Austin’s Best Wine Clubs to Try Right Now - Eater Austin

"The fancy downtown hotel offers a wine club curated by beverage director Andrew Grenz. The Good Things wine club is perhaps the most customizable, with each of its three tiers (Good Things, Great Things, Surprise Adventure) available in red-only, white-only, or mixed." - Erin Russell

Google
Average coffee place. It is clearly an hotel coffee shop: try to get it quick (even it has a line) but not fancy. It gets the job done if you have no time to go somewhere else.

Whitney Mendoza

Google
Cute little cafe with tasty bakery items, to-go salads, sandwiches, and souvenirs. On the first level inside the building. Friendly staff.

Google
This beyond cute coffee shop is a perfect stop for some drink and grub when staying at the Fairmont Hotel. I ordered the Chorizo taco, a Cappuccino and a Cara Mellow. Total was $17, not to bad compared to places like Starbucks. The items in the shop are pretty pricey but I wouldn’t recommend going there for those things specifically. The tacos were flavorful and the salsa they give you is AMAZING. Ask for two cups!!! I got an Iced Cara Mellow which has caramel and vanilla. I don’t know why that combination never occurred to me but lord, I need to get it more because it was flavor heaven in a cup. The staff was nice and helped me navigate the menu and give suggestions. I loved it here and can not wait to come back!!!

Google
This was, without exaggeration, bad bad latte. The milk was overheated to the point that it burned my tongue — a clear sign the staff don’t know how to properly steam milk or prepare coffee. For a café that presents itself as high quality, this is simply unacceptable.

Google
Best croissant we ever ate. Was delicious and was a gem. It was $9 but man o man was it good. Good place to have breakfast. We will definitely be back.

Google
Usually disappointed with hotel coffee but this was actually quite good. The Chocolate croissant was yummy as well but $9 for it is CRAZY. Flavored lattes also ran for $8-9. 4 stars instead of 5 bc of the steep prices

Google
Excellent coffee shop in the fairmont hotel delicious coffee with small bites! would be five stars but it’s a bit pricey in my opinion 7 dollars for an iced white mocha. They have lots of other hotel needs in there like candy and such as well! Very friendly staff and very neat and clean!

Google
I bought a "flat white" at this stale hotel for business people. It was full of foam, too big and served way too hot. It was more like a cappuccino. No point offering a flat white if you don't know what it is! Can't recommend this place for coffee lovers

Yelp
Ok so worth the $8! But find two other people to get the others so you can share haha They were so soft and moist despite looking crackly and Almost even dry. It was so delicious and had a great amount of sweetness. Was not hard to demolish even after a full breakfast.

Yelp
the viral croissants are worth the hype. trust. I was lucky to order the last one as i've heard they sell out super fast by 9-10am every day especially during the holiday season. Taylor and I tried the cherry pistachio and chocolate croissant and we both agreed they were some of the best pastries we have ever had. pretty pricey but definitely worth a try!
google avatar

Yelp
I saw this place getting some hype recently for their pastries so thought I'd try them out. Unfortunately they were out of the croissants by 11am or so, and I got there at 2ish. So instead I tried a peppermint flavored pastry. I was a little unsure about the flavor but it was amazing! Stuffed with peppermint flavor too without being too overwhelming. The pastry itself was one of the best I've ever had. Whomever does the baking here knows what they're doing. The cafe is in the Fairmont hotel. People working there are nice and attentive. I absolutely plan on coming back to try more someday soon, and would recommend others try it out!

Yelp
I was intrigued by the holiday pastries and wanted to give it a try! Pricy, but worth it (most lattes were $9 and the croissants were $7-$8 a piece). A super cute coffee shop and bakery located inside the Fairmont hotel downtown. All kinds of barista drinks, grab-and-go items, cute holiday gifts and boutique stuff to purchase, and a beautiful assortment of freshly-baked artisan pastries. Pro tip: You can self-park in the parking garage for FREE under 30 mins.! QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Street parking (free on Sundays) or self-parking garage (free under 30 mins.). - Reservations? No, this is a bakery/coffee shop for grab-and-go service. - Working space? Not really. There are tables outside of the entrance for hotel guests or to drink/eat, but it's not the kind of place I'd sit in all day. FOOD & DRINK RATINGS: - The Grinch drink (4/5, not pictured): A seasonal frozen frappe drink with matcha, espresso, peppermint, and white chocolate. Honestly so good, the best combo! I only wish they had put it in a cold cup with a straw because I got it in a hot cup with a sip-lid and it wasn't as easy to drink. - Pistachio croissant (5/5): This was so decadent and delicious. The combination of pistachio and cherry were perfection! Buttery, flaky, and soft. A very rich croissant. Giant and fluffy. - Black Forest cherry croissant (5/5): Loved this one, also! Cherry with a white cream and chocolate. Sooo good!

