Goldsborough Hall

"A pretty village plays host to this grand, 16C country house which is surrounded by delightful grounds. There might be a classically formal feel to the place but not when it comes to the food. Modern, French-based dishes are eye-catching, well-balanced and full of bold flavours, with a good mix of classic and contemporary techniques showcasing the skill of the team. Go for the tasting menu with accompanying wine pairings." - Michelin Inspector

We spent one night at Goldsborough Hall on our journey back from Northumberland to Norfolk. We had never been to this hotel before and we weren't disappointed. We arrived a little early, so we had a walk round the wonderful garden, vegetable garden and grounds, sweeping views of the countryside abound. Lots of seating so you can sit and admire the surroundings.|Our room was called Hanson and was situated in the main house, a bright spacious room, with a huge bed, two comfy arm chairs, and everything you might need for a good stay. With spa bath and separate shower. All spotlessly clean.|The hotel lounges are large and full of character with plenty of comfortable chairs and sofas.|Dinner was an absolute delight, good ingredients, well presented and delicious, served in a timely manner, staff friendly and efficient.|Breakfast again was very good and of a high standard.|All the staff we spoke to during our stay were friendly and attentive.|Goldsborough Hall is only a short distance from Knaresborough, a busy Yorkshire Market town. |We shall definitely return, it was everything we hoped it would be.

I had my wedding day at Goldsborough Hall on August 10th 2025 and I honestly can not thank and praise the wedding team and venue enough. The day was faultless, they organised everything and I had absolutely NOTHING to worry about the morning of my wedding. ||Our guests were blown away by the beauty of the venue but also the service and attention to detail all provided by the team. The food was delicious and everyone who had a room at the hall (included with the price of the wedding!!!) commented how clean and gorgeous they were too. ||Building up to the day the wedding team couldn’t do enough to make us feel ready and excited. We had a tour when we booked, had another tour for our parents and a wedding prep meeting a month before where they outlined everything that would happen on the day. I had some nerves the night before and they were even there then to calm and reassure me the day would be amazing, and it was. The team are experienced, caring and the loveliest people who made our wedding day perfect. I can not recommend this stunning venue enough.

We got married here and you should too! Amanda organised everything for us and Mel assisted on the day. They were just so responsive and lovely throughout the whole process. Everything went amazingly, the rooms in the venue are stunning and everyone commented that it was the best wedding food they'd ever had!! I can't recommend this venue enough everything was flawless from start to finish. I'm so happy we picked this place! It's so luxurious, an absolutely stunning venue and grounds!

Visited Goldsborough Hall for a friends wedding and stayed overnight on the wedding day in one of the ground floor garden rooms.|Unfortunately didn't get much time to fully enjoy the room, but almost everything was wonderful (only downside for me is that the bed was a little too firm for my liking). |All of the staff were really friendly and helpful.|The food we had, both for the wedding and breakfast next day, was superb.|The hall itself is a wonderful venue, and the gardens are lovely. We were fortunate enough to be able to spend some time walking around the grounds and kitchen garden on the day after the wedding on a beautiful sunny day.

The food here is truly 5* – an excellent tasting menu, beautiful dining room, and one of the best breakfasts I’ve had. However, the accommodation is mixed. Many rooms are in a separate wing that feels more like a Premier Inn than a luxury country house. Our “luxury” room overlooked the staff car park, with stained blinds, frayed fittings, fake flowers, and an awkward bathroom design with a basic electric shower.||Take care when booking – some rooms deliver the country house feel, but others fall well short of the luxury promised on the website.||Written as an independent travel agent, sharing an honest review to help travellers book with confidence.

We spent yet another night at this lovely mansion house set in beautiful manicured gardens. We stayed in one of the dowager rooms (York) with glorious views of the garden.|The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Special thanks to Dawn and Ali in reception, Anna in the restaurant and head chef Daniel for making our stay so special.

The food, drink and staff during our afternoon tea were absolutely outstanding. Wandering the grounds and meeting the lovely Parker (the cat) was also very charming. ||My only advice would be to improve the top end of the dining room. Beyond the upper windows there is a shoddy view of what look like worn down stables which does change the ambiance slightly. Though we were seated next to beautiful windows with a view and the gentle music was lovely so this didn’t spoil it. ||The macaroon was the best I’ve ever had! Our server was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We did ask to take some bits home and we weren’t given our clotted cream for the scones which was a shame. All in all though we had a beautiful time!
