"EVANSTON— After spending 16 years in Rogers Park, Good To Go, a Jamaican restaurant, has moved across the border to the suburbs. The new location has two bars and a private room. There’s plenty of space for jerk chicken, cocktails, and Red Stripe beer." - Ashok Selvam

The food… the drinks.. the service ! Really good. We came during lunch & had the jerk chicken lunch special so the portions were lunch size but still very filling. We also ordered the jerk ribs dinner which was a bigger portion. Everything so flavorful and seasoned well. We tried a few different drinks on the menu. Henny colada, martinis, margaritas… all made very good. The decor was very cute. The service was great. I haven’t sat down and ate somewhere where I’ve enjoyed literally everything in a LONG time. Can’t wait to come back !

Date night here was perfect, great DJ the food was fantastic. We tried the oxtails for the first time excellent. Catfish dinner too. Highly recommend.

My car was soaked with Caribbean curry sauce tonight. I could not remove the curry sauce from my car seat. I ordered takeout, thinking/assuming if I would lay the takeout dish on my backseat, all is good. Nope, the sauce leaked. One would say that I should put the food on the floor, well it doesn’t matter where I place my takeout dish. The establishment must believe and trust that takeout (including delivery services) will not experience the same problems. Wrap the containers up, and care for your food and clients.

I ate there many times before and it was no complaint. However, this time, I feel like I received a lunch plate as a dinner but paid forty-five dollars and twenty cents. Hmmm. That is my last time buying there. I would understand that price, if I was being entertained, or/ and enjoying the atmosphere. It was also service with no smile..ugh. Moreover, I had better food for less. Mi caah believe dem ah do we like dat. Smh. Di place nice but di food to expensive.

If you want an up scale Caribbean dining experience then I would suggest that you head to Good to Go. There is a parking lot right across from the restaurant that you can access. We had the jerked Lobster Tail for our entree and it was delicious. This is the type of place that you want to take a date and have a nice island experience. I would recommend that folks dress up a little and do not come like you just rolled out of the house. This is a Black owned restaurant and I would gladly support it for special occasions and date nights. I have been reviewing restaurants for years on Google and the negative reviews associated with this restaurant are NOT valid. You can look at my review history and see that I am well traveled to the Caribbean so I know Caribbean food. This is a restaurant that will be getting my repeat business. One Love.

Google
Came here for a celebration on the menu I started with their beef patties were really good and had good flavor and a hint of spiciness I like 8.5. The rum punch wasn't bad neither had a nice kick to it 8.6. Also had their old-fashioned which was cool too 7.9 is not a typical drink here but it wasn't too bad. The red beans and rice were kinda dry and some of the rice was hard 7.1. Plantains delicious 9.5. The cabbage was decent 8.4. The oxtails were delicious 9.0, the meat was falling off the bones and the flavor was on point. The overall spot is nice with a big size dining area and music playing in the background it was a vibe 8.5.

I always come back for the service. I never have complaints about it. I always sit at the bar or the rooftop when it's open. Recently, they decided to remove the oxtail rolls from the menu and that was also 1 of the only reasons I go because besides those I know better tasting Caribbean restaurants. I'm not so sure I'll take the drive to go here now. Jerk chicken and estovitch are good. My friend wasn't a fan of their seafood pasta. I always get the oxtail gravy on the side because the rice and peas are always dry

It has been a while since we have come here. But my husband and I came out since we have always really liked the food at this restaurant. The reason why I am giving 2 stars: -Menu: they didn’t have many of the things on the menu. We had asked for at least two different appetizers (once we were told our first option they didn’t have it). We had originally wanted loaded nachos, didn’t have it. We then asked for beef patties. Didn’t have it. So then we asked what did they have and they gave us few options. Would have been nice to know right off the bat that they’d be short on things on the menu. We went with the jerk chicken rolls. -Food: I ordered salmon sliders with Mac n cheese. The Mac n cheese tasted good but it looked very old and not fresh whatsoever. Poor presentation My husband ordered brown stew chicken. The chicken was burnt! Everything else was fine. -Dessert: we were looking at the menu for dessert when told that they have NO desserts other than ice cream. Then the food is pretty expensive! It is more expensive than it was 2 years ago. They have the nerve to add an 18% gratuity automatically and still ask for additional tip , and it’s already expensive. Something to think about. We were disappointed this time around.

