Go! Just go. Grab a delicious pastry, a to-go-meal, or THE BEST snickerdoodle your mouth has ever been blessed to encounter! The cooking classes are so fun! I feel competent to replicate Chef Mary's fabulous meatballs, but i can never match her style. Bring wine!

Google
Amazing little shop with a fun take on kolaches - which are outstanding. They also have a grab and go section perfect for those busy times. Totally recommend the Chonky Boy, Okie Dokie Artichokie, Whole Enchilada, Elote, and the Cha Cha Cha, but they are fabulous. Get there early before they are gone!

We had high expectations due to multiple 5-star reviews. We mostly tried several of the savory ones and one sweet variety to go…we heated them up in the microwave at our hotel. All were delicious and did not disappoint. Here’s another 5-star for y’all.

Google
Good Dough has some serious good dough. It’s not just a clever name! So many delicious kolaches both savory and sweet to choose from. We decided to get a variety of flavors and everything was delicious. I especially enjoyed the ‘everything but the bagel’ and ‘pineapple upside down’ and my husband really liked the ‘Chris P. Bacon’ (get it?). Service was quick and they also have a fridge with various grab and go meals and sides. I was really tempted by the giant cookies and will be trying one on our next visit. Great little shop to grab some tasty pastries in the morning!

Google
Cute little bakery with some unique baked goods and breakfast options. The poppy seed Kolache was fantastic, my breakfast taco pastry was okay, but won’t try it again. My GF did enjoy the cream cheese with caramel swirl and maple bacon. Overall a great place to try and return to.

This was our last stop on the way out of town but certainly will be a must stop for future visits to the island. We tried the savory kolaches and they were delicious and stuffed. Also, loved their selection of prepared goods - we will have to remember that for the beach or taking back to our rental. We did grab a chicken salad and the dill pickle pimento cheese to take back home - both of which were freah and delicious. I picked my mom up a chocolate chip scone which was huge! Such a nice change of pace from all the seafood we were enjoying.

Google
Good Dough Kolache Bakery has some seriously amazing kolaches. Every time I am near the bakery I have to stop in and grab a few. There are so many to pick from that are just delicious. My husband loves the peach flavored ones or the apple pie one, while I like the savory ones with egg or spinach and artichoke. You will not find kolaches this good anywhere else. If your there also check out the to go items in the fridge that you can cook for lunch or dinner. Those are yummy too!

Google
We tried dessert first; chocolate mousse and the ginger bread man cookie. They were all right but nothing spectacular. What does stand out are the kolaches. They were pretty fantastic! (So good I forgot to take pics). The servers both times offered their suggestions based on their preferences. The place is small with only takeout but it’s worth checking it out. Take a look at the awards !!! We will definitely be back.

Yelp
So delicious! We grab breakfast here every time we're on the island. The hardest part is choosing what we are going to get because the selection is always amazing.

Yelp
We recently visited Good Dough and had a great experience! The atmosphere was super cute and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in. I tried the Georgia On My Mind kolache, which was filled with peaches and topped with a bourbon glaze--it was a perfect mix of sweet and rich, and the flavor combo definitely lived up to the name. We also had the ChaCha Cha, which had a fun birthday cake vibe--sweet, colorful, and nostalgic in the best way. To top it off, we grabbed a classic chocolate chip cookie, which was soft, buttery, and just the right amount of gooey. Everything we tried was fresh and delicious. We'll definitely be back to try more!

Yelp
Talk about some good food. This place is THE kolache place. Hands down best I've ever had. I want to go every day if I could. So many unique flavors and each one just as tasty as the last. I couldn't recommend this more.
google avatar

Yelp
Small selection of bakery items. No donuts. I table of 8 seating. No coffee! Yikes! Kolaches we're jus ok.

Yelp
Wow- this was the best in all of Texas! I am a northerner and have been traumatized with mystery meat donuts (aka kolaches) in the past and have always had a fear of them. However, Chef Mary and her team washed away my PTSD with sprinkled cake flavored kolaches! I am so #blessed!

