Golden Thali

Very underrated and uthentic place away from downtown. I was in this neighborhood for some chores and decided to stop by this place because I love Indian food. I am picky about my food and critical but this place satisfied my cravings. I like to judge indian food based on their naan and this one was soft, buttery and delicious. I chose a vegetarian option with daal and a side of chutney. It was yummy.

We ordered chilli paneer, roti, and navratan pulao. The food was served hot, however it was quite bland and it lacked seasoning especially salt and was quite oily. Overall, it was an okay experience.

GO HERE. THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS . I am vegan and the dhal and channa masala was divine. Great vegan options. The naan comes out fresh steaming hot. This is a hidden gem next to Chinatown and they're open late !! Yum!!!!

Delicious Indian food! I got the chicken curry and garlic naan and they were phenomenal. Friendly service too! Lots of vegan options, and open late!

This is a fantastic Indian restaurant with authentic flavors that remind me of home. the naan was fresh from the tandoor. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel very welcome. The atmosphere was elegant and cozy, making it a great spot for a special night out. I highly recommend this hidden gem!"

Food was decent, as expected with Indian curries and naan breads. Flavor was good, however the portions were quite small for the price. The rice portions were small as well for $7. We had the butter chicken, chicken tikka, veggie korma, shrimp curry, some rice and naans. The chicken tikka was moist but not quite the same flavor in intensity and color that i am used to! They added onions and green pepper to the dish.

I ordered the veg biryani and Sambar soup. When you enter this absolute gem of an establishment, you’re greeted with the aroma of traditional Indian cuisine and friendly staff. You’ll walk past the kitchen and up to the lovely dining room where you’ll receive exceptional service. The chef was accommodating and when i asked to have my dishes made spicier than extra spicy, they lit me on fire. The heat and spices are still dancing on my tongue. If you enjoy Indian food or would like to try it, i would highly recommend golden thali restaurant. It’s located on rue Clark in the heart of old Montreal between quarter des spectacles and china town. I will be returning, hopefully sooner than later as I’m from out of town. Five stars

- NOT RECOMMENDED- Imagine chilli chicken and rice , or lamb curry and naan … sounds so delicious.. but today’s experience broke that imagination. I didn’t like the food at all. Chilli chicken is more like Karahi chicken, with 1/3 chicken 2/3 onions and bell peppers , shrimp curry was suggested as spicy. It was absolutely sweet or even flavourless . The shrimp was cooked fine. Lamb was really hard and chewy, chicken seekh kabab was overcooked. Naan was good . 👍 service was also good. But definitely I was disappointed. And the total bill was more than 100$
