Look at this place! The atmosphere is exquisite: the wood, the unique furniture, the variety of spaces! It is quieter than many other coffee shops with a particular flair for tea. Notice the serving tray below. I really enjoyed the time I spent here. As an added bonus, they have games you can play. Not all of which are mainstream. Simply fun.

Yes! Go In! Chia Latte was very flavorful one of the best, very savory with the hint of spice I love. I would rate it as one my top most enjoyable hot drinks. I ordered a large, it was one of the more pricey teas in comparison but within range. Served in a ceramic cup, thank you. I would have loved to sip just a little bit more. Service was on point with the timeliness . There were 2 employees working, a bit busy after I received my order. I believe customer service is key a simple smile a sharing of product line would add a more personal touch. I did let them know It was my first time and only then, I learned they blend their teas. Goldfish Tea just look up and around the decor is spectacular the ceiling art is amazing It drew me inside. There is seating as you enter, it opens up with plenty of seating in the back. A bit dark, tables, sofa type (hard) bench seating, some pillows a few soft chairs a bit worn. Suggestion! Layout not ideal could use a paid college intern or two to redesign the layout to create a more relaxed refresh look to compliment the Art and unique seating. Increase business and draw a wider crowd to Royal Oak Tea connoisseurs for meet ups! It was not on my agenda to stop for tea, however I had some time before my dinner and had been passing by this tea house for about a year. If it wasn't for a suggestion to try I may not have come in. The facade could use a refreshed look also! The windows open the opportunity to capture the crowd as they pass by. It will increase business . It's very popular with a young trendy college crowd, some groups tend to be very loud. This distract from the atmosphere of a calm relaxing moment I would expect. However a few Royal Oak interns can make a difference maybe some Shoji screens, linseed oil! Support Local! js

Awesome variety! Was so happy to find a tea cafe because I feel like there are not so many in Michigan! I was not a huge fan of my tea, I think their timer was started slightly late and it got over brewed. Lovely atmosphere!!

Not my favorite place to get bubble tea but it’s kinda nice in here. The popping boba is overly sweet, not like the typical boba I get everywhere else. Staff is friendly.

Great spot for a large selection of tea and hanging with friends. They have fun tea ceremony booths and plenty of seating AND board games! I tried the temple of heaven (nice and light), precious eyebrow (wouldn't recommend but love the name), and the chai (which was my favorite!). The staff working were very quiet and since I hadn't been there before I wasn't sure if I had to wait by the counter or not. If you don't know a lot about tea I recommend doing some research before coming so you're not overwhelmed by the menu. I also recommend getting the tea flight since you get 3 teas and you can add hot water and get a few cups out of all of them!

I went here to meet up with a group of friends. This is a great place! I loved the atmosphere with soft music playing in the background. There was a selection of board games available, but I didn't get a chance to play any. It's a great option if you've got some time to kill. I purchased a cup of Arabian Knight tea, which was fantastic. It had a full flavor that didn't need and sugar additives.

This place was super cute and the staff was helpful. I had never been there before and they were so kind and walked me through the process. I went around 5:30pm on a Tuesday night. It’s small but not claustrophobic. And the tea was delicious!

Goldfish tea has been a favorite of mine for years. The baristas are always super friendly and they have an awesome area to hang out or work/study. You can get drinks to go or have it in house in mugs or a teapot. It is fun to come with a group of friends and sit at the more private booths with little cushion seats. I always get the goldfish chai tea, sometimes with boba in it and it's delicious. They have several different types of milks for all dietary needs and some rotating baked goods for sale. They have bubble teas, coffee, hot chocolate, etc. The best place to park is the garage kitty corner from the shop, first 2 hours are free unless you get lucky with street parking.

Not sure what happened to this place. I would go there every now and then and usually had a good experience. However, they closed a year ago and were supposed to move, then nothing happened with the new location. Not sure what the current status is.

When is Goldfish Tea reopening? I'm assuming it's permanently closed? Even though they said they're just switching locations.

