Good Fortune Club Wimbledon - Review - Wimbledon - London - The Infatuation

"If you’re not prone to noise-induced migraines, Good Fortune Club with their all-day dim sum menu is a certified good time. Rowdy after-work groups commandeer big round tables and compete to be the loudest in the room. Friendly servers zoom around scooping egg fried rice directly into diners' bowls. And if they so much as overhear someone mention a birthday, they’ll drop off some complimentary banana fritters with a single candle poking out and an X Factor-worthy singalong from any staff members in the vicinity. This heaving Cantonese spot is so chaotically fun that even the poshest Wimbledon Village local might accidentally let out a cackle. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak photo credit: Chris Rodgers Wilson photo credit: Chris Rodgers Wilson Pause Unmute So a quiet catch-up isn’t the objective here. It’s all about covering your table with as many bamboo steamers as possible (since their steamed section is the highlight). And with a big variation—from beef meatballs to springy truffle prawn dumplings—you could easily make an entire meal out of just dim sum. Just bring your friends (bonus points if they refuse to conform to using inside voices) to help you try more things. Food Rundown Scallop & Prawn Dumplings Although we love the meaty scallop on top, this one could use some help from the spicy dipping sauce, so get involved with that. photo credit: Chris Rodgers Wilson Prawn, Crab & Spinach Dumpling One of our favourite dumplings, it’s packed to the point of bursting, and the crab is sweet and delicate. photo credit: Chris Rodgers Wilson Truffle Prawn Dumplings These aren’t always on the menu, but when they are, you should definitely order them. The truffle adds a subtle earthy touch to liven up a traditional prawn dumpling. We could eat a couple of rounds of this alone. photo credit: Chris Rodgers Wilson Fresh Lobster Baked With Ginger & Spring Onion Noodles If you’re celebrating, get this showstopping main. It isn’t always available, so you’ll need 48 hours notice to secure one. Getting the lobster out from the shell can get a bit messy, but the soft meat rewards your troubles. The noodles are saucy, thin, and perfectly satisfying without being too heavy. photo credit: Chris Rodgers Wilson" - Rianne Shlebak

Came for a work lunch. Fabulous food. Massive portions. I had the chow mein which was great so tasty and excellently cooked veg. The table next to us were having the tofu in sichaun chili sauce and I had to order it. We also had crispy spring rolls, nice and fresh. The rose we had was lovely too and the staff were attentive and filled our glasses. There was a younger waiter who was very helpful with options. Did feel watched a little, not sure if it was because it just wasn’t that busy. Didn’t use the toilets but from the cleanliness and decor of the restaurant I bet they’re great.

Loved it here! The food was fantastic, tasted very fresh and good quality, probably one of the best Chinese I’ve had! Tasted healthier and I loved the set menu, so filling and amazing options. The service was also excellent- would highly recommend this restaurant.

We booked a table for 8pm and were seated promptly. After placing our order, the prawn crackers and drinks were brought over, although one of the drinks was incorrect. At the time, the back area was fairly quiet, with only three occupied tables. Unfortunately, the service quickly went downhill. Despite being among the earlier tables, we ended up waiting over an hour and 20 minutes for our food, while every other table that arrived after us was served well before. We had to follow up on our order three times, and it was disappointing that no staff member acknowledged the delay or made any effort to update us or apologise. Eventually, I said we’d be leaving if the food didn’t arrive within five minutes, only then did it finally appear. When it did, it was underwhelming. The special fried rice was bland, and the sweet and sour pork had an overpowering sauce that didn’t quite hit the mark. When the bill came, a service charge had been added—under the circumstances, we felt this was not justified and asked for it to be removed. Sadly, the overall experience left a lot to be desired, and we won’t be returning. There are many better Chinese restaurants we’d happily visit instead.

It was a New Year's Day and we fancied a change from turkey and trimmings. Went for Dim Sum and noodle soup.... Start on a positive note for this new restaurant in Wimbledon Village. Brightly lit, friendly and attentive staff in fresh, clean environment. More good news the Rost Duck Noodle Soup was a winner. Lots of meat and noodles, plenty of taste. Just right for a cold winter night. Just a shame that half of the dim sum we order was gradually reported back to us (yep after 3 times) as not available, the poor waitress had to keep apologising. Not fried Dim Sum, no bau buns, no squid. However, the steamed selections we had left was fine. Unfortunately the Malay noodle we chose to replace our order with were not that good. Over spiced with chilli to hide the taste of stale oil. Again, it was New Year's Day. Perhaps the chef was off, perhaps they had no deliveries. So will give them the benefit and will try again. If no other reason than the excellent noodle soup.

We arrived at this restaurant with high expectations, looking forward to a pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, things got off to a rocky start. Upon arrival, we waited at the entrance for a good ten minutes before anyone greeted us or acknowledged our reservation. Once seated, it took another 10–15 minutes before a server came to take our order. We tried to catch the attention of a couple of waitstaff as they passed by, but our attempts were ignored. To their credit, the food arrived very quickly after we ordered. However, the order was incorrect, and a second round of dishes we had requested never showed up. As for the food itself, it was just average—nothing particularly memorable. The restaurant felt overcrowded and quite noisy, with the clatter of dishes and the bustle of cleaning at the entrance creating a somewhat chaotic atmosphere. It didn’t contribute to a relaxing dining experience. Overall, the combination of inattentive service, average food, and a noisy setting left us disappointed. Unfortunately, I don’t see myself returning anytime soon.

The food was great, tasted very fresh,  probably one of the best Chinese in London. The venue  is beautifully decorated and spacious. The food came very quickly. The standout dishes for us were the cumin lamb chops and dimsums, packed with flavour. The green tea was delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The service was excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
