"Cavernous Chinese restaurant-slash-nightclub Golden Temple is hosting a glitzy party for New Year’s Eve starting at 9:30 p.m. There will be party favors, a live DJ, and a champagne toast at midnight. Tickets start at $30 apiece." - Erika Adams

"If there’s one reliable genre of restaurants in which to find scorpion bowls, it’s old-school Chinese restaurants. The decades-old Golden Temple is no exception. The Brookline restaurant — which turns into a club on weekend nights — serves up a long list of boozy, fruity cocktails, including scorpion bowls (which also come in an individual size)." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

"The Golden Temple is, sneakily, one of the best dance clubs in Greater Boston. When dinner service ends, the arched and faux-portholed auxiliary dining room to the left of the restaurant’s main dining room transforms into an ochre-washed mid-century dreamscape where hip hop and dance classics thump while twenty- and thirty-somethings who know where to go dance and drink the night away. This is the last stop, and you’re probably already feeling yourself by now, so drink whatever the hell you’d like. After you’re done, call a cab because you’re a responsible adult. This is the worst meal I have ever received in my life from an establishment. Not only is the food disgusting the price is outrageous. Take it from me do not order here. The chicken was just in a puddle of oranges for some reason. The noodles look like they just boiled them and put them on the plate. I couldn’t even finish the meal and honestly was super disappointed especially from a place that looked like it should be good. If I could give less stars I would. This place is disgusting.

Golden Temple has beautiful architecture and is extremely clean adding to the upscale but casual atmosphere. The seating is nicely spaced to enjoy your meal without being crowded. I found that they do a great job with the popular New England Chinese appetizers. They have old school Egg Rolls that are filled with a perfect mixture. You can eat them without needing any duck sauce. The famous Golden Temple Ribs are worth the extra money. Nice char and flavor. Crisp on the outside tender on the inside easily coming off the bone. I would consider these very high up on my list for best in the state. The Chicken Wings had a nice dark color that gets you excited to take a bite. They were crispy and juicy with a very nice flavor. The Beef Teriyaki was marinated nicely and very flavorful. The Hot and Sour Soup was good, but a little heavy handed on the vinegar. The Shrimp were cooked perfectly in the Lobster Sauce. The sauce was okay. The Orange Beef lacked any crispiness, was hard to cut and the sauce had more of a tomato flavor. Overall the food was really good with the appetizers being the star of the show. They alone make it worth checking out. I'll try some different entrées next time. My friends tell me the Lobster Sauce is great. I will probably give it a second try and see if I caught an off night.

I don't want to be too harsh here......but.....it's a tradition in my family to cook at home on Christmas Eve but to go out to a non-Christian restaurant on Christmas Day to eat....preferably Chinese food. I had a reservation for 7pm but they were over-sat and we didn't actually get a table until 7:30pm. While we were standing and waiting they just kept allowing more and more people to walk in with or without a reservation and the ENTIRE time they told every single guest including myself that they were backed up 15min. By the time we got our table there was a giant crowd in the waiting area. As a chef myself in a large VIP restaurant in Fenway I knew the hostess and waiters were simply mismanaging the walk-in system by allowing impatient people to crowd the bar. We heard them pick up the phone and cancel several people's previously placed to-go orders which I thought was absolutely shocking to do last minute on a holiday like that. Our total time from walking in the door to leaving was 2 hrs and 20min. The food......was unfortunately not worth the wait. I'm convinced that we were served durum wheat linguine instead of egg noodles in our lo mein dishes and we actually had to send back a dish that was supposed to be szechuan beef but only had 3 strips of meat in what was about 1lb of soggy eggplant. They also had already run out of duck before we were ever sat apparently. This led me to believe we definitely didn't get real lo mein noodles and they were running out of all the food forcing them to go to a local open grocery for substitutes. I would not come back even if it wasn't a busy holiday but as for all the shortcomings and issues on top of a ridiculous price-set considering the lack of quality I will suggest to them what I always suggest in my professional career..........if you dont want to be open or cant handle being open on a holiday, then don't, as last nights experience convinced me the place just isn't worth a visit by anyone no matter what.

