Which Minneapolis and St. Paul Patios Are Open Right Now, Summer 2020 | Eater Twin Cities

"I found their patio is currently open with tables sometimes placed on existing patios, in parking lots, or on sidewalks; guests are asked to wear masks and all staff will be masked, with precautions in place—check with the restaurant for individual days and hours. Studies suggest lower exposure risk when dining outdoors, but that benefit depends on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines." - Joy Summers

It was our first time here, we were here for a car show. This was one of the only places nearby to get breakfast. That being said, this place was packed, and there was a waiting list. After a 15-minute wait, we were seated in no time. This place was a lot bigger on the inside than I thought. They had 2 entrances/ exits, and through each room was a dining area. I believe there is possibly another room in the back and outdoor seating. Looking around you can tell this place has been here for a while, since 1998 I believe. The lady who helped us was super nice, and she took her time with us. We were a party of 14. She wasn't rushing us with how busy they were. Our food was out in no time, and you could taste the quality of the food. I thoroughly appreciated how delicious the food was, even with all the hustle and bustle of everything. My husband and I ordered: 1. Short stack of pancakes: You have the option to have it thin and crispy. We just had it the regular way. The pancakes were fluffy and buttery. The syrup was even piping hot. 2. Hearty country breakfast: They did not skimp on the gravy with the biscuits and gravy. I'm happy I decided to go with sausage patties. It was heaven in every bite. This place was amazing, and I definitely can't wait to come back soon. There are so many more items I want to try 🤤

One of the original breakfast places in downtown Vallejo with home style cooked breakfast dishes and coffee mugs with the best sayings on it. Service is nice and quick and the best place for breakfast and brunch when if you’re in the area. Their cornbread is really good too! This particular time I went for a quick brunch with my boss and he got an omelette and I got apple sausage with bacon fried rice and 2 eggs over hard with a side of cornbread. Parking is fairly easy, there’s street parking and a paid parking lot behind it.

All I order from here is there princess CHICKEN salad. What I got was a bacon salad It cost me $40 from grub hub. I didn't order a bacon salad, I wanted a chicken salad. So I had to get me my refund, smh 🙄 I was really looking forward to this salad. Straight hot mess they gave me. Just wanted the food I ordered This isn't not what I wanted nor ordered. It looks like a hot mess and it's a bacon salad. What I ordered was a CHICKEN SALAD

Small little place, the food was Soooooo Delishious!!!! Great service from our server, food came fast. The shrimp and grits we're amazing. My daughter loved the linguiça and eggs. The potatoes are super flavorful. Will definitely come and visit here again next time I come to Vallejo to visit.

Let me preface by saying i think this place is pretty good, i only ordered the Serena omlette both times i was there, so i can't speak for the rest of the food. But, i found it to be very nice and well cooked, personally. However, i went here twice and had an issue with the service both times. The first time, they got my order wrong and gave me a meat side when i asked for a potato. Further, they did not give me the fruit bowl i ordered until i asked about it, but they were very willing to remedy the situation with no exasperation, which was appreciated. The second there was a wait to be seated, which was no problem at all. However, when we got put table, we waited another 15-20 min to have anyone acknowledge us. We weren't offered water or anything, yet the people that came in after us got tended to right away. Once we got our orders taken, it took another 20 min to come out. At this point, we were already here an hour with no food. All in all, i thought that my plate was nice so wasn't wasn't too upset. However, my partner said his plate wasn't anything spectacular, worth the long wait. So when you go, just be mindful of the above. Nothing too bad, it could have just been an off day, but it happened twice. Who knows, you might have a great experience, they are worth giving a try.