Yelp
We ate her about 2 years when we were meeting family in Evanston. Today, we met those same family members who have developed a love for this restaurant. I can only speak for me and my wife's meals, but based on simple observation, the other family members enjoy their meals. My wife ordered the grilled salmon with rice and peas and steamed cabbage. My wife thought the salmon was good, but a bit dry. She felt the rice and peas needed a gravy, she and I loved the steamed cabbage. I got the 2 piece curry chicken with steamed cabbage and sweet potatoes, the meal was pretty good. We also ordered Jamaican egg rolls with some kind of peanut sauce, they were quite tasty, they were a bit salty but still delicious. I got a regular lemonade which was very good. My wife had water. During our meal they featured a DJ, now to some people they maybe put off by the loud music. Most of the patrons appeared indifferent to the music, I absolutely loved it. The DJ's name was DJ Montana, she possessed an incredible mastery of many genres of music, she was simply incredible.

Yelp
Came by for a sponsored event but I was early and enjoyed a drink at the bar. I ordered Vodka & Cranberry as it was discounted for Happy Hour. Bar area is bright. Service was quick. My bill included 18% gratuity. I really dislike when this is added automatically. I like to tip in cash. Anyhoo, place is lovely. Hope to come patronize this Black owned business for brunch. I noted they advertise a mimosa package and the owner stated they have oxtail omelet.

Yelp
Had brunch with a friend and we had a great afternoon catching up on work and life news. Came for the shrimp grits, jerk wings and patties (sold out). Pros: I like the atmosphere of this place. Bright colors inside and outside! Great vibes, couches are comfortable, art work on walls is amazing. I saw a sign that there is a parking lot across the street for customers If taking public transportation, red line Howard exit is a couple blocks away. Roof top is a wonderful aspect of Good to Go! I had the pleasure of attending several private parties and rooftop staff and bar staff are lovely! Cons: customer service in restaurant. One of the bus boys was sweeping the floor around us when we were first seated. I told him to move because my phone charger fell by my feet and I did not want him to sweep my phone cord. He also did not know the menu when we asked for brunch menu. We were told menu online/Google was not their current menu. Wait staff took their time to obtain our order. The wait staff also only gave us only 1 creamer for coffee and was told it was the last creamer, milk was provided. Plus the place does not provide free refills of coffee. The atmosphere and food makes up for the customer service. I would visit again to try drinks at the bar.

Yelp
Many years ago, I stopped by Good To Go when it was in its old location. The food was good. Being Jamaican, I tend to cook Jamaican dishes at home, so I hadn't been back. Fast forward to the present, the restaurant has a new location on the north side of the street. Very good food, large, and surprisingly empty. The beef patties scored big points. They're full of minced beef, proper spicy, and flaky like the beef patties I get whenever I go to Brooklyn. The brown stew chicken, steamed cabbage, and rice and beans also worked for me. I tip my hat to the bartender because the rum punch was lit. Where I back off on giving a 5-star rating is with the automatic 18% gratuity. I understand that restaurants bake in gratuity for large parties. I was solo. Service was outstanding, so my server deserved it. However, the automatic tip assumes service will be top every time. Perhaps there was mention on the menu. I missed it since the menu was accessible via barcode, and fine print may have not been presented immediately. Nevertheless, food and drink were outstanding.

