I've been here a few times now, and there's much to appreciate. The hot tea is a nice offering, I take mine with cream, it's delicious. The cheese grits are what keep me coming back. Being able to substitute the GF pancake for bread you can't eat is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who must eat GF. Usually you have to swap out for a subpar product and pay more for it in the process. This is not that type of substitution, the pancake is fluffy and delicious. Well done there, that pancake, the grits and tea are appealing enough to keep me coming back occasionally even if I never order anything different.
However, I would like to order something different now. The basic breakfast is just that, pretty basic. The eggs and hash browns weren't seasoned that I could tell. And despite having been there at least three times, I've only ever been able to order breakfast. There's no GF bread substitute for me to try a sandwich for lunch. I've asked and getting that as an option doesn't seem to be a priority for anyone there.
So, until that happens, I suppose I'll continue only going every 6-8 months (despite moving much closer and it being extremely convenient for me now), only when I get the craving for breakfast food, cheese grits and a pancake. Maybe someday they'll throw the GF community a bone with some lunch and sandwich options. Most other places in town, Honest Abe's, HF Crave, The Eatery, etc. all have GF bread or burger bun substitutions, even fast food chains, like Firehouse Subs has a GF sub, it can be done well, I guess it just depends on how welcoming you want to be to a big segment of your clientele.
