I always love a brewery that has margarita slushies or cider for those of us who don’t drink beer. There is a ton of seating in front and on the side as well as indoor. They also have a big area to play corn hole & other games.

Samantha M.

Google
Great beers, fun environment! There's a lot of outdoor seating options. We can on a Friday around 4pm, it wasn't that busy. The guy who took our drink order was strictly business though, not really friendly or personalable which isn't great for 1st time guest experience. I want to give 4 stars for that, but maybe he's just having a bad day.

Alex G.

Google
I can’t recommend Jamie, and everyone at Good People Brewing enough! It was so easy from the first email to Jamie, all the way to the party ending. The space was perfect and just what our couple wanted for their engagement party. Such a fun atmosphere, good beer, and Hotbox has fantastic food. 10/10! Thank yall!

Girls Rock B.

Google
We LOVE Good People! They recently hosted our event and were so incredibly helpful and generous. The patio space was perfect for our karaoke party for all ages and we can't wait to have another event with them! Truly GOOD PEOPLE here!!

Rich C.

Google
A great brewery with great service with a smile. You can taste test all beer on draft. Awesome experience, great atmosphere. Highly recommend

Zachary W.

Google
We hosted our wedding welcome party at Good People Brewing for about 150 out-of-town guests, and it could not have been a better experience. From start to finish, everything was seamless. The space was perfect for a large group; laid-back, spacious, and full of that authentic Birmingham charm. It really gave our guests a taste of what makes this city so great. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly, and a special shoutout goes to Jamie, who was absolutely incredible to work with, super organized, responsive, and genuinely kind. If you’re looking for a spot to host an event, or just want a true Birmingham experience, I can’t recommend Good People Brewing enough. It set the perfect tone for our wedding weekend, and we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

Katia R.

Google
Great brewery! Super kid and dog friendly with tons of beer options. My favorite beer was el muchacho and the frozen margarita. Great spot to visit if you’re in Birmingham, the staff was really friendly too.

Bob

Google
Hosted a party for my work friends upon my retirement. Reserved part of the side porch and had a private server which was a perfect touch so guests could get drinks without going to the main bar. Everyone at Good People was great to work with, from event planner Jamie to our server Sean. Of course the beer was awesome, as always, and a good selection of non-alcoholic drinks as well. I could not be more pleased.

Yelp
Good People Brewing is probably the most popular brewery in Birmingham, Alabama and they are located across the street from Regions Field. The service here is friendly and the place has a cool.enough ambiance and vibe. This is a great place to come enjoy a beer. I would definitely recommend here.
google avatar

Tiffany J.

Yelp
If you're looking for a good drink before hitting the town or just want a chill spot to enjoy a beer, check out Good People. It's right in the heart of downtown, so super easy to find. They serve the best alcoholic slushies ever, hands down. There's usually a food truck outside and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The parking is the only downfall, but honestly, it's worth the walk. Solid spot to kick back
google avatar

Margarita B.

Yelp
A lovely gem of a brewery in Downtown Birmingham. Dog-friendly with a good mix of brews on tap, a casual, low-key spot to enjoy a brew or two. Servers were very kind and helped us navigate their tap list as we were unfamiliar with the local brews. We got a good mix of beers in our flight and enjoyed being around some Good People in Alabama!
google avatar

Zac B.

Yelp
Great space, huge indoor and outdoor seating areas with plenty of room to spread out. I didnt get a chance to try any of the food but the beer was really good, my favorite was the triple IPA it was super tasty. Service was great as well, really friendly, quick, and was able to give some good suggestions. Right by railroad park and the baseball stadium so very nice if you are in the area.
google avatar

Drew S.

Yelp
Man, I absolutely loved Good People. Everything about my experience here was five stars. Becca pointed me in the right direction of exactly what I wanted. She was super knowledgeable and friendly. I loved chatting with her. The space is awesome! I sat indoors but the outdoor space is beautiful. It would be perfect for big groups or a great spot to enjoy a beer and sunlight. Lastly, the beer was great. I had a few different IPA's and loved them all. Snake Handler is the main attraction, in my opinion. I'm an IPA guy but the beer menu is diverse with something for everyone. I cannot recommend this enough. Absolutely awesome.
google avatar

Dayana V.

