"Good Luck helped revitalize the Rochester cocktail and dining scene since opening its doors in 2008. It also showed the developer market in town that the old warehouse and manufacturing buildings that pepper NOTA could be utilized for businesses beyond the printmakers, craft studios, and bohemian shops that Village Gate and the Anderson Arts Building had become known for. Rochesterians have been enjoying its upscale, family style American cuisine in the lively, well-designed industrial space, and even Esquire Magazine took notice of their mixology expertise by naming Good Luck one of the [nation’s top 18 bars for 2016](http://www.esquire.com/food-drink/bars/a44780/best-bars-in-america/). There’s simply no weak link in their menu, but you can’t go wrong with a Sazerac, followed by the Good Luck Burger (an experience) and the Rye Rigatoni (hello, rabbit ragú) to share." - Truth Collective

One of my favorite places when visiting Rochester. Seasonal menu, fresh and delicious. Not afraid of creating new dishes or revamping classic and gotta say they do it quite well. One of the best cocktail menus too! And the service? Always great. Did I expect the lamb tagine to be a shank? Yes. But was I disappointed? Only a little bit because every spoonful of the lamb and coscous was so good.

Google
Overrated, bad service, over priced. The reviews of this place makes it seem like the next Michelin restaurant. Unfortunately it is very much overrated. Parking is difficult already to start. Atmosphere overall is ok and it does have ok decor, but unfortunately that's about all this place offers For whatever reason the staff seems to be intentionally unfriendly or aloof, and on top of that they were very quiet, almost difficult to hear. This is a loud place so it's quite bad from a service point of view. Food is extremely expensive as one can see. Despite the high price, the food isn't good and portion sizes are even worse. The lamb dish was super small and you can see from the picture. Cost of a whooping $34 and the dish barely had any lamb! Maybe a bite or two! The rest is just sauce and Couscous, which are not expensive. So what is with the exorbent price??? The gnoki dish is marginally better as it had more than a few bites of short ribs. Still the portion size is small and overall it's pretty mediocre for the price. Worst part is we were told by the staff that the portion size for one dish is enough for two people, which was patently untrue... Somehow they managed to mess up green tea ☕! It tastes very strange. It almost had a bitter taste to it and the glass was too small for the tea bag. This restaurant is only good in terms of vibes and atmosphere, and that's it. Very sad! We had to go to another restaurant afterwards.

Had zero expectations (was there for a work trip) and was absolutely surprised. I only took pics of the pizza, but great dishes all around and excellent cocktails. The pizza was a Roman style, leaning more toward a focaccia. Very good bake, the undercarriage was crisp along with the edges, very nice crumb, simple and and clean sauce, high quality cheese. The cheese was not just mozzarella, it was mixed with a fontina or blue cheese which gave it a bit of a funky flavor, which wasn’t my fav but still good and unique. Def worth a visit here

Google
This was our first time visiting Good Luck! The staff were very friendly and attentive. We ordered a beer and a cocktail which were both very good. For food, we had a mushroom ragu dish which was creamy and well seasoned. It was a little more tangy than we would have liked. For entree, we shared a halibut dish. The meat was cooked perfectly and the sauce was good as well. Our only complaint is that while we were told the dishes tend to be bigger since they were meant to be shared, both the pasta and the fish were quite small. When sharing among two people, we each got only a few bites of each dish. We felt like for the price, the portions could have been a little more generous. But overall, we enjoyed the dinner.

Great atmosphere! Friendly service! A bit pricey! Food ordered (most favorite to least favorite): red lentil curry > garganelli > charred broccoli caesar > spiced pork meatballs Drinks ordered: Kitsune, Gilded Rickey Total: USD 111

First visit. Ample parking. Reservation at 5. Seated at 5:10, after a drink at the bar. Drinks, ok, pricey. Ordered several items, Persimmon Tartine, Scallops w/Fennel Salad, Truffled Mushroom Ragu, Oxtail Ragout(yes, that’s spelled correctly:), and finally, Chocolate Truffle Cake for dessert. Every food item arrived as stated on the menu…correct textures/flavors/temperatures. Portions were a perfect size for sharing, with flavor combinations perfect! We could find no fault with any dish…and that’s quite rare! Service was as hoped without over or under attention. Again, something that is hard to come by these days. The execution from start to finish was spot on, and for a busy Friday night, that’s saying something! Expectations met/exceeded!