First let me say that the food was really good- it always is! The service on Sunday, June 1st was spot on! Our waitress was on the ball, super friendly, funny and beautiful!! She even let us take a souvenir. The vibe at the Good Day Cafe is always up beat... everyone comes there - I dare you to try and NOT run into someone you know - absolutely impossible!! The service is NOT always great, but our waitress was amazing!!! The hostess on the other hand was pre-occupied with something on her phone and seemed annoyed that she had to do the job she was hired for. The thing that was most off putting was the fact that I had decided early on to give our waitress a $100 tip - she earned it - but when the check came and the gratuity was already on the check, it made me feel some type of way - tips are EARNED and NOT just given. I was told that it was a service charge for a large party - not sure when a family of five became a large party - you can justify this as a "service charge" if you want to - but I call it thievery, its literally robbing your customers and hiding behind the "service charge" stance. Needless to say our waitress missed out on good money because her employer decided that they'd just add it to our check without making sure the waitress earned it. What if the waitress was horrible? Tipping is NOT mandatory, nor legally required under California Law - tipping is a VOLUNTARY reward based on the type of service received. Wait staff in California make between $16.50 - $19.57 per hour with tips boosting that hourly wage. Should just be happy that California is not like other states where the wait staff is paid $2.13 an hour with tips or $7.25 an hour. You should be ashamed of yourselves!!!! When ENTITLEMENT becomes the norm we are all in trouble!!! We won't be back... sorry not sorry. The Owner said that his staff assured him that the service charge was only for large parties of six?? We are literally a family of FIVE!!!! I could give you my receipt as well so I call BS on that - and I applaud him for defending his hostess stating that she uses a tablet at work - but I know the difference between a PHONE and a TABLET! I also know the difference between busy and frazzled and just plain annoyed and rude. Finding a loop hole describe as a "service charge" to justify stealing is horrible - Nice try though.

1st time here, just moved into the neighborhood. Ordered online, walked over for pickup. Sunny but brisk morning, actually walked past the restaurant and had to ask Google maps for directions, was expecting an awning or big sign. Cute restaurant atmosphere inside, cozy. Was greeted with a smile, even though I was dressed like a mechanic. Huge portion of hash brown potatoes, very tasty, as well as cheese omelette, and a large cup of hot coffee. All went well, food was very good. Will be back.

I said I was in a hurry. Ordered hash browns plus a biscuit and gravy. I asked to pay the bill ahead of time so I could leave when done eating. She said "everything will be a la carte is that okay?" Yes. I was given the receipt (pictured here) which didn't explain line items, just a total and a line for tip. I thought it was high at $28 but as I said I was in a hurry. Paid with generous tip. Waitress later served me a plate of hash browns and a whole order of biscuits (4 halves) and gravy. I told her I only ordered one. How is a full order a la carte? She got another waitress. Told her the same thing. They just stared at me like "And?!" Neither offered to fix the problem or my bill. So I reiterated that I only ordered one and please give the leftovers to a needy person when I leave. I took one biscuit onto my plate and left the rest. What else can a customer do at that point? Bill was already paid. The right response would have been to take away the dish, slide 1 biscuit onto a plate, and fix my bill. Instead I paid for a waitress error and they likely threw the food in the trash. Food was normal diner food. The more I think back about it, the more I feel taken advantage of. Also, how in the world is the price $28? That's wild.

Yelp
I really like this place. Food is excellent, clean and service is friendly. Only reason I did not give 5/5 was the service. I was there later in the day and I think the servers were tired. I could hear them talking long after I pushed my plate forward, I was full. I wanted to move on with my day, their shatter became annoying. Now for the main star, the food. I ordered a dish that had a biscuit, with cheese, 2 round sausages and covered in country gravy with hash browns. This was freaking delicious. Food here is always good, in my opinion. Ladies, don't let the end of shift stop you from the great service you are known for. The day for servicing customers ends when the Closed Sign goes in the window.

Yelp
This restaurant has a nice & cozy family run feeling to it as the restaurant displays beautiful handmade mosaic on the walls. The service was great, the person who was hosting my party informed us of their daily specials of cinnamon waffles in which I ended up getting because she informed me of how delicious their cinnamon waffles are & had to try it from their recommendation. I also got the hot chocolate and it was delicious! They put lots of whipped cream on the cup. The hot coco is on the creamier side and thought it was really neat that they put a drizzle of chocolate syrup and sprinkle on top. Made me feel like a little kid enjoying my drink. :)

Yelp
Today my BFF got to try this place out for her first time. I love this place and now she does too. The place is cute and cozy and we were greeted inmediately and seated inside near the front window. She got the Noah's crab sandwich and I got the Josephi's special with coffee served in a cute mug. The portions are generous too. The server we had was so nice and efficient. She always checked in on us and kept our drinks topped off. So glad that this place is still around and consistently good.