Yelp
We were on a time crunch but HAD to stop in. The drinks we wanted were out unfortunately but we tried a blueberry wheat that was really good. We stocked up on merch and headed out
google avatar

Mandy M.

Yelp
Super fun atmosphere. Lots of beers to choose from. Plenty of shade when needed. Only downside was that the ink they used to stamp your hand after checking your ID took nearly a week to get off.
google avatar

Natalie F.

Yelp
Good people probably has my favorite atmosphere of the breweries in Birmingham. It is so fun to come before or after a Birmingham Baron's game, but it is also perfect on a warm summer night and all of the lights are lit up. The addition of the faux grass is perfect and it makes it very kid friendly. Not to mention HotBox Food Truck is there permanently and the food is so amazingly good. The burger you cannot go wrong with and the lemongrass fried chicken is out of this world. On a summer day cool off with a crisp beer and the soba noodle salad!

Remona J.

Yelp
Next time I'd rather drive to Sylacauga!!! He commented on how good the chicken smelled but didn't ask if I needed help to my car. This interaction gets a thumbs down for me. Retrain, retrain, retrain.
google avatar

Pete D.

Yelp
Best IPA beer in the country! Snake Handler if you're a hop head. I don't like any hazy beer, not a fan of the bacteria laced fermentation process.
google avatar

Amy M.

Yelp
Popped in for a quick flight of beer at good people after walking around railroad park and I'm glad we did! The bartenders were attentive and gave great suggestions as to what to try. The beer itself was cold and very tasty. I recommend trying their sour beer if you like almond and cherry flavor. It wasn't overtly sweet and had a great tartness to it. The brewery is also dog friendly, has a food truck, and outdoor seating. I would not mind stopping by again next time I'm in Birmingham. Cheers!

Tom F.

Yelp
Great ambiance; indoor and outdoor. Wide selection of brews. Food truck outside with good food.

Yelp
THE PLACE TO GO FOR BEER IN BIRMINGHAM! My family and I are from Birmingham and we recently stopped by the week of 4th of July, and we just reminisced about all the great memories spent at this place. This is the place you go to experience a great time with friends, family, and even bring along the furry four legged friends! Good People may not serve food, but there are always food trucks or other food options available! And the name is very fitting b/c I'm always greeted with a smile, and the best service even if I'm struggling with what to order! There's been times where Good People has been slammed, but the bartender will still manage to offer suggestions and samples so that I'm satisfied with whatever beer I select!
google avatar

Dee R.

Yelp
Came in thinking we were gonna have lunch! But we learned they don't serve food! However the amazing girls at the bar let me try different beers before I picked one! I chose PhantaSmash. It was great! Very strong.
google avatar

Alice K.

Yelp
Great ambiance. Their muchacho and IPA are tried and true. I would recommend others to branch out and try their cocktails or cherry sour. They are very good!
google avatar

Lucy T.

Yelp
I don't drink beer, but this is always a fun place to come with friends! They have both an outdoor and indoor area. They host fun events from time to time here too. The comedy shows are pretty nice. Good People is also walking distance from Region's field so it's a great place to come before or after the Baron's games.

Kevin M.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Large outdoor areas. Nice staff. Clean and neat. Oh and the beers were delicious.
google avatar

Christopher T.

Yelp
Always a great time. El Gordo day is great. Struggle sometimes with beer selection be nice if there where not all of the same genre at times during regularly operation or have some more style offerings. If I am being picky. However, it's still great. We love going before baseball games. Staff is friendly and attentive
google avatar

George D.

Yelp
This is one of my regular stops when I visit Birmingham. We included in our Brewery Crawl. It's right across from the baseball stadium. Another bonus, Tortugas opened a second location right next door. As to GP, it's wide open inside with plenty of cozy sitting areas. Before COVID, they had bar seating too but that is gone now - I assume a tempt thing. Outside, there are many picnic tables and some nice lighting. Suggest sitting outside if the weather dictates. The bartenders are always pleasant and willing to help with suggestions / tastings. They have a more permanent food truck now - maybe run by them? It's right out front. Their Brussels Sprouts are legendary!! I usually get their Brown Ale. It's one of my favorites. They also had a blueberry type beer on my last visit that I tried. A little out of my comfort zone but it was delicious. When in Birmingham, you must visit Good People.
google avatar

Sho N.

