"Good Seed might as well be Solvang’s city hall. Part coffee shop, part bakery, the busy Mission Drive space is packed with locals, tourists, and passersby, all eager for an espresso drink or cup of drip coffee. The bakery doesn’t disappoint either, with a variety of vegan and gluten-free pastries and toasts. It’s the kind of food and location that makes everyone show up on a busy Saturday morning." - Cathy Chaplin, Eater Staff

Google
Easy 5-Star rating for me. The coffees were delicious. The biscuit was delectable. It was so good that I want to go back and buy some mercy to represent. I came on my first visit to Solvang and when my wife and I come back - we know which coffee place to hit before walking around. Really couldn’t ask for more in a coffee shop. Nice service, thoughtful coffee and food/treat options and great vibe.

Dedication to Coffee excellence. From the equipment to the beans to the skilled barista, they do it all well. Hats off to Mason, our barista at a recent visit, who took the time to explain the nuances of a mushroom-based beverage while he concocted an excellent latte and more. They produce a clean barely filtered coffee with all the flavors and essential oils intact using a Trifecta Coffee geeks will love it The place has a clean funky design that is pleasant enough, if somewhat sparse.. extra points for the outside part of the café covered by a copious Wisteria that, when in bloom, is delightful (late spring early mid summer

Such a cute little coffee shop with a cozy vibe! My husband ordered the dark hot chocolate, which was semi-sweet and rich — definitely for those who prefer something less sweet. If you're more into sweeter hot chocolate, I’d recommend going for the original version instead. I also tried the Monkey Bar since I’ve heard great things about it. While the flavor was nice, it was a bit too dry for my taste — I had to keep sipping my chai just to wash it down. Overall, the drinks were really good, and I’m definitely curious to come back and try more of their menu!

I had a vanilla latte here, and it was delicious! The latte art was amazing, and their mugs were really cute. I usually pick coffee shops based on their latte art, mugs, and overall ambiance. They got a ten out of ten from me!

Google
The peach vanilla bourbon biscuit was fantastic! Good coffee, great baked goods, and friendly folks working the counter. Glad we stopped in to get our day started.

Google
There are so many great things to say about this coffee shop. The coffee is delicious, the monkey bread is to die for, and the crew are so kind! We’ve been here now for a week and feel like locals. Not to mention they are super helpful with recommendations around town and beyond. Their chai is perfect!!!

Google
Great quality espresso and coffee ☕ Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The espresso machine was having difficulties but they ensured that I will get quality espresso shots and not have them watered down. Which I highly appreciated.

Google
A Fresh brew coffee cup by cup. The roast of the coffee is medium and smells like a cacao beans (Americano). Additionally with the selection of pastry which could combine with the coffee. Even though the store is quite busy, it is worth the wait.

Yelp
nice seat, very chill!easy to find. I use it's coffee with the chip from other store

Yelp
Yelp! guided us here when we googled best coffee in Solvang It honestly was really good. I feel like I'm never satisfied with coffee. To be honest, I didn't get coffee, I got a turmeric latte, but it was really good and I tried my boyfriend's coffee, which was also good. We ordered a peanut butter toast to share and it was also pretty delicious because their bread is yummy. It definitely wasn't over sweet because they clearly don't use sweetened peanut butter. I like that, but my man is more of a Skippy, peanut butter lover, so he would've probably preferred that lol. We lucked out because they messed up on our order and accidentally made the Caprese toast so they gave us both. The cashier seemed a little odd... Maybe she was high? I'm not sure, but she was a little odd. The barista did a good job. My boyfriend ordered his coffee, extra hot, and he explained that he made it as hot as possible without "burning" the milk. I'm not sure how easy it is to burn milk, but at least he was being diligent. I do think he should brush up on his latte art skills because it's fun to get a really pretty drink, but whatever. It's better to taste good than look good. Both would be ideal! Overall, I was pleased by my visit.