DEAD MOUSE UNDER MY TABLE! I’ve been here numerous times over the years but stopped coming due to the pandemic. I came back to celebrate with my family after a long while and the food was great but service was terrible. The waiters were rude and kept touching the top of our cups. Table we were placed was FILTHY! They served us flat sodas. Then to top it off a dead mouse was under our table and apparently snuggled under one of my guests purses that accidentally full under the table. How disgusting. The staff didn’t even come by to apologize . We had already paid for our food so the least they could do is apologize. One of the managers snatched my phone out of my hand when I tried to show him the picture of the mouse which they quickly cleaned up to cover their tracks. He tried to delete the picture off my phone multiple people had to demand for him to return my phone. Never coming or supporting this business ever again

I made a reservation and went on valentines day. Not many people were there. We were seated right away and safely away from other, but the wait to order was way too long. We waited about 20 min. Workers were walking by and not asking if we were ready to order or order a drink. When we did get to order the drinks and food came out quickly. The food was fresh and hot which was a plus, but the quantity for the price was not good. All in all the service could have been better, the food was great, but a little on the pricey side for the amount of food given.

Generously filled crab meat in crab Rangoon. I go to this place when i want to eat bland & healthy chinese food, ambiance is rich. Low on taste and seasoning. But a fine dine experience. Good for once in a while but not a tasty place. Service was good.

Google
The sesame beef and vermicelli dishes were spectacular. The chicken with cashew was bland. The hot and sour soup was oddly sweet and the egg drop soup was too salty.

Yelp
I've moved away from Brookline, and hadn't had a chance to eat inside the restaurant since before Covid. I was there for a small celebration last Saturday evening. It was excellent. The menu has changed a bit, but everything was well prepared and delicious...appetizers and main dishes. The service was good, and the restaurant acoustics allowed good conversation. After Chinese New Year the restaurant provided a small gift to each guest which was really nice. I enjoyed my dinner and hope to be able to visit again before too long.

Yelp
My take out tasted ok, but I got food poisoning from this place. Ordered the beef and broccoli. Beware and eat at your own risk. Suffered from an infected stomach diagnosed by a doctor that lasted about a week. Staff was friendly though.

Noshii R.

Yelp
Bad food, small portions, and late. General Ghaos's chicken was soggy and mushy. Scallion pancakes were limp/soggy and cold. Not sure how this place stays in business--quality and portions have deteriorated.

Megan V.

Yelp
Probably the worst "Chinese food" I have had. Ordered take out from here and couldn't believe what was delivered. The "lo mein" consisted of linguine noodles and no sauce. The chicken and broccoli had no sauce as well. So bland no flavor. Was so dissatisfied with this place.

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
Ordered and PAID A DAY IN ADVANCE for food on Christmas. Waited for two hours the day/time my food was supposed to be ready. Never got my food. Told I would not be getting my food. Promised a refund. Never got a refund. Repeatedly promised a refund, yet still never got one. This was the last straw for a restaurant that has been teetering on the brink of collapse for a long time. After a lifetime of memories there, We will not be back, that's for sure.

Yelp
Golden Temple is not so golden anymore...Staff is rude and unaccommodating. Would not recommend spending your money at this establishment.

A C.

Yelp
We went to Golden Temple last night, it was not all that busy and we decided to eat at the Bar. The Service from a female bartender and a first male bartender was unacceptable........from not even cleaning up the the previous customer's plates , etc., both had flippy answers and an uncaring chip on their shoulders. They really thought they were doing us a favor and it was really not that busy, just awful! The Drinks were awful.....I can make a better Mai Tai and that is not saying much.....The drinks were put in small OTR Glasses and loaded with Coke. The food was just ok (looked like someone took some of the chicken fingers off the plate before they were brought over).....Seriously! The Fried Rice was burnt (and smelled burnt) and we should have sent it back! After having gone here for years, I am sad to say that we are not going back......there are better choices out there!