Yelp
Great beer, great service, cool vibe. I would 100% go back. Bier garden style seating and a nice outdoor area. Right across from where the Barons play.
google avatar

Darrell O.

Yelp
This is a very cool spot and the location is priceless. This was my first time here and it was nice I must say. It's located in large warehouse and the old docking bay they turned into a patio which is where I sat and enjoyed my IPA beer. It's right across the street from the Barons baseball stadium and next door to a Chicago pizza joint that frequented recently. They're supposed to do a complete redevelopment of the area but I haven't seen much of anything as of yet but can't wait to see how everything turns out.
google avatar

Yelp
Met our friends from the Midwest for drinks. Place was quiet and super clean. I do nit care for pale ales, so I ordered the vodka and cranberry juice. Service was great. We had a great visit before we headed out to dinner. Will come back again. Certainly us an ideal place to meet larger groups of people. Only wish they had paper towels and not hand blowers in the bathroom.

Yelp
A DIFFERENT BEER-SPECTIVE! After leaving Monday Night Brewing Friday night, we wanted to stay out a little longer. I guess you can say we were brewery hopping last night. I knew that Good People Brewing was around the same area, but did not realize just how close it was to Monday Night Brews. Birmingham I like to consider a brewery lover's paradise. There are so many to choose from. Everything from themed breweries, to more classy ones Bham has one for everyone. Good People Brewing is located right across the street from Regions Field so I am sure that they receive a great crowd when there are games being played. My personal favorites so far have been Ghost Train and Birmingham District Brewing, but I am always open to trying new ones. Each of the breweries in town has their own twang and dedicated following. Good People Brewing I like to consider a much classier brewery. Compared to Monday Night, this brewery is a much calmer and quiet vibe to it. Monday Night is much more of a bar scene, rather than a brewery. But I am sure that Monday Night has their quieter days too. At Good People there is a beautiful outside space with stringed lights and many many tables. A food truck is usually parked outside the brewery too which was a god send for us as we starving by the time we arrived (got a little lost walking from Monday Night). The Hot Box food truck defiantly fits the vibes of Good People Brewing. Bar food, with a twist! Their menu is broken down into lights/lagers, stouts/hops and finally they also offer a few different mixed cocktails too. I decided on the Blueberry seltzer. Not only did this drink have a gorgeous color to it; but it also had an amazing aroma. Smelled like freshly picked blueberries. It was bubbly, light and fresh tasting, what more could you ask for? When we came inside we noticed how big of a space this brewery is. There were gorgeous leather couches and beautiful light fixtures all around the brewery too which fit right into the theme. I have noticed that a lot of the breweries around have a merch table for all of their loyal fans to pick up a shirt or a growler. I am sure it makes a killing when the tourists are in town. The first thing we noticed off the bat when coming inside is that this is a dog friendly brewery. Lots of them are around here. But on this night in particular the Shelby County Humane Society was there. Such a great experience but the dogs dressed up in their Halloween costumes was an added plus. I will be back to Good People Brewing for sure. Wonderful people, classy environment and delicious drinks.

Yelp
Tasty suds. We had the idea to come to Birmingham for a minor league baseball game. After getting to town I had asked a few locals what the best spot was for pre-game drinks and everyone said "Good People Brewing". I asked one guy i it better to stop in before or after the game and he promptly replied, "Both!" So a few hours later got out of our Uber a couple blocks away(the street right by the brewery-stadium are blocked off)and walked down to the spot. It's a nice place. It had that usual high ceilings and adult games of most breweries. It also had the long beer bar to walk up to. I asked for their Pilsner, and he recommended a tasty one for me. We really appreciated the interior but saw that there was a outside seating area in the front, and a even better one on the side of the building so we went out there. It was perfect, as right across the street was the stadium and we could watch everyone lining up to go in. It was honestly about as perfect as you could ask: beer baseball and chilling in the perfect spot. You can't beat it.

