Delicious burritos and tacos. Second time this week since we ordered out the first time. I can highly recommend the burrito as well as a soft and large hard tacos. Both are good size with the tacos being smaller than the burrito as expected. Friendly staff. Atmosphere is just simple and ok, but that gives it some authenticity.

Had the combo plate with a pupusa revuelta and a steak green salsa enchilada. Both were excellent. The pupusa was crispy (I know some folks like me enjoy a softer one) but the flavor was fantastic and reminded me of my aunts. The masa was well-seasoned with a great masa to filling ratio, and it didn’t overwhelm the filling at all. The curtido had a good crunch and amount of acid. Honestly, if I’d had more room I would’ve ordered a second one. The enchilada was delicious too. The green salsa was delicious and packed with flavor, and went well with the rice and beans. We were given salsas, but I didn’t even use them. Will definitely be back!

A fellow yelper suggested I dine here since there weren't too many reviews by an All Star Elite 25 yelper. Golondrinas is in the Laurel district of Oakland. The restaurant is one of casual and comfy. There is indoor and outdoor dining available to its customers. My sister and I decided to have lunch here. It was a challenge to get to the restaurant using public transportation. Buses were running on holiday schedule since it was Juneteenth. Eats: I had the huevos rancheros with whole pinto beans and potatoes with warm flour tortillas. Absolutely delicious. Beverage choices were horchata, sandia, sangria and Jamaica. Jamaica is my drink at most Mexican restaurants. I had some Jamaica that had an artificial taste. Golondrinas' Jamaica was flavorful and refreshing. My sister had the chicken enchiladas. She said it was okay. Future visit? Yes or si for the pozole and chilaquiles.

Google
I ordered the Chile relleno plate (refried beans + flour tortillas), 1 of each the pupusas they offer (beans & cheese & pork and cheese), and 1 grilled fish taco.. 3x cans of Squirt soda. First off.. all of the above cost about $48... and i ordered it for just me. I thought man, I know im going to need a take home box for sure!... Ill tell you what, these portions are absolutely child sized! How to i eat nearly $50 of whats supposed to be considered relatively cheap foods and feel like I haven't had hardly a thing? I actually had to return the "grilled fish" taco because there was like 2 flakes of fish swimming in a sea of grilled garbage... its a FISH taco!?? I was very upset. The waitress initially took it back bc the she looked as though she agreed with me she didnt even call it the right thing setting it down she was looking at it she paused she said... "shrimp taco?".. lol thats your sign when the waitress cant even see what protein is in it... but after she took it back to the cook, she returned saying there is pieces of fish in there that supposedly amounts to 3 oz of fish she said the other junk in it make it like a fajita... i dont recall ordering a fish fajita taco, i wanted just a simple grilled fish taco... I said NO way dude.. not for the price you make us pay there isn't 3 oz of fish in there.. im thinking the contents of EVERYTHING including the fajita fillings may have been a generous 3 oz. But ZERO way there was any more than 1 oz of actual fish. I demanded a refund.. and I dont usually ever want to be that person, but considering how the rest of the stuff I ordered and how I felt like I barely ate anything, I dont want their fake flake of a fish taco anyway. I've worked in the food industry for 16+ years, there was no way there was 3 oz of fish on that taco... I wish I snapped a picture before she took it away, but I really (thought) they were going to agree that there wasnt much fish on it and just add a little more or re make it. Im genuinely not trying to get one over... i feel like i was being gaslit seriously, and they were so stubborn about it they rather refund than comprehend this. Now the only good things I have to say is, the flavor for the Chile relleno was great, & if you're going to order this i highly reccomend getting it as a la carte, because tacking on an extra $7+ to the dish for 2 tablespoons each of rice & beans its crazy work. I would have been far more content paying for 2 a la carte Chile rellenos . The papusas i could.have left off entirely.. entirely unimpressed with both the 2 kinds they had, in fact couldn't tell them apart with the lack of filling in them too. Its also wild that for the outrageously small portion sizes of this place, they dont offer free chips and salsa & salsa bar that most Mexican restaurants do.. that's a special note to the owner, because the lack of portions you give in your actual plate meals, can be compensated for with chips and salsa.. we can MAKE ourselves satisfied.. just an easy win for you to add that here. So in short.. I will def not be returning. WAY too expensive and im leaving still hungry. I can pay less & get an all-you-can-eat sushi buffet, or all-you-can-eat steak & seafood Korean BBQ just down the road!

