Google
Best lo mein I've had in NH so far. Chicken was too dry in all of our entrees, but the flavor is so spot on. Beef was fantastic. Overall taste was deep with scallion and ginger 👍 thank you jiejie! Curious note: one of the packed sauces looked and tasted like applesauce. New to me for Chinese takeout, but it strangely works.

Google
Stopped in for a late lunch a few months ago and loved it! Everything was tasty, not greasy, and service was extremely kind!

Google
There isn't much to say. The service was okay. Average for take out. We volunteer get through on the phone so we had to go there and order and wait for the take out. They didn't seemed concerned that the phone wasn't working. More importantly the food was not very good. It was fatty. Didn't have a great taste either. The chicken fingers were gristly too. Just not worth it.

Google
Great place to eat or order out at. Been eating here for 8 years. Love the food and service as you become a regular the staff gets to know you and are always welcoming. Food depends on what you eat, my wife would say they have the best scallion pancakes in NH. I eat their chicken lo mein and their sesame chicken. The sesame chicken is great good sweetness and perfect crunch. The lo mein is something left to be desired. I didn’t realize that they did shu mi and it was great, very traditional better than north garden.

Google
I Googled best crab Rangoon in Manchester and this business came up. Unfortunately it's actually the worst I've ever had. Crab rangoon should have a good balance of cream cheese, onions, chive, and crab. I made the mistake of ordering a double order so now I'm left with food I really don't want to eat because it's literally just cream cheese in a shell. I'm sure this restaurant is great but they're not doing this dish well.

Google
This is the very local place we love. The servers are wonderful. My grandkids love going here. The food is good! The adult drinks are good! We also order take out from here. The only reason for the lower stars is the atmosphere. Could use a little help . The outside area could use something. Very casual place.

Google
I think any Chinese food in NH is grand slam. The orange chicken here was great, and I think the wonton soup was the best wonton soup I'd ever had. I learned I was born in the year of the sheep from the paper place mat. I'd eat here again. Great food, great prices, and great ladies.

Google
Our family loves Golden Tao and they have been our regular spot for Chinese food for a while now. Janet and her crew are always friendly and will even send us texts when they are closed for holidays.

Yelp
Awesome service, lady was awesome with the kiddo, and food was great. My kid had a hard time picking something they like and they made a dish up for him

Yelp
Wonderful family owned restaurant with authentic Chinese dishes. My partner orders the steamed tofu with mixed vegetables, which she thoroughly enjoys. Tofu is silky and very flavorful. Dello sauce too. I had the Moo Shu pork which is my "go to dish". Plenty of parking and there is abundant seating. Who knows, you might enjoy this restaurant too.

Yelp
When we're in the area we always stop here. Super nice, very clean, deliciously fresh food and great prices. Yesterday I had vegetable chow mein, scallion pancakes and perfectly crispy chicken fingers. Thank you again for a wonderful meal

Yelp
Had a very good lunch, curry chicken combo with fried rice. Just a lot of curry flavor, little heat. Came with beef teriyaki a bonus! The shrimp with lobster sauce in separate container, over fried rice, crab Rangoon so good. The place is clean, served on time ( to-go was ready) easy to deal with at checkout. We will be back.

Yelp
Ordered to go Pu pu for 2 with PF rice (rice cost extra) also it does NOT come with crab Rangoon The food was hot Food was fresh The meats were dry There wasn't much flavor The cost was 46$ Probably won't be back here I can get pu pu for 2 with rice and crab Rangoon at another location which is good except they weren't open today

Yelp
I chose this place because of the positive Yelp reviews. What a disappointment! I ordered pork fried rice which I had a craving for since I had had it elsewhere some time ago. It was awful, no flavor or taste and the pork was so tough I gave it to my dog. Never again!

Yelp
Stopped by for a late lunch. Located off some side streets in Manchester within a small plaza. The hospitality was amazing! Food served fresh with no long wait time. We dined in. The beef teriyaki was my favorite. The meat is tender and marinated to perfection. Two pieces with my lunch combo. I had the chicken and green beans. Very flavorful and good size portion. Came with pork fried rice. My hubby had the sweet and sour chicken. Chicken tenders tossed with the sweet/sour sauce featuring chunks of pineapple and cherry. He loved his dish. We shared the crab rangoons. Filling was nice and creamy. I would definitely return when I'm back in this area.