Yelp
Yummy! This cute little spot in midtown Galveston offers a delicious variety of kolaches. I enjoyed trying the unique flavors that ranged from sweet and fruity to meaty and savory. I couldn't pick my favorite, but I was lucky enough to try the brisket kolache. I also tried the Cherry with cream cheese, BOI, Lumberjack, Peach, and Horchata. I would gladly come back for seconds. The service was friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Went for breakfast but I was not impressed. I have had great kolaches and with the reviews being 5 Stars we tried it and were disappointed. They seem to have other options in the fridge for picnics and such but as far as kolaches go, I don't feel they are the best that I have had. Dough seemed undercooked especially for the apply pie one. I am all about small businesses so just tweak a little here and there striving to be the best.

Lisa R.

Yelp
Anytime I go, I'm greeted immediately by very friendly staff. They always take the time to explain any new menu offerings. Everything I have had here is delicious! You can't go wrong with any choice.

Linda B.

Yelp
I have to say the Maple Bacon, Blueberry or Apple just call my name when I walk in the door...wait the sausage gravy too. BEST kolaches I have ever had.

Yelp
I had no idea the owner had so many accolades when we picked this place.....it was just something along the way before we got on our cruise. I have never had such scrumptious kolaches. I think we tried almost all of them. The dough is definitely more than good it's great! The savory stuffed ones were all juicy and delicious, I liked the Cuban the most. The sweet ones were also very delicious, I enjoyed the Cherry and cheese one. The kids got the birthday cake but it was a bit too sweet and my daughter didn't like the "tang". The taco one was also good. Definitely worth bringing home a dozen or so! They also had frozen goods that all looked good.

Yelp
This was such a great find and highly recommend. The kolaches were incredible and the chocolate chip cookie was absolutely delicious! Service was phenomenal and it has the sweetest backstory. Definitely worth going to!

Yelp
We were in Galveston for the day and saw this place listed on Yelp, so we thought we would stop by. Very cute shop with very friendly staff. We ended up picking up quite a few baked goods. They were all delicious. This little shop also offers cooking classes if anyone is interested. Super cute concept and atmosphere. Definitely recommend

Jullian R.

Yelp
Great food! We tried a couple kolaches and they were all good. The biscuits and gravy kolache was a personal favorite for a great breakfast kolache. Prices are very reasonable as well. Definitely try this local spot in Galveston, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
amazing people & food they know what they are doing when it comes to baking, a must have if you are looking for breakfast

Yelp
If you want to come here for some of their specialty kolaches, you'll find limited parking and the location is easy to drive by as there is not much of a sign to see. However, once inside the small space you'll be impressed with how well it is arranged. There's actually a lot more to see here than their very unique take on their kolaches. I was surprised to see that they have five refrigerated/freezer doors of chef prepared meals to go along with some specialty dips. They also sell cupcakes, scones, dinner rolls and the biggest chocolate chip cookie I've ever seen. I was glad to see that you can even get a cuppa coffee with your purchase. I was surprised as I checked out with a credit card that I was not greeted with the usual tip screen that has become the norm. They also offer catering for weddings and have a tasting room off to the side for potential customers. The quality of the goods and the service found here is well worth seeking out and worthy of five stars.

Yelp
I came here an hour after opening today to take advantage of the Galveston Restaurant Week offer (3 sweet and 3 savory kolaches for $15). The kolaches were very good! My favorites were the fungus among us and okie dokie artichoke. The lady at the counter was nice and helped me out with some recommendations. The inside is cute, but didn't get to look around too much. Overall, I will be back!