Yelp
This is my favorite breakfast spot that I have been to!! The Chicken Fried Steak is the best!! The corned beef hash is sooo crispy and delicious. Old school Diner atmosphere, with some wonderful servers taking care of everything..cannot recommend this place enough!!!

Yelp
Whoa ! Not from the are but stopped by to get some breakfast at the cafe. First of all it looks like a Vallejo staple old school but still very nice. I got the short stack but there was nothing short lol the pancakes were HUGE so come hungry or it can be shared as well. The service was amazing the waitress and staff were both really friendly!

Yelp
The is the BEST BREAKFAST I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!! Ok I know I sound like Will Ferrell in Elf when he was like "oh my god congrats on being worlds best coffee" but really the food is amazing. Its real food, like homestyle potatoes, THICK bacon, delicious eggs. I got the corned beef hash and eggs and dont have a picture to post cause I didnt put my fork down till the plate was empty it was so yum. Crispy corned beef with peppers and onions and also the biscuits taste homemade like fresh out of the oven !!!!!! Rose was a fantastic and welcoming Server as well. 10/10 ambiance and service and food.

Yelp
It's always a Good day for a Good Day Café I always get the same thing the Sonora omelette, which comes with jack, cheese, avocado, and crab incredible
google avatar

Yelp
This was another great breakfast from Good Day. Portions, taste, and even temperature from a take out order was great. I usually request that my eggs are cooked soft but I forgot when ordering however they did a great job not over handling the eggs...Thank you. My husband, who swears he only wants home-cooked meals, said that I made a good choice!!! A day off, off to a great start

Yelp
Great spot in downtown Vallejo! Breakfast served all day, so if you have the craving for crispy hash browns, eggs and linguisa or bacon or pancakes, this is the spot! Great service and super clean

Yelp
Love this little hidden gem in downtown Vallejo. A not too fancy environment but a comfortable one made even more so by the welcoming service. Food is consistently good and with some unique differences like a great rice with the eggs in lieu of potatoes. When I want to have a good solid and delicious breakfast, it is my go to spot.
google avatar

Yelp
The omelet was good. But the gravy and biscuits were out of this world. The thin pancakes were my favorite. Get the thin pancake. It got a crunch and chewy texture. I think I could have ate 5 of this pancakes. The corn bread was good. The butter for the corn bread was very good. Must try this place.
google avatar

Sanilie F.

Yelp
Came here this morning for breakfast with a friend. We chose outdoor seating as it was busy inside. Turned out to be a great choice because it was a beautiful day. I ordered the Denver omelette with country potatoes. My friend ordered the waffle plate which came with eggs and sausage patties. I really enjoyed being here. The server was great and we were seated quickly. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area again.
google avatar

Esmeralda R.

Yelp
Great local place to grab breakfast or brunch! Outdoor seating is available. Service can be a bit slow when they are busy. The fried rice is my personal favorite.

Lindsay B.

Yelp
Great brunch spot! We went with 6 people and every dish was great! I got the pesto sandwich and it was delicious! The cornbread is a must as well! The hot chocolate was so fun. I really enjoyed the food and service! Great brunch spot!

Yelp
Ate here for breakfast on Thursday, April 24, 2025. The food was really good and we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Food not prepared the way it was ordered. Service was slow and rude. I give a no star if that was possible. If your disabled veteran don't go here. They discriminated against me About Service Animals Service animals are: Dogs Any breed and any size of dog Trained to perform a task directly related to a person's disability Service animals are not: Required to be certified or go through a professional training program Required to wear a vest or other ID that indicates they're a service dog Emotional support or comfort dogs, because providing emotional support or comfort is not a task related to a person's disability

Yelp
Love it! We were seated pretty quickly and everything and everyone was nice. I got the Cristina's Country Skillet and it is always delicious! I also ordered a side of bacon fried rice which was also very tasty.