Yelp
This was such a cute coffee shop in the middle of Solvang! As you walk in, you get the sense of a legit coffee shop. The barista was very friendly and was able to customize my drink. I got a ganache maple iced latte and it was perfection. it wasn't overly sweet and reminded me of a mocha! I already know the next time I'm solving I will be definitely there again!

Yelp
El café que pedí estaba justo caliente cómo Me gusta hasta una flor me pintaron con la leche, el Ambiente muy acogedor , limpio y quienes trabajan ahí muy amables

Yelp
*I could tell this was the cafe where ppl who know and need good coffee visit* Came here on Sunday around 9:30am and the line was snaking out the door. If you scan the QR code you can order ahead, which I ended up finally doing in the line as it was moving slow, but the pickup time was for 10:15am pick up.I did it anyway but then I saw some stuff I wanted to get that wasn't avail online so I added those items when I got to the front. Sad I couldn't get one of the old fermented sourdough breads (they were out of the red/white and the only other one was the walnut one which I didn't want since we have a nut allergy in our fam). I ended up getting the stuff I ordered at the counter faster than the pre-ordered items, though I ended up getting everything before 10:10am. We came here specifically for the vegan baked goods because my son is allergic to dairy and eggs. I also picked up a cinnamon bun here because even though I got one at birkholm's bakery for my husband, the cinnamon bun here looked more to his liking. I wanted him to try both and do a taste test (unsurprisingly he liked the one from good seed better - had more nuanced flavor and the cream cheese frosting made it more interesting than the standard version from birkholm's. Also bonus points that they warmed it up). For my son, we got the pumpkin choc chip bread (which was also gf), the v/gf snickerdoodle cookie, and the kids temp steamer w almond milk and vegan peppermint chocolate. My son loved the moist pumpkin chocolate bread which had the consistency of a very moist banana bread but he really really loved the snickerdoodle cookie, which starts out basic but continues to develop flavors in your mouth. The wait was annoying but we came on Dec 28-29 and the entire town was crowded w holiday joy seeking tourists and every place was a 1+ hr wait the night before when we were trying to find a place for lunch (so we ended up eating at the the new frontier supermarket). For the wait, we thought the food and beverages were excellent and worth the wait. My almond milk latte was perfect. My husband loved his chai latte and my son loved his vegan peppermint chocolate steamer. I'm glad I didn't get tempted to get coffee at other places where we bought baked goods before coming here.

Yelp
Was in dire need of some caffeine while making the trek around Solvang. Saw this place on Pinterest and decided this was the one. There were many people inside, waiting to place an order, looking at their merch and enjoying their Java. They have unique choices of coffee to choose from as well as some pastries. We sat outside and people watched while we enjoyed our afternoon pick me up. They're not open in the evening so if you choose to try it, come in before 3-4pm depending on the day.

Kim H.

Yelp
If you're looking for good coffee in Solvang, come here. We got the turmeric latte, vanilla latte, and breakfast bowl. There was surprisingly no wait (given the wait times everywhere else during this peak season). Service was fast and friendly. Loved that they are dog friendly and we were able to enjoy our drinks warm indoors. Breakfast bowl came out nice and hot. It was a savory treat next to all the sweet Danish pastries we were consuming. There's a nice variety of seating and all spaciously laid out. You can definitely enjoy your coffee at the park across the street too.

Mat A.

Yelp
Limited menu, but what they do, they do it well! I got the cold brew, and it checked all the right boxes. Very strong and high in caffeine like a good cold brew, so be ready to be awake. Inside was cozy. Good place to work. Found some outlets, so you're able to charge your laptop. It's a bit small, so it can get loud. Dog friendly.

Cherish F.

Yelp
Such a cute spot! There's a lot of seating inside and some outside but this place is really popular and fills up quickly. The service and coffee are good.

Alyssa A.