Yelp
I have eaten at this restaurant in the past but never will do so again. They have fully lost a customer permanently through the use of coercive and illegal behaviors related to the metered street parking in front of this restaurant. I'm filing a report with the Brookline Police Department and with the City of Brookline and will also attempt to get their pick up signage removed as a result of their illegal behavior. This afternoon (Sunday afternoon), when I parked at a street meter (signed "Reserved For Pick-Up Drop-off Only 5pm-1am) in front of this restaurant at 2:30 pm, a woman chased me down the sidewalk and told me I couldn't park in that spot unless I was eating in their restaurant. I told her that was not true and not legal (as we were not within the timeframe for pickup/drop off) and she threatened to have my car towed if I did not move. Because I was driving my family's car, I moved to avoid further issue, but I am outraged and want all potential customers to know that this is not an establishment to give your business to. The food is so-so, but the operators are not ethical.

Yelp
I have never in my life been to a place where people were so rude. We came from a show in Boston and because we didn't have a reservation she made us sit and wait. The hostess made snarky comments and when I asked how long because we have a 20 month old, she responded i have tables but I'm not pulling anyone to clean them. So with that I told her, we came on a recommendation but will never return. I have never been treated so poorly. Needles to say, we left and went elsewhere and had a wonderful dinner.

Denise R.

Yelp
Poor customer service! I pickedd up a take out order! They still have the sign out for curbside pickup which they don't do! The man who takes the money was rude and obnoxious! My card wasn't inserted all the way because he was holding the machine and was just trying to make a small issue into nothing!

Eli M.

Yelp
Ordered hours in advance for a 5:45 pickup. After waiting for a slow, disinterested manager to get to me in a long, long line, the told me that due to a "total collapse of the kitchen," my food wouldn't be ready until 7:15. 7:15 was also the pickup time they game to the orders placed for 5pm, which had previously been told (falsely) food would be ready at 6. They offered no compensation whatsoever for this inconvenience.

Gary G.

Yelp
This is the worst Chinese restaurant I have ever eaten at. I have been there twice and thought that the first time I went may have been an off night since in the past the restaurant had a good reputation. Well I went again last night and we felt unwelcome, the service was horrendous, the food was overly salty and sugary and the atmosphere was not conducive to having a nice dinner. We waited over a half hour to get our reserved table and our order arrived an hour after we gave it to the waiter. We sent back two of our three orders and they did take it off our bill but it did not make up for wasting our time. We had to have snacks for dinner when we got home. Giving this restaurant 1star would be generous. This was truly a 0 star experience!

Debby S.

Yelp
Had our Holiday party here. The food is always good but feel that our privacy was not respected by management. We were supposed to have the "E" room until 11, but the doors opened to the general public at 9:45. Complete strangers invaded our party, even going so far as to fill to-go containers with food we paid for. This is unacceptable and wrong in so many ways. This is the last time they'll get our business! Hi SarahLynn, I'm unsure how to contact you directly, can you please let me know your preferred method of communication. Deb

Yelp
Upon the recommendation of client and long time friend I ordered form Golden Temple last weekend. I warned her being from NYC I'm used to some of the best Chinese Food in the USA. She said trust me their crab rangoons are delicious blah blah My review: I spit these miniature, tasteless & seemingly baked cottage cheese balls back out into the box when the second one hit my tongue. worst I've ever had and unrecognizable. Not the Chinese crab rangoons this Food loving Brotha from NYC has ever encountered. The chef/house special fried rice tasted like the chef must have lost his taste & smell from COVID, threw uncle Ben's, a few carrots and peas into a pot of unsalted water with an egg white and called it a day. The General Gaos chicken tasted like it had been dishonorably discharged from the emperor's army circa the Chang Dynasty. No flavor and chewy like sugarless gum. Maybe this restaurant is catering to wrong demographic in the brookline community willing to pay double for inauthentic Chinese cuisine but for me...Hell To The Nah

Emily L.