Came here with my girlfriend to try boba for the first time, I loved it sm. The atmosphere was really calming and workers there were super chill. Boba tasted really good too!!! Will be back next time I'm in royal oak 100% (Btw I got a French vanilla milk tea with brown sugar flavoured tapioca pearls)

My new favorite spot for tea and studying! They have a wonderful selection of tea available and everyone working here is super knowledgeable. Awesome service and they're all very accommodating and helpful in giving new suggestions to try. There's a good amount of seating with good lighting. It's also been pretty quiet the last few times I've gone which makes it a great spot to get some work done. Definitely recommend checking it out!

THIS PLACE IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED! Signage is still up on the building but the inside is dead empty. It used to be so good, rip to goldfish tea :(

Interestingly enough, I am not a fan of bubble tea. My family is though, and they love building their own. This place is most famous for the bubble tea, but they have other coffee and tea options. I am more of an iced tea drinker - and the gentleman at the register helped me choose a green tea. It was unsweetened - my sister asked if they could add more ice and liquid sugar because the regular sugar wasn't working for me. They were more than happy to fix it. They have some snacks as well. The comfy couch areas are great for relaxing and drinking tea/coffee or playing one of the many board games that they have on the wall. We enjoy coming here and playing games together. The atmosphere is relaxing and peaceful. They sell figures and teapots as wel, very pretty ones. We come here often as a group. If you have never tried bubble tea, it is worth giving it a go.

I had planned a day in Royal Oak with some Yelp friends that included a brunch stop at Cafe Muse followed by the latest Avengers movie. We had some time in between and one of the groups members suggested we stop by this place. I walked in and thought it was a cool place that was very clean and well appointed. The guy behind the counter gave us menus to check off what we wanted in our teas. They have a large selection of teas and add ins with something to suit everyone's taste. I went with a green tea base, milk and tapioca pearls. The drink was mild and tasty and about what I would expect from a tea shop in Royal Oak price wise. We all grabbed our drinks and sat at a round table that had some interesting bowed out wooden stools. I saw that they had several seating areas and several people chilling out or studying. The environment is much quieter than a chain place imho.

I had a craving for bubble tea so I used their website to place an order online for pick up. Pick up was super fast! I walked in and they had my drink ready for me right away. I got a pineapple green tea with mango jellies. The mango jellies were super tasty but my tea did not have that much of a pineapple flavor. I wish it would have been a little bit stronger because I could barely taste the pineapple. The inside of the restaurant was super clean and I liked that they had an option to grab an eco-friendly straw, it always makes me happy to see businesses giving environmentally friendly options. I will be back but will probably try a different flavor for my tea next time!

I would give them a 4.5 actually. Goldfish has a nice selection of tea. They have boba and coffee as well. Also have some treats you can eat.... the ginger cookie *gluten free! I ordered the rose tea and it was delicious with some honey added. They are serving legit tea shop vibes. The tea and French press was served on Wooden tray with timers for perfect brewing time. I actually really enjoyed that, because certain teas have different steeping times. As well with French press, you don't want it to brew too long or too little. So, yeah I like the timers lol! Goldfish seems like a chill place to catch up with some friends and chill. There is a good amount of seating. I feel like this would be a good place to study, but make sure they aren't having performances. When I was there they were having open mic.

Their caramel latte was to die for. The atmosphere was so mellow. It was a great place for a business meeting with my partner. It may be my new spot for a chat with my girls.

Post brunch boba! If it's not already a thing, it is now :) A group of friends and I stopped in here to grab a sweet treat before our movie while hanging out in Royal Oak. I've been to Goldfish in the past, but never for boba, so I was pretty excited to try some. This was also my first time trying the pooping pearls instead of the tapioca pearls, so my excitement was instantly doubled. The inside is pretty large with lots of seating available, all the furniture is mismatch and just feels cozy as hell. We sat at one of the larger tables and still had plenty of room. When we went up to order boba, we got a laminated sheet with a dry erase marker to mix our own flavors. For mine, I got almond milk flavored peach and watermelon with strawberry pearls. It was very refreshing and the pearls were in my opinion much better than just the gummy tapioca pearls. They tasted great and you're not stuck chewing them just to get rid of them. I would definitely come back to mix some more flavors, like strawberry and lavender mmmhmmmmm!

