The 10 Best Bars In Cleveland 2024 - Cleveland - The Infatuation

"Good Night John Boy is where you go when you want to boogie to ABBA’s greatest hits. This ‘70s-themed nightclub checks all the disco-era boxes: shag carpet in the lounge areas, a sparkling disco ball hanging over a light-up linoleum dance floor, and a 20-foot-tall poster of Farrah Fawcett. Their Mood Ring cocktail follows suit—it’s a pretty sweet drink that changes colors, thanks to a cotton candy glitter bomb reacting with alcohol. If that sounds too much like a science fair experiment, the Miller High Life dressed up with Tapatío, salt and pepper, and a squirt of lime is a reliable tangy mix without the dangers of a sugar crash." - kate bigam kaput

We came to this bar for my best friends bachelorette party and we had such a groovy time. We had such a fun time dancing, and playing beer pong! Jordan and Kylie were excellent, attentive bartenders who served a group of 15 happily. I highly recommend you check this place out!

Came from out of town to visit friends and randomly decided to come. This place was amazing! Drinks were good. Everyone was having the best time and the music was on fire. Knees hurt, back aches, but I will ABSOLUTELY be coming back!

I recently hosted a section at Johnny Boy and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience—largely thanks to our amazing server, Brittany. From the moment we arrived, they were welcoming, attentive, and on top of every detail. Whether it was keeping drinks full, accommodating special requests, or checking in at just the right moments,Brittany made sure everyone in our group felt taken care of. Her positive attitude and professionalism really elevated the night and helped create a fun, stress-free environment. I highly recommend hosting an outing here!!

We had such a great time at this bar—the atmosphere is so fun! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was energetic, with the perfect mix of music, lighting, and crowd to make it feel both fun and welcoming. A huge shoutout to Brittany, who truly made our night. She was not only super friendly and attentive but also incredibly helpful in making sure we had everything we needed. Whether it was drink recommendations, helping us find a spot, or just checking in to make sure we were having a good time, Brittany went above and beyond. Can’t recommend this place enough if you're looking for good drinks, good vibes, and even better service!

Sent an email over a week ago to management about being assaulted in this bar & have yet to receive a response. Clearly they care more about looking like a reputable business vs protecting the safety of their women patrons 💫 save your money, go literally anywhere else !!

Jacob is the kind of bartender every bar dreams of having. From the moment we sat down, he greeted us with a genuine smile and an easygoing confidence that made us feel instantly at home. He’s got that perfect balance of professional and personable—attentive without hovering, friendly without forcing it. What really stood out was his knowledge and passion for what he does. Whether it was recommending a craft cocktail or mixing up something custom based on our preferences, every drink he made was spot-on. You can tell he takes pride in his craft—each pour felt thoughtful, not rushed. On a busy night, Jacob kept his cool and still made time to engage with guests. That kind of grace under pressure is rare and deserves to be recognized. If you find yourself at the bar and see Jacob behind it, you’re in good hands. He’s not just serving drinks—he’s creating an experience. Highly recommend.

Do not go. If I could leave zero stars I would. Bouncer was extremely rude and homophobic. I then asked him kindly the question if we could go in since my friend had to use his passport instead of his ID and he mocked us by saying « I don’t know can you? »and this whole situation ruined the ambiance. They should hire better bouncers. We didn’t spend much time after, and drinks were expensive.

Google
I was in this bar twice tonight the first time went smooth and there were no problems, the second time It went terribly. I've been to all the bars in the flats hundreds of times and have never dealt with a bouncer like the one that worked tonight. He was extremely rude and my girlfriend albeit very immature but not uncalled for flipped the bouncer off because of how he was treating ME. He grabbed her very unprofessionally and harshly. I word for word said you shouldn't be grabbing her like that and he THREW me out of the line after already saying I can go in this was extremely unprofessional and makes me not want to return to this specific location in the flats. I never leave a review and this brought me to such a temperament that I had to.