Yelp
While the look and feel of this restaurant is good on a Friday night. The music on point a calm warm welcoming Jamaican vibe. The ox tails are not worth the dynamic pricing of 40.00. The price on the menu should be the price charged. The Mac and cheese ( with 1.00 up charge ) shouldn't have the day old reheated look, and the dish it's served in should be full. As should the steamed cabbage although not a full bowl still juicy. My meal wasn't that bad and was good The starburst drink was very good and not iced or watered down. once I realized the ox tails didn't come with rice and switched my Mac and cheese for rice and peas. My meal felt more home grown. And the Carmel cake although a tad on the dry side was worth the 9.00. Please note to support its workers this restaurant has an auto gratuity of 18.00%.

Yelp
As my first Yelp event of the year, this was such a great one to start off at! I've never had Jamaican cuisine before, but WOW everything that was put out for us was so delicious we had so many food items to choose from and it was such a good vibe and the outcome was great for a Wednesday night! I got to meet so many amazing people and I'm very grateful that I was able to come to this event. The inside is beautiful and I can't wait to go back and listen to live music or even have a drink or two up on the rooftop or courtyard in the summer everyone who works there is so sweet and accommodating!

Yelp
It's unfortunate that I have to leave this review. I visited on Saturday for an early Mother's Day brunch with my mother and sister-in-law, and the service was disappointing. We had a reservation but the restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived. We ordered entrees for 5 adults, and pancakes and mac and cheese for my 2 kids. Two people from our table ordered fried chicken dishes. The wait for our food was unreasonably long. It was such a long wait that eventually I had to ask them to at least bring out my kids' food. It was over an HOUR between the time we were seated to when our food arrived. And then, after that long wait, my husband's fried chicken was undercooked - it was still pink inside! And the other fried chicken entree was too salty. The waitress never came to check on our table the entire time. The drinks we ordered were never refilled. And still, the restaurant was fairly empty, so I don't know what could have possibly taken so long for our food. They were nice enough to take the uncooked chicken off our bill, though.

Yelp
Good to go, and good to enjoy in as well! Good to Go gives you a taste of the Caribbean right in the backyard of the Chicago North Shore. Located in Evanston, the restaurant gives you a taste of the city without having to go downtown. With the homey asthetics and the endless picture opportunities the vibes are immaculate. When parking, there is a parking lot located right across the street for free rather than paying for street parking. They do have limited spots available but it is free if it's available otherwise it's only a few dollars for a few hours of parking. I got to try the Jerk steak tacos today and let me just say the flavors were out of this world! From the juiciness of the steak to the delicious salsa each bite was better than the last. There were no crumbs left to spare, and when I got home I wanted more already! I can't wait to try more of their dishes, and of course their drinks! I've heard nothing but great things about their rum punch! Yummy! :)

Yelp
The food is amazing. Plenty of space. Good service. Good drinks. The jerk chicken skillet is awesome for sure and so are the jumbo wings

William M.

Yelp
Our first time at this AMAZING establishment. We had the the jerk chicken and salmon. Hakeem gave us attentive service and he made some great margaritas. We will be back.

Yelp
Never ever eat here!!!! Rice old and dry. Worst jerk shrimp I ever had. Goat soup didn't have enough goat!!!! The greens didn't have any season and appeared to be out of the can!!! Worst food in the city!! I would give them negative stars if I could!!! Also over priced to be serving this absolutely trash food!

Micah B.

Yelp
First time here and everything from the dj music to food and ambiance was on point. Definitely recommend. Food was delicious. I will be back for live music. Saturday afternoon 2pm was the best time ever to go! Thank you for experience. I got a chance to meet the owner she was very personable. Jeanette and Shanice keep being great. And the DJ was !!!!!