Yelp
Don't know how I've missed this wonderful little coffee shop on my many trips to Solvang! It is such a lovely little coffee shop complete with good coffee and tasty treats. Great nitro cold brew. They had a seasonal pumpkin latte that was not too sweet but a delightful pumpkin flavor. Minimalistic but cute inside with some tables perfect for working or chatting. Also dog friendly. Great stop for a pick-me-up!

Natalie G.

Yelp
One of the best matchas I've had in a long time! It came with a dash of simple syrup, which was the perfect amount of sweetness for me. It was served very hot, which I loved, and you could tell they didn't skimp on the matcha--it was strong and flavorful! The staff was incredibly friendly and made the experience even better. Highly recommend this spot to any matcha lover!

Alejandra P.

Yelp
The place is a vibe. It's central to everything in Solvang. Cute place for a coffee date, studying, or just something to go. The lattes were decent. Wasn't AMAZING coffee but it did its job. Vegan milk options was a plus.

Crystal G.

Yelp
Such sweet people and the coffee was so yummy! I got a blue milk latte with vanilla and it was such a fun and great tasting latte!

Diane M.

Yelp
The vanilla iced latte is great! It's a little on the sweeter side, if you don't like your coffee as sweet I would ask for half the sweetener. The shop itself is spacious and has some seating inside and out

Alejandra B.

Yelp
Our cashier was very friendly, that's always a plus. The barista did a fantastic job. I got the Blue Moon latte and it was delicious, definitely unlike anything I've ever had. The place itself was very spacious and had lot of natural light, I liked the chairs There was also a nice seating area right outside. I'd be a regular if this place wasn't three hours away

Michael R.

Yelp
The Trifecta prep method of the Guatemalan medium roast yielded a cup like a bright yet disorienting jolt to the senses. Under-roasted, it lacks depth, presenting an unbalanced sourness that lingers too long. The body is thin, almost fragile, leaving a watery texture that feels incomplete. It's as if the coffee hasn't fully developed, with a cloudy, murky quality that makes the cup feel unsettled and raw. The overall experience is sharp, unrefined, and lacking the smoothness of a properly roasted brew.

Angelica K.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped by this cute little coffee shop while visiting Solvang, and it was such a nice stop! He got a cappuccino with vanilla, and I tried the turmeric superfood latte. The cappuccino was perfectly made, and my latte was really good--pretty spicy, I'm guessing from the ginger, but still super tasty. I usually like my drinks a little sweeter, so I added a bit of the simple syrup they had by the pickup counter, and it was just right after that! The service was quick and friendly. The guy that took my order was patient and helpful when I asked for drink recommendations. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Solvang and need a coffee break!

Arely C.

Yelp
Best coffee shop in Solvang! The service was welcoming and amazing! We stopped by and were immediately greeted and provided with recommendations . We had the iced vanilla latte it was one of the best I've had! My husband enjoyed his Chai! We got the cinnamon roll and sourdough bread with jam! Delicious for a quick breakfast bite ! The coffee shop was also spacious enough! I loved that there were stools outside to enjoy our coffee. Parking was available behind the shop but I can see how it might be harder to find on the weekends! Highly recommend stopping by! And we will be returning here when we visit Solvang again!

Narine G.

Yelp
Great coffee shop with plenty of options for both coffee and tea, as well as an extensive options of pastries and breakfast options. I ordered online for pick up which was ready within fifteen minutes. The iced lavender latte was the perfect amount of sweet. Also enjoyed the ricotta toast as well as the pesto avocado toast. Friendly service and cute decor as well.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Best latte I've had in a long time! Flavors were limited to basics like vanilla, maple, pumpkin and a couple others that slip my mind. I got a vanilla oatmilk latte even though I'm typically not a fan of vanilla coffee. It was delicious and so smooth.

Jared F.

Yelp
Good coffee, great service and a cool vibe to the shop. Solvang is pretty touristy and this shop definitely delivers with the amount of people that must pass through.

Re R.

Yelp
Such a cute little place. Very nice staff and efficient. Came around lunch time just to enjoy some chai. Didn't get to try any of the treats but they looked delicious.

