I had an unfortunate experience with a waiter named Andre. I sat at a handicap-accessible table due to a hip disability related to my military service. My son and I were also there under very difficult circumstances, as we were in town for the funeral of his father.
Andre approached us in a rude and dismissive manner, stating that we needed to check in with the host, which I understand. However, he went further and made an unnecessary remark about the table being a handicap table, delivered in a tone that felt judgmental and derogatory — as if assuming I did not have a disability simply because it was not visibly obvious. That interaction felt discriminatory and deeply inappropriate.
I did speak with the manager afterward, and I want to acknowledge that the manager and the rest of the staff were respectful, understanding, and accommodating. They handled the situation professionally, and I appreciate their response. My concern and star rating is specifically with Andre’s conduct, which lacked sensitivity, awareness, and basic respect and human kindness.