Yelp
We came here on the suggestion of an acquaintance after a celebration. She described it as 'upscale Jamaican'. We ordered drinks, asking for house wine and well drinks, noting that there is a Happy Hour menu between 4-6, where house wines and well drinks are listed $6 and $8. It was around 5pm. The appetizers were good, I did not try the jerk nachos, but I did get a jerk wing. It was not super spicy, but it was well seasoned with a kick. We wanted collard greens but they were out, so we ordered callaloo, a similar leafy green dish. I liked this better than the greens! The fried chicken, plantains and rice were all good. I think I like the chicken best of all. Moist but not greasy, maybe a tad salty though. I wonder if the menu was more 'upscale southern/creole' than Jamaican. For dessert we ordered rum raisin bread pudding (they also have rum raisin ice cream, which I suspect may be Haagen Das.) I would like to try the grape nut ice cream (no it's not the cereal!) next time. The rum raisin bread pudding was DEF worth the trip (no whipped cream but ok). the reason I have 3 stars, when I'd rather put 3.5 instead of my usual 4, was the drinks/bill problem: we were charged FULL PRICE for our drinks! We told the waitress, who was pleasant and informative, that we thought the drinks would be discounted. She said we have to ASK for the discount, or tell them we are ordering from the Happy Hour Menu! THey didn't have a separate Happy Hour menu, but we saw a list written as 'house wine and well drinks'. I forget where we saw the term Happy Hour, but we assumed that ordering during Happy Hour was enough to warrant the discount prices. Our bread pudding was not included on the bill, and when I pressed the issue about the drinks, she did comp us. Since we were a sizeable group our tip was already added, and the manager (owner?) checked on us. We did not bring up the drink issue. The atmosphere was quiet for a Monday pm, and we liked the tvs showing news. We took food home and really liked it, but I'd maybe opt for carryout if I go back.

Yelp
My sister and I decided to take the hour drive to try out this Jamaican spot. It was quite a drive but worth it . We started off with the wings appetizers which can see from the photo we devoured . We were really hungry . For the entree I had the oxtail and my sister had the jerk bbq ribs . My sister and I agreed that my meal was better . For dessert my sister had the rum cake that was absolutely disgusting in her words "it tasted like rat poison". I also had one of their cocktails and I will say if I didn't cut myself off I wouldn't have been able to drive home as the drinks were really strong . As far the waitress she was ok kept forgetting to bring my sister water . As far as the ambiance we went on a Friday night and they had live music and they were quite good . Overall o would actually give it a 4.5 . Will definitely visit again

Nadine S.

Yelp
Very nice waitstaff. Food took a long time. And when it finally came it was disappointing. Chicken Caesar salad was very watery. Chicken wings were dry and 4 wings for $10, seems a bit much Rib tips were overly salty and rice was bland. Limited metered parking Not sure I'll be back soon

Renee R.

Yelp
Came as a walk in, the place was empty but we still had to wait a bit. This place is decorated VERY nicely, it's modern and stylish. Loved that. The waitress was very nice, they ran out of Mac and cheese or college greens when we went but it was okay, the other sides were still good. The portions were honestly a little small for the price, we later realized we were only given the luxe menu which is why it was so expensive. I would order from here again honestly but maybe not off the luxe menu. The lamb chops were good but again the price was lent worth 4 tiny chops. They have an area for a live band, I think this place would be better during later hours.

Moy G.

Yelp
Food takes a while to get to your table, but I tell you, you won't regret waiting for it. Please try the Ox Tail- it's prepared like a stew. So delicious I leave no meat on them bones. Drinks are ok. Food options 100% worth trying. The place feels like a night club, but it's very nice and elegant.

Ethan Y.

Yelp
[Good To Go Jamaican] Jamaican cuisine restaurant hosting Jamaican and Caribbean inspired dishes. Local business, restaurant in the day and music venue at night I was gonna try their Jerk Rib Tips but they were out so I ended up getting the Curry chicken. Comes with 2 sides so I got the rice & beans and the candied yams. Hands down one of the best restaurants I've reviewed. The chicken was fall off the bone mixed with the rice and curry. The candied yams was the best I've ever had literally. 10/10 place. https://www.goodtogorestaurant.com 711 Howard St Evanston, IL 60202

Yelp
I came here one night for dinner. On this particular night they only had seating on one half of the restaurant due to a market/ vendors using the other side. The owners were there and were really nice and welcoming. We were able to be seated right away and the staff encouraged us to check out the vendors. They have indoor and outdoor seating. It was cold out so we decided to sit inside. We ordered drinks and looked over the menu. Everything looked so good! But I decided to go with the curry shrimp dinner. The food didn't take long to come out. I will definitely be back when I am back in town.