On our Tastes of the World Trip last Saturday for my daughter, in honor of Autism Awareness Day, we stopped in for an Asian treat: Boba Tea. I had a Pineapple Mango Tea with Almond Milk while Ema had a tea with Rose. My wife had a tea as well but don't remember what she ordered. The setting was neat, the staff were fun and everyone enjoyed their drinks. I also enjoyed the paintings and decor. We hadn't really planned to come down the street but were sidetracked by a bunch of furries drawing crowds and attention to themselves and happened upon it. So glad we did. If you are looking for unique drink blends and like Chinese ambiance, this is a cool place to check out. You can use plastic, paper or bamboo straws and poke them through the top cover. Phone wasn't working, otherwise I would've taken some pics.

I tried this place twice. Unfortunately I can't recall what I had specifically for both time but rest assured, both were good experiences. To my surprise, they can make warm bubble tea, like what? It was one cold night and I wanted bubble tea but I feel cold. The staff offered me a warm boba which I thought was odd, but I went for it anyway and voila, it worked! I genuinely enjoyed it! The place is good for small group hang out as well. You can adjust the sweetness of your drink by request. Price is reasonable. The staffs are very helpful to help you figure out what drinks to get too!

I've had bubble tea from numerous places over the years, and Goldfish Tea is great for this treat. There were only four other people in the store and they were seated at tables. But instead of just taking my order, the young lady behind the counter told me to fill out a form to order. They have laminated cards and markers for you to check off what you want to order from the menu. I can see this helping the line move when they're busy and also when people are standing there and don't know what they want to order. For me, this slowed the process down since I already knew what I wanted. I always choose the milk tea. I had the honeydew this time since it's one of my favorites. The honeydew tasted slightly different from other places I've had it. It wasn't as smooth and fruity tasting as I would have liked. Overall, a good place to have bubble tea and other treats.

Always my go to place for milk tea. The atmosphere is one of my favorites of any tea shop I've ever been to. I used to love their open-mic Thursday's, too. Staff is always friendly.

No points for the boba tea. Boyfriend and I drove down 20 miles for boba tea as it is hard to find a decent boba tea here in Detroit. Sad to say, the search is still on! We tried the Honeydew watermelon and black berry Milk Tea with Boba. The flavor was really off and diluted. Added to it, the boba was tough. The place is hep and good for hanging out with a bunch of friends and must be great for the other drinks but wouldn't recommend the boba tea.

Great place to grab a coffee, tea, or boba! The prices are pretty reasonable and the drinks taste great. Many seats inside and out. I also saw there were a bunch of board games, a printer, and loose left teas for sale.

This is a great study area and/or hangout! The vibe in here is really relaxing and the employees are so nice! They have a pretty large drink menu so it can get quite confusing but allows for more options. They're milk tea and boba process is super simple. The milk tea and boba itself wasn't that bad! The milk tea was tasty but a little watered down. The boba was a little chewy and stuck together in chunks when drinking. I also had their lychee jellies which was okay. Overall, great to satisfy a craving!

I like goldfish very much. They have a great assortments of teas and coffee plus they have treats to go with tea or coffee... it's a great place to meet up with a friend or a first meeting for a blind or online date.

So happy I found this place! It was the only good boba place I found when while in Michigan (granted i only went to 3 places but still lol). The drink menu was big and looked great. To order boba, you use a card to fill out your flavors, milk, boba, etc. Very cute idea and never saw it before, nice! The service was really nice and the place gave traditional japanese vibes. I ordered the almond and rose milk tea w normal sweetening and boba. The flavors went so well together and the drink was smooth (which means no cheap powder, yay!) The boba had great consistency and sweetness but it was REALLY stuck together. Kinda hard to drink it when 10 of them are clumped together so wished they stirred it more to avoid that. But the consistency and flavor is what counts most so I didn't mind too much! Cool they offer 20% off first order too. This place is in a cool downtown too, shout out to Royal Oak for a cool crowd and the bars. Liked it more than pricey boutique Birmingham and kinda rough Detroit LOL.