Yelp
We ordered takeout and the food was some of the worst Chinese-American food I've ever had. What we ordered: - specialty ribs - nothing special about it... its such a rip off to charge $25 for a regular rib app - golden puff curry - this was actually ok - beef chow foon - way too salty & not enough carmelization from the wok - salt and pepper calamari- NO flavor.. not really salt and pepper. The batter is so terrible we actually threw out the whole dish. - general tso chicken - the chicken pieces were so small and hard to eat because it was overcooked and unchewable. The broccoli in the sauce also tasted sour. - spicy green beans - taste was ok but not spicy at all. Overall, I was really disappointed. For a restaurant that has been in the neighborhood for so long, I expected better. It is also extremely overpriced for small portions and terrible quality.

Sharon C.

Yelp
I just came here to say that the food is ALWAYS excellent. Yesterday I only wanted shrimp fried rice so that's all I ordered. It was THE BEST shrimp fried rice I've had in years...only thing I noticed was "missing" was a little egg so next time I'll have them add egg but it was absolutely DELICIOUS !!!

Jovana J.

Yelp
Food was very good. Ingredients were nice and fresh and the drinks are amazing. I suggest the GT Mai Tai to go

Wallace M.

Yelp
All 5 items we ordered except for the white rice and vegetable spring rolls were awful. This place used to be quality. Caveat we tried the sesame ginger chicken which is from their "organic healthy" menu. We're weren't expecting the same thing but we were hoping for what could be a new and healthy imagining of a classic Chinese dish. (Sesame chicken). What we got was bland soggy tasteless soupy uninspired slop. Literally nothing about it tasted Chinese or Asian - it tasted like hospital food. Bok Choy was awful. Bland. Pea pod leaves (a Chinatown classic) were not good. They had an off flavor to them (oily and maybe garlic was not balanced with the soy?) but NOT good! King pao chicken was a MAJOR disappointment. Bland. Not chili peppers which makes the dish. And it has chopped scallions which were so gross to bite into. Also under seasoned.

Alan C.

Yelp
i've been going to Golden Temple for a long time are used to go with my parents. The food is consistently good it's a little pricier than many places in the end I always find out it's worth it. I got the lobster sauce which was garlicky and delicious the chicken fingers are the best anywhere I also got the fried shrimp and the beat lo mein very happy with my order

Brid M.

Yelp
Terrible food, slowest service and rudest waitstaff I have ever encountered. Go there at your peril and be prepared to leave both hungry and angry!!

Customer B.

Yelp
The Golden Temple is overall an average restaurant. It is a very quiet place. The inside decor is pleasant but is dark. So dark at our table that we could not read the menu by the light of the small table candle. We mentioned this to the wait staff, and they initially suggested we use our cellphones to read it. When we appeared a bit put off by this suggestion, the waitstaff (not very friendly) offered to move us but the other adjacent tables were similarly dim, so we did not move. The problem was that they did not turn on the overhead recessed lights (see photo). My wife and I ordered egg drop soup and vegetable spring rolls appetizers, mandarin orange chicken, and chicken with broccoli. Rice must be ordered extra (we became aware of this only after we inquired). Once our order was taken, the soup was served almost immediately, but we had to wait a few minutes for the spring rolls. After just a few more minutes, we were in the middle of our appetizers, our main courses were set on the table. We were not quite ready for this, but what remained of the appetizer was set aside. The food was nicely presented, the vegetables were fresh, but it tasted bland. Our main courses were tepid (not hot). The spring rolls were greasy. The pricing is slightly more than average, and we have eaten at other nice restaurants that provide tastier food for the price we paid. It is a convenient walk from our home, and after 20 years of walking by it we tried it for the first time tonight, So, we were disappointed that it was not better. This is not a restaurant that we are likely to eat at again.