Yelp
My favorite Chinese food place we come here all the time they are awesome and very welcoming and friendly. I bring my friends here but more importantly I bring my family here and we all love it here. Me and my fiance love the scorpion bowl and he love the seasame chicken and I love the pepper steak or tie bit 3 but I am going to continue trying many more new things as everything is amazing! Thank you Golden Tao for your exemplary service and food
google avatar

Yelp
Went with a friend this morning and ordered a whole lot of food, and everything was very good, especially the scallion pancake, which I'm usually indifferent to. The waitress was friendly and attentive, helping my friend's daughters and refilling waters without being too much. The heat was out, but they pulled up a space heater and I'm pleased enough with the food that I'm going to keep the 5th star. It was pretty empty for Saturday lunch - hopefully they do a lot of takeout, or it gets busier for dinner.

Madeline M.

Yelp
I just spent 60 dollars here and it was terrible. The egg rolls tasted like soap and the rice and lo mein were super dry. Won't go back
google avatar

Alexander C.

Yelp
I live a few street down and this is my go to place for great Chinese food. We have so many hibachi style restaurants around but if you want traditional Chinese food then definitely come here!!
google avatar

Nick M.

Yelp
Great Chinese food always hot when I pick it up very friendly I love sweet-and-sour chicken.
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
The sweet and sour chicken was not good, the beef and broccoli was decent, the rice was eehhh. The lady working was super defensive and rude when I told her I didn't like it.
google avatar

James A.

Yelp
Fresh made food. Beat Chinese around. Good service, tasty food. Try the Scallion Pancakes, so good.
google avatar

Maria P.

Yelp
Nice people, but horrible food. The chicken was terribly dry, the crab rangoon's had no flavor and best of all my container wasn't closed all the way, so it spilled all over me when I took it out of the bag! Definitely disappointed.

Yelp
*sigh* I realize some of you that follow my reviews are gonna say I'm being a "negative Ned" these days. But, guys....this one....we really had high hopes for this one. To start off with the positive, the egg drop soup was the MVP tonight. Aside from having a mysterious sweet aftertaste to it, for the most part, it was pretty amazing! Like, the best we've had since arriving to NH. A solid 8 out of 10. But when we get to the main course of the evening, everything starts to plummet rapidly. So, the so-called "salted spicy jumbo shrimp" was okay. The problem I have with this dish is that it's...neither salted nor spicy. It just tastes like regular fried shrimp. Come to think of it, the fantail shrimp at Weathervane tastes better (golly, I could sure go for some of those now). I actually had to break out the cocktail sauce to aptly enjoy them. 6 out of 10. Also, they give you a LOT of shrimp. Like, enough to feed two people. Wish I'd known that before spending 70 bucks on this shit. That's another thing. Since we had them deliver it as well, the food cost WAY more than it rightfully should have. But considering they price the jumbo shrimp at $20....*long sigh*.....I just...I....guys, this place sucks balls. Let's talk about the fried rice for a minute. As my wife and son both sampled this, I am taking this from their perspective. Which I trust. The fried rice is so bland, it tastes like white rice. Which means they had to have been using that low sodium soy sauce crap that we can't stand. Like, I get that certain people probably need this. But why make low sodium soy the default? I would think most people would require a bit more flavor in their food. But hey--what do I know? Even the egg rolls were devoid of any flavor or seasoning. WTF is happening here?! Look, good Chinese food is hard to come by in most states. I guess it also doesn't help that Chinese food in America is almost never actual Chinese food. But you get out there and find whatever makes your palate happy. As for this place, they may win the award for serving New England's blandest Chinese take-away of all time. Golden Tao is worthy of 2 fried shrimp labeled by false advertising out of 5.

Yelp
High hopes for this restaurant especially after Jennifer was so nice taking my order. Place looked clean when arrived. Ordered: Chicken fried rice, Sticky, only warm and no taste, Chicken was fine but cool. Egg rolls, Must have been cooked twice, still barely warm, dark brown and insides shriveled. Beef and Broccoli, Large portion, grisly meat, broccoli nice absolutely no taste. Crab rangoon, nicely cooked but inside was cold, can't figure that one out..LOL. Extra duck sauce, not very good. Over $60.00 spent. I have to start giving reviews again cause if others did they would save their money or try another place. If we all do this all these places will start doing the right thing and get better. Can someone please suggest a good chinese place in Manchester? Last time I had great chinese was at Kowloons in Saugus, Ma. Merry Christmas everyone.

Nathan O.