If you're a fan of tea, Goldfish is a good spot for you to visit. They have a variety of blends to enjoy--from black, oolong, rooibos, green, white, etc with flavor profiles from florals to spiced and everything in between. You can order a simple mug or a pot and they provide a timer and additional hot water if you'd like to brew up another round. Teas are served on a cool tray which makes carrying it to your table easy to do. The space is very wood heavy and they have seating available for small pairs and/or solo tea enthusiasts but also communal areas which makes group meetings easy to coordinate. There are also several areas for sitting in a more lounge/floor like area (no chairs and the tables are low to the ground) which isn't my favorite seating arrangement (my back requires more structure) but it's a cool option. Live music, poetry readings, board games, free wifi, snacks and more make this a great community space as well. There's also bubble tea if you want a colder, sweeter option!

Goldfish Tea sells rose flavored bubble tea!!!! They make it perfectly too! The place is located in downtown royal oak and it has a seating area for customers to enjoy tea and hangout! Definitely my favorite tea/boba place in Michigan!! (And I have been to nearly all of them!) Can't wait to go back!!

I love how cozy this place is and the great tea options. What a fun spot to have some tea between friends and to still be quiet enough to be able to carry on a conversation. The bench seats are not the most comfortable, but the inside has a cozy feel to it. I think it would be nicer to have more caffeine free option, there's some, but not as many great options as there are for caffeine teas as Bean and Leaf down the street.

Goldfish Tea doesn't have any Goldfish, but they should. But they do have Tea, and they have a lot of tea. They have many different kinds that appeals to many different tastes. I've tried several of their teas and they've all been very good. The staff is very helpful and gives a lot of good descriptions of the tea. Furthermore, they serve more than just tea, including coffee drinks and food. So here's the deal. When you go there you pick the type of tea you want (green, white, black, oolong or pu'er). There's many varieties of each type. They are priced by three different categories. You then select how much you want. You can get an individual cup, a small pot for a small group or a large pot for a large group. The tea is served on a tray with a timer. You steep the tea according to the timer. Remove the tea strainer, pour, and enjoy. Then if you want more put the strainer back in, take it up to the hot water bar and pick one of three spigots according to the type of tea. Fill with water, start the timer again and repeat as many times as needed. I love that it's so easy to steep and resteep your tea. The interior is comfortable with many chairs and tables. There are some couches and chairs with cushions. There are some large tables for a big group. The walls are lined with tea sets and tea for sale. Winding across the ceiling is a beautiful silk "river" that I believe is from China. They also have games and magnetic poetry to occupy your time. In addition, they provide free wi-fi that's not currently password protected. My only complaint is that the ambiance is not as comfortable as I would like it. It can either be quiet and relaxed or vibrant and busy. As another person stated, the lighting is a little too harsh for the place. I think dimmer lighting could create more ambiance and a more relaxed atmosphere. At my most recent trip, the shop was quite noisy. There was a large group talking about starting their non-profit organization, the owner's child was watching a loud DVD, overhead music was playing, people were shouting across the store, a man went to the bathroom and his timer went off for a long time before someone stopped it. The timers are loud and a little obnoxious. I know that the owners have little control over the noise. However, sometimes it's just too much. If I was still in school I don't know if I could study here, and I often prefer some background noise. Thursday evenings are open mic night. I attended once and the performances were not bad at all. However, it's quite loud so it's not the night if you're looking for a quiet, intimate place. If you want a locally-owned alternative to the big coffee chains, please support Goldfish Tea. It's a beautiful place and a great way to experience tea in a sophisticated yet easy way.