Yelp
To start ive been looking for a good dance club around cleveland that will play the retro older music. This place is it. Went there for first time this past Saturday and it really brought back memories of the great club days of the 80s and 90s. Awesome DJ mixes. Great music was played, some songs i havent heard in ages was mixed in. I was shocked. Can't wait to get down there again. We had a blast.

Yelp
I'm at an age where I like when bars are quiet and not packed with people (#old), so it's great that we got to check out Good Night John Boy on a Saturday afternoon with only a few other visitors. The space is fun and there's lots to see - the bartender described it as Studio 54 in your grandma's basement, which is spot on. The retro couches and memorabilia next to a giant disco ball and lighted floor plus the Farrah Fawcett wall make for a fun atmosphere. The drinks are also appropriately retro, including all sizes of Miller High Life offered including a 40. I went with the mood ring martini, which comes with a random puff of cotton candy that is mixed in, turning your drink one of six colors to show your "mood." Mine was pink and the glitter is so fun. At $17 I definitely don't need to try it again, but it was fun to experience. The bartender was very friendly and chatted with us and made us feel welcome. She said they get super packed, like shoulder to shoulder with a line out the door packed, so if that's your jam and you're looking to dance, add Good Night John Boy to your list.

Yelp
If you like to dance with loud music and a club atmosphere, this is the place for you. I visited during a charity bar crawl with friends. My favorite thing about Good Night John Boy is, not only the cool dance floor, but the fact that they serve 40oz beers, glass bottle and all! A little nostalgia for us eighties babies. The bartenders are always fun and professional, they do a great job. Always a fun night!

Yelp
Decent downtown bar. Bouncers are pretty rude and the bar is past shoulder to shoulder. Music was above average. If you like sardined bars it's a good one for you but it's a little too tight.

Yelp
Darty time !! Daytime Party !! Great opportunity to see this awesome 70s party place! The staff was fun and amazing. The attention to 70s details was really good. There was the the floor that every kitchen in the seventies had, the plaid burlappy material couches, disco dance floor, the iconic Farrah Fawcet poster. Beads in the doorway, shag carpets. The music was fun and great atmosphere for a Saturday afternoon Darty!!! Day drinking. whoohooo with a DD!!! Definitely coming back !!!

Yelp
Bunch of crooks. As a Cleveland local, I get roped into coming here. On separate occasions, they've added more to their tip than I signed off for, and swiped my card multiple times for the same order. Owners also couldn't care less about feedback. Ice machine has mold!

Yelp
I like how consistent this place is. It is a 70s themed bar/dance club that plays hits from then and now. The bouncers are fair and the bartenders keep drinks flowing. Prices for drinks are $8-15. The dance floor lights up and everyone is there to dance! This place is for ALL ages, from 21-81.

Yelp
Good Night John Boy is FUN. My friend and I were grabbing dinner nearby and we heard music blaring, and naturally were enticed. This is a popular place, and we decided to pop in and check it out before the mad rush of the late Saturday night crowd came in (if you come here later in the evening, there almost certainly will be a line outside to get in). Cleveland is so, so void on having places we can go to dance. Good Night John Boy has a fun Studio 54 inspired vibe with a light-up dance floor, a disco ball and a huge portrait of Farrah Fawcett. We just ordered one drink and danced. The DJ was great, everyone on the dance floor was really into it, and we decided we want to get dressed up in our best sequins and come back another time. Coming in the early evening was the right move for us as gals who just wanted to have fun but not get drunk with the late night crowd. I'm really excited to come back!

Yelp
I came to Good Night John Boy while hopping around the flats. I ordered a vodka redbull and was charged $20! After paying, I asked the bartender if she poured me a double (which I would be fine paying $20 for a double shot and redbull), she informed me that it was only a single shot of Tito's and a redbull pour....I am a bartender and for a shot of Tito's at my bar we charge $6 for a single and $12 for a double. She informed me that they charge $12 for the single shot of Tito's and $5 for the pour of redbull separately. I later checked their menu and it shows that they only charge $4 for a FULL Red Bull and I was given a combined mixture of 2 that had been sitting out for who knows how long. I love the vibes here and have had great times at this bar in the past but I am reluctant to return after these steep charges and being up charged for no reason in general. I understand that a night out can be expensive...but this is a bit absurd. Long story short, do not waste your money on a vodka redbull here! Go for a fun cocktail on their menu that is cheaper and probably better tasting.