Yelp
Came here randomly because the other donut spot I liked was closed and I do not regret it!! It was a super cute place and it was slow on a Wednesday afternoon lol. They were also helpful with me picking out foods. Although it definitely wasn't the typical donuts I was looking for, Especially as someone who is not a deserts person, I love the variety of options! I ordered the boudain and cheese dough, a blueberry muffin, and a pumpkin spice cake ball. The boudain and cheese was delicious and the dough?? Really is good! lol. No but really the name is fitting because that was the star of the show. I am definitely long to try more of those options. The blueberry muffin was pretty good. I think it would've tasted better a bit warmed and it was a bit messy to eat though lo. The pumpkin cake ball tasted JUST like pumpkin pie! So it eas good if you're into that flavor lol
google avatar

Yelp
Good dough? Great dough. The best dough. Placed an order over the phone for pickup and the lady who helped me was so friendly. For savory we tried the spinach & artichoke, mushroom cream cheese, pizza, and lumberjack kolaches. Bourbon peach and pineapple upside down cake were our sweet options. SOO good!! Perfectly soft and pillowy dough with flavorful ingredients. I wish I lived nearby so that I could eat these regularly!

Yelp
Yum yum!! We stopped in mid-morning on New Year's Day expecting the kolache selection to be pretty minimal. Our suspicions were correct but it worked out in our favor! I opted for the spinach artichoke kolache, which is not a combo I'd normally select -- and it was DELICIOUS. Super flavorful, perfect filling to bread ratio. My husband ordered the birthday kolache, which was also a hit! Unable to stop ourselves from perusing the pastry case, we also tried the caramel banana pudding and confetti crumb cake. Both were great! We will absolutely be back next time we're in town -- we'll just have to force ourselves out of bed a wee bit earlier to try the Reggy and Chonky Boy. Can't wait!
google avatar

Mariana S.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I shared an array of kolaches. For sweet kolaches we got apricot and salted caramel and for savory we got ham and cheese, chonky boy (mexican ground meat), and the Reggie (sausage and gravy). I did not like the dough or the fillings in any of the kolaches. I don't claim to be a kolache expert but I've never encountered this type of dough on any kolaches I've ever eaten- the texture was similar to canned biscuits. It was thick and dry and flavorless. The meat ones were filled with minced meat and it made the texture not enjoyable. The gravy in the Reggie was soaked up and there was no gravy in the filling to be found. Disappointed but was worth the try.

Yelp
Outstanding kolaches. Wide variety of offerings. Would love to keep this place a secret, but they deserve all the success they can handle.

Yelp
Loved the pimento cheese and pastries. Small place. Almost missed it! They had lots of humus choices too
google avatar

Zahrah E.

Yelp
Love love love this place. I have gone in for myself and walk away with at least three kolaches because I just can't decide and they're all delicious! I've also bought trays for teacher appreciation, work breakfasts, birthdays, and basically any time there's a breakfast party. The team does a great job of making sure you have what you need to make your day a little tastier.

Lisa A.

Yelp
What a secret jewel this is for kolaches and baked goods. We love going to them every time we are in Galveston. Definitely worth your time to seek out. Sometimes we stop a second time on our way back to Dallas and fill the car with these amazing treats!
google avatar

Bec S.

Yelp
Choices were good. Bought red pepper hummus and Grandmas pimento cheese which was very different than other places and tasty. They had lots of kolaches to choose from. It is off Broadway several blocks towards the Seawall.

Cheyenne N.

Yelp
Delicious and fun flavors. We are visiting from Oklahoma and so glad we found this shop!

Yelp
This bakery has some very interesting bakery, refrigerator & freezer items. I'm so excited to taste everything I purchased. I love to find little gem spots like this. I'll return for some more different items that I want to try. The service was outstanding. She was very helpful & friendly. The store is clean & organized.

