"I observed that lagers have also become central to operations like Goldfinger Brewing in suburban Downers Grove, reflecting a broader local interest in easy-drinking lager styles." - Aimee Levitt

Google
Goldfinger was recommended to me by a couple of craft beer enthusiasts, and I’m glad I went out of my way to visit. It’s a nice clean interior with a nice ambiance, and the staff was friendly. I sat at the bar which was comfortable enough. The beer menu is small, but what they do make is excellent. They do mostly lagers, and they do them well. I started with their pils, which takes a while to pour, but it’s worth the wait. This pilsner was smooth and flavorful while remaining refreshing. Their original lager was also great, and I wish I lived closer. I can understand why they’ve won awards. I’ll have to bring friends with me next time I make the trek to this place.

Goldfinger Brewing in Downers Grove is one of the best craft breweries in all of Chicagoland! You won't find any IPAs here - they just do lagers and typical Central European beers. No fruited sours, no gose...but that's ok. What Goldfinger does is world class. They have indoor and outdoor seating with all types of food trucks visiting their taproom. Plenty of parking and they are close to the Metra station as well. Get over to Goldfinger Brewery for fantastic lagers and traditional Central European beers!

Google
Goldfinger is one of my favorite breweries in Illinois. The taproom is welcoming and thoughtfully designed, modern without feeling cold, and when the weather is nice, the patio is a great place to relax too. What sets Goldfinger apart is their precision. Every beer feels intentional. The brewmaster owner and team are relentlessly focused on doing things the right way, and it shows in every beer. They are not just making great lager. They are quietly brewing some of the best lager in Illinois, maybe even the Midwest without chasing trends or resorting to gimmicks. Goldfinger honors tradition while setting a high standard for what beer can (and should) be.

Google
I’ve been coming here regularly since 2020 when they opened and I just now realized I’ve never reviewed them. Goldfinger is far and away the best brewery in the suburbs. Awesome ownership, friendly staff and fantastic beer. I’ve never had a bad time here and their commitment to their craft is second to none - do yourself a favor and check them out if you haven’t already.

Love Goldfinger. My spouse and I frequent this brewery regularly. The atmosphere, the staff, the beer- all are phenomenal. From singles to couples, to families with young kids, this is the perfect late afternoon/evening/late night spot for everyone. It's such an all season place, too. Come in the summer, enjoy the outdoor patio, come in the winter and enjoy the cozy indoor vibes. Favorites are the Vienna, Original, and seasonal specials like the Baltic Porter.

Stopped up with a Group & discovered the Paradise of Beers. Tried four different beers and each had a great taste & finish. Went back for some more today because we enjoyed it so much. Great service & hospitality! Tip Jared, he is very knowledgeable!

Google
From the moment we started working with their team, it was clear they take as much pride in their hospitality as they do in their incredible beer. The quality of their lagers is unmatched—crisp, refreshing, and crafted to perfection. The vibe? Absolutely perfect for any gathering—warm, inviting, and effortlessly cool. Hosting an event here was a breeze, thanks to their attentive staff and well-thought-out space. If you're looking for an outstanding brewery to enjoy a pint or plan an event, Goldfinger Brewery is the place to be!

Google
4 beers on tap. Each one I tasted was done well. Yum. I had the Vienna, Jen had the Chela Chido and Jimmy had the Original. All were really good and the service was excellent. We were on a three brewery crawl so were here a short time. Here’s the breakdown: Excellent beer +1 star; great service +1 star; cool place I’d like to go back to next time I’m in town +3 stars

Yelp
I love Goldfinger beers and was thrilled when I moved to Downers Grove that their brewery is nearby! I've been a handful of times - they have a cool history dating back to a Polish brewery. Their beers are all lagers (you won't find any IPAs or stouts here) and all delicious and crisp. The folks who work here are always friendly and fun to talk with. I'll be back!

Yelp
Great vibe for serious beer aficionados - limited TV viewing, concentrated list of lagers on tap (plus a collab Weiss beer) and a pretty keen focus on service with proper glassware and quality pours. A large window into a pristinely maintained brewhouse. And all the above is reflected in the final products - clean crisp unencumbered lagers.

Bob L.

Yelp
It's a great atmosphere. Everyone is very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Great beer. Nice dart board and shuffle board. Do not dig the music being played at all.

Yelp
Came in recently after doing shopping in the area. Goldfinger is a pretty unique awesome brewery. It doesn't have any IPAs, but just lagers. A nice thing for those looking for something else. They also serve hard and soft pretzels in case you're also hungry. Fairly rare for a brewery to not have a single IPA but it's the case. It's a good thing because I'm tired of IPAs. This style has been done to death by local craft brewers so it's nice getting other stuff. Lagers are the main thing here. The Original Lager is a great example of this. It's $7 for a pint. This is a single decoction, which is an interesting process that makes it tastier. It's still a pretty light beer. The food is limited to pretzels. It has these boxes of hard ones. There's dill pickle and other flavors of these. I got the Soft Pretzel. It's $6 and good for absorbing alcohol so it serves a purpose too. Try one and drink up. Good beer. It has none of those overdone IPAs so try something else on tap for once. There's not that much for food but there's good pretzels and overall there's a good variety.