Chavalier N.

Yelp
If you're looking for a fancy place this isn't it. The look is fancy but when you're inside you can tell the difference from being downtown. You may find a celebrity or two but it's not a place you get fancy for but you can be fancy if you like. I recommend for downtown pre-gaming, casual dining, & a nice brunch if you live in Evanston; or close to. It's the summer so check their social media for sponsored events, which can come with free drink samples. If you're looking for a turnup vs speak easy and/ or upbeat & chic, this is your spot. The soups are always good i definitely get the soup when I'm around. I have a few friends that live that way so it's a cute to point. Service is spotty depending who's working but if you snap they will snap back lol. The customer is always right depends on the mood. Next time I head in with the girls I'll post pics of what I got. Happy dining.

Beatrice D.

Yelp
The food was okay. I stopped by with my brother for brunch and unfortunately, by the time we got there, they were out of ox tails. I was a little disappointed at seeing other people receive there orders before us although we were sitting before them and we were also a group of two so it wasn't like we had a massive order in comparison to the other group of two people. The other thing that threw me off was the automatic gratuity. I've experienced that while in other establishments and I feel like it takes away from the potential customer service you'd experience if they had to work for the tip rather than it automatically being included with my dining experience.

Yelp
What a Great Place to Celebrate Your Best Friend's Birthday! Good to Go in Evanston, IL. will have you cross the boarder of Chicago to experience some really good Jamaican cuisine. In fact, this place will have you come back for the Great Customer Service, alone. When a restaurant has servers like Cleopatra and Kayla who are warm, welcoming and knowledgeable; you know that you are about to enjoy your experience. On 2/8/2023, Cleopatra and Kayla served us steak and jerk lobster tail, the Jamaican National Dish: ackee and saltfish, yams, rice and beans, steamed cabbage, vegetable spring rolls, festival (fried sweet bread that's taste like a really moist cake donut), and rum punch mimosas! (Let's just say, I am excited to write this review, but I am very sleepy. There's nothing like being in a food coma.) My best friend and I enjoyed every morsel of the food, and will be returning to indulge in more! This restaurant has live entertainment, especially on the weekends. We have to go back to be apart of the action while eating jerk chicken and beef patties, of course. My best friend really enjoys this restaurant, and she traveled quite a distance to enjoy her Birthday cuisine. Now, she has me hooked. But it's worth it. Thank you, Good to Go, for helping to make my best friend's evening a special one!

Brianna P.

Yelp
Delicious flavorful foods, the jerk seasoning has just the right amount of heat. I always love fried plantains! The servers are quick and helpful! This place feels hip for late night drinks, though on a crowded night it is a bit loud. I would love to come back to try their brunch menu!

Munsanje M.

Yelp
We went for happy hour and online they advertised jerk wing specials. However the only food specials were cheese nachos and fries. The jerk nachos only had jerk on the side and we got the chicken jerk pasta which didn't have jerk on it all, it unfortunately lacked flavor. The plus side was the drinks were very strong so I would recommend going for a drink. The drinks range $7-10 during happy hour.

Mark W.

Yelp
Stopped by restaurant on our way back to Michigan, let me just say this place is the absolute real real deal 100% Jamaican pure authenticity. Miss Sonia cooking just like I'm home in Jamaica. Got a chance t meet her and her purity shines like her cooking. Thank you Miss Sonia for taking us down memory lane.

Kevin E.

Yelp
The restaurant still uses QR codes for their menu so be sure to bring your phone .. They charge 18% gratuity on parties of 2 or more .. how they get away with this is unknown. Seems like theft to me. Food was okay, nothing to go back for. Ambiance nothing special. Service average. Will not go back and would not recommend.