Yelp
I found this place on yelp and it had great reviews. Plus I like trying things that I normally don't get back home (in S. Dakota). Husband was cranky I wanted to stop for pastries, he wanted donuts. But I convinced him to drop me off at the door then we could go get donuts down the road. I went in by myself and got 5 different Kolach options. Only 3 shown in photo cuz I took picture later. Service was great, he was very patient with a New York cpl before me who about bought everything they had, glad they saved me some! The owner also stopped in too and gave them recommendations on where to stop in Lake Charles on their journey home. She was super nice and loved their cute little store. Oh and if you are curious, we did not get donuts. Shared the blueberry kolash in the car and the hubs fell in love...we also shared a raspberry one later. (I also got apricot, strawberry, and one with bourbon & fruit..i can't remember the names of them). They aren't hard and dried out, they tasted fresh and dough was so good!! 10 out of 10! Hubs wants to stop again before we leave town for a dozen more to bring back to family! The clerk did tell me I could refrigerate up to a week for freshness. Guess I'm going to need some plastic containers later!

Yelp
Good Dough Kolache makes the drive down to Texas City worth it alone! I wish I had tried this place sooner! The shop is rather small and quaint, but you're immediately hit with that freshly baked dough smell as soon as you walk in. I believe the place is owned by the local legend, Chef Mary Bass. And I love how she helps out the local culinary students by having them work in her kolache shop for experience. As far as kolache flavors go, they rotate daily depending on what's in season. But we honestly couldn't decide what to get, so we literally got 1 of each flavor on a nice Sat morning. I believe we got 18 different kolaches for around $57 ish. All the kolaches are big, and easily like 4-5 bites each. There wasn't a single kolache we didn't love so honestly try them all! Our most notable favorites were "The sweet piggy," "The Mr. Mary's," "Georgia on my Mind," "The Fancy Nancy," and "The Bum Bum." Everything here is worth the try, and you can tell how much love they put into their kolaches. The only thing else that makes it better is washing it down with a good cup of coffee, or my personal favorite, chocolate milk. Enjoy!

Yelp
Stopped in to this small bakery for a breakfast on the way out of town after thanksgiving. Tried a variety of their kolaches ranging from their Bum Bum (pizza) to the Gobble Gobble (Turkey and dressing) to the Chonky Boi (taco) to the Everything and Artichoke dip. We loved trying the different types. The person working did a good job helping make sure I knew which were which in the box. Only thing that could have been better was that they do need to be heated and they used a microwave, which didn't do the greatest job and made the everything and artichoke dip a little soggy.

Yelp
Both food & service is great! Personal fav- the Drizz or the everything bagel :)) so yummy!
google avatar

Nicole F.

Yelp
I love their kolaches, they've created the most creative and interesting flavors that I've seen! I've tried quite a few of them already, some that I really liked were the philly cheesesteak and the pumpkin kolaches. I've included a picture of what was available one day that I went. I think their menu changes everyday depending on what's in season, so take note of that. One thing I would recommend is to microwave them for 15-20 seconds before eating because it makes them even better! When I went yesterday at noon time, there were still so many available, so give them more business!
google avatar

Sam M.

Yelp
Hard to choose, but we ended up picking The Drizz and Okie Dokie Artichoke. Both delicious. Makes me want to try them all.. though I would definitely go back for the two we just had.
google avatar

Kristin E.

Yelp
The service was amazing we got in about 1-2 hours before they closed, so our selection was limited. I strongly recommend the coffee cake. I also tried the birthday kolache and the everything kolache, both were decent the center is very flavorful to make up for the heavily breaded kolaches. I tried the Nutella scone and would not get it again, would rather not have my Nutella cooked away. The cake balls are decent if you want more flavor in your chocolate over the cake.

Yelp
March 31, 2021 Came in on the way to Webster from Galveston. Chef Mary Bass owns this location of sweet and savory's...she has culinary students and graduates running it. I've never been to 6th street here in Texas City... cute and by the looks of it... up and coming. Today, I got there at 11:40am and they didn't have a lot of product left but I managed to snag 2; the artichoke one "okie dokie" and the banana fosters "bananas on the bayou" one. Really wanted a traditional one...sausage, cheese, etc...but, you gotta come EARLY for those. Both were decadent...more like a dessert pastry...didn't feel like I was eating kolaches. Yelp
great kolaches and service. This trip was my second to Good Dough and there will be many more.