Yelp
I have visited here on a number of occasions , so it's surprising to me that I have never written a Good People review. That's crazy! I was here recently on a Friday night. It was a little chilly so we sat inside. Seating indoor was limited due to Covid and because there was already a nice crowd. All things considered, we managed to find a place to land. The upstairs seating offered a nice view of the lower level. Ordering is easy here and they have a nice variety of beers for all palates. I was able to sample a beer as well. You can purchase growlers and canned beers to go. The layout here at GP is open and the outside consist of front yard and backyard seating. Really nice on those warmer days! Good People generally offers a good truck rotation so you can count on having something to eat while at the brewery. Conveniently , Tortuga's Pizza is within walking distance , so that is a major plus! I really enjoy coming here and I'm never disappointed. Masks are still required and social distancing is still being enforced!
google avatar

Mai N.

Yelp
Great beers and great vibes. Their outdoor seating is lovely- right across from the ball park and Railroad park. Parking can be tricky though, especially when the Barons are playing (would not suggest coming by car when there's a game). There's even a fusion food truck on the premise and if you want pizza (Tortuga's), you can order and they'll even deliver to you!
google avatar

Zach H.

Yelp
Where do I begin with Good People? Their location is impeccable, being right across from Regions Field and the park. Their taproom is large and inviting, as is the porch and courtyard. Even if you don't drink or like beer this is a great place to meet friends and enjoy company. What continues to bring me back is their selection of beers! Since they opened in 2008, claiming to be the original craft brewery in the state, they have steadily introduced regular drinks and seasonal favorites. I have enjoyed and would get again almost every beer that I have tried here. Their standard IPA is very solid, but I'd be remiss if I failed to mention the snake handler or hitchhiker IPAs. I am glad they have brought back the coffee oatmeal stout, but be on the lookout for the chocolate peanut better stout (taproom only according to their website). And I like what they are doing with the Funk Farm beers, especially the cherry almond sour, which pours and tastes like wine (probably what Lloyd was referring to in "Dumb and Dumber"). Needless to say, this is my personal favorite brewery! See the standard for Alabama brewing yourself!
google avatar

Morgan C.

Yelp
My favorite brewery hands down, it's huge with a lot of space, love the location it's at in Birmingham, during baseball season my girlfriend and I will stop here first and pre game before we go to the barons game since it's across the street , they also sell really cool shirts hats and hoodies.
google avatar

Yelp
4 is an overall experience score. And should be a 4.25 which is great with room for improvement. 3 = Ambience Grown-up family struggling to leave college norms is the vibe. Think of that what you will. Lots of seating when warm. But not yet ready for cooler weather. When warm weather is going, this score will increase 4.75 = sampled beer. I'm not an expert in beer but I have experience and opinions. Tasted the Brown(a), Imperial Honey Head(b) and (c) Oktoberfest. a: nice intro beer middle of the road yet tasty. Similar to a mature Sam Adams. Leaving with a growler because I like having a great option after work. b: a good tart with hoppy feel. More lemon than one would expect on a high abv drink. Middle of Nov this taste great but out of season. If this is still available in early March.. perfect! (c) good way to end my night but I like spicy fall feelings. But not a take home blend
google avatar

Jeff C.

Yelp
I ordered a flight of beer here and every one had a unique and delicious flavor. I went Sunday for lunch and had my flight with some food from the food truck that stays on the premises. The bartender was very kind and allowed me my privacy but also happily answered any questions I had. The outside area looked tidy but I stayed indoors where it was very spacious. I was able to enjoy my beer in peace. Would recommend the PBJ stout despite not being a huge fan of dark beer.
google avatar

Joshua H.