Google
Got the chorizo sandwich, bread was incredibly fresh and fluffy! Decent americano, too. So pumped for a new Laurel business, hope it's a big success. Will come back to try the menudo and mole

Guy B.

Google
Came for breakfast, and it was fantastic. Definitely will be back for dinner. Very good food that felt like someone’s grandmother made it for me. Loved the charred jalapeños and the pickles. Had the breakfast enchilada with chorizo and the spinach scramble. So good and want to try this whole menu.

Yelp
Came here over the weekend for brunch because I was craving mexican breakfast. Food came out fast and it was delicious! I ordered the chorizo egg breakfast plate which comes with 2 sauces (one creamy and one pesto), beans, potatoes, and 3 corn tortillas. It really hit the spot! Very good value for the money as well. My husband got the pupusa plate and was also very satisfied. There is a bar in the back to self serve water, roasted peppers, salt/pepper, and pickled vegetables. Love that they give you squeeze bottles of red/green salsa for the table. Love this place!!!

Yelp
Ordered lunch (mole enchilada, pozole, carne asada burrito, and horchata) for pick up. Their website is easy to use (https://golondrinasgrill.com) and they give you nice options for each dish. Exciting that you can choose 2 different types of meat and different types of mole for the enchilada! Loved that they have a small parking lot (maybe 6-8 spaces?) They have a few seats outside, and the inside is very clean. Service was quick, and very friendly. All the food was fresh and delicious! Welcome to the neighborhood!

Yelp
This place is such a good experience every time!!! Our favorite place to go for Mexican food. Get the delicious chile relleno or anything they're offering with mole poblano - outstanding, just like La Mission in Berkeley. The staff is also super nice, I didn't catch his name but one guy behind the register is honestly really funny and playful and his humor made me laugh a lot. We love you Golondrinas!

Yelp
Date: 6/19/2025 Time: 2:15 PM 65° Sunny A fellow yelper sent me a message the other night to check out Golondrinas Mexican Grill. Thanks, Steve D. Okay, this location is in the Laurel district of Oakland. I have to admit it is quite a challenge to get to this restaurant, using public transportation from Alameda to East Oakland. Certain bus lines are operating on a Sunday schedule due to Juneteenth, a federal holiday. There is indoor and patio seating. A guesstimate seating capacity indoor is at most 30 people. The outdoor patio seating is about 15 people. Ambiance is casual and comfortable. Decor is quaint. Specialties: burritos, enchiladas, pozole, chilaquiles, kids meals, taco salad, combo plates, agua fresca (horchata, sandia, sangria and jamaica), desserts (tres leches cakes, cookies). Eats: huevos rancheros with whole pinto beans, potatoes and warm flour tortillas. At first glance I thought there was too much rancheros sauce, but the beans and tortillas were perfect sides to complement the eggs. What happened to the leftover rancheros sauce? No, I did not lick the plate. LOL. It was sopped up by the remaining flour tortillas. The rancheros sauce had a nice kick...not too spicy. Yum, yum!! My sister had the chicken enchiladas with rice and pinto beans. She said it tasted okay. Service was a tad off. The gentleman who served me forgot silverware and napkins. Minor detail. Future visit: yes, an adventure to the Laurel District to Golondrinas for the red pozole and chilaquiles. Both dishes I haven't had in almost 20 years.

Yelp
Food was very ordinary nothing wow. Service is OK. Ambience is good. Parking is available in the restaurant complex itself.

