Yelp
It was one of those days on our recent anniversary trip where we were not sure where we wanted to eat, but I knew that I did not want American fare. After all, we had been having lots of seafood and I hadn't had my Chinese food fix yet.
Good Taste Noodle House came up in my Yelp search for Chinese food in Hillsboro, and after quickly sifting through reviews, I decided to give them a try.
The restaurant is tucked away in a corner of a strip mall, and we came to dine in the evening. There were quite a few people eating already, including some big groups, but we were seated quickly.
There were two menus handed to us, one with the actual description and pricing of the dishes and one that was solely a picture menu. Interesting concept! The picture menu was comprehensive, so very helpful for people who don't know what a dish looks like. I only submitted photos of the actual menu since the the picture menu was too much for me to take photos of.
We wanted to share a dish, so I immediately went for the Singapore noodles to share. For my entree, I went with the beef tripe over steamed rice, and my husband went with the stewed beef with dry egg noodles. His dish came with a side soup, which was nice.
The Singapore noodles were delicious! There was plenty of meat and the curry flavor was on point. The wok hay of the noodles was also excellent. Everything was well-balanced. My only comment about the dish was that the noodles were quite short, as if they had gotten truncated during cooking, but at least it didn't detract from the flavor of the dish, just the overall texture.
My tripe dish was so flavorful!! The tripe was braised perfectly, with a thick sauce that paired beautifully with the copious amount of rice that came with my dish. There were also plenty of veggies, which balanced out the richness of the dish.
My husband thoroughly enjoyed his stewed beef egg noodle dish, and mentioned that the soup complimented his food well. The noodles were really bouncy and not clumpy, and soaked up the sauce nicely. His beef was also very tender.
The portion sizes were huge for the price, and we had plenty of leftovers. That worked out perfectly for us as we enjoyed the leftovers for dinner at our Airbnb the next evening.
Good Taste Noodle House was one of those restaurants that I didn't specifically plan to visit on my food itinerary, but I'm so glad we went. We would love to go back to try more dishes when we visit the greater PDX area next!