Yelp
Good People beer is a mainstay around the South, and they have a wide variety of brews available all the time. With such a wide variety, you'd think there would be more than a few duds here and there. Luckily, those misses are few and far between with the choices here on tap! The building is nestled near the big Birmingham sign just off the main streets of downtown, and has ample parking within walking distance. There is also a food truck often open right next door, and a few other food options that can deliver to the brewery. They have plenty of outside seating, with long tables and overhead covering for slightly sunny or damp days. As previously mentioned, the star of the place is the beer, and they offer tons of options each day, along with the ability to get a FIVE (5) beer flight! It was a bit on the expensive side for it, but the option to try so many beers at once was a treat I didn't expect. I will return again!
google avatar

Gary B.

Yelp
Located across The street from Regions Field no better place to grab a pregame craft beer. Plenty of seating inside or out, food trucks always onsite or nearby. I went with a flight of signature IPA's and then several Stouts. Great sudds !!!
google avatar

Dakota B.

Yelp
Good People was kind enough to open up their doors earlier than normal on a Sunday AM to let a local ManUtd supporters group watch the EFL Carabao Cup final on 2/26. I was heading home through Birmingham and happened to catch up with the group here. Wonderful ambience and a wide variety on their menu would make any soccer fan's day. Especially wonderful nod to the dog-friendly additions, including water bowls and treats available on the bar for the furry friends who make their way in. Try the Muchacho; it's better than Modelo. Awesome spot!
google avatar

Jordan B.

Yelp
While visiting Birmingham, decided to stop in at this brewery. It was a good choice, as this brewery was still somewhat new, but pretty good! They had a variety of beer options available. Patio seating outside was also a great perk on days with nice weather! The location of the brewery was really good! It's located right downtown Birmingham, across the street from the baseball field and a huge park. There was plenty of parking in the area, but Uber and scooters are also a great option if available.
google avatar

Kendrick Y.

Yelp
I live right next to Good People Brewing but haven't had the chance ever to visit. However, I dropped in quickly recently and got the Cherry Almond Sour ($7) and food from the food truck, Hot Box, right next to it (Fried chicken- $16; pretzel bites and beer cheese- $11). I am not a fan of beer (so take this part with a grain of salt), but the Cherry Almond Sour was nice (although not much "cherry") with a strong taste of the grains. The fried chicken was nice and crispy and came with fries that were seasoned well. The sauce with the chicken added a nice creamy flavor with a small spice kick. The pretzel bites were nice and chewy with a good subtle beer cheese flavor. Overall, I loved the vibes (a nice place to talk with friends), and the food complemented it.
google avatar

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
I went to Good People Brewing and ordered a Chili Dog with no onions and I asked for the mustard on the side and got a side of their seasoned fries. It was delicious and our food came out very quickly! I like that the hotbox food truck uses the text system so customers aren't having to wait for their name or a number to be called. It's nice to be able to sit inside and chat instead of having to wait around the food truck to receive your food. I then got a drink inside the brewery.
google avatar

Rob M.

Yelp
I don't know how she did it, but one beertender was taking care of about 20 patrons in this large bar taproom on a Sunday afternoon. Beautiful setting across from the ballpark. I would definitely return.
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
Traveling from out of town in the heart of Birmingham. I am a bit of a beer snob and I liked every beer I had. Need to try the flagship IPA which is balanced yet interesting. I would come again.
google avatar

Wendy J.

Yelp
Good people brewing is always a place to go if you want a great experience. If you are a beer drinker, they have so many different beers to try. Even if you aren't, I found most of the beers to be really good (although I don't like beer). I usually go with the sours because I like something more sweet. It is definitely Covid friendly, especially because all of the tables and chairs are outside. They only have the inside open for you to purchase beers and you always have to wear a mask inside.
google avatar

Julio H.

Yelp
Strictly beer speaking, yes, the beer is pretty good, actually, surprisingly good and well made. But one beer server for a whole brewery it's a bit on the understaffed side. Plus, beertenders get cranky and crazy when all they hear is "here! here!". But once you get your beer, you can sit down on the community tables and enjoy your malty beverages. And yes, the beer is good. The locals are pretty good, people come with their pets and stuff, and there is a food truck outside. Vibe is good, young professional crowd, and some seniors enjoying the beer.