Yelp
Get the pancakes (request for thin and crispy!) It's a bit expensive, but they make up for it in the portions and extras that they give you. Sausage gravy is yum on the biscuits. Solid all around. Friendly staff.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite breakfast spot in Vallejo! It's always a great day at Good Day Cafe! I started coming here a few years ago as a bunch of Dads from my daughter's school decided to frequent local establishments for breakfast at least once a month to show our love and support for the Vallejo community. The first time I ate here for breakfast, it became my immediate favorite! The ambiance, people, service, and food are all SOLID! Shout out to Rose for always taking care of us regularly. My go to favorites are as follows: corned beef hash with fried rice and eggs, fried pork chops with fried rice and eggs, chicken fried steak, over easy eggs and potatoes, biscuits and gravy, and the peanut butter and banana waffle. Can't go wrong with any of it! I grew up here in the V, moved away, and then returned over a decade later. I never frequented local establishments until I got older because as a kid growing up in the 90s, our parents always said "we have food at home!". Now that I'm grown, I can ignore that saying because I just don't wanna cook or do dishes sometimes. LOL! Good Day Cafe is a always a winner. Whenever it's my turn to choose a breakfast spot, it's always here. If you're reading this and trying to find out where in Vallejo to have breakfast, stop reading, plug in the address on your GPS and just head on over. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
I love this place. We've been here twice. The food is excellent. Had soft to the chef and the staff. I will be definitely coming back each time. I visit Vallejo.

Yelp
Very good breakfast! Excellent coffee. Very good service. Clean, comfortable and nice. Noise level very good. Would go again.

Yelp
Clutch breakfast spot that I eat from frequently. That bacon fried rice is bomb. Only thing I've had that I didn't enjoy was the pork chops. Let the server know and they took it off my bill & the table next to me as they had the same feedback. Customer service is always on point!
google avatar

Yelp
The food here is always consistent & so delicious!! The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is quaint. A definite must visit. It will not disappoint.

Yelp
This review is way overdue. My husband and I recently had breakfast at the Good Day Cafe and, no pun intended, it really set us down a path that morning of a 'good day.' Great food, comfortable and warm atmosphere, and friendly staff that we all want to encounter to start off our day. A guaranteed excellent experience every time we come in. Good Day Cafe is located in Downtown Vallejo. There isn't a designated parking lot for this establishment, but we've never had an issue finding street parking close by. The cafe is clean and radiates a comfortable and welcoming feel upon entering. Of course this is extenuated by the friendly and upbeat staff. Our waitress this most recent visit was attentive, speedy with requests, and warm. The kitchen staff cooked us up a wonderful breakfast with little wait time though there were several diners at the time of our visit. During our most recent visit we had the Country Fred Steak & Eggs with hashbrowns and cornbread as well as the Katrina Omelet with the Bacon Friend Rice. Everything was fresh and tasty. The quality and portions were on point. Again, a delicious meal to start our day off right. I rarely find myself in this part of Vallejo, but when I do make the trip, more than likely the Good Day Cafe is part of the stop. If you're reading this because you're trying to decide whether to make the visit here, the answer is 100% "yes!"