Yelp
Went here on this past Saturday morning, it was a tuck away gem on 39th. I wanted to try somewhere different. I enjoyed the different pastries/donuts they offered. I had the Caramel apple pie, apricot, sausage/maple bacon, pineapple upside, and the even had a pizza one. My family review it being good, it's sweet bread so be aware. With cream cheese if you're a fan. All homemade! They even have meal prepping meals too. I recommend this place but be aware they don't have any deals if you get six or more (dozen/half dozen) it'll add up for sure. Also it's hard to tell which one you have as when it's place in the box, you have to remember what you purchase as it is no label on the box. Overall, great staff, very friendly. Recommend!

Amber P.

Yelp
Delicious kolaches on the island. Must visit!!! Try the Everything But The. My kids love the sweet ones, cherry racer and strawberry fields
google avatar

Kate O.

Yelp
Melt in your mouth delicious. Would go back to Galveston just to go here. An unassuming store front and interior but will blow you away with flavor and deliciousness.

Ty S.

Yelp
Fun selection of kolaches. The pastry portion was soft but cooked through well, and the flavors were great. More appealing options than we could try in one visit.
google avatar

Todd D.

Yelp
Cute center service location with delicious kolaches! Ok so what's a Kolache? It's sort of a little pastry bun that can be filled with all kinds of stuff. A lot of the time they are savory - frequently filled with sausage. This bakery offered both sweet and savory options, so I decided these would be my donut substitute. :) I got a pecan pie and a bananas foster - or as they called them, a "Oh Sweet Jesus" and a "Bananas on the Bayou". All the flavor names were great! The pecan pie was my favorite - like a little slice of grandma's home made pie. The bananas foster was also tasty but it had a cream cheese base which is just not my jam (my fault - shoulda asked!). The shop is small and shares space with another baker/caterer. Very cute, no frills, but they know what they're doing. If you want to try a south texas treat, make this your Kolache stop!
google avatar

Roy B.

Yelp
Stopped by to grab a few kolaches this morning. I told the girl of the issues with Yelp showing the old location photo and giving directions to the old Texas City location. She seemed almost put out by the comment. She said she didn't know who was in charge of that. I smiled and said, "well I'm sure Mary would know". Then she said she would mention it to her. We ordered 3. She threw them in the bag and put them on the counter. I asked if she was going to heat them up. She said they were still warm. We get out to eat them in the car and my son said these are just okay. It would have been better if it was warmed up. Lol. Really??? All in all not a great experience and the food was way overpriced. I normally don't write these kind of reviews but this type of customer service needs correction.

Rodger D.

Yelp
Honestly there was a big build-up for this place and I was really letdown. I tried 4 different kolaches and only one was slightly up to par. I give a tepid positive to the brisket kolache. I has sausage & bacon, blueberry & ham/cheese - I would not buy them again. There really are a lot better options on the Island.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
If you could scratch and sniff the picture you would be hooked. Awesome, light flaky crust with unique flavor combinations. These aren't your average kolaches.

Abril C.

Yelp
All of the employees know me by my name. their service is EXCELLENT The food is AMAZING and its not just your ordinary kolache okay. you can get sweet, you can get savory, and some flavours rotate throughout the month. ive never had a bad one. Mary herself is amazing and kind and beautiful and smart. can i be like her when i grow up?
google avatar

Christine C.

Yelp
I love kolaches. They're a whole meal in your hand. This place is awesome! I was in Galveston recently just to relax and go to the beach. I was looking for a bakery to go and pick up some goods because I wasn't in the mood to go to a café and be served. I found this placed based off of reviews and when I walked in, I was taken over by all the different flavor combinations (and the cute names) and I ended up getting a dozen along with a birthday kolache since there was a deal going on. I will be back!

Jeff S.

Yelp
The food and service was outstanding. The desserts were outstanding and the meals to go were excellent. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.