Yelp
Good People Brewing?!? More like GREAT People Brewing... AmIRight??? I've had a few of their beers at shares with a friend from Bham, but recently had the pleasure of going straight to the source on a recent visit. They were a sponsor at Yelp's Prism Party so I knocked a few back there and then went to the after party hosted by Good People. You walk up to a big outdoor patio and see the Good People moniker in lights outside. Inside is hipster-chic full of reclaimed wood and polished concrete. There's a mile long bar with chalkboard "taps" and plenty of space to spread out with a group. I didn't take the tour because I was tired and I've heard that spiel approximately 37 times but I did get to chatting with one of their reps. Not only did I love the beers Good People are producing, I love the good people themselves. They have a great mission to use quality ingredients to make exceptional beer bringing good people together in life. They also donate ten percent of proceeds to charity... because once again they're Good People! Since then I've been rockin' my Snakehandler shirt and spreading the word of Good People in hopes that they will one day distribute in Charleston too.
google avatar

Chip C.

Yelp
Can't believe I've never reviewed this place. They are in a great location - right next to the Birmingham Barons stadium. I'm not a beer drinker, but I do like hanging out with friends here as the environment is just nice and chill. I know they have a good selection of beers. They have food trucks come by and offer some grub for their patrons as well, which is appreciated. They have a huge outdoor patio area. The inside area is nice as well, but I think most people like the outdoor the most, weather permitting of course. The staff are nice and friendly. I wish they'd offer more cocktails / mixed drinks for those of us who aren't fond of beer.

Luis U.

Yelp
Beers are great, service was also great. Ambience was good until a group showed up to have some sort of motivational meeting with microphones and speakers and killed the whole brewery feel. We thought about just sitting outside and have some food from the hotbox but they were only serving the event! Too bad otherwise I would've stayed longer
google avatar

Robert L.

Yelp
Very cool craft beer venue in the heart of UAB area. I tried a flight which consisted of four 4oz pours of their beers; Snake Handler double IPA, A-Ok IPA (this is a visiting tap from Avondale), Peanut Butter & Chocolate milk stout and a new beer Imperial Honey Head. I taste the three GPB beers tested as above average (their PBC milk stout) I grade 5.0 on Untappd. I plan on bringing a crowler of the PBC home with meA flight at $12 for the quality is a great value. Only drawbacks are limited on site food and parking.
google avatar

Bradley A.

Yelp
Great venue. Wide open space. Live music. Inside and outside seating. Food truck. And a beer selection that is not overwhelming (actually pretty basic) but has what you need and is good.
google avatar

Angela B.

Yelp
This was our first stop on our Birmingham Brewery Tour. Good People is probably the most well-known Birmingham brewery outside of the area. We had tried their beer before and liked it, so we were looking forward to this stop. The venue is very nice. High ceilings, lots of seating, clean, wide-open space. Plus Plus! We were disappointed though with the beer selection. There were nine beers listed on the menu. Of the nine, two were tapped out. Of the seven remaining beers, we had had five of them outside of Birmingham. One of the reasons to go to a local brewery is to try beer that you can't get at a random bar in another state. We left after one beer. At a later brewery stop, we learned that Good People had bought out Avondale Brewery and they agreed that Good People really focused more on distribution than making unique beer for their taproom. Oh well. We tried.

Yelp
Bang for your buck: 10/10 Quality: 9/10 Service: 10/10 Ambiance/Location: 9/10 Overall: 9/10 Great spot for a pint! Perfect location next to the baseball field. The interior has great vibes. A bit industrial a bit masculine. And still cozy! The exterior has ample seating as well! Dogs are welcome inside and out! Bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. There's a huge selection of beers on tap, so no matter your preference, they've got your back. As for food options, there was a food truck while we were there, plus someone ordered a delivery pizza.
google avatar

Joe P.

Yelp
Located just steps away from Birmingham's minor league ballpark, Good People brews solid beer in a spacious taproom that makes it the perfect spot to connect with friends. Their Pale Ale and IPA are both crisp and tasty, and there's a variety of other styles on tap to accommodate every taste. Worth a visit if you're looking for craft beer in Birmingham.
