Traditional-style, licensed chippy with retro decor, serving fish and chips and selection of beers.
"Golden Union is a quintessential London chippy. Homemade mushy peas? Check. Battered sausage? Yes. Cod the size of a horse’s head? Absolutely. Golden Union is a very solid spot to spend an hour. The chairs are comfy, the tables most definitely aren’t made from the remnants of a child’s slide, and there are even some of those ultra cool neon signs to appease your inner Tracey Emin fan. For under £20 you can have some tasty fish and chips, or the battered king prawns if you’re feeling adventurous/treasonous, plus a cup of tea. Lovely." - Oliver Feldman, Heidi Lauth Beasley, Jake Oliver, Rianne Shlebak
"Your order: Fish bites and chips - £9.50 Purists will say that fish and chips is best enjoyed out of the bag on foot. Professionals will politely disagree and suggest they park themselves on the nearest corner and let their digestive system come to terms with what’s ahead of them. We’d recommend you do the same after swinging by Golden Union fish bar. Whether it’s for a scoop of chips, a jumbo sausage, or a weapon-sized bit of battered fish. It’s a rare example of a consistently good hotspot chippy in a consistently hectic area." - jake missing