Yelp
fancy and upscale cafe located inside the fairmont hotel. went here to try their festive croissants and it took three times as they run out super early. (we had to arrive at 8am to secure them and they ran out around 8:17am) the presentation is top tier but the taste was okay. the cherry black forest croissant ($7) was a fluffy delicious croissant filled with cream. my personal favorite. the nutella croissant ($8) was a round croissant filled with nutella. loved the festive flavors and presentation but i don't know if it's worth waking up super early and traveling from ut campus.

Yelp
A great new holiday menu with lots choices. I recc the chai nog latte, delicious! Lucia was great in helping me decide the beverage I wanted, great service. They also have a punch like a warm drink very festive. The place is decorated with Christmas goodies to purchase, very nice store.

Yelp
I only went because of their unique croissants, the coffee was just ok and even the croissant looked a lot better than it tasted. Also they weren't the most welcoming people and don't have any actual silverware or plate. Or at least when I asked she said they don't.
google avatar

Yelp
We saw the croissants here on Tik Tok & they were worth the hype! Big enough to share a couple. They were beautiful & the fillings were so good. The pistachio one was our favorite. Only downside was the barista was quite curt, enough for all of us to comment on it afterwards. Maybe she was having a bad day? Good thing the croissants were so good.

Yelp
Good things has the best croissants in austin! We've tried some all over but absolutely love what they do here. It's a bit tough to get to since it's in the fairmont downtown but it's worth it!

Yelp
Lately I've felt a shift at a few places and how customer service has taken a plunge. I understand we are all living challenging lives now more than ever, but a simple smile goes a long way. Obviously i had a less than desired experience here on a busy weekend. The coffee and pastry (though really expensive for a croissant) were actually good and came out really fast. I could come back but given were have to park two blocks over and all the other options, id like to see a little improvement before i try again. Maybe i was just there on a bad day ;)

Yelp
Came in for some standard coffee but ended up getting one of their house specialities called the "Bananaz", which was advertised as a combination of banana, chocolate and espresso in a frozen blend. The taste and consistency was more like a milkshake. Tasty, but definitely seemed more like a dessert. I couldn't really taste the espresso but the banana tasted natural and not like an artificial syrup. It was huge and very sweet so I couldn't finish it. For $9 I wouldn't really get again but it was interesting to try. The vibes at the place are a bit less cozy since it is a hotel cafe and it was a little slow to get my drink but not too bad.

Yelp
Having to anticipate early breakfast before heading to the airport, imagining a very long line at Starbucks or any coffee shop for that matter. I decided to try out this place for coffee and breakfast. They are located in the Fairmont Austin Hotel. Good Things offers Coffee, Tea, sandwiches, pastries, all sorts of souvenirs and merchandise. They are open from 6am-7pm daily. One of my work colleagues recommended and liked the Kolache, For me, it wasn't as spicy as one had said. It was a perfect start to my day. I also ordered a Yogurt Parfait, that itself could have been enough for breakfast. Chai Latte was delicious and just the right amount of espresso. Love the hipster vibe decor and especially the four milk dispensers which I didn't need to use as the barista had included my milk of choice.

Yelp
It's the coffee shop and boutique store for the Fairmont Austin. They serve fresh drinks and small breakfast and lunch items. The refrigerated section has a nice selection of alcoholic beverages along with others like water and tea. Many products are local to the Austin area. The merchandise rotates with the seasons and at this time it was the holidays. It all high quality and many locally provided. If looking for tacky tourist items then this place is not for you. The store hours seemed to be open all day but closed early some nights. The coffee was great. I had the breakfast tacos before and were excellent. There are tables outside the entrance to sit and enjoy your drinks while working or checking social media. Whatever you purchase can be charged to your room.

Yelp
My husband was so excited to know they had kolaches! I had never heard of it before, but just imagine a pretzel dog with soft bread. He said it was delicious! I got a chai latte and their chorizo tacos, which were pretty good but if they added cheese, that would really up the game! The chai was lightly spiced and not too watery. I definitely would want to try their specialty drinks next time I'm there!

Yelp
I'm 7 months pregnant and the hazelnut brownie I got is the best $9 I've ever spent in my entire life. It was like a ferrero rocher candy but in a candy bar brownie form. Sooo good. Also got the salty dog kombucha from the grab and go part which was also super tasty.