Yelp
4171 MacArthur Blvd Oakland, CA 94619 (Near Maybelle Av) Golondrinas Mexican Grill is a new restaurant in Oakland's Laurel neighborhood. I went to go try this place on a Saturday evening, about an hour before closing. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. The gentleman at the counter guided me thru the menu, and I ordered: - 2 Crispy Baja Fish Tacos - 1 Sandia drink (watermelon). This was a dine-in order, so I was given a number and I picked a table. The interior is very clean, with a modern decor. It has a cozy and warm feeling. There's also an outdoor patio with several tables. There's high chairs for the kiddies. My two Baja Fish tacos arrived, and the presentation was beautiful. The tacos were well dressed in shredded cabbage, cream and salsa. Sauces were provided. I asked for crispy tacos, and I got CRISPY. Those fresh tortillas shattered when I bit into them. The battered fish had a mild flavor, not fishy at all. Price: 2 for $12.50. The Sandia drink was very good and refreshing. It wasn't too sweet. It tasted exactly like eating a slice of watermelon. Before leaving, i ordered Nachos with carnitas and guac. It was served with peppers and sauces. It's a large order of nachos, with an even distribution of cheese and sauce. Very good! Very nice first experience, and I will return. Dress Code: Casual Support Local Business in the Eastbay!

Yelp
Excellent experience Saturday morning first time with a friend. We loved everything about the restaurant. Nice clean cozy spot, friendly owner and great food most of all. I love the chiliquelas and tamales with green sauce and my friend loved his chicken mole

Yelp
new to the neighborhood and just tried this place for the first time today. got a quesadilla and looooved it. really good salsa as well. i'll definitely be trying more of the menu.
google avatar

Jasmine L.

Yelp
Good food and also vegan options. Had the chile relleno, potato tacos, Baja taco. Everything was tasty. They even have kale and mushroom tacos, will have to try them next time.
google avatar

Yelp
I liked the Community Table, especially for the quiet off street outdoor tables and easy free parking right there, so I was happy to see the new place Didn't disappoint. Great fish tacos, dog friendly
google avatar

Belen R.

Yelp
Had the red pozole and it was super yummy. Tastes homemade. The vibe of this place is also really cute. Excited to have found this local gem.

Yelp
Just got home from eating here for a belated Father's Day dinner with my husband and in laws. Wow, what an amazing place to eat. Everything is incredibly flavorful and super fresh tasting. Not to mention all the options to pick from on the menu. I had the pupusa plate and it was to die for. Seriously so good. The customer service is super friendly and you get your food relatively quickly, too. Looking forward to coming back and trying something else on the menu. Highly recommend, you will NOT be disappointed =)

Yelp
A friend recommended this place so my husband and I went for breakfast yesterday. I had the mole poblano enchiladas with chicken and they were delicious, the sauce was perfection sweet & spicy just like I like it. My husband had the red chilaquiles and he loved them and compared them to Cuidad de Mexico chilaquiles. Spicy and crunchy! We both had the Mexican mocha and it was delicious. I can't wait to come back and bring my family. Service was quick, it was a very chill place filled with natural light and beautiful plants!
google avatar

Susana Q.

Yelp
Hands down the best home made Mexican food in the neighborhood. The service is friendly, the restaurant is quiet and has seating inside and outside. They serve a variety of authentic Mexican food, including Salvadoran pupusas. This is a family ran restaurant and you can tell they take pride in cooking for the community. We frequent here at least twice a month. I took some pics of today's meal(to go this time) if you're around stop by and give this place some love! You won't regret it. They have street and private parking.
google avatar

Juan V.

Yelp
Great food and awesome staff! Very nice place to eat in the neighborhood, better than the place that was there before
google avatar

Kate M.

Yelp
Very Meh. I went with a friend and we ordered hella food so we could try different things. It seemed like what we got did not match what the menu said. When asking the counter person about it he was dismissive/rude. The food was bland. Very, very bland. We left almost all the food, uneaten, on the table. All the counter person said, as we walked, out was a sarcastic "Thank you". Super disappointed.
google avatar

Barbra L.