Yelp
For some reason I was told they stopped serving cocktails at 10pm on a Saturday. Maybe you should update your website with this information.

Yelp
Fun place. Not particularly high quality though. You know what you're getting. Good music for dancing.

Yelp
Great bar! Great service from the bartenders. Wear your dancing shoes for music across the decades

Yelp
I'll never return. Worst drink I've ever had for $20. All the bartenders were VERY VERY rude. The drink was horrible! I've never had worse service. The place, not fun at all.

Liam S.

Yelp
In town visiting and was refused a drink because bartender thought I was too drunk(I was 2 drinks deep). Said he'll just get me a water and ruined the night.

Alexa K.

Yelp
Jillian is amazing!!! Love her constant good vibes, dance moves, and spicy margs :) Would definitely recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
Fantastic place for all ages to dance and let loose. Tons of old hits from the past are played and there are two large bars to keep lines sorter. Outdoor and indoor standing and seating areas. Huge dance floor next to DJ. I want to commend one of the workers- wearing a gangster costume tonight- who immediately jumped into action and got me some sugary liquid when I told him my blood sugar was low. I really appreciate your quick action to help me get back on the dance floor. It means a lot!

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday night for an impromptu birthday celebration before my daughter returned to California. Not sure why the low reviews but we had an amazing time. Everyone was really friendly. We were able to find a seat right by the dance floor and had so much fun dancing our asses off. We even made some new friends. It's such a cool place and the vibe was great. I like that it's a mixture of age ranges and the music is disco. It's like a 70's throw back. My only complaint is the dance floor is a bit sticky and I sat in a chair that someone must've spilled a drink on. Other than that super cool decor and so much fun. I asked the dj to do a shout out to my daughter as we were celebrating her dirty 30. He did right away. So nice. The drinks aren't super strong but I'm not much of a drinker anyway. My sisters and I decided we will definitely be going back.

Yelp
Great music! Danced all night long. Drinks in disco balls; what fun. Go early or you'll get stuck in a line!

Yelp
So much fun! We were here for a convention and ended it with a night of dancing! Great drinks...a little pricey and awesome music! DJ David kept us on the dance floor all night! I loved the atmosphere and the mix of a wide age range. They had the best bathroom system I've ever seen in a club....well done management! If you're in Cleveland for a weekend make sure to get your groove on here!

Annie S.

Yelp
Willie Williams is the best bouncer in CLE! He's super attentive and makes sure everyone is safe while partying! Will be back for sure.

Yelp
We went here on a Thursday evening, and we had such a blast!!! Great vibes, great music and even better drinks !! our bartender cara (hopefully spelled right ) was such a sweetheart and friendly

Santonio F.

Yelp
Willie Williams - the bouncer really held it down! Made sure everyone and their mama was safe!

Sam H.

Yelp
Worst club in Cleveland. I paid over $30 for two drinks again, I asked for a "tequila soda" both times. Music is like a middle school party in 2015, cute in the rarest of moments. Staff was nice but do not give a fuck about your requests