Google
Went for cocktails and atmosphere…. Open until 1AM on Friday and Saturday. It’s very pretty inside with a large bar. Seating for dinner looks comfortable as well, though I did not eat there. Excellent, talented, friendly, welcoming mixologist named Ben was the highlight for me. Witnessing him craft a cocktail is like watching a magic show. So kind and willing to explain ingredients, flavors, and lore (as the night wound down and became less busy, of course). Nice crowd, interesting patrons. I look forward to visiting again.

Google
We visited Good Luck after a show at the Memorial Art Gallery and had a wonderful time. The staff were welcoming and attentive, making the evening feel special. Our salads were absolutely delicious — fresh, well-balanced, and beautifully prepared. A great spot to enjoy a meal after a night of art and culture.

Yelp
It's been a while since my last review. The bar service system I complained about two years ago has gone by the wayside. They added the Sicilian pizza back to the menu, the burger is consistently delicious, and the bar staff is awesome. Love this place!

Victoria Z.

Yelp
Okay so the camera did NOT eat first here, we ate it all as SOON as it was out on the table, but if you're ever in Rochester definitely get a reservation here! Food is all made "family style" which means any entree you get is made to share among the table (big entrees). You HAVE to get the Good Luck Burger. It's massive and the fries on top are absolutely seasoned to perfection. Mainly street parking, but there's a small lot across the street. It's a big building, great staff (amazing service), and menu has lots to choose from. Environment is set in a darker lighting which is great for intimate groups or date night. Great visit when visiting or if you're in the area.

Yelp
We popped in for just some drinks. Service was quick. I tried the kitsune and French 75. The kitsune was actually spicy with wasabi flavor and I liked how it was served over crushed ice. The French 75 was well made. Definitely want to try food next time.

Kimberly H.

Yelp
When they tell you to get the burger at Good Luck. They mean it. The thing is massive. But cooked well. And lots of leftovers! Ambiance is always fun, drinks balanced, food fresh.

Yelp
Good luck is one of your weekly-monthly go to restaurants :) Absolutely love the vibe and I always pick bar seats! I love the bartenders as they are great mixologists and make the best drink, on demand; even if I go off menu ;) I recently went for their fried chicken night which was great; crispy chicken with a side of fries hit the spot I can't say enough about the baklava cheese cake, it was so moist and delicious!! If it's not be menu it's a must have Their drinks are always amazing - I love the violently citrus and the Sunday shirt!

Marissa M.

Yelp
Alright I have now been to good luck twice. The first time I was very disappointed with my pasta dish because the portion was extremely small and they advertise that meals are family style. I decided to give it another chance, and I came back to get what they're known for, the burger. So as soon as they placed the burger on our table, we saw that the fries were completely burnt. They tasted totally burnt, they were just not good at all. And my friend was telling me how they are usually really good so I was really disappointed but we didnt want to be the jerks who sent something back. So my friend finally mustered up the courage to tell the guy that our fries were very burnt and didn't taste good - and the guy said "yeah I actually felt really bad giving you guys those fries, I can get you a new side of them" We were totally baffled. You knew that you placed totally burnt, basically edible fries on our table?! I'm sorry I just feel like that's totally unacceptable, especially for the prices that they charge here. The ambience is amazing. I will give it that. But the service is just really hit or miss I guess. Our waiter was really nice and the hostesses are super friendly. But that whole situation just really irked me. The crostini and orange pie were the best part of the meal imo.

Mel N.

Yelp
Nice variety of large shared plates! All orders are family style ! You've come here several times! Although it is probably on the pricey side, most of the dishes are very tasty - especially the large burger and fries! We always order the burger and fries that's been cut into fourth and the wonderful fries, the kale, Caesar salad, hummus chicken. They have new offerings, sprinkled with into the menu every now and then. The cocktails are interesting mix of items that normally would not be together. Will definitely return.

Emma N.

Yelp
Everything we ordered was delicious. We shared the charred carrot salad and red lentil dish and I had the chestnut gnocchi with short rib as my main. The gnocchi was by far my favorite. The meat in it was tender and so flavorful. Our server was super nice and answered questions I had about the kitsune cocktail, which had wasabi-washed whiskey in it. She convinced me to get it and I'm so glad I did, it was delicious and not at all heavy on wasabi flavor (I don't really like wasabi in general). I'd definitely come back here for dinner again.