Diana B.

Yelp
Been here many times for live music, food and ambiance. It's a classy but chilled out atmosphere. Indikka reggae band played for a few hours setting the vibe. Come as you are or dress up a bit. As far as food, everything was tasty. They were out of a few items (jerk wings, jerk ribs and beef patty) we wanted but ended up splitting coconut shrimp, oxtail rolls and jerk chicken dinner. Drinks good but a little pricey. Rooftop is fun but wasn't open this visit. 100% recommend reservations.

Terri B.

Yelp
Every thing at this place was AWFUL. When they were a little hole in the wall the food was GREAT!! As soon as they expanded the service and the food became AWFUL. I have never in my life feed a six year old fish with bones. I paid over hundred and twenty bucks for GARBAGE!! Tried to contact the owner Lenise was not available any of the four times I called. Please save yourself. The Taste of Jamaica is a much better place for Food.

Maya M.

Yelp
Going off reviews here and on tiktok I was very iffy about going here but I cannot understand how this place could have one single bad review! Every single part of the evening was absolutely perfect to the service, drinks, music, and food! This will definitely be my new spot and will recommend it to everyone!!

Jason S.

Yelp
This place is much nicer than I expected for a Jamaican restaurant. Be prepared to wait, even if there aren't many people in the restaurant. I ordered the jerk chicken lunch special. A little surprised by the portion size. I would have liked to see a little more food for the price. Aside from the things mentioned, the flavor of the food is very good.

A A.

Yelp
Been getting takeout/ coming here since we moved here in 2020 and it's always a hit. Truly a neighborhood gem -- excellent food, amazing hospitality, incredible bar menu and bartenders. The space is beautiful and during the warm weather it's the perfect spot. Live music, the game will be on at the bar, some of the best jerk in chicago. Nothing but love for Good 2 Go

Cynthia H.

Yelp
Great food service and ambience I was so surprised for whatever reason to see how elegant this establishments is. I will be going back Friday because they have a live band that starts at 8:00 and I'm sure it's going to be even better. The waitress we had she was fantastic she explained everything suggestions I can't say anymore it was the bomb I have to say if you haven't been there you need to go.

Shequira A.

Yelp
I celebrated my birthday with brunch at Good to go this past weekend, and they did not disappoint! I love the Rum Punch Mimosa so we ordered the tower and it was more than enough for everyone. I usually get the red snapper but this time I tried the ox tail omelette. It was pretty good. Most importantly, every time I come here the service is always so kind and it was even better for my birthday. it's safe to say this is one of my new favorite spots. Thank you to the management team because Caribbean restaurants don't have the best reputation for customer service but that is not the case here. I love it! Ps - the Bees on the rooftop love perfume, flowers and rum punch so be aware lbvs

JenJenn S.

Yelp
I'm impressed! The food was fresh & delicious. I was disappointed in the Rum punch, it was in a small glass and the mixture was off! I could taste the ginger beer(which was different) I love a good Rum Punch especially if made with Wray & Nephew I had Ackee & salt fish with fried dumplings & plantains. Very flavorful and good temperature. I was impressed with the clean presentation (I was curious about how it would be presented in a resturant style setting) so I was really impressed with how upscale the dish was presented. The atmosphere & ambiance was great! It was Chic & comfortable very different from other Jamaican restaurants I liked the flare. I would definitely go back & have something different or maybe the same dish (since it's my fav & they made it correctly).

Kennedy W.

Yelp
SUPER AESTHETICALLY PLEASING RESTAURANT. Walked in, immediately treated with staff. PROGRESSIVE BLACK BUSINESS! Great energy, amazing customer service from the front door to my server. They treated me so well. EARLY 90s/2000s R&B/ Afrobeats music in the background. Even found a new tune for my own playlist. The food was impeccable. I'm going to be thinking about oxtail all week now. So soft, tender, the brown sauce is delightful. You will spend a pretty penny but it is worth the experience and food. Friday nights are hosted with live music. Recommend visiting that day to catch the full experience here. Their brunch is highly praised by staff and locals. DEFINITELY COMING BACK on a Friday or for Brunch! Hope you do too

Khadijat B.