Jacey H.

Yelp
This place was awesome, you can really tell they care about their coffee. They pointed me in the perfect direction for what to order and I was so happy with what I got. It's the best place to stop and do work or just grab coffee and go. I loved it!

Adriana L.

Yelp
Good coffee with quick service. Really enjoyed the walk to this coffee shop. Paid about 7.50 for a small cup of coffee.

Alexis M.

Yelp
I love trying coffee shops everywhere I visit so I had to try Good Seed's lattes while visiting Solvang. It is a super cute coffee shop with plenty of seating and just gives off very calming vibes. I will say the baristas did give off an annoyed vibe when I ordered but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say it's probably rough working in a touristy town. The drink itself was good, I would say maybe too syrupy but overall it was worth the price. I would recommend giving this place a try and always remember to be respectful when visiting such a busy touristy spot :)

Beth I.

Yelp
The overall experience was really unpleasant amd overwhelming. Attempted to wait in line twice and the line just does not move and there is zero communication from staff- one is running register and prepping food and it makes the wait times LONG. If you're neurodivergent- skip it.

Sunita B.

Yelp
There was a small line in front of us but it wasn't too bad for a Saturday afternoon. Tried the Turmeric Latte and Espresso Tonic. Although I was excited about the Super food latte, I thought it was okay ish. They have a few places with charging ports and free wifi.

Terry C.

Yelp
Soft music and a couple of rocking chairs lead one into a relaxed chill vibe in this comfortable coffeehouse. The decor is mixed old-fashioned with modern touches. Much wood furnishings add warmth to the interior. Friendly and quick service. Nice mix of offerings and many organic treats.

R C.

Yelp
This a quaint cafe. The pesto toast was a tasty and savory treat. The matcha pudding was also good- think it was the homemade granola. Service was courteous and prompt. There are also gf and vegan options. Must stop here if passing through Solvang.

Amina D.

Yelp
Good Seed was such a gem in Solvang! We tried the lavender latte and dark chocolate mocha, and both were amazing. I love the latte art as well. The mocha was a really nice bitter flavor, not sugary sweet like most mochas. You could still taste the espresso. The staff were very kind, and the cafe was very calming. I loved the natural details in the seating and the merch they sold was very cute & wearable. Would definitely come back if passing through Solvang again!

Sara B.

Yelp
Very modern and trendy coffee shop. I love the quality of the to-go cups and sleeves. I ordered a Chai Latte, a Latte for my mom and a cortado for my sister. There were a few small tables and several chairs and then a more lounge type corner with low, rocking chairs. Staff and baristas were nice and service was quick. We sat down next to a nice lady with 2 dogs. So this place is dog friendly. They sell Raphio Chocolate here which was great to see since the home base is in Fresno! I am not sure how many real coffee shops are in Solvang because all the bakeries sell coffee or advertise as a "bakery and coffee shop" but Yelp led me to choose this one and it was a great experience.

Dia N.

Yelp
Super cute little coffee shop! I loved the seating they have, especially the seats that allow you to look out the window and people watch. Came here on a rainy day, and that seat was perfect for waiting for the rain to stop. I was super interested in trying one of the superfood lattes and got the Blue Moon Latte with a shot of espresso. My husband got the Chai Latte. We opted to get both of our drinks hot and added oat milk. Tip: They don't ask if you want milk alternatives, so if you do be sure to ask! The drinks were both good and super cute. I think adding in a shot of espresso to my Blue Moon might've cut some of the original flavor of the butterfly pea powder out of it so unfortunately I didn't get to taste much of the superfood flavor.

Ellianna D.