William P.

Yelp
Excellent ambiance and stellar service from a fast-moving staff that helps each other out. My waitress, Kimberly was very kind and helpful, and her assistant, Peter was absolutely fantastic. I had the shiitake mushroom and crab dish, which was wonderful. My favorite part was their "Violently Citrus" drink, which was tart and floral. A very unique blend that was refreshing. Since many establishments close before 11 PM, Good Luck is one of the few places that are open and that is great news because this is a place to visit.

Katelyn S.

Yelp
The burger lived up to all the hype, which I was honestly skeptical of. Mushroom ragut was delicious too, as were the cocktails. Service was attentive and atmosphere was chill yet sophisticated.

Olivia C.

Yelp
Went with a large group and my friend got charged for 3 drinks but only ordered and received 2. When our large group got the bill of over $455 and looked through it she realized she'd been over charged and brought it to their attention. And they refused to give her back her $8.00 for a drink she didn't order saying she may have "forgotten" she got it for herself or a friend. Very disappointing as it was a great location and experience otherwise.

Yelp
5 stars for food, -1 star because it's just so loud. Others said it was "a bit loud," but that's a judicious understatement. My throat is sore 24 hours later from what I did to my vocal cords to be heard. On the other hand, this is a place where you have some drinks, and after a glass or two of wine I stopped caring about how loud it was, so it was fun in the moment. That said, a lot of the food is exceptional. As my mother said, "this would even be good if we weren't in Rochester!" The most memorable dishes: Charred spanish octopus: cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the chickpeas blended seamlessly into the hummus to complement it Vongole: the spaghetti had the best bite I've ever encountered in spaghetti, and the bitterness of the clams themselves made it into the entire pasta sauce through some sort of magic My dining companions were also very impressed with the alcohol lists.

Phil G.

Yelp
Although I wouldn't choose Good Luck (I can't stand the name) for an intimate dinner, if you want fun and excitement, Good Luck (That name!) might be ideal. We sat at the bar on a Wednesday night, and the place was packed with happy diners. Leo was our bartender/server, and he was the consummate professional. My Mezcal Old Fashioned was mixed perfectly. Our food was delicious. I loved my chicken croquettes, and the duck dinner special was scrumptious. I gnawed on the bone. The gnocchi was light but flagrant with taste. I cannot stand leaden gnocchi. Cheesecake was unique and sublime. The bar is enormous, and the restaurant appears cavernous because of the use of mirrors. The noise also makes the room seem larger than it is. Good Luck (Please change the name) has excellent food and guarantees a good time.

Amy M.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere. Only problem with open ceilings is it can get a bit loud but we went early so it was fine. The food is served family style. We happened to have 5 people dining. I would say that the portions are better for 3/4 diners. With 5 I was still a tad bit hungry. Given that the food was delicious! The red lentils are to die for! The burger looks plain but is so flavorful that it does not need anything else. I am a huge s'mores fan so we had to try that for dessert, I found the custard a bit grainy. The cheese cake was delicious.

Ann T.

Yelp
If I lived nearby I would be a regular, despite the fact that my husband does not like to share his food and Good Luck is all about sharing. Four of us split several things starting with the warm olives with citrus & herbs (according to everyone else they were good, but I hate olives so I did not try them). Also shared the red lentil curry (very good), Sicilian pizza (this was our favorite), brandade agnolotti (cod, sweet corn, fresno chili, light and delicious). I had the Gaffel Kolsch, which I liked. My niece and her boyfriend had cocktails and I had a sip and wish I had tried one.

Kathleen M.

Yelp
Service - ok Cocktails- 2 not good at all and at between $12-14 Entree- was 16 oz steak shared by two- preparation was cooked very good but at $65 it is served NOT presliced on a board, with a half charred lemon, small head roasted garlic and small pile of collard greens. The menu at a different restaurant for same cut and portion was $45 and served with French fries! What has happened to this fine establishment? The one owner Charles used to be behind the bar making fabulous drinks! He is definitely needed behind that bar again .

Jack D.