Yelp
This is our go to Chinese food restaurant in Manchester. We usually order the combination plates with a side of egg drop soup. The normal go to for me is general gaus with chicken wings. The chicken wings are well seasoned and juicy. The general gaus is crisp yet tender. The owners are very nice and the service is friendly.

Yelp
I have been going here for years now. The food is always great, and the staff is very friendly. The place a gem in the West Side of Manchester

Christine C.

Yelp
The best pork fried rice I've had. It's never greasy but very flavorful. The appetizers are always top notch. My mom used the word succulent for the fried shrimp even though she ate them the next day. Teriyaki has a deep flavor & is cooked just right. The staff is very friendly every time I've been there. This place is a hidden gem.
google avatar

Betsy G.

Yelp
Food is fresh, flavorful it's definitely a place to get your food craving fix. Even the crab Rangoons we fresh and yummy.

Katie B.

Yelp
The best Chinese food in New Hampshire! Especially love the Orange Beef - the steak is incredibly tender and the sweet and spicy sauce is delectable! A must visit!
google avatar

Steve K.

Yelp
I was drawn here for lunch by the Yelp score but it didn't meet my expectations, though the staff was very nice and attentive. I tried the pan fried dumplings, the boneless spare ribs and white steamed rice. The ribs were very good! Moist, chewy, tender and flavorful like a good char siu. The dumplings were not good, too doughy and lacking flavor. Oh, the black tea was not very flavorful either. I wish them luck - I love patronizing small businesses so I may be back for that reason...and the boneless ribs!

Yelp
I still love Golden Tao years later. They have the best Chinese food in the area in my opinion. If you haven't ever tried them, I'd encourage you do. Our local restaurants need us now more than ever before. This unassuming restaurant is tucked away in a small strip mall on the West side. I love their combo plate options (my favorite is the create your own CS3 I get mine with pork fried rice, crab rangoon, beef teriyaki, and boneless spare rib), the beef and vegetable moo shu, wonton soup, the homemade pork dumpling soup, peking ravioli, scallion pancakes, spring rolls, and Szechuan spicy beef are what we order the most. In addition to their delicious food, they are owned by the sweetest family. They get to know their customers. When they ask how you are and about you, they really want to know. Other restaurants could learn a lot from them. If you want consistently great food and service, Golden Tao is for you.

Yelp
Stopped over for a lunch after visiting the SEE museum with the family. We were the only customers there. Ma favorite dish was the pork chow ho fun. It was really tasty and flavorful. I've had chow ho fun in many Chinese restaurants and most were too greasy with no flavor. We also ordered chicken with broccoli (was ok but the sauce was definitely better than what I normally had), vegetarian delight and crispy tofu. I would recommend this place.

Ana L.

Yelp
The food was good. The price was a little expensive than another Chinese restaurant, but it was fine. The problem is that employees don't care about smoking cigarettes inside.

Yelp
Love love LOVE this restaurant! We originally discovered it a while back when we were on the hunt for some salt and pepper pork chops similar to some we love from Chinatown in Boston, and this place is the only place we have found in the area to carry the dish! We absolutely love the salt and spicy pork chops here, as well as the wonton and dumpling soups! The fried rice is delicious as well. The portions are very generous and the staff is always so kind and courteous! They also have a dim sum option available on the weekends, as well as a variety of alcoholic drinks. Highly recommend this location, they offer dine in and takeout.

Yelp
Manchester top rated Chinese food spot. It's great....food is clean and fast. On the higher end for fast Chinese-American cuisine. However their popularity has led to higher prices, smaller portions, and big holiday crowds (not their fault). I still eat here from time to time, but new portions and pricing keep it out of my top stop.
google avatar

Yelp
My family's and I came here after church on Sunday Wow the food was amazing!! Very hot very very good I would highly recommend this establishment The waitress was so kind and very professional. Great service..

Yelp
This is a must go for chinese food in Manchester. Everything I have tried there is delicious and at an affordable price. The combo specials everyday always cost less than 9$ but can give you two full meals out of. They dont use cheap ingredients to make their food and the curry chicken, General Gau's Chicken (CS17) and Szechaun chicken are my favorites (CS6). Must go if you like chinese food and you are in Manchester!

Yelp
This place has gone downhill in the last year or so. I used to rave about how good everything was. Today I decided to give it one more try. I ordered the shrimp lo mein and shrimp fried rice. It was good and the crab Rangoon were decent but the egg rolls were mushy and tasteless. The general gao's chicken was overcooked and dry, More batter than chicken. It will be a long time before I give them another try.

