Got here at 2:30pm on a Saturday. The wait was about 15 min for a table. We ordered a French toast dish, living on the veg omelette, and flapjacks. The French toast tasted good not too sweet which is a pro! The omelette was also good. The milkshakes and hot chocolate were good. However the flapjacks (pancakes) were the worst pancakes I’ve ever tasted in my life and I’ve had a lot of pancakes! The texture and flavor were both disgusting and not even butter and syrup made them taste good. Just awful.

I don’t know if we were there on an off day or what, but unfortunately, we were not impressed with the food or the service. We only waited 20 mins on a Sunday at lunch time for a table of 2. It took a long time for our server to get to us. She was pleasant but not attentive. It took almost an hour to get food. We both ordered the Hangover. The biscuits were dry and everything was unseasoned. We added salt and hot sauce to everything. The upside, very diverse menu w/ vegan options available with reasonable prices. It’s a cute place in a very nice area. There are a lot of little shops to check out while you’re there.

Wow! What an amazing place! We waited maybe 5 mins for a table and we were serviced right away! This place had everything! And as someone who is a coffee lover, having their iced latte was AMAZING! Great portions and nothing is spared!

Google
This place has a great selection of very interesting foods to choose from. The menu items are named after movies and TV references. The bacon was not so great, but the biscuits and gravy are to die for! The Bourbon Street French toast the Rocky mountain omelette and the hippie hangover we're also incredible. Cali was our waitress and even though they were full and busy she stayed right on top of everything and got us everything we needed when we needed it! Do yourself a favor and try the tacos. Literally, try all the tacos.

Food was good... Service was a bit slow. I think no we were on a rush, maybe it was perception only (the slowlyness) ...

Google
Food was good, many options but as a diner I was expecting some fruit at least. Most of the options were heavy meals and I was not in the mood but settled with a salad. Coffee was great! There is a wait but we only waited for 20-30 minutes. Place is next to a cute shopping area of Lansing. Service was 10/10. Dishes were delicious but since my dish was more plain, it’s what you could honestly make at home. There’s a coffee place attached to the restaurant if you don’t want to eat in. Would I go out of my way for this? Probably not but if I’m in the area and want good coffee, I would recommend.

Google
Tried this place out for lunch today! Highly recommend! Tried the Steak Fiesta Burrito! It was really good! They have a variety of coffee lattes! The waffle fries were also really good! Loved the retro vibe! The new location has lots of space. Be prepared to wait for a table on the weekend it was about 40 minutes! Overall we will be back! Try this place out!

Google
Went to eat breakfast after our walk. The food is good. They also make coffee drinks. Prices are reasonable. The restaurant is in Old Town in Lansing. The parking is curbside where available. You might have to walk a little. The service is good; but everything took a little time.

Yelp
Overall the food and vibe were excellent. Very robust menu with many things we wanted to try. The Music City Hangover was a delicious take on a hot fried chicken breakfast. The Kevin Bacon LT was one of their many varieties of avocado toast which tasted very fresh and clean. Came in on a Sunday morning in August and the wait was 20 minutes, which is normally not an issue but the restaurant was only about 75% full. Service was a little slow but did not alter our positive experience. We will definitely be coming back to try more things on the menu.

Yelp
- Coffee ($4): Weak drip - Biscuits and gravy: dense biscuits, bland gravy, very little meat. - Pancakes: very dense - French toast: couldn't even tell it was french toast. Literally just tasted like oiled bread. - Scrambled Eggs: overcooked - Mexican food: Not even tex-mex - Seasoned potatoes: decent - Specials: never had a great one - Baked desserts: fine, but definitely not a specialty shop - Portion size: decent - Service: no complaints with staff, food takes forever

Yelp
I'm not sure if we were there on an off day or what, but unfortunately not impressed with the food or service. The staff were nice but service was slow. The food was very bland and unseasoned. We both ordered the Hangover. The biscuits were extremely dry and we added salt/hot sauce to everything. However, the restaurant is in a very nice downtown area with a lot of shops to check out.

Yelp
What a great time, the food was incredible. My wife had a choice of three tacos (Frenchman, Baja and and Sassypants) along with 4 different sauces to with them and a side of seasoned tater tots. I had the Huevos Rancheros (Eggs over easy on two corn tortillas with refried beans and half a avocado) everything was local and extremely fresh. To drink I asked for a Pepsi, nope they only had soda from Detroit City Soda I got the Cola and it was delicious. The service was wonderful. The young lady who was your hostess and sat your table was also your server, bused tables and got them wiped and reset for the next guest, plus other duties to care for around the restaurant, she was a worker. Bravo to her and ambiance was fun, quirky. Mismatched chairs at the tables and their own touches of style. And you got a discount on your bill if you paid with cash. We will go out of our way to recommend it. Best kept secret in East Lansing. A+A+A+A+A+