Yelp
Great food, ambiance and service. Highly recommend you go and eat. Try the Good Luck Burger

Nikki G.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and this is where my boyfriend and I went for our anniversary dinner. We had reservations for 9pm, but were seated at around 9:30pm. The place was bumping. It seems like this is the IT spot. We ordered a bottle of wine, and our server knew it was our anniversary and gave us each a glass of champagne to celebrate. Our server was great and accommodating. I enjoyed JJ (I'm pretty sure that it his name). We started with the octopus carpacchio and corn nuts. They were both fantastic. The octopus was amazing. We then shared the walleye and steak meals. Both were absolutely delightful and had great flavor. We ended the night with some ice cream. We had a really great experience here and I wouldn't hesitate in coming back.

Mike H.

Yelp
Went here for a happy hour and again for a birthday. High quality classy dimly lit spot with wild family sized entrees and appetizers.

Maria Rita G.

Yelp
Good food, great service. Nice ambience. Had a hard time finding it because it's not on the main road but we did.

Noemi L.

Yelp
I recommend you go here they have their nail slide and they're so nice. I recommend you go here because they do a massages they do eyelashes they do eyebrows, they slay go there

Belen P.

Yelp
Went there for drinks with friends! Espresso martinis were awesome. The place was crowded but nice. Service was quick! We had no reservation but they got a us a last minute table. Great visit!

Jo-Ellen G.

Yelp
Food was delicious as well as the cocktails. Our waiter was so nice and super knowledgeable. We hadn't been there before and he really helped us. Love it and cannot wait to go back! Burger was awesome fyi.

Rachel G.

Yelp
Outstanding! I loved it here! Drinks were amazing creative with much attention to ingredients. atmosphere-cozy and and elegant-almost like stepping back into a bygone era. For food, we only munched on a generous portion of fries (which were super delish) with our cocktails but let me see there was some amazing looking plates wafting past. Staff was attentive and top notch, even though business was quite brisk on the night we went.

Nicole D.

Yelp
First review after several visits. Good Luck is consistent, vibrant vibe, high quality cocktails, delicious food and lovely service. Our table wait time was two hours so we also requested seats at the bar as an back up plan. A cocktail server circles the bar so you don't have to squeeze in between bar guests. We ordered a beet and frise salad with tazaki dressing. For entrees we shared the gnocchi and carbonara. The gnocchi was had a light texture and the cabonara was full of black pepper. Dessert was the bartenders recommendation, a huge slice of carrot cake with chutney. Breakdown: One salad Two entrees Two glass Living roots Vidal, Three Negroni and Two Disaronno $168. Good Luck is always one of my favorite dining experiences when I visit Rochester.

Tara M.

Yelp
I've been hearing great things about trying good luck. Unfortunately, I was slightly under impressed. The food was good, a tad bit on the salty side. The fries were amazing. And the drinks were pretty good, but nothing I am dying to go back for. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would not say you shouldn't stop, but I think it's way over hyped. Dropping $19 on an artichoke appetizer that isn't even a full artichoke is killer. Don't get me wrong it was delicious, but I can find just as good for cheaper else where. It's a definite gotta try it once place.

Hannah R.

Yelp
The burger--amazing. The pasta--amazing. The cocktails--amazing. Very high end food and great atmosphere. If you have a big party recommend booking the chefs table--you have your own space and it overlooks the kitchen.

Kate F.

Yelp
Loved this place, but a smidge too dark & too loud for this mama. We went here after an RPO concert to grab some drinks & dinner. It felt like club meets restaurant (loud). Anyhow, seated and menued. We chose: Drinks: French 75, Fancy Gin & Tonic, & 2 draft beers Dinner: (cannot remember all the specifics, but here is the gist) Tacos- recommend by our waiter and so good Buttered Toast- delicious and the name does not do it justice Beet Salad- fabulous and a huge plate of deliciousness Lentils- very good, great pita Lamb- a bit salty and dry, but I enjoyed it (I got no hint of rose) Great evening, at the end we ordered an extra pita to go, the person boxing up the red lentils said sure I'll put one in. Then we noticed it cost five dollars for the pita. Not a big deal, but would've been nice to know it was a five dollar pita before it came home with us. None the less it was turned into a red lentil pizza the next day!!