Yelp
This is the best casual Mexican restaurant I know of in the East Bay, by far. There used to be so many! I don't know what happened over these last years, but I'm so glad Golondrinas Mexican Grill showed up. The food is so delicious and fresh.
google avatar

Katie F.

Yelp
Best veggie burrito I've ever had! Yummy kale and mushroom. Highly recommend! Nice folks and great indoor and outdoor seating.

Nancy S.

Yelp
Didn't take long for Golondrinas to start taking shortcuts and go downhill. Party of 3...I ordered a Grande crispy taco and it came to me 10 minutes before the other 2 meals "because it doesn't take as long to prepare". Hello? Then make it lastly so that we might all eat together! Worse, no more homemade tortilla--used a premade, boxed shell no different than Taco Bell -- no wonder it didn't take long to prepare. They had the nerve to charge $7+ for it!
google avatar

Lena S.

Yelp
We've been going to this place more and more and it's becoming our favorite neighborhood spot! I've been getting the posole and tortilla soup. My husband has been loving the tacos, and our little guy has been loving the kids' plate. The service is great. Five Stars!
google avatar

Heather D.

Yelp
Had a taco craving so had to try Golondrinas. They have a small parking area next to the building which is great. Indoor and outdoor seating available. For outdoor they do a good job in getting the seating mostly under umbrellas. The menu is pretty extensive and you order at the front counter. There is water and some pickled veg and jalapenos to self serve. I wish they also provided some napkins at the self serve table. They bring you the food and it appears to be made to order. We tried all the tacos - shrimp, fried fish, baked fish and beef. The seafood was the best since the beef was a bit dry. The have a nice red and green sauce, each very tasty and not spicy, you can add the pickled veg for some spice.
google avatar

Amelia M.

Yelp
You can't get a bad meal at this wonderful cafe! The specials all are amazing. My favorite is the tacos grandes, and the carnitas are perfect.
google avatar

Ami K.

Yelp
Our friends introduced us to this awesome gem! There's a great selection of food, dessert and drink! I had the enchiladas (green) and it was delicious. I cleaned my plate up in no time! My wife had the mole enchiladas and it was just as good! Can't wait to go back to try the other dishes!

Ed C.

Yelp
My Carnitas Burrito was perfecto! It was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, as were the rest of the ingredients. I stopped in around 7:30pm and placed my to-go order at the counter. The woman who took my order was polite and courteous. The total cost without tip was $15.77, (carnitas burrito $11.30 + guacamole $2.00 + cheese $1.00 + tax $1.47), yikes! I definitely would go back. Btw, there's also indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor space was very clean.

Peter G.

Yelp
This my go to at Golodrinas; the basic carnitas burrito with black beans and spinach tortilla. Thank you Antonio and staff.
google avatar

Jake G.

Yelp
I just had the Baja / fish tacos, and they are probably the best fish tacos I've had. They melt in your mouth! This restaurant is such a great addition to the neighborhood. Laurel is becoming a culinary sweet spot in Oakland (Sequoia Diner, Joes Modern Thai, Ghost Town, Degrees Plato, and more). Support this restaurant and neighborhood, good things are on the way! Golondrinas Mexican Grill will be in my regular rotation.
google avatar

Paul L.

Yelp
I went back again and tried a regular burrito. Despite being asked what salsa I wanted (mild, medium, or spicy), there was no salsa in it. Just the meat, rice, and beans was fairly tasteless.

David E.

Yelp
Hands-down, this is the best Mexican food in the Bay Area. The owners/chefs brought the best cuisine from Berkeley to the Laurel. The only reason I can see that it's not a 4.9 star rating for Golondrina's is that people that left great reviews but forgot to mark five stars and left the stars blank. The service and the flavors are top shelf ! - the quality of the ingredients are unsurpassed for a Mexican restaurant. I literally eat here about 10 times a week and I never get tired of it because of the range of flavors they make! - As much as I want to see lines flowing out the door, I love the fact that I can get in and get out quickly when they're not extremely busy!! I considered selling my house at one point, but I literally abandon that idea after I started eating here , yes, it's that good !! - They are making the Laurel a destination spot !!