Scott L.

Yelp
Sorry we tried but everything we tried was flavorless! 2 chicken dishs , rice , ribs drink was good and ragoons good , but thats it " Sorry" nice people though! $120.00 down the drain, literally.

Yelp
Recently moved to Manchester and saw how well this place was rated so I decided to give them a shot. I will commend the woman who answered the phone, she was very kind and seemed very grateful for my order during these difficult times. My food was ready when I got there, and it was a quick and easy in and out. Unfortunately the food did not live up to expectations. It was maybe a fifteen, twenty minute drive home. The general tso's chicken was kind of tough and the batter was heavy, the chicken teriyaki was rubbery and bland, the fried shrimp and chicken wings were good, the boneless spareribs flavorless and tough, and the pork fried rice was standard takeout fare. I love Chinese food, perhaps when things are closer to normal and dine in is an option I'll give that a shot, but I don't think I'll do takeout again.

Skye S.

Yelp
I've been craving their dim sum and all their other food. But it looks like they are closed for a week and will be returned next week. Can't wait to eat the good food again

Yelp
Came here last night with very low expectations. Got the General Gao's plus some dumplings, w/ crab rangoon and chicken chow mein, eh... ...not overly impressed. Asked for tea and was really surprised about what happened next: this place is the first ever Chinese restaurant that I ask for tea which did not provide me with a pitcher of warm tea, but rather a single serving baggy in a mug of new england tea. No sugar, no sweetener, and not even a mention of whether I would have liked it perhaps? Really strange all around experience from past Chinese restaurants I have visited and really half assed it seemed. Now, generally, I take my tea/coffee plain so no big deal but this was already a red flag, or lack of trying? Surprisingly, the food itself was tasty so it countered the above negative. The sauces were yummy, and the dumplings were really good. Service was OK minus the above tea mention? Portions however, were regrettably small, despite the tasty mention above (rice was served in the smallest cup) and perhaps one of the smallest servings I have also ever seen in a Chinese restaurant, given that generally Chinese places serve an abundance of food. Now, my focus is always on quality vs. quantity, but when I am noticing how small the servings are, I feel we have a problem lol. Manchester seems to be lacking in its culinary offerings, which is why this place may have been rated so highly? I would say this place is passable for take out, but nothing screams at me to return here in a hurry, and I would be willing to try other places before setting foot here again.

Yelp
Went with my girlfriend and her daughter because I'd heard about how good this place was. I was SEVERELY disappointed. I love good Chinese food and was looking forward to eating here. We ordered the PuPu platter and it was awful. Overcooked, undercooked, overseasoned, underseasoned...it was a mess. The fried chicken nearly broke a tooth on me. The rangoons were soft and greasy to the point of being inedible. Very disappointed. 1 Star.

Yelp
This wonderful restaurant is the classic case of a hidden gem. Don't be fooled by the modest appearance and location in a small strip mall. The food is freshly-made and delicious. The staff is very friendly and nice. This is one of the most delightfully surprising restaurants I have visited in quite a while. I enjoyed it a lot and I will be a regular anytime I'm in Manchester!

Ed L.

Yelp
Crispy duck? What a joke! Don't even try to pin it on me waiting to eat it. I buy crispy duck from the market all the time and it stays crispy long after packing. This is moist like it Was steamed and salty beyond all comprehension. I ask whether it was a whole or a half and I get a boisterous chuckle and sarcasm. This place was the top rated Chinese place in New Hampshire??? Here's a pic of what I got, and then a pic of what I THOUGHT i was getting. If I had gotten that I'd stomach the sass from earlier. Other food was mediocre and overpriced.

Yelp
Really large space in dingy unkempt plaza Thankfully inside does not match the ugly plaza Very good service Went there for dim sum and was very sad to see it was only offered on the weekends... But I did have the hot and sour soup and it was very very good Had another pork and shrimp dumpling appetizer and found it to be not ground pork but overly tough pieces of pork...the ginger sauce that came with it was very good.

Stephen H.

Yelp
Visiting from Colorado and arrived just before closing. Sorry I couldn't eat in, but staff was super accommodating in taking late order. Everything was wonderful -- steamed dumplings, twice cooked pork, and fried rice. Will be back!

Justin S.