Olivia B.

Yelp
Had a great experience here!! Great food and our server was very nice and friendly. She explained the menu to us and provided some great recommendations! There is a large drinks menu and a bunch of fun cocktails. For food, we ended up trying a bunch of different things. I love how varied the menu is and how you can organize the food to come in courses. My personal favorite was the hot shrimp. Soooo good! I also really enjoyed the Parisian gnocchi. The place was packed on a Thursday night and we had made reservations online, which I highly recommend doing. It seems like it can get very busy and it did take some time for the courses to come out. The overall atmosphere is great though and we really enjoyed our food.

Tiffanie G.

Yelp
Great food, great service and great drinks! What more do you need? I've been a happy patron of Good Luck for years! The atmosphere is very classy and the staff are very nice. I highly recommend getting a reservation if you plan to eat here because the tables fill up fast. Lots of specialty cocktails to choose from- you are sure to find one that you like. Food is shareable portions which makes it extra fun for groups. My favorite meal to order is the Good Luck burger w/fries! Beef is prepared on order, well seasoned and always fresh! Overall- everything was spot on! You have to check this place out! Cheers!

Diondra B.

Yelp
Wonderful service and atmosphere. The reasoning I gave it 3 stars is because I didnt enjoy my meal. Lets start from the top: Drinks: I got a Iamartina and forget the other one name but they both were delicious Food: Fried Half chicken dish (w/ pickles and potato salad) the chicken was kind of chewy and bland didnt enjoy at all. I couldnt finish it because of the taste. The potato salad was good Dessert : choc lava cake with walnut vegan ice cream was amazing!

Anonymous A.

Yelp
Super cute vibe. Ordered good luck burger. Cheerful servers. Their water jars they leave at the table are so darn cute. Super rad food presentation. Burger cut into 4ths and deconstructed--with a delicious specialty sauce and a yummy slaw on the side. Good, crispy fries. My hubby loved the dirty white chocolate ice cream. It was very sweet. I loved the flan. Overall. Awesome experience.

Vladimir K.

Yelp
Great vibes, good food. My wife and I love to come here for dates night. Great spot in Rochester NY

Joseph S.

Yelp
This used to be one of my go to spots! I still love their burger and fries but the menu quality has decreased over the years. Their clientele seems to have shifted, I would not visit this venue later in the night. It would be nice if they would enforce a dress code, and have more specials/happy hours. There is a nice private room, if you are looking to host a private party.

Marissa C.

Yelp
Great food! We were a party of 2, we split a pasta dish and the burger, both were incredible and we finished every bite. Cocktails wonderful and great service too

Amy L.

Yelp
Had a wonderful, effortless take-out experience this week! Ordered a Burger online, picked up within minutes at the time specified. We all know their sharable 1lb burger is amazing, but I was worried how the pick-up would go and how it would make it home, which for me is at least 15 minutes. The fries were packed in a foil bag which kept them crispy and still warm when I got home. The fries came in a very large portion, plenty for 2-3 people. The burger was cooked perfectly seasoned, cooked med-rare and placed not touching the butter toasted roll, so there was no soggy roll! The creamy sauce and the sesame seed topped lettuce slaw was included in separate containers. The cheese was not on the hot burger so you could decide if you wanted it on the burger or not. I have never had such a careful packaging experience, it was really impressive. Call when you arrive at the scheduled time you chose when you ordered online. They brought the food out within 30 sec to 1 min literally. Staff was nice and appreciative. They have drinks and other food options of course, I was overall very impressed and would highly recommend it!

Rhonda P.

Yelp
Short and inventive menu, well-prepared, plentiful food, great service. Unexpected and highly appreciated touches (cotton napkins!). A bit loud for a first date on a Friday after a show, but it was a near-full house, not shouty drinkers. I will eat here every time I come to Rochester.

Noheli R.

Yelp
I've heard so many good things about Good Luck that I had to try it out for myself. Needless to say, I can see why it is highly spoken of. My friends and I met up here for dinner last week. We had an amazing time catching up and trying their cocktails. The food here is served in larger portions so that you can share with others. My friends and I shared the burger, salad, rolls, and warmed olives. Everything we tried was delicious! One thing I would recommend is making a reservation because it seems as though this place can get rather busy! Overall, had a great experience and would definitely recommend!