Joseph L.

Yelp
This restaurant is an amazing example of a time when Chinese restaurants served only Chinese food. It has a extensive menu with many items you won't find in today's fusion Asian restaurants. The drinks were strong. The portions big. They also had 1/2 portions of some items which was a nice feature. It was very clean. All our food was fresh and very tasty. Definitely will be a regular spot.

Yelp
If there was a zero star option that's what Golden Temple deserves. Where to start? I made my reservation (almost a week in advance on 12/18/2023) for Christmas Eve online through Resy Reservations for 7:45PM for 5 people and got a confirmation email. On Saturday 12/23/2023, I received a text message reminding me about my reservation and I responded confirming it. Finally, on Sunday 12/24/2023, I received another reminder text message at 7:15PM stating "You're due at Golden Temple in 30 minutes." We arrived at 7:40PM to find people waiting everywhere, outside the front entrance, in the lobby (visibly distressed)...people with reservations had been waiting for over an hour and there were other parties that had been seated already that were coming up to the front desk hostess and letting her know that they've been sitting at their table for over an hour and nobody has come to take their order, other parties had ordered their food over an hour ago and still nothing had come out. The hostess had zero reaction, she would just stare straight ahead and told some people (including me) that "you can leave if you want to." What kind of customer service is that? Golden Temple has had a reputation for a long time as a popular restaurant in Brookline and as an even more popular dining destination for Christmas Eve. How can you treat people this way and expect to have repeat customers or maintain a good reputation in the community? If you cannot properly staff your business so that customers have an enjoyable dining experience or at least can get their food then DO NOT OPEN!!! The level of rudeness and indifference was disgusting and judging by other reviews that I have read, the food isn't good either. We ended up leaving and going to Blossom Bar in Brookline Village which had a much better level of customer service, the drinks were amazing, the food was very tasty, and the customer service was enthusiastic; our server genuinely made us feel like he wanted us to have a great time. A blessing in disguise I guess that we didn't get seated for our reservation at Golden Temple. I will never go there again and an establishment with that type of attitude to their customers should not be in business!

Zhengxin Y.

Yelp
If you are accustomed to authentic Chinese food this place is probably not for you. The kitchen most likely labeled the sugar jar as salt. Nice ambiance.

Marvin W.

Yelp
The waiter placed two empty dinner plates ion the table for me and my nephew. We ordered a mixed vegetable dish. Both empty dinner plates had no glace left, not suitable for use under a potted plant. The surface was rough to the touch, clearly not sanitary. I asked the waiter for other plates and he brought two more that were just as disgusting. He finally brought me a plate that was acceptable. The order of Chinese vegetables came out under-steamed and the broccoli almost raw. I should have sent it back but my nephew said it was ok. The simple meal of vegetables was overpriced. Any restaurant that would serve food on dishes in such poor condition, should receive a citation from the City of Brookline for unsanitary conditions.

Suzan G.

Yelp
Placed an order for Christmas Day and was thrilled when I got confirmation it was accepted since I know it's a really busy day. When I got to the restaurant, I parked in a numbered space and called the number as the sign directed. No one picked up, and it didn't look as though any orders were being brought to cars. After 5 minutes, I pop on my hazards and head inside. I walk up to the host station and I'm asked if I have a reservation. I say no, I'm here to pick up an order. Im told in a tone that sounds like I'm being scolded that pick ups are around the corner. Yikes. So around the corner I go, slightly bruised. I tell the man I'm here to pick up an order. He asks what time I placed it. I say about an hour ago. He shakes his head. He then proceeds to tell me they had so many pre orders they can't accept my order. But here's the thing- they accepted my order AND charged my card an hour ago. I challenge him and let him know that's impossible because I got a confirmation and he tells me sorry, you'll see the refund in your card in 3 TO 7 BUSINESS DAYS. Wonderful. And a Merry Christmas to you too sir. Here's a thought. If you can't take any more orders: A) shut your website down until you can accept orders again. B) call anyone who places an order you can't fill BEFORE they drive to you to pick it up. That's all.