Yelp
Based on their website and socials, I was really looking forward to going here to celebrate my recent engagement with friends. When we showed up the place was so packed you could barely get to the bar and the dance floor was more like people shimmying in place shoulder to shoulder. And very sticky! I ordered two double rum & cokes and the total was $50 (!!). After my fiancé and I tasted our drinks we were pretty much certain the bartender forgot to put even a single shot in (we aren't big drinkers and this was our first stop of the night, so there isn't much chance we were just immune to the alcohol content). I took our drinks back up to the bar and politely asked a different bartender if there was anything he could do. He very rudely replied that he didn't make the drinks, he wasn't going to taste the drinks to see if I was telling the truth, and he could remake the drinks if I was wanted to pay another $50. No thanks! I waited for our initial bartender and asked if there was any possibility the alcohol could have been left out. She promptly replied, "No. I remember making these drinks. Each has a double shot." I explained that we aren't big drinkers and never get double shots but that our friend's rum & coke with a single shot was much stiffer than ours and that at $25 a pop, I figured it was worth asking about. Especially since we were celebrating our engagement! After ending with, "I don't normally complain-" she cut in with, "but you ARE" and rolled her eyes. She did end up pouring us each double shots in separate cups to add ourselves but was visibly pissed at us, verbally demeaning, and just rude overall. And to be fair, I get it! I'm sure they get shit all the time from drunk people trying to get free drinks. But we were sober, cheery, honest, and so passive/apologetic about having to ask about our drinks in the first place. It ruined our time there and after we finished our drinks we promptly left and will not be returning.

Yelp
As far as "clubs" go, this is a spot anyone can have fun at. The variety of music, the vibe, and clean bathrooms are top tier.

Yelp
It's ok. We reserved a table for 10 people for a 40th birthday. This place was recommended so we gave it a try. We arrived at around 9:30-early for a Saturday night-and the place was already jammed with children. When I say children, I mean people under 25 who have no etiquette. We did walk around the line to go in, but our table wasn't ready. There were a few tables and the children were hanging all over them with their single drinks. Staff had to move the squatters so we could resume with our bottle service. The reservation was for 10. We were given the smallest seating area. We ordered a few bottles and a case of beer but we would have ordered more had we been seated in one of the other two more appropriate table spaces. Our server was very good, but it was just too crowded. The crowd was gross. I was reminded again that I'm a genX-er who had no business in a place like this. Like I said, it was ok.

Yelp
Awesome atmosphere and good drinks. The scenery away too cool. Me and my friends had a great time we will be back
google avatar

DeMarco W.

Yelp
This place used to be AMAZING. I just wish they kept the old school music. Why ruin the theme with this generational new music? Don't fix something when it was never broken. Keep the 70s-80s music

Nicole D.

Yelp
LOVE GNJB. Have had a blast every time I've gone. The music is always on point, service is great, and the vibes are awesome.

Fred N.

Yelp
Loud and crowded. Canned wine all bubbly sweet crap. Nice music mix but songs repeated
google avatar

Torre H.

Yelp
This place took my cousin and my friend's id when both of them are 21+ so annoying because now they have to go out of their way & pay for a new id. They should really hire a new bouncer who can tell a real id from a fake. Don't recommend unless you want your id taken. They also allowed underage girls to pay $20 to get in so they probably shouldn't have their liquor license.
google avatar

Kristina V.

Yelp
i always have a good night here but tonight i found it abnormally off. i went to go request music as i have before which is never a big deal and the DJ's girlfriend kept telling me that he wasn't taking anymore requests. i just found that so unprofessional. i never care to wait but to be told of rules from someone who didn't even work at this establishment, really threw me off. she also shoved my friend when trying to request another song. very unprofessional. i really love this place for the type of music they played and how accommodating it has been in the past. i bring my friends out every Friday night, and now we might think twice about going heee.
google avatar

Brianna H.

Yelp
The bouncer did not let my friends in who are both 23 yet let all of these people in who seemed to know him without even checking their ID. This place should have their liquor licensed revoked.

Ellen R.

Yelp
Fun night out! It gets busy so we tried to go early around 9 pm on a Saturday, great disco music and dance floor! And we got to keep the disco ball cup that our drink came in!

Kristen K.

Yelp
Terrible bar. Be prepared to wait in line forever to get in then be prepared to do it all again for drinks and the bathroom, each taking about 10-15 minutes every time. The whole place smelled like body odor and urine. The bathrooms are disgusting as the floor is covered in urine and the toilets were dirty. As for the bar, the floor was sticky everywhere you walked and there were cups and trash all over the place. On top of all of that the staff was inexperienced and out right rude. Never going back.