Yelp
This was my first time having Good to Go! The ambiance was nice but the food wasn't my favorite. They had a nice Jamaican playlist and some cool art. The service is great and our waiter was attentive. Now the food. The rib tips my partner originally ordered were cold and tough. He asked them for the jerk wings instead and he really enjoyed them. The greens were very tasty! I enjoyed them! I got the oxtails.. they were okay. Just very fatty barely any meat. The max and cheese was bland and the cabbage wasn't anything to brag about. I will give it another try because I see the potential! Maybe it was just a bad day in the kitchen.

Paul C.

Yelp
Dog friendly and good service. Bbq jerk chicken dinner was good but not really full of the jerk flavor. The JERK CHICKEN SANDWICH was just sliced turkey and had no jerk flavor or sauce. Had American cheese and mayo on it (missing this on the menu) and had it taken off the bill as it was not as noted on menu. The goat curry was delicious and full of flavor; but the rice and beans was very dry. Happy hour margaritas @ $7 each was simply margarita mix on large ice cubes. Couldn't taste any liquor. Finally although great service, but one does not remove dishes from a table and pile them up on the table scraping each plate on to one on the table. Poor edict. Manager was there but never came out to advise on the problem. A fair rating well earned. Plus they add 20% gratuity to every bill. Diffidently not worth the $90 bill.

Jason H.

Yelp
This place has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in the city - - we just happened upon it, ordered some jerk chicken, rib tips, vegetable curry with sides of candied-yams, cabbage, and plantains. All of it was perfect - - not just good - - exquisite! We will be back.

Yelp
Food is delicious here but the prices are a little outrageous now along with automatic tip being added makes this a place to avoid until retweeking...I mean at the end of the day this is jerk chicken with rice and beans...So how does a party of 2 end up with a 250 dollar bill eating chicken and rice...lol Ok we had 2 appetizers...2 entrees, desert and 2 drinks but still...250 bucks for jerk chicken Once again the food here is very good but you will feel bad spending so much money on this and trying to sneak in gratuity on the bill is a big no no...I heard 2 other tables complain about the same thing so it's not just me...And we still left a tip on top of this... This restaurant needs to drop this policy asap or they will definitely lose business...On tables of 6 or more I get it but tables of 2...huh? Btw one food complaint...Plaintains are awful here...Dry and lifeless and flavorless....And they give you a big portion so it's more of a bad thing.

Yelp
This food was delicious! And that comment doesn't even do it justice. The chicken is as tender and literally falling off the bone. Service was incredible and just a perfect experience.

Yelp
This is my second review of Good To Go, I think the other was 2022 or 2023. Went for dinner last night, September 2024. With just 2 of us, we were charged 18% just for sitting. I did tip but included the 18% in my calculation. This is usually for a party of 4-5 or more, but two people and bad service (see below? The good is the oxtail rigatoni was thoroughly enjoyed for seasoning, pasta and tenderness of the oxtails. I ordered the vegetarian plate with macaroni and cheese, collard greens and rice/beans. The collard greens needed salt which I added. The rice and beans were excellent. The macaroni and cheese was gummy and the cheese had a sweet aftertaste or maybe it was a seasoning, but too odd to eat. My biggest issue was the same as the prior time there. SERVICE. The service is bad. We were seated and waited 15 minutes for someone to ask if we wanted a drink or order. Two different servers nodded to us and said they were sorry for the delay. There was a large birthday party but as I said the last time. If you do not have enough staff to handle a party and other guests then don't seat them. After two bad experiences with service I won't be returning a third time, even if the food is good. Service to me is respect and quality and the 18% fee is unacceptable.