I have gotten tea and boba here a handful of times. I like the vibe here and their tea is good. Not my first choice for boba.

I came here because I wanted to try bubble tea. I told the lady what I wanted. She told me to feel out the card. I was a little confused by it, but I guess it helps them. The inside looks like a good place to work or study. There were two groups meeting. From the outside I expected it to be small but it's roomy. I'll have to try the tea without milk next time.

This store is so amazing that if I could I would rate it 6 stars! I've been going to Goldfish Tea a lot with my mom. We love going there because they have a very welcoming store. The store has the most coziest vibe and decorations. I 10/10 recommend their rose milk tea with your choice of boba! They have VERY comfortable seating. The workers are always really nice and polite! :) They have a very welcoming community and if you're looking for a new cozy, welcoming, and adorable cafe to attend, I recommend Goldfish Tea! So, this is a place where I would take a date you didn't know - prior to asking them out to dinner, etc. It's dark and intimate inside. I do see people study here, but I had the hardest time focusing in the lounge chairs and no windows in the back. And if you have a AT & T cell phone, you will get like 1 bar in the back! To DOs: Get a pot of tea to share and refills are free. The prices are according to the premium of the type of tea.

The music straight and the milk tea is even better. The jellies go hard. Staff friendly too, sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh.

This is the best bubble tea in town!!! Way better than even kung fu tea. We stopped in wanting coffee but decided to try their bubble tea. What a find this was. The almond bubble tea was amazing. You can taste actual brewed tea with hints of almond flavoring. The bubbles are soft, and most of all, it won't give you diabetes! All the other bubbles teas I've tried are way too sweet, even at Kung fu tea where you can customize your sweetness, it's never right. At goldfish, it was perfect. This is my new go to bubble tea place!!!

I love this place! I didn't realize how much I took advantage of how happy I was staying for 3+ hours with a friend playing their assortment of board games. They let you refill your water for your tea so I tend to get three cups out of the leaves. I definitely can't wait for them to reopen indoors but safety of the staff comes first:)

I like this place because it is unique and the only one like it in the area, but when it comes to bubble tea and tea, not the best place to get it at. The tapioca pearls aren't soft and chewy like bubble teas are suppose to be. It sort of had a hard center to it, meaning the cook time on the tapioca pearls weren't right. The flavors of the tea is just mediocre. You can taste that most of it came from powder. If you get a tea flavored one, its hard to taste the actual tea. Very heavy on the milk. They have a variety of teas, but for the value, it is a little hard to justify the cost of a little pot of tea for two people to share. The flowering teas are unique and you can choose between wanting a cold or hot tea. Environment and atmosphere of this place is great if you want to just gather with a few friends to hang out. It's quiet most of the time I've gone, but they do have open mic nights and music events that happen. So if you are looking for quiet, make sure you check their schedule.

This is a great little shop in Royal Oak to just hang out. They have a nice selection of bubble tea and hot tea along with some snacks. They occasionally have live music which can be nice. I like coming here with friends to catch up or play a board game.

This place is great. Good location, spacious, cozy atmosphere, and ample seating. There's also games to play if you want. There's a big tea section, and the bubble tea is super good. The only thing is it's overpriced.

I LOVE the boba tea here! Not only does Goldfish Tea offer a wide variety of tea, but a fun place to hang out. There is lots of seating and tables available whether you want to sit and read a book or you want to meet of with friends. Last time I was there there was a stack of games and books available for customer use. Highly recommend the taro milk boba tea- my personal favorite.

Great hidden gem! The bubble tea was quite decent, not served insanely hot like other places I've been to. It's great because you can customize your bubble tea. And it's a lot quieter than Atomic Coffee down the street. If you're looking for a quaint underrated hideaway from the busy, sometimes overcrowded coffee shops, this may be the place for you! I also love the creative seating choices! This place could have a few more pastry selections, but overall I cannot complain. Free WiFi too!