Sadig A.

Yelp
On our lunch break from work, our coworkers decided to stop by this eatery to get a quick bite before heading back to the office. We were welcomed by one of the nicest staff members I've encountered whose smile lights up a room and was incredibly helpful in answering a few questions about their food options. I ended up ordering a chicken taco salad that I devoured as soon as we got back so I wasn't even able to get a picture of the dish, which was quite a huge portion. Upon entering we noticed that there were several other patrons and their friends and family present, so we knew this place was a local gem. The decor was modern and the cleanliness was seen everywhere. One of my coworkers ordered a flan which seemed to be made in house and was very good. I'll definitely remember this place in the future and would highly recommend it. Parking could be an issue due to the small size but street parking is also available. We all enjoyed our choice and would all highly recommend.
google avatar

Eric J.

Yelp
I'm reluctantly giving this restaurant only three stars. I ordered two baja fish tacos and they were the most bland Mexican food I've ever eaten. It was as if they forgot to add any seasoning. Even the pico de gallo was bland. The only positive thing about the tacos was that the battered fish was prepared well. The owner is very friendly and gracious and I'd like this place to succeed, so I'm willing to give it another chance.

Jewel B.

Yelp
Full plate, with a glass of Agua de Jamaica, quiet setting and a nice staff are what you'll find here
google avatar

Savannah S.

Yelp
My bf and I really enjoyed our meal here! He devoured his wet burrito and really enjoyed the red sauce they put on top. It was a generous serving. The papusa plate was very yummy as well. I tried one of each papusa they offered, pork and cheese and cheese and bean. I love a classic bean and cheese no matter what, but their pork and cheese was even better. I could actually taste the flavor of the pork. Also, the food comes out HOT, just how I like it.
google avatar

Miguel S.

Yelp
Very delicious authentic Mexican food, great ambiance with ample parking lot. The desserts are amazing. Great customer service.

Brandi M.

Yelp
Good service, friendly helpful staff, clean and yummy food, would recommend and would come back again.

Yelp
I don't know what Kate M. had but everything we had was the bomb! My mom is mexican and a harsh critic. She thought it was good which is saying something. I had the potato tacos which reminded me of how mom used to make them growing up. She had the mole guajillo with pork - the mole was delicious! I also agree Roxie on the black beans. So well seasoned and soft. The best I've had in a long time. Highly recommend as authentic and delicious.

Yelp
We were sad to lose our beloved neighborhood Communitē Table, but have been waiting with excitement for Golondrinas to open these last few weeks -- and after our first dinner there with the family we're already in love! The atmosphere was warm and friendly, and the food was fresh and delicious! One thing that I love is the large menu -- we chose a bunch of different things and they were all very good! The carnitas was perfect, we had a delicious pupusa revuelta, and the house made Sangria is incredible! We'll be back soon and often!

Vincent B.

Yelp
Had the combo plate with a pupusa revuelta and a steak green salsa enchilada. Both were excellent. The pupusa was crispy (I know some folks like me enjoy a softer one) but the flavor was fantastic and reminded me of my aunts. We were given salsas, but I didn't even use them. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Fantastic choice of mole, great green enchiladas and wonderful service in a cute setting - we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
What a treat! An amazing little treasure in the Laural district, close to the Diamond district where I grew up, hundreds of years ago! I'm a Mexican food freak so when my sister suggested this newly opened place, I was game. It was delightful to find the BEST chilie relano I have ever tasted! The generous menu had so many dishes that called to me, but I settled on the relano and a pork enchilata with again, the BEST Mexican rice ever. I would have liked the refried beans to be more mashed, but I managed to polished them off with little effort. We were too stuffed for dessert, (too many tasty chips & dip) but next time I will indulge! That will be soon.... I'm so impressed and trust me, I'm jaded!
google avatar

Pablo L.