Yelp
Ordered chow mein and got a dish of mostly vegetables smothered in gravy that was listed under the noodles section. When I asked if this was the right dish my waiter laughed and said yes it's the right dish, try it. It was fine but not at all what I thought I was ordering. Then another waiter came around to tell me chow mein is an old fashioned Chinese dish and I should have ordered lo mein. The problem is none of the noodle dishes had descriptions and we, Americans who are used to the Americanized names, are expected to know that this restaurant in particular doesn't abide by those norms.

A M.

Yelp
Can you give less than 1 star?! I have ordered takeout from here plenty of times and never had any complaints. However, went there for dinner tonight and it took 40 minutes after being seated to even get a water. Every table around us experienced the same. After nearly 2 hours we had received our apps and nothing else. The apps were freezing cold. Waiter was extremely rude and seemed angry that we asked if there was an eta for the rest of our food. Several tables around us went to the hostess to ask to speak to a manager and she refused to find one. As we walked out (we cancelled the mains eventually) a few people waiting for takeout said they had been waiting almost 2 hours for their orders and couldn't get a straight answer on if/when their food would be ready. I could forgive long waits on a busy holiday night, but the unbelievably rude staff have ensured I will never be back or order takeout from there again.

Jeff K.

Yelp
Food is average and not on par with what it used to be like several years ago. The prices are very high for the quality you get, or lack thereof. Not going back as there are better alternatives in close proximity.

Jen S.

Yelp
This place is suuuuuper delicious so that means, in turn, it's suuuuper popular. It's well deserved. The food is delicious. The 2 times I came to pick up food, they has to go bags everywhere!!!!! Sometimes they are just simply overwhelmed with online orders. Once the platform didn't even get my order to their kitchen on time. I had been given notice it would take another 30 minutes, too, so I waited a long time. But they made it as soon as I got in when they realized the error. But just be prepared to have a back up plan. But they are worth the wait, I promise!

Emi S.

Yelp
as a foodie i knew as soon as i walked in that this would lead to food poisoning or at the very least a ver bad stomach ache. the service was fine, very kind waiters. the ambiance was off, the place was very dim and felt very outdated. the food wasn't even tasty, and spoiler alert did in fact lead to food poisoning, never in my life have i experienced the level of illness i had from this place. please if you love yourself and the food you eat do not go to this place! i never leave reviews EVER, but this place was something else. the food tasted as if it was frozen and cooked in a microwave, it was rubbery, flavorless and quite literally made me and the whole party i went with SICK. it's an ABSOLUTELY NOT kinda place for me.

Latoya T.

Yelp
I love Chinese food. I have been to golden temple before and anytime that I am visiting Brookline. The quality of their food is excellent. A beautiful setting with very upscale staff and setup!

Gary S.

Yelp
pretty bad these days overcooked, greasy, too much sauce must be new owner or sleeping old one Save your money

Jose B.

Yelp
Hit or miss is the thing hear as far a s the food also portions and prices. Example the large Golden Temple Fried Rice while very tasty was very small for the $17 price tag. The Crab Rangoon was unfamiliar to this life long Chinese and American Chinese food eater and would not recommend them. The egg Rolls were good enough and big enough to justify their two for seven dollar price tag (somewhat). The biggest disappointment were the famous ribs for $24 no less and they were obviously old and dried out not fair GT $24 down the drain for that. $ 7 for a vey weak wonton soup $12 for six clams in black bean sauce I could get a dozen raw oysters for that lol. The service was excellent the value non existent and some of the food down right embarrassing . But still I have a weakness for good fried rice and the service was good so a 3 star review.

Kelly M.

Yelp
Ordered take out from golden temple. Got three main dishes and no white rice was included. They didn't mention it in their menu. I called the restaurant and they were unapologetic and rude. They even said, "don't order from here again." There are better Chinese restaurants that actually include white rice in their order (which is typical) and have good customer service. Never ordering from here again.