Yelp
Solid for the most part first time trekking to Evanston for food but the social media postings from this restaurant drew me in! Date night for my husband and I have become priority whenever we are both free we lead very demanding careers so as lovers of Jamaican cuisine and Rum punch we had to check it out. We looked over menus prior but when we sat down the waitstaff informed us about a 4 course dinner special but it included steak as main entree ,baby I didn't drive HR for steak she tried her hardest to sell the 4 course if I ask for suggestions please feel free but it was kinda annoying for her to keep giving her input . In a foodie I research I know what I want ! One think I didn't like was it was one only beef patty left for the night I ordered 2 though ,she bring the driest inedible hockey puck to the table Geez ,I asked nicely to have it disposed if and removed off the bill So hubby ordered the oxtails with cabbage and rice peas my order was bbq jerk chicken white meat with Mac and cheese yams and rice and peas and appetizer of wings since the patties were out. The oxtails 5 stars ,bbq chicken 4 stars yams 2 stars not good to my liking , Mac 3 stars , cabbage 5 stars a winner, peas and rice need some sauciness just bland. The entrees do come with 2 sides but very small portions and rice and peas are not standard they count as a side. So on Fridays is a live band I was so excited I emailed and DM for start time both times I was told 7pm wrong the band came on at about 815 There were too many people on stage during a whole lot of nothing. I made the assumption that it was reggae music but it was more like old '70s music not my speed so we left. The restaurant was getting busier and stopped sitting the patrons every other table and started squeezing people in 3 ft table space I felt uncomfortable with social distancing being ignored Advise to get there early

Yelp
I usually dont like to Yelp anyone's place of business however; today 7/23/2023, We went here for brunch on the recommendation of a friend. I ordered a Johnnie Walker Black and coke and received Johnnie Walker Black and bloodclaat melted ice, more like Johnnie Runner and water. My drink was an 1/4 glass of Johnnie Walker and Coke. I'm saying to myself did they just bring me someone else's drink that they didn't finish? WTF... I had to adjust for it 3 times. They never got it right! I also had to ask her to wipe the table off because there was a huge wet spot where we sat down. Then add insult to injury they added a 28% gratuity for a party of 3 when we ordered a few drinks, jerk nachos and jerk chicken. This is not bloodclaaat Grance where the meal portion is way small for an exuberant price. The bill was ridiculously high for what we actually got. SUCK UNU BLOODCLAAAT MUMMA. Service was way below substandard. I wish I could've given them a quarter star ratings. As a Jamaican, I see that every weh we guh as Jamaicans we are always pon some get rich quick scheme by overpricing things when there's no need fi dweet (no need do it). We are at the Signature Lounge and paying a lot less and getting excellent service. Bout Good To Go. Unu need fi Guh outta bloodclaaat business.

Yelp
Just a reminder: PLEASE thoroughly check your bill before paying. I went to Good To Go with my two daughters on Sunday. Myself and one of my daughters ordered appetizers. My daughter ordered ONE patty. Even though I actually looked over the bill before paying, I was charged for two additional patties "to go", which I did not order, and did not receive. I did not notice this error until after I got home. I feel kind of stupid because I actually checked my bill before paying and totally overlooked this charge. If I really like the waitstaff, I will leave an extra tip even though gratuity is automatically added. I am so thankful I didn't leave an extra tip. I would be feeling even more embarrassed and stupid.

Yelp
Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Food: A good Jamaican restaurant in Evanston?? YES! I was soooo surprised at how great this restaurant is. They have 2 vegetarian options that are vegan friendly. The vegetable (vegan) curry was on point!! The flavor was out of this world and the portion sizes are huge! I was beyond happy with my choice. Service: The server answered all of my questions and was very helpful in making sure my food was vegan. The place is adorable with good music and vibes!

Yelp
Toya our server was awesome. I ordered the oxtails and rum punch. The oxtails were amazing. I had noted there was no salt and pepper on the tables and now I know why. The foos is perfectly seasoned. My aunt had the catfish and it was delicious and fresh. The rum punch was powerful and tasty. I will return.