Yelp
I love lagers ! And I miss simplicity in menus, they know what they are doing and they are doing it well without feeling the need to offer a huge range. I've been to goldfinger at least 6 times now and it hasn't disappointed us ! I love the outdoor seating during summer and more importantly the ice cold beers

Yelp
I always appreciate a brewery that specializes in nice, clean lagers. Goldfinger is no exception. The Vienna or and Original lagers are extremely drinkable with no off-flavors you sometimes find in styles like these. The brewery is large, open, and clean with plenty of seating options. The location is great, being so close to downtown Downers and the Metra. I could see myself taking the train here from the city so as nice to have to drive myself back. The other patrons were friendly and easy to talk to. The staff were friendly and inviting. My only complaint is that there are only a few beers on tap at a time. I'm not much of a pils fan, so they only leaves a few other options for my to enjoy. I would like to see an expanded selection a la Metropolitan, that way there's a little more variety. Hopefully that will be the case one day as the brewers perfect their recipes.

Yelp
We had been waiting to check this place out for a while and it lived up to the hype! Phenomenal crisp lagers, great friendly staff in a clean welcoming taproom. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
The best euro beers In the Chicagoland area! Beers are sheer fantastic!!! Been coming here since they opened about 5 years ago and have always been a fan!! Try their slow pours. Delicious!

Yelp
Don't tell anyone...but this brewery brews beer that...TASTES LIKE BEER. No hopped Orange Julius or milkshake douche-ology. Just beer. Nice clean interior. Super friendly staff. Gorgeous patio space for the location it's in. Wish it was closer.

Yelp
Empty for a Friday night. No food but cider was delicious. Place is small but distribution center makes up most of the space.

Yelp
Really good beers, top quality at a reasonable price. The Original Lager was my favorite (and apparently everyone's as supply got tapped out in like two weeks). It's a great Helles lager, super smooth, light, just that hint of bready sweetness at the end. Reminded me of beers I would drink in Germany. The Pils was a bit hoppy for me, but others were saying it's a good Pils so probably just my dislike of hops. And the Vienna lager was good as well. Can't wait for Oktoberfest There's a huge outdoor space given the current COVID environment but also a very large, modern beerhall style indoor area. Wish them the best.

Yelp
good overall experience! come here if you like lagers. even if you don't, it's fun and a good spot. staff: 4 out of 5. friendly, mindful. beers: 4 out of 5. snacks/food: won't rate bc did not actually try. as a side score, i give the variety/selection 3.5 out of 5. ambiance: 4 out of 5. nicer on the inside than i expected tbh! they have nice glassware fwiw. merch is on point too! they're known for their slow pour of their pilsner, which takes about 10 min (!!). the finished product is cool to see. stop by and experience the brewery for yourself!

Jefferey E.

Yelp
Good beer. Pretty much all Pilsners and lagers which is nice if you like that style. Hit or miss on the bartender/service. But the beer is good

Yelp
Yummy yummy A brewery with NO ipas and a focus on non traditional style!! Stopped in during the octoberfest and had the " thiolfest "- outstandingly made with a unique yeast finish. The octoberfest beer was also excellent. The pils was flavorful and well balanced . One of best local pils I've had Highly recommend

Yelp
Great Beer!!!!!! They usually have 5 or 6 beers on the tap that they do very well!! Clean well made beers. Lagers and Pils are much harder to make. Any brewery can add hops to save a brew. If you want IPAs and shitty sours, go to your typical bro brewery. They have a great product, friendly staff, and good space. I love that you can bring your own food. My only complaint is that they do not show sports.

Yelp
I wish this brewery had been around when I still lived in DG! This side of town is lacking in the cool places to have a beer category, so Goldfinger is a great addition! We went on a Sunday with the plan to sit inside- Wow is this place MUCH bigger than we expected!! They have great, long tables (for post-covid when we can all get together again)- but in the meantime, it's great to spread out. They did have an outdoor area, but not sure how that will be in the upcoming winter months. Because Goldfinger is new, they don't have a huge selection. Take this as you will, but I don't think it's a bad thing. What I didn't love is that they were out of two of their beers, so that really limits what you can try here. I will say, what I tried, I loved! So looking forward to coming back when they have everything back on tap. Everyone working was so nice, and immediately cleaned when a group got up from their table. Overall we had a great experience.

Yelp
Service was awful. Walked in and sat at the bar--one other patron at the bar. No "hello", no "be with you in a moment". No acknowledgment at all. Two people behind the bar. Waits on someone who came in after us. Takes a phone call and sends the other bartender to check on how long the food truck will be there. Brings another drink to a guy at the bar who already has one. Still no acknowledgment at all. Then another person walks in and they wait on him. That's when we left. I don't know how you can ignore people and stay in business. If you like being ignored, head in there, but you'll have to go somewhere else to drink.