Wendy W.

Yelp
We called on Christmas Eve and asked to place an order for Christmas Day. We were told to go on line and place the order, which we did for pickup 24 hours later. The total was almost 200$ because of their special "Christmas" menu. I could get over the price, except when we went to pick up the food they said they didn't have the order. We got two confirmations and my credit card was charged. Then they found the order but only part of it, and we waited from 6:00pm until 7:20pm. They ran out of the spicy clams we ordered and said they would credit our card...no credit yet. I grew up in Brookline and have eaten at Golden Temple all my life. This is not the same restaurant that it used to be. Horrible, Horrible, Horrible customer service and the food is mediocre at best. Never again!

Jack H.

Yelp
we use to love this place. Good food, best Mai Tias, clean tables and cloth napkins. last year we went there and had $300 in gift certificates I thought they were going to need to use a defibrillator on the manager when we presented it. Not sure if the place changed hands but they only honored $200. They said they thought it was only for $200 but we could use the rest next time. Went there tonight. All prices increased , drinks in smaller glasses but cost more, barbecued spare ribs require a chain saw to pull apart and even then they are inedible. Sticky tables and limited paper napkins round out the night. I was so disappointed with how drastically this restaurant has gone down the tubes. I am burning any remaining gift certificates knowing I will never have any use for them.

Yelp
Haven't been in town and able to go here in a few years. Was great as always. Good food, good service, yes it's expensive. He what isn't these days and If you're getting good quality and portions the money is worth it. My only issue is a platter for "two" comes with 1 egg roll? If you want a second they won't do it, they make you buy a side which is now 3 egg rolls for 2 people. I mean don't get me wrong I was happy to scarf down a 2nd egg roll (my wife was full with 1) but they really should include 2 on a platter for 2.

Yelp
This is the kind of place you want to love but simply can't after eating the food. I went recently with a friend and while the interior is nice, the food was simple not good. We had an order of beef that was so thin and deeply fried that they were like jerky to eat. The kung pow chicken has a strange, almost fermented/spoiled taste to it, and the fried rice was simply okay. I would love to find a spot that does fantastic American-style Chinese food, it seems to be a dying specialty. Alas, this is not that place. Perhaps the drinks are the draw, seemed like the bar was more crowded than the dining hall.

Yelp
I had the worst experience with them today. My first and last I'll tell you that. First I want to start off by saying I waited an hour and 20 minutes for my food. My food came cold and It was nothing like what I expected!!!! To add I didn't eat all day so this was my first meal and it went straight in the trash!!!! I ordered the golden temple chicken wings! There were supposed to be fired like crispy and have a sauce nothing about the chicken was cripsy and if anything the chicken just looked nasty definitely not fried. Definitely cried a little because I don't play when it comes to my food ( yes extra I know but who's checking me )

Yelp
A near perfect experience! The Pros: Ordered from DoorDash and it arrived 40 minutes earlier. Which was AWESOME! Crab Rangoon actually had some crab in it and wasn't just cream cheese. Hot and Sour Soup was a perfect balance of spices and a nice consistency, full of bamboo shoots and shitake mushrooms and tofu. YUM! I would order here again just for this! Chicken wings were perfect! Juicy, cooked well done, good flavor large order and similar price to other places. Veggie Brown Rice was very flavorful. I also love that they let you choose which oil you would like your food made with on certain dishes. Spicy Mustard was very good! The Cons: The BBQ spareribs on the bone and the price. Ok, ok... I know this is a favorite with everyone BUT I just wasn't impressed. I would probably think they were good if they were only $12 or maybe $15 but that's pushing it... By no means do I think these ribs are worth $21.95! I have no problem paying high price for ribs if they blow me away... I have eaten at Southern Kin and was way more impressed with those and had no problem paying upwards of $20 for those ribs. The ribs here just did not cut it for me. I would just aim for the boneless spareribs and save $10. Overall - I love this place and look forward to trying as many dishes as possible here. Mmmm. I'll just be skipping those ribs!