Kathryn T.

Yelp
The food is so good! I want to let everyone know that they will take orders via phone order before 5:30 PM to avoid overwhelming the kitchen. If you decide to order over the phone after 5:30 then you have to come in person to make an order. My boyfriend and I ordered the two dishes to share. The chef did a fantastic job on cooking duck and burger. They tasted very good and very tender. I approved the dishes!!! I would recommend anyone to order food from Good Luck and they also have outdoor tables if you want to dine in. It is worth to wait for their delicious food

Jen M.

Yelp
First, the restaurant is so cute and decorated nicely. They have candles everywhere and it looked really romantic. The service was okay, very nice waitress, but she was pretty slow. The fries and burger were delicious. The salmon was good, but definitely not worth $42. It came with a very salty sauce and veggies. We were still hungry after eating it. They also charge extra for bread, which seems odd at a nice restaurant!

Allison B.

Yelp
Only got one picture because it just came out so fast and I was just too into the food! Good Luck absolutely lives up to the hype - one of the best dining experiences in Rochester I've ever had. Must visit!

Michele S.

Yelp
Food delicious , from appetizers to main entrees _ great place to enjoy an absolutely delicious dinner

Julie W.

Yelp
Good Luck never disappoints. Melding of seasonal ingredients with the perfect herbs and spices, it's always a delight for your pallet to dine there. Top it off with excellent service and an eclectic dining room = a perfect dinner

Rick G.

Yelp
No longer so thrilled. started out at 7:00 PM on time. Went to the table half of which was a bench the other half chairs. First thing I noticed the bench was totally wet I believe possibly the bench just have been cleaned but they never thought to dry it. Not the worst thing, I took the napkin and dried it myself but not a good beginning. Waitress was wonderful, we ordered some drinks and it started to feel good. The five of us made our order. We ordered a few apps and hamburgers as well an order of chicken. Three hamburgers were medium one well done. Seems simple right? The problem is each meal came probably at least five minutes until the next item came in, so it took almost 25 minutes difference, maybe even longer for the last person to receive there dinner comparing to the first person that got their entrée. I'm not sure about you, but our bill was over three dollars seems like we should all have been able to eat at the same time.

Chris G.

Yelp
Look at many of the other reviews and mine is no different. I'll say it loud in case you missed it: GOOD LUCK IS A TOP 2 IN ROCHESTER! Food is amazing, the menu has options to feed to the table and everyone will definitely want a piece. It ain't for a cute little date. Although you can dress up and be intimate with one other person...BRING YOUR FRIENDS AND HAVE FUN!

Sally R.

Yelp
We recently went for one of their "Chef Table" experiences and for what was presented and the cost - it was not worth it. For $85.00 per person and $500.00 minimum we expected special dishes - not dishes that we could just have ordered off of the menu! The service was average - very slow start and end and the protein course of pork chop was cold. Save your money and just have a regular dinner there.

Quan Q.

Yelp
This is a very crowded restaurant. We came around 6 pm on Friday and the bar was packed with a long waiting list. Luckily we had a good server. It was a long wait for our table. The burger was a little on the dry side. I remember the 1st time I had this dish. It was tender. Their small plates are large enough to share. I like this place because it is family style portion. We didn't need to spend much on food compare to order our own dish. The drinks were good especially their Kampucha selection on that night.

The Victor F.

Yelp
Friends treated me to nice dinner out. The three of us had never been to the restaurant. Our server started by explaining their entrees where meant to share. This was not a sharable entree. The lamb ribs were not hot or warm. The "glaze" was very light and had no flavor at all. Thw largest of the ribs was all fat. The Mac salad was a soupy. I guess that was on purpose because my dish was served with a spoon. The salad also had traces of cabbage in it. Why? It was all pretty gross. My friends ordered their famous burger to split. Their enormous burger came out in under 10 minutes well done but not hot nor warm either. The only thing fresh were the fries and they were salted like they were being preserved. I ate most of my meal to be polite but regretted it hours later. Spent the rest of the evening and most of the next morning with ny head in a bag. Very disappointed.

Nancy V.

Yelp
Chose Good Luck for a special birthday dinner and from small plates to dessert, it was outstanding. Excellent service and the most delicious food.