Yelp
Small selection of beer but high quality in taste large area to sit inside with nice clean lines... outdoor seating is nice with the lights and music playing in the background large enough if you wanted to bring Fideo for a day out can be a little noisy with the train tracks right next to it a good place all around

Yelp
I had a Bock, which reminded me of the best beers I drank when I was stationed in northern Bavaria. The brewing equipment can be viewed through a glass window near the bar. What a glorious vision, this is what stainless steel and copper were made for. I'm told that the Bock is almost out, so I'm looking forward to the next recipe! There is ample outside seating covered by a tent, with small tables and a few long tables with benches, bier hall style. If I had one negative remark, it was that carbs are limited to large soft pretzels with cheese sauce & mustard and small bags of chips. I realize that a brew-pub cannot 'serve' food, but I wish the food vendors who come on site would make sure to offer something to absorb some of the alcohol.

Yelp
Excellent Brewery with nice limited selection of fantastic brew. The 5.2% Original has great flavor. Service was stellar as well....I'll be back!
google avatar

Katie N.

Yelp
Place was packed on a Friday afternoon. Service was slow. I felt bad for the one server running to all of the tables. I was under impressed with the beers. At the time of my visit they had 3 options as their 4th was tapped out. Lots of outdoor seating which was nice.

Yelp
Awesome addition to the local brewery scene! Plenty of parking, great outdoor space, clean, friendly staff, laidback atmosphere, dog friendly and the beer is perfection! A simple menu of traditional European beers, simple but complex in taste. Each is thoughtfully served in its own gorgeous glass or mug. The New Zealand lager is my favorite so far. I will be back again and again!

Yelp
I visited Goldfinger Brewing Company on 6/24 in the late afternoon. I visit craft breweries as a hobby. Their inclusion was likely 164 at the time of this writing. I had heard from several other breweries that Goldfinger is Lager Heaven. This is definitely their speciality. When I visited it was a nice day out and most patrons were outside under their tent seating area. It was busy and I would guess they have loyal patrons. I,found out they don't do flights but offer samples. My very friendly server brought me four samples and a bunch of free brewery stickers when I asked for one. Very nice of her and showed pride in their brewery. All the lagers & pilsners I tried were extremely clean and demonstrated a clear hops floral taste on the palate. Goldfinger is a good example of a small brewery that focuses on doing a classic style very well. I believe they had good Wi-Fi and a spacious clean taproom with happy patrons & friendly staff. I would recommend a visit.

Yelp
This brewery is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! The beer was delicious and the service was exceptional. We really enjoyed sitting in the Adirondack chairs and soaking in the atmosphere on a beautiful summer evening. Definitely looking forward to enjoying many beers at Goldfinger in the future!
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Great clean brewery. Fun Oktoberfest. Good selection of beers.

Terryl J.

Yelp
If you like craft beer, this may be your place. The selection is limited. The pils was good. No food nor anything other than their brews. Stark decor with bright lighting and long tabled seating. They do have games if you are looking for a casual evening.
google avatar

Andy M.

Yelp
This seemed a solid indie brewery with a great inside, unfortunately people had to be in a tent area where it was 40 degrees and I took my 40 ounce can to the car and enjoyed some great fresh non industrial real craft beer and not the globalist industrial corn based syrup American bug Mexican beer brands that unfortunately have too much sway and influence on American and Mexican casinos throughout North America. I had never seen or heard of this brewery and stopped pronto upon driving by it and it proved to be a great drink experience one I will repeat and Mark down for a summer return as this whole covid BS is utterly ridiculous meant to quell the business and entrepreneurs such as this brewery in favor of the large cheap corn globalist liquor store bad brands of corn beer
google avatar

Patti M.

Yelp
If you are looking for a casual place to meet great friends, look no further as Goldfinger not only offers a great environment but a selection of brews for the masses! Nothing but CLASS at this brewery!

Dan B.

Yelp
Nice to find a micro specializing in lagers/pilsners. Unfortunately of the 4 beers listed only 2 were tapped. However, they were both delicious. While there are plenty of micros to choose from these days, this is the one worth going out of our way for.
google avatar

Alan N.

Yelp
Goldfinger Brewery is newest brewery on the scene. Opening during the pandemic is a struggle, but I hope they succeed. They only have three beers at this time: original, pils and Vienna. They started selling crowlers and growlers today. I got a crowler of each. All were delicious, but the original is my favorite.

Jack B.

Yelp
First time and from out of town! Very clean and open brewery! I loved the Oktoberfest beer the most! Staff was awesome!
google avatar

Kevin S.

Yelp
Stopped in for a to go Pilsner. Really nice beer. The facilities look great and a large outdoor space. Glad to have another brewery.

Pete R.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of German and Czeck beers and this place did not disappoint. We had the Lager which was my favorite, the Pils which was great and the Bohemian Pils which my wife adored. Let me also say this, if you are a craft beer snob OR a casual craft beer drink this place works for both. Understand their specialty though. If you only enjoy a session of drinking with all types of beer you will be disappointed. They also were super cool with us brining snacks for the kiddos as we sat outside on the patio on a Saturday afternoon :)

John P.

Yelp
Surprisingly excellent vienna lager and pilsner. I'm very impressed given how difficult these syles are to master. Nice job- I will definitely be back!

Lynda P.

Yelp
Hands down the best locally brewed lager. Great location, friendly staff. Will definitely be back.