Yelp
Nothing special. Expensive as expected. Coffee was not great. I would definitely skip this coffee shop and head out of the hotel for breakfast next time.

Yelp
Apparently Good Things has been around for almost a year now, but I'm not sure why it only now appeared in my Yelp search! I was surprised to find out it was located inside a hotel, but that definitely turned me off a little bit initially. Usually, stores inside hotels are a huge miss. However, I really enjoyed my experience here, and there was a specific barista who was really kind and even gave us a free PSL. My friend and I both ordered the coconut matcha latte, and I'm not a huge fan of matcha. I just wanted to try their specialty drinks. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed it. I am not a huge fan of coconut either, but the flavor of the coconut was nice, and it wasn't bitter from the matcha at all. My only complaint is that they do not mix the matcha in well enough, so when I had the latte sitting out for a while, all the matcha powder settled to the bottom. This shouldn't happen if you mix the matcha with hot water first. Regardless, it's a really cute coffee shop and I haven't been anywhere else that offers such a unique option. Their PSL is also pretty good, but we received a test drink that will be offered soon! Come give this place a try. I don't think you'll regret it.

Yelp
The ham and cheese croissant is solid. Very tasty and hearty. The kolache and chocolate croissants are also very good. Everything was toasted/warmed. The flakey dough was perfect and the kolache bread was so soft and fresh!

Yelp
A lot of good things here between the cafe and the gift store. This place introduced me to Kosmic Kombucha which is realllly good and brewed in Austin. I recommend the Groovy Green flavor for sure. I also grabbed a croissant and chocolate chip cookie for my breakfast. If you're a fan of chocolate, this cookie would be perfect for you. The chips weren't really chips, more like slabs of decadent chocolate. My boyfriend had the Italian Chicken Panini which featured huge chunks of real grilled chicken. I guess I'm too used to the chicken they use at Starbucks which has an odd texture so when I got the real thing here I was blown away. The cafe is really cute and has a bunch of extra special touches including very colourful cutlery, all your coffee accompaniments on tap, and even a latte art printer. The are a ton of fun gifts that showcase the talent of Austin including cookbooks by prominent Austin chefs and chocolates from local chocolatiers. The cafe is more like a shop with no seating inside. There are tables directly outside of it and a casual lounge area with some couches to the side of it. I wanted to sit in the prettier area with the giant tree and the staff there didn't seem to have a problem with that.

Yelp
Located in the beautiful Fairmont Austin, Good Things is the coffee and souvenir destination for hotel guests. We started our day here before heading to the lake to kayak and it was absolutely buzzing. Expect a long line, but it moves quick! Customer service was super friendly and I enjoyed their diverse menu of food and drink options. There were a few unique drink offerings that my husband and I decided to opt for: The pink and green matcha and the espresso lemonade. The matcha was yummy, but I was honestly kind of disappointed there was no pink element to it. I was pretty confused when I saw that my drink was just green (not sure where the pink element was incorporated). The espresso lemonade tasted just like how it sounds, but it was pretty darn bitter. Neither of us were big fans of that one. The star of the show was the kolache we split. Delicious! Very flavorful and well cooked. They have a range of grab and go options like sandwiches, salads, and canned wine. They have a ton of cute branded products and Austin souvenirs there too.

Yelp
Cute spot to hang out and grab a cup of coffee. Ditch the Starbucks and try this coffee spot for a great modern atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
Good Things was a gem in the Fairmont and people seemed to agree as the line was almost always out the door. They strategically place gift items to buy while you wait in line. I got the gluten free blueberry muffin and iced coffee with oat milk and the coffee was definitely the shinning star. For a random little coffee spot, do not sleep on their coffee making abilities. The kolache was ok but the sausage inside was fairly cold as it wasn't heated all the way through. They had a nice tea selection. I really wanted to try an almond croissant but could not financially afford a $12 croissant, I would have to take out a loan.

Yelp
This spot is right inside the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Austin. Great offerings of snacks, coffee and tea. Friendly staff. I had a signature latte and some macaroons and both were really delicious.

Yelp
Cute and convenient coffee stop inside the convention center. They have a variety of coffee based drinks and fruity spritzer drinks to try. I got their iced coffee and it came out pretty quickly, even though they were busy. I also tried an eclair that was filled with a chocolatey (?) cream that was delicious.

Yelp
Prices are ridiculously outrageous. $9 for a taco!?!? Wtf!!! $12 for prepackaged salad?!?!? The cappuccino tastes decent and I'd like to try the food with my coffee but I seriously can't justify paying these prices but I can justify giving this business 2stars!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Flatwhite very good. brownie was delicious, filled with high quality dark chocolate and not too sweet.