Yelp
I love Golden Temple, I come to this Chinese restaurant often. I usually come in the evenings but I went for lunch the other day with my family. The service seems a little different during the day time. There weren't any white table cloths on the tables, which is odd because they always have cloths on in the evenings (the actual tables are pretty stained, this is why I noticed). I asked for lemons in a bowl and the gentleman brought the lemons to me on a napkin and said he couldn't give me a bowl... interesting. Also when we gave him payment when the meal was done, there was about $5 change, which was never given back to us. It was like he assumed that was going to be apart of his tip. The food is always delicious when I go there. I ordered chicken fingers, shrimp fried rice, pork egg foo young, crab Rangoon and boneless spareribs. The shrimp fried rice is amazing, they give large pieces of shrimp. I love their chicken fingers, they are always cooked soft with crunchy edges and the meat is tender. Anytime I go to other Chinese food restaurants, I'm never a fan of their crab Rangoon, but this place is different. There's a bit of a sweet flavor and the dough on the outside is crispy. It's a delightful taste! The establishment is always clean and the bathroom is always presentable. It is a well kept restaurant.

Yelp
Have been here multiple times since 2016, always consistent and classic with yummy food orders and great (!) drinks. A bit fancy so I try not to go there in sweatpants ever a great date night place!

Yelp
The BEST bartenders around!! Tom and Mei are so energetic and fun. You will definitely have a great time if you sit at the bar! I recommend trying their Mai Tais. While you're at the bar, you can also order some finger food like crab rangoons, spare ribs, etc..

Yelp
Usually this is my go-to place for Chinese takeout but I'm rethinking that after I got delivery from them on 5/9/20. First, I asked for extra ginger and duck sauce because my niece loves it but neither came so that caused a fight. The chicken pot stickers were soggy and the expensive boneless BBQ ribs (which they are known for) were burnt inside and out. See picture below. Hopefully they were just having a bad night but for paying over $70 I was pretty disappointed :(

Yelp
Ordered Christmas dinner via online ordering system and received order confirmation. When I arrived to pick up the food the staff had the order printed but did not make the order and would not make it. He said he had over 60 orders and couldn't make them all. He also would not refund my money and said it would take a week to get the money back. Never got an email or phone call to cancel my order, they waited until I showed up. No apologies and no Christmas dinner.

Yelp
Insanely expensive.... I ordered Lrg Fried Rice, Gen. Goa's Chix, Spicy Beef, and an Egg Drop Soup.... $70.00 . After 2.5 hours later and no delivery... I decided to call ... they had my order sitting there...

Yelp
Very over priced. Extremely small portions. Tend to be overwhelmed, rude, and slow. They used to great. I'm going to try my hardest not to return. Time to find new place.

Yelp
I really hoped our experience would be different than all the other 1 star ratings. Sadly, it was not to be. We literally waited 30 min and finally the hostess graciously took our order. I had to ask for a comped crab Rangoon which I was excited about but they weren't even that hot. I'm sure they would have been tastier hot. Shrimp fried rice at $17.95 was overpriced no matter how good and plentiful the shrimp was. Hubby's special pad thai was good, but also pricey at $23.95. We're probably never ever ever going there again. I really appreciated that the hostess was so apologetic. But it still didn't make up for the fact that he took forever to get us the check. They need to just hire more bussers and servers, especially if they know there's going to be a big party in the next room!

Yelp
My family and I recently got take out from here and boy was it a disappointment. I got a fried shrimp dish and it wasn't great, it was bland, the sauce wasn't very good either. My mom had a dish that was way too salty and was super bland. And my cousin had a dish that she didn't like very much either. She said it was boring too. I really wish there was a good Chinese restaurant in Brookline county area. Also, this place was WAYYY too expensive for how bad it was