Yelp
Went on yelp last night for the number one place for Chinese in Manchester. Needless to say Manchester must not have very good Chinese restaurants. The restaurant table was sticky. Maybe cleaner from Covid BS. Paper menu had greasy finger prints from last customer's. Ordered drinks the server forgot my wife's. The food comes 2-3 mins after ordering. Fresh out of the microwave. Chicken was stale and hard. Menu had stamps on it stating prices were not correct. Scanned the QR on the wall for actual prices. We were over charged by at least $10.

Bruce B.

Yelp
I read the reviews and thought I would give them a try. My mistake! Hunan chicken very very bland. The pieces of chicken where tough and larger than my thumb. I also ordered chicken lomain spicy. Yet once again very bland watery and almost no chicken. I think that they forgot to cut up the chicken and split it up between both dishes.

Yelp
Unfortunately it appears much has changed. **The food was terrible. The beef teriyaki had no taste. The fried rice over cooked. The sweet and sour chicken bland.** I cannot in good conscience leave it at 5 stars when the service was atrocious and the food just not good. The menu online is confusing and indicated that to the person who took my order but she seemed not to care and was rude, correcting me as I placed my order. Then I came to pick up the order. I then received a lecture on having been 10-15 minutes later than the time I said I would pick it up although they are not closed nor were they in the process of closing. I really did not appreciate the rudeness and normally I would not say anything or change my review but I do not feel anyone should be subjected to such unprofessionalism and poor quality food and have updated my review accordingly. I indicated as well that I had left them a great review in the past. She did not care. I called the next morning to speak with them directly on this and another woman who answered the phone (she indicated it was her cousin who I was speaking with last night). She was just as rude as her cousin. I told her in a very calm tone that I did not care for the service last night and what happened and the woman did not say 'I'm sorry' or in any way showed that she cared. This other woman told me that I should be at the restaurant on the dot to pick up the food and that it is my problem. Such poor service and poor attitude. Perhaps it is a new family that owns this place because it was never like this before. It's sad really. Professionalism matters and courtesy matters. If an

Yelp
Top three of all-time! I get fried rice at every Asian place I visit and I am glad to say that Golden Tao is in my top three. The place: It's pretty easy to find in a small strip mall off the beaten path. The store front and area give the impression that this will be a hole-in-the-wall take-out place but it was actually a surprisingly large, clean, comfortable restaurant with an impressive dining area. I was pleased to see a decent amount of customers in the dining area and several employees active. This would be a good place to have a dine-in meal to enjoy a meal and a conversation. The food: I ordered take-out fried rice. They have several fried rice options plus the protein options. I chose the standard fried rice with roasted pork. The food was ready in five minutes packed tightly in a carton and a paper bag. The rice was cooked perfectly being slightly chewy but not sticky or hard. The rice was darker than most fried rice - I assume they use a sauce in the recipe because it had very good savory flavor. They included a little cup of red chili oil which was great. The pork was in small chunks and slightly sweet. I think I would have prefered beef or chicken because the sweet pork was a bit out of place in the savory rice. I asked for very spicy and it was decently spicy but nothing extreme. There were only a few bits of onions and other veggies in the rice so consider asking for extra veggies if you like it loaded up. The price was very reasonable and a good value. Excellent place. Look no further if you want great Asian food in this area.
google avatar

Patrick R.

Yelp
The fried rice and egg roll were both fresh and delicious. I also had sweet and sour chicken which featured large pieces of chicken and only minimal fried dough which is just how I like it!

Yelp
We got a to go order from the friendly helpful voice on the phone to the pickup the service was 5 stars the food was hot fresh and ready when we arrived and so delicious we put it on are must eat list

Yelp
essential worker, mandatory overtime, up to 11 hour work days, I need someone else to do our cooking. A restaurant convenient for my commute, with quality food at a fair price, and a friendly face when I walk through their door. Golden Tao has exceeded our expectations with every visit. The FOOD: consistently so good! Quality & Quanity can't be beat. The Crab Rangoon is perfection with its crispy points and soft, slightly sweet pillow of cream cheese mixture. I have never been a fan of chicken fingers but Golden Tao converted me. Golden fried batter wrapped around tender chicken. 3 fill me up & we always have enough left to enjoy for another meal. Warmed in the toaster oven, they are just as yummy leftover as they were when fresh. Lo Mein, Wonton, beef dishes, all so good! The SERVICE: Walking through their door you will be promptly & warmly greeted. Golden Tao is strictly takeout during Covid, which we prefer anyhow. Great way to end a day, snuggled in with family, chinese, & netflix. Final comment: we live by the mall of nh. The food from Golden Tao is always still hot enough to enjoy w/o reheating