Yelp
As someone who travels a lot for my job, I've had a lot of coffee from hotels and of course Starbucks, but their iced mocha was so good that I was compelled to write a review. They actually mix the chocolate in instead of having just a mass of chocolate syrup on the bottom. Also they were super fast and nice too! Strongly recommend.
google avatar

Marlene S.

Yelp
They have cool things here and the coffee is ok. I wish there was more variety of snacks. What I do love is their rippe machine. Ask to add phone on your coffee and the options are cute and endless.
google avatar

Yelp
We came here daily while at a conference. Excellent service ( thank you Alexis!!). Also I am a bit of a coffee fanatic and Cedric make the best cappuccinos ever for me!! I really appreciate a simple and good coffee shop like this!
google avatar

Olive S.

Yelp
Good coffee, nice ambiance. I have to say though, was shocked when I went to pay for an almond croissant! The total was 12.99! I was shocked, because it was the only thing overpriced there... the regular croissant was 4 dollars which seems not overpriced. I felt like there might have been something was wrong with the computer, so I did ask the cashier about it. I asked about it, but the cashier was upset for asking and told me that he didn't "set the prices", and of course I understood that. It was still shocking though and was just asking! I honestly have no idea how adding some almonds to a croissant adds nearly 9 dollars!

Yelp
Pretty decent space, with copious seating space on chairs and long coffee-shop tables in the lobby. They have a decent selection of coffee-house classics, with along with an unique young green coconut latte which is mild and pleasing, as well as a selection of teas from Lot 35 which is exclusive to the Fairmont brand. You always judge a coffee house  - whether one inside a hotel or your neighorhood place, by the quality of their drip or house coffee, and on that metric this place has a weak offering, not only in terms of the variety of roasts and bean origins, but on the flavor as well. Neither does it deliver a pickmeup, nor does it have a flavor profile befitting of an iced americano or latte in the hot Austin weather, and I think Fairmont's lack of attention to this detail might let the coffeeshop down. On the otherhand, just the convenience of having a coffeeshop in a hotel, next to the bustling convention center might be what they are betting on.  I really hope they pay more attention to their coffee though. The pastries  - they look tempting, and while I enjoyed the tart, the Paris-Brest, which I tried lacked the refinement and the flavor profile you expect from such a dainty pastry. Picked up the fruit tart earlier in the morning, and it was well made, so things may be hit and miss depending on what you're getting.

Yelp
All bad. You are a conference center cafe. They had no idea of their inventor. No customer service. No food hygiene protocols. To customer 1, "We're our of all sandwiches (lunch hour). We only have breakfast tacos ready now." Customer 1, "Ok. Breakfast tacos. To customer 3, "We have turkey sandwiches (not on menu)." Customer 1, "So, you have sandwiches?" To customer 1: "They'll be like 20 mins. But the breakfast tacos are ready and quicker." Customer 1, "But I've been waiting 10 mins for tacos. To customer 4, "What would you like?" Customer 4, "which sandwiches do you have?" To 4, "I have an Italian." Customer 1, "That's the sandwich I'd asked for and you said was out. And where are the tacos?" To customer 1, "Oh! They're sitting here." Customer 1, " No one called this out. People have been touching this, as we've all been standing here trying to figure out what is going on. May I have another? They take them away and I watch the prepper reheat and give the same tacos back to me. This place. So many problem.

Yelp
Whether it's coffee or a mimosa and a danish or sausage gravy with biscuits, great place to stop in and grab a quick bite

Yelp
Stefanie was the best barista I ever had! She made a great Misto and went out of her way to find me heavy cream! Starbucks has nothing on Stefanie at Good Things at the new Austin Fairmont Hotel. The hotel is great, too!
google avatar

Ginevra A.

Yelp
This is inside the hotel. I used it because I was at a conference and I was starving. Their coffee is nothing special but not bad either. They only had 2 things to eat, very small. They can benefit from expanding the menu and offering a more local vibe. Maybe getting local coffee in. The service was great.
google avatar

Sophia S.

Yelp
Good pastries, but the barista didn't know how to properly froth milk. A latte tasted like espresso + unfrothed milk + some foam on the top.
google avatar

Guy V.

Yelp
Good coffee, reasonable priced for a hotel coffee bar & great friendly service. Try the Canelle pastries if you're here!

Sam M.

Yelp
Effie is the best! Great options with incredible personalized service. If you need a quick pick me up with a big smile Good Things is for you!