What a sweet spot. I love tea, though am easily overwhelmed by too many varieties. Goldfish has somewhere around 40 different types to choose from. According to the fella at the counter, that's nothing for a proper teahouse, but it's still a bit much for my indecisive mind. Luckily, the staff were super friendly and seemed to know their stuff -- helping me select just the right thing. Since I was really drinking tea as something of a dessert, I wanted something slightly sweet, and the ginseng oolong was perfect. I didn't think I wanted anything additional, but a little chocolate cookie hit the spot! This is a place for sitting, thinking, quiet talking with a friend -- maybe even a little reading. The fact that you have high-quality loose leaf tea, a timer, and unlimited hot water at your disposal means that you can hang around, linger for a bit, and enjoy several cups. The only thing that I didn't like? The scent of incense was really strong. When I sat down far from where it was burning, it was fine, but if I had been sitting closer, I think it really would have been too much.

My friends and I decided to try out Goldfish Tea for a writing meet up. We went today (Saturday) a little after opening and stayed for four-five hours. The entire time we were there, the shop was pretty chill. It never filled up completely and the back area of the shop (where we were seated) stayed pretty calm and empty. Goldfish Tea has a great atmosphere with mood lighting, soft music, and loads of interesting seating and decor. Since we were there for a while, I tried a couple things: Mocha Frappuccino, Iced Hazelnut Latte, Lemon Poppyseed Cake, and the 3 for $6 mini sandwiches. Everything was delicious. I'm more a coffee drinker than tea drinker (despite my friends all drinking tea) and I thoroughly enjoyed both coffees I purchased. They weren't too sweet and the flavors were perfect, especially the hazelnut. All the snacks we tried were great as well (my friends tried the nutella cookie, molasses ginger cookie, and the other sandwich choices). Everyone was pretty happy with their food and drink choices, which included some of the fancy sodas out of the cooler to the left of the cash register). I was also pretty impressed with how nice and easy-going the staff were. Both special requests my friends had for their teas were allowed for a modest upcharge. My only complaint would be the tables and seating. We were a group of four with laptops and notebooks. The biggest table we could work at was a round table with short stool seats. It was pretty uncomfortable and the workspace was cramped. We made it work (but probably mostly cause the staff were so great and all the drinks/food were delicious). I wish there was at least one or two rectangle tables somewhere in the back of the shop for working groups. But, that said, there are couches for groups, if you don't need work space, and plenty of tables for couples/pairs. Overall, Goldfish Tea is a great hidden gem for anyone who wants a quiet place to write or read for several hours. I could see myself coming back!

This is my first week at Detroit due to business trip. A crazy weather matched with green tea latte paired with peanut butter cookie. This is a very cool place where the store designs are very mandarin oriented but the crowd are all white. I'm expecting Asian looking servants but hey, no Asian look at all. Lol. Interesting tea house.

Great place, just hung out for an hour and changed my phone in one of their many outlets while enjoying a delicious cookie and drinking delicious coffee. They're mainly known for their fancy tea though.

You can tell it's a young vibe, so a lot of teenagers. They're got a large variety of blends, but I got the regular milk tea with tapioca and rainbow jelly. I have to say that I was slightly disappointed with their tapioca just because the serving size was SO SMALL. They are a little stingy with the ingredients (and lets just say that they're not stingy with charging you haha). If you like tea, this is your place to be. Just be mindful it will be a little more on the pricier side :)

I went here on a date this past Sunday because Starbucks, our original choice, was packed to the brim. Very glad I did! I had been wanting to try it for a while. I enjoy sweet teas but don't know anything about tea, so the employee there gave us some recommendations. It was fun to share a pot of tea and we filled it up one more time with water so we got two teapots out of it. Next time I will try their bubble tea, haven't been able to find a good place for my bubble tea fix since I left Ann Arbor ... so hopefully it's good :). Their cocoa also looked really good so I may try that as well.

New fun drink Thai bubble tea. The only thing that would make it better is on ice. Very yummy. Creamy and full of flavor. I will get this again. Other visits have included hot and iced teas. Prices slightly high.