Yelp
We were stopping in Solvang for breakfast on a drive along the coast, and it would be a disservice to the Yelp community to not comment on how much Good Seed Coffee Boutique was a highlight of not only the morning, but the entire trip. From the first step inside, it was clear that this coffee shop was a community favorite - the baristas knew people's names, children excitedly were begging their parents for their favorite treats, and friends were reconnecting over steaming drinks and good smelling food. The first impression did not disappoint, as our food and drinks were served warm, flavorful, and freshly made (plus perfectly instagram-able, with the beautiful flower vines lining the background of the artfully made lattes). The coffee was rich and delicious, and the food was filling, not to mention absolutely delicious. There may have been some plate licking involved to make the most out of ricotta in the toast. Our only note for anyone on a budget is that the food was expensive. Rightfully so, from the incredible quality, but expensive nonetheless. My partner and I certainly wouldn't be able to afford to make this a routine, but it was a perfect morning treat for an end to a vacation. If you are in Solvang, I highly recommend you at least stop for a drink and a snack, just to experience the local businesses charm, and welcoming community atmosphere. Good Seed Coffee Boutique is the type of coffee shop that makes you want to come back over and over, regardless of the distance.

Yelp
Love Solvang, and the quirkyness of it. But it was SO nice having to stumble upon a trendy-modern coffee spot in a rustic town Immediately saw the beast of espresso machine they have on board, hail to the beans, let's get caffeinated. Also saw the slew of Fellow merch they had so clearly they are not playing with their coffee game Espresso (double) such a clean pull. I'm so sorry I didn't get the name of the barista but the crema was top notch and the espresso with the chocolatey berry caramel was just superb also got an iced chai because why not, perfect balance of cream and chai and chugged that down so fast service was friendly considering I came in 30 mins before close (sis was deperado okay) I can see why they don't have plugs to deter people from perching and growing roots so hey you gotta do what you gotta do Must stop when you're in Solvang if you're particulary picky about grind size, brew, bean and all that nerdy stuff cheers

Joe M.

Yelp
Visiting from out of town and one worker was from the same Southern California area I'm live in. Really friendly, nice mellow vibe and nice interior. Maple latte was good, so was the Americano. Thank you.

Brian F.

Yelp
This place never disappoints. Drinks are always good, but their pourovers are really fine, with limited but well-sourced choices (usually Kenya, Ethiopia, and Guatemala) perfectly roasted. Tastes are so complex, and as advertised, that it would be a sacrilege to defile them with milk or sugar.

Lisa N.

Yelp
Stopped by here during my visit to solvang. I got a drink before breakfast and one after for my drive back to the Bay Area. It was that good. The workers here are so nice. I'm in love with their matcha vanilla latte. It has the perfect amount of sweetness but they keep simple syrup on the side just in case you want to adjust. They use ceremonial grade matcha so the matcha itself was quality as well!

Brenda P.

Yelp
Baristas were kind and helpful. Willing to answer our questions about the offerings with a smile. I will go out of my way for this great service and delicious coffee again.

Jenna g.

Yelp
Very cute little shop in Solvang! I ordered the pesto caprese toast and a dirty chai. Both were delicious. Friendly staff and great ambiance with cozy indoor and outdoor seating.

Brent F.

Yelp
Best coffee in Solvang! Been here multiple times now and the coffee is always great. Staff are very friendly and they have a lot of good baked goods available as well. Parking is generally easy as it's off the main road through town which has a lot of parking on it or on the side streets. Cinnamon bun is really great as well.

Shikha H.

Yelp
Deliciousness in a cup! I loved the vibe of this coffee shop and the servers were very sweet to talk to as well. They have different types of seating which gives it a cute vibe. We ordered our coffee to go but would love to sit and enjoy my drink next time I am back here. I ordered their turmeric superfood latte with whole milk and loved it. It had the perfect balance of ginger, cinnamon and everything nice. They have other options in superfood latte which I am going to try next time. Came here during the Christmas weekend and there was a huge line but the wait was worth it.

Cassidy I.

Yelp
Good coffee! I found it a little pricey at ~$7.50 for a large latte, but the town of Solvang has the typical tourist up-charges so it's not a surprise. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with their online ordering process. I placed an order online to be able to get in and out as quickly as possible due to a time crunch. The online ordering platform stated it would be ready in 15 minutes, but when I arrived the staff said they wait to make it fresh. This is understandable, but I would've gone in and let them know I was there if I'd known this was the policy versus waiting for my expected completion time by walking around the town.