Yelp
I was trying to do a Yelp check in to this place near my work and realized out of the handful of times that I have been here, I had yet to review it. I could swear I had but then I am getting more forgetful in my 50's....... I like the skillet with the chicken fried steak but always hold off on the gravy and get a little bit only on the side. So in picture you will see why I do that but basically although gravy is good they put way too much of it all over the delicious chicken fried steak cut up pieces, yummy country style potatoes and the usually perfectly cooked over medium eggs I order. I messed up, forgot, not their fault so with hesitation I proceeded to eat the whole thing and do a gravy scavenger hunt for potatoes, eggs, and chicken fried steak pieces. It was still great tasting but just have to ask for gravy ON THE SIDE, otherwise your just having gravy soup. Not complaining just saying.... Still ate all of it‍‍. The vibe is great they have local artists paintings on the wall of this very clean, warm, and friendly cafe. The service is always efficient and they tend to be very busy on weekends so today was nice to just walk in, still pretty busy but no wait list. They have outside seating next to the big old school street clock on sidewalk. Today I overheard one of the waitresses, (Rose), complimenting the very young and obviously new hostess on her work ethic and how "impressed I am with you, you are always looking for something productive to do and not just trying to look busy, your great, keep it up". That was great to hear from someone that seems to be a professional and very good waitress to someone starting up in this very difficult service job. I have only tried breakfast so don't know about the rest of the menu, but always busy and worth the price which is a little high.

Yelp
Came here with my mom and uncle for breakfast. Was my first time at this little gem in Vallejo. We stopped in on a Monday morning, and it was busy (so you know it's good)! Our waitress, Remy, was awesome and kept our coffees full. What we had: Uncle: thin and crispy pancakes with side of sausage Mom: Remy's short stack combo Me: Country friend steak and eggs I also had decaf coffee and uncle had regular coffee. The verdict: Everything was delish! I tried a bite of my uncle's breakfast and liked what I tasted, and he enjoyed his breakfast. Shared one of my mom's regular pancakes and that was good too. Mom also enjoyed her eggs and bacon. My breakfast was yummy. Eggs cooked a little longer than I like but i didn't specify. Only thing that needed attention was the gravy- I had to ask for that to be heated up, as it was just warm and I like it hot. If you're in the area- give Good Day Cafe a try!
google avatar

Silvia G.

Yelp
Had to give an update for pigs in a blanket for the price I would expect a side of rice or eggs. A little disappointed for sausage and 2 pancakes 20$ too much for me. Food is great service is friendly but for me prices are now too high.

Pamela H.

Yelp
This is some of the best food you will ever eat. It doesn't matter what you order. It's all delicious, whether it's the nutty tuna sandwich or a special Benedict. The only caveat is that it's so popular that you'll wait to be seated and wait a bit for your food. It's not a problem. The food always comes hot and is am
google avatar

Yelp
Always great service, and the food is good. I love being able to order my pancakes thin and crispy just the way I like them. Very nice of them to offer the kiddies a treat, which they never forget. Yes it can get crowded and long waits. Thanks for finally adding in a few tables for one or two people along the wall.

Yelp
Loved the ambience of this restaurant. The staff are all friendly and exceptionally attentive. I enjoyed the Popeye omelette and the classic Belgian waffle. Both plates were so delicious. I highly recommend this place to others.

Yelp
Came here for the first time for a breakfast date with my son. It was around 930am on Veteran's Day which explains the 20 minute wait. The inside gives warm, cozy vibes with the nook at the window you can sit while waiting. They were well staffed for a busy day. I didn't have to wait get on the waitlist. The menu had a great selection! My son got the Mickey Mouse pancakes with bacon which he loved. He loved the hot chocolate with sprinkles even more! I got the corn beef hash with eggs and bacon fried rice and cornbread. I LOVED how there's a huuuge selection of sides! Cornbread was delish, but I wasn't impressed with the corn beef and my rice was cold inside :( Also my eggs were runny and I asked for over well ;( I'll still give 3 stars because the pancakes were good, cornbread was warm and delish, and exceptional service.

Yelp
The crab omelette needs no description. Worth every bite. Service is pretty outstanding as well.

Yelp
A cute mom and pop spot with good food, great customer service and nice size portions.

Yelp
Is an omlette worth $25? When it has fresh crab and avocado the answer is YES! Bacon fried rice is a unique side option. We stopped through on a road trip and are glad we did. No pictures since we ate the yummy food so quickly. 4 stars instead of 5 for the high prices.
google avatar

Yelp
The ambiance and the service here is awesome the servers here are nice. My family and I live the food here. Waffles are delicious in the tuna sandwich is fantastic! I highly recommend coming here.

