

100% crap. But if you want to have a drink in a loud bar full of drunk old people, have a drink just don't order food.

Great Food, Great Service! Went there tonight for dinner with my wife. It was a little late but the service was still Great!

My Boyfriend and I kept seeing great reviews, so we wanted to give it a try. The food was not good. Pork fried rice was old and mushy. Egg foo young tasted like it was frozen or reheated, even had a cold spot in it. Barley edible, we didn't finish or take out left overs. People rave about this place. Makes me think that most people just don't know what good food is. In the land of mediocre Kitsap this place is definitely on the list.

Lunch menu is awesome! Recommend their lunch combos. Worth the price and customer service is outstanding.

The food was pretty good, service wasn't to bad considering how busy it was. they messed up one of my sides but fixed it right away and let me keep the old one. The guy at the front was super nice and even remembered my name.

Always busy because the food is good! Never dined in the restaurant--always ordered pick up. Fav Chinese food in Bremerton, but wish the wait to pick up orders wasn't so long. (It's usually weekends/Friday nights though so I get it)

Place was not what I expected!!! I ordered the beef & broccoli expected the usual good stuff that I always ordered.. but instead I got some unseasoned food that had no flavor at all!!!! The broccoli was so hard. The waiter was extremely rude about me sending it back because I told her it was nasty and had no flavor and that they could keep the food. The waiter said next time don't order it. She was rude and very unprofessional!! I would never come back here. The only thing good here was the tea and the fortune cookie!.. it looks like someone threw a bunch of leftovers together on a plate. This place is extremely dirty! Dust all over the lights above the tables. Dust all over the ceiling fan . Is not even a small amount. It's a lot!!! The fortune cookie didn't even have a fortune in it !!

This is the very best Chinese restaurant in Kitsap County. We have been going here for 15+ years. Great food and always friendly service.

A fabulous dinner hosted by the attentive and friendly Lili. Moo shu pork was outstanding, as was dinner #5. Food was hot and perfectly cooked and seasoned. Well worth the drive from Olympia!