Rebecca G.

Yelp
This place is so cute! The staff were so friendly. They are super busy on the weekends but you can order ahead on their app! Make sure to let them know you are there at the pick up counter. I didn't taste their food but it looked sooo good! Coffee was strong and tasty!

Rick W.

Yelp
What a gem of a coffee shop! I am always in search of the perfect Latte and found it here! We were return customers both days we were in town and also purchased 2 bags of beans to take home! Did I mention they roast their own beans? The owner is so nice and helpful and those lattes, chefs kiss !!!! I am still thinking about that latte days later! Don't miss out! Get that latte and thank me later!

Aman G.

Yelp
We came with a large group and everyone's drinks were perfect and out in no time. The baristas are super friendly and helpful with recommendations and they have a small but quality selection of pastries. We had picked up danishes since we wanted to try some bakeries but their pastries definitely seemed to be better, cleaner options. The interior is also very cute.

Shelly M.

Yelp
Best ceremonial grade Matcha with local honey. Very comfortable atmosphere and fast, friendly service.

Jolie F.

Yelp
This is the second time I have been to this coffee shop in the heart of Solvang! The coffee shop interior is super cute with the decor. Limited seating can be found inside at tables or in a small lounge area. There is also a small patio area out front too for seating! I would love to give this place five stars but I did not quite have the best relaxing experience at this coffee shop- mind you it was a Sunday and St. Patrick's Day in a touristy town! Around 11am, I stopped in for a supposedly quick drink to go. In front of me was approximately three customers ordering. The process was very slow as customers did not know what they wanted to drink- as the full menu is not posted on the wall- there was a small printed menu on the counter by the place where you ordered so everybody would take time to review and order their drinks. In addition the cashier's knowledge of drinks was limited- when I inquired about drinks, the cashier could not provide me information on the shops products. When you are paying significant amount of money for a coffee drink, the employees should know about their products. After finally ordering, I waited 15-20 minutes for my drink. In total for one drink, I was at the shop for longer than 20 minutes from entering the store. This is too long for a drink.

Janet G.

Yelp
Coffee addict here. Wow. This place is cute and delicious. Stopped by here after eating breakfast a few blocks up the road. Held out on coffee at the breakfast spot so I could try this place out. They have a nice selection of coffee and teas along with some pastries. Great place to sit down and read a book or just sit and talk with some friends.

Coffee Thursday ..

Yelp
We traveled to Solvang, CA, and stumbled across Good Seed Coffee Roasters during our hunt for some coffee. The location felt like entering a small town's local coffee shop. They had lots of customers that were either tourists or locals. Solvang had other coffee locations around, but this place received our attention. The coffee shop had a cabin look, which was definitely something we've never seen. There were so many wooden accents and dim lighting to make the ambiance dark. We ordered an iced Chai Latte with oat milk. The drink was heavy on the spices, but not unbearably so. However, the initial sips were a bit surprising, but eventually the water from the ice tamed the spices once it started to melt. The drink became subtle and balanced, tasting smooth and silky from the oat milk and water. We also ordered their iced Vanilla Latte with oat milk. The barista recommended this drink to be one of their most popular. The taste of the coffee (Guatemalan Beans) was rich and the vanilla added a strong sweetness to the drink. Just like the chai latte, once the ice melted, the drink started to neutralize a bit. We weren't sure if their initial tastes were intentional, knowing that the ice would eventually balance it out. This drink would definitely satisfy sweet coffee drinkers. Solvang, CA added a special touch to the coffee shop in terms of location and ambiance. They most likely receive plenty of tourists. They also had a variety of pastries, but unfortunately didn't try them. We specifically went for a coffee run.  If you're ever in the area, try Good Seed Coffee Roasters and let us know what you tried!