Yelp
Family friendly, home style good food. Arrived early Sunday morning around 7:45am. A few people were already seated. Waitress was very attentive. We were seated right away. I ordered hot cocoa! I even loved the mug. I ordered eggs, hash browns and toast. I ordered a bacon fried rice order to go. My friend ordered a waffle, eggs and sausage. Everything was delicious. As we were enjoying our breakfast. It slowly became pleasantly crowded. It definitely appears to be the place to be on Sunday morning for breakfast. I definitely saw quite a few things on the menu I have to come back to try. Can't wait to try lunch. There's so many interesting options. I only went with a simple breakfast because I've been wanting that.

Jessicca B.

Yelp
Good day cafe has some really good breakfast. I love having the choice to sit inside or outside. Great breakfast and lunches. Great service too but when it's busy it kind of sucks because you are constantly asking for things, a refill, napkins, the check...
google avatar

Dulce B.

Yelp
Very friendly staff. Can't complain about the service. The only thing I would say it was a little warm inside. But that's it. The food was bomb. They even gave my son a toy after. I had Cristina's country skillet with cooked hard potatoes and a biscuit with honey butter. Hella good. My son had the bacon waffle. That was delicious and the bacon fried rice was yummy too.
google avatar

Yelp
I love ordering take out here. The turkey club and sweet potato fries are my go to. Parking downtown is easy and the counter service workers are friendly. This is my go to spot for lunch during the week.

Yelp
I feel bad about only giving 3 stars but there were some hits and some misses. Our brunch was fine but not great. Maybe we just came at an off time or didn't order the right things. SERVICE: 5 stars for servers who were attentive and nice. Kitchen was 1.5 stars for poor timing and inconsistent quality (3 of us ate most of our toast/bread before our meals arrived while my MIL was 5 minutes into her waffle). I even heard the servers telling the kitchen to give them the spam and eggs when the rest of us already had our plates. FOOD: 3 stars since it was a mix. Hash browns were crispy and very good. Garden omelette was stiff (no fluff) with unseasoned veggies. Spam and eggs with cornbread: spam was dry/too salty and cornbread tasted like it was from a box. Coffee was good. Waffle with fruit was good. Fried pork chop (which was recommended) was tough. Fried rice was good SETTING: 3 stars. Easy street parking. Clean and comfortable with indoor or outdoor options. It's an eclectic mix of styles but it doesn't seem intentionally so. Could use some updating. Overall, there are so many options on the menu (ideally a nice idea), but the kitchen clearly couldn't execute all of them well. I'd rather have fewer options with all of them tasting great. There are plenty of people who are in love with this place but I don't plan to come back.

I noticed that there were no reviews for the Super Burrito, so I decided to write one. I chose the carnitas filling and the burrito was absolutely delicious with avocado and all the typical ingredients you'd expect in a super burrito. I would rate this burrito a 9 out of 10.

Yelp
I've been to good Day Café a few times. For their omelettes they cook the egg and then they just fold the stuff that you want inside it. I hate it when they are cooked that way. Obviously I did request that the items be cooked into the egg omelette. It's a simple fix, but you gotta make sure you ask for it or you might be disappointed with your omelette. They have outdoor seating which is nice. But there's always that issue that I think they forget their people outside lol. I was always looking for coffee because it didn't come easy. Lol I had a breakfast special. It was a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich served on waffle. It worked great for me because I just took the waffle off and dipped it in syrup and I had sweet and savory breakfast. This is a great place and a small business in Vallejo and you should go support them

Yelp
Great hang over food LOL! My mom wanted to get breakfast so we went to try out this place! Pretty large menu and great choices for as a breakfast diner. The fried rice option was interesting to me so I had to order it and I was not disappointed! My only complaint with my order of chicken fried steak and eggs was that the gravy was a little salty. Other than that, the waitresses were very attentive, the food was satifying, and the coffee did the job! Come here for a large serving of breakfast!