Yelp
This new Mexican restaurant is great. Delicious food and reasonably priced. The woman at the counter who helped us was friendly and made our dinner a very pleasant experience. We will be back often!
google avatar

T S.

Yelp
Fresh food great drinks and desserts, welcoming vibe and lovely people, reasonable prices, clean and cool inside, dog friendly outdoor seating (tight space though so your pup should be well behaved)
google avatar

Dominique K.

Yelp
We're so happy with this addition to the Laurel! The folks who work here are beyond lovely and the vibe is neighborhoody and chill. They always greet my toddler with huge smiles and he absolutely loves the kids plate (truly have never seen a child eat the quantity of rice and beans that he eats there). Their outdoor seating is great and there's always a high chair available. I always get the enchiladas or the chile relleno plate and it's always delicious. My husband gets the carnitas plate and that's a great choice too.

Gabriel L.

Yelp
I've eaten here 4-5 times since they took over this spot from Communite Table. There food I've ordered arrived quickly, was well seasoned and well prepared. Prices are about average and quantity is above average. The word must be getting out about Golondrina's because the last few times I've gone, most of the tables were full. All in all, a very welcome addition to the neighborhood!
google avatar

Lindsay B.

Yelp
Great food and really wonderful folks who work there. Really excited to have this as a neighborhood spot! I have enjoyed their burritos
google avatar

Tyler H.

Yelp
My wife and I live in the neighborhood and are excited to have a new Mexican restaurant nearby. We went for lunch and dined in. It's walk up and order and they bring the food to you and they bus it when you're finished. I had chicken fajitas and my wife had a carnitas super burrito and we both thought the food was delicious and fairly priced. They did a good job with the restaurant ambiance/decor, and the service was friendly and fast. We will be back!

A K.

Yelp
PERFECT EVERYTHING! Stay open forever please we needed you here!!! The mole is vegetarian too which is rare! And I love that our dog can come with us and sit at the cute outdoor tables! Thanks :)

Sandy M.

Yelp
I had the guajillo mole enchiladas with pork and they were outstanding. My kind of mole, richly flavored but not sweet. (People who prefer mole with notes of cinnamon and unsweetened chocolate are in luck; they have poblano style here as well.) The pinto beans were perfectly cooked. The rice and beans were modest servings but the enchiladas are deceptive--they look a bit small but mine were very well stuffed with delicious carnitas, enough for me to enjoy a second meal. Service was friendly and prompt enough, though it's apparent that dishes are coming out as they are done so you and your tablemates might not all get served together. It looked like they had authentic aguas, a real plus for me though I didn't try them this time. Although I do miss Communite Table, I'm very happy to have this nice new place in the neighborhood and am looking forward to trying more dishes.

Jo-Ann D.

Yelp
John here, even though it says Jo-Ann. I was born 40 miles north of the border and then life with Mexican food. Golondrinas is not perfect. The table salsas are WAY too tame. She had the Golondrinas enchiladas. Very tasty but we both thought the veggies needed some more cook. Not "old folks" gum chewing but it was pretty crispy. I had chicken molé enchiladas - guajillo. Which I loved. The point. Not everything was to our taste. But good, home cooking with sublime flavors. Not cookie-cutter Tex-Mex, somebody knows how to cook. We loved it and we'll be back. Soon. The "Best"? There IS no best of anything, that's just Millennial crap. Good, home cooking at a fair price. Check it out. Not very hot so it's family friendly. Had half of our Tres Leches to go as I write this. As good as it gets. They have a case of cakes so somebody knows how to bake. She says I forgot to mention how good the sangria was. I don't LIKE sangria but I liked that! ....
google avatar

Tom B.

Yelp
Good food friendly staff our only downside was that it was a bit noisy. Some added wall covering would probably help. Definitely going back!