Yelp
What do I think of Good Truckin' Diner? Let me count thy ways- 1. Love old town Lansing. I'm not fusing here nice shops, great local biz vibe and kind people. 2. Nice location building has character and a funky vibe. 3. Solid service. Coffee full the whole time! When vexed by decisions good menu suggestions by server. 4. Food freaking rocks. The three of us all loved the food. Breakfast is my favorite meal and when done well it can be life changing and memorable. Unique menu so go get it! 5. Yes I allowed my son to get a milkshake with his breakfast/brunch. 5 Truckin' Reasons why I love this place,

Yelp
The staff were very friendly, attentive and it was a good atmosphere however the food was pretty bland and my husbands had a hair in his burrito So I would probably not go again

Yelp
I am absolutely appalled by the experience here today and lately. I always thought the service was just slow because of how busy they get, but since expanding and relocating, it has only gotten worse. On October 19, I ordered my usual Gotham City Burger meal. Once served, I was told there was no coleslaw made for the burger, even though it is listed on the menu. That burger has three meats and I added egg, so having no vegetable really threw it off. I would have ordered something else if I had known. I asked to replace it with an omelet, and the server spoke with an older blonde woman who seemed irritated. They brought out warm dry coleslaw as a solution. It was not ideal, but I appreciated the effort and still enjoyed my meal. Today I came back with four friends because I wanted them to love this place too. I ordered a grilled steak burrito, and my server said no problem. Another person brought food to the table and said "steak burrito," so I took it. When I started eating, I realized there were mozzarella fries inside. It was the Paranorman special, not my order. I let the server know and asked for the correct one. When the correct burrito came, I was told the cooks refused to grill it because they were busy. This was frustrating because they grilled the wrong one earlier. I accepted it, but the replacement came out greasy, soggy, and ripped open on the back. I left the table to speak with someone and found the manager with plastic gauges. She said she would meet me at the table, but I told her I preferred to speak privately. My server met me instead, apologized, and comped the meal. The manager stood off in the distance, glaring, and never once spoke to me. Later she laughed and chatted with the same staff who made the mistakes, while they all avoided our table completely. We were the only Black customers in the restaurant and also the largest group. After paying, three friends left, and we still waited about 20 minutes for a to-go order that had been placed much earlier. We spent around $130 total and were treated like we were a burden. Our server deserves credit for being professional, informed, and kind. But the lack of respect, accountability, and basic courtesy from the manager and kitchen staff was unacceptable. The quality has severely declined since the relocation, and I left feeling disappointed, disrespected, and genuinely uncomfortable. update: EVERY REVIEW FROM THE PAST WEEK SAYS THEY HAD HAIR IN THE BURRITO, SERVICE SUCKS, AND/OR GOT AN ENTRIELY DIFFERENT ORDER.

Robert P.

Yelp
I got a different sandwich than what i ordered but it was great, whatever it was. The fries were really good as well. (The only down side) the ranch is really watery. They have a sign that says they offer a cash discount as well which would have been good to know prior to my visit so... here's your sign. Staff, have a huddle about the ranch and you'll be a 6 star dining facility

Yelp
Good service, fun menu. This place has absolute millennial core vibes, the wait is worth it. We had fun shopping in Old Town Lansing + I appreciated how cute this place was.

Yelp
New location (1218 Turner St) is so convenient from my place of work. Friendly service, good food, good espresso milkshake and good coffee. I look forward to my next visit.

Yelp
We were seated immediately but would have happily waited for the best breakfasts we've ever had! Service was friendly and informative. They had awesome music playing and there was a lot of fun decor to look at. Our food arrived quickly and was AMAZING! My cousin had the Cajun Omelette and she wanted to drink the sauce. The Music City Hangover (without the sausage gravy - personal preference) and was delighted...it was hot but not too hot and delicious! Our favorite, though, was the BONUTS! Fried biscuits dusted in cinnamon and sugar. Simple but TASTY! They didn't even need the dipping sauces.

Lori L.

Yelp
First time at Good Truckin in their new location. The service was good and the food was delicious! The huge portion made it a great value! Bananas florentine with bourbon cream cheese drizzle with sausage and hash browns! You need to try this! You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Love the new place. Great staff, excellent food. Awesome atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Old town is an adventure

Yelp
Birthday breakfast for me on this past Friday. I picked the restaurant because I've gone in the past and food was delicious at the old location. My Hubby's food was cold. The whole meal. bacon burnt, eggs cold, potatoes cold biscuit cold. The pancakes where even cold. Plus why do you serve ice cold pancake syrup. I had street tacos they where just ok.

Yelp
The food was amazing. Enough to feed the masses. Will definitely be on our list for the next time we are in town.

Yelp
Yelp's "Surprise Me" feature picked the Good Truckin' Diner for me to try and I am so happy it did! They don't have a specific parking lot, but there is parking close by--mainly all parallel spots. There is a cheerful ambiance with outdoor seating, but I decided to sit inside because it was a bit cold. Sitting up at the bar, I was amazed by how creative the artwork was. I also noticed that they have a cool collection of mugs. The staff was energetic and cheerful, and the service was quick! I started out with the fruity pebbles shake. It was good, but it tasted pretty average to me. There were also other options for cereal shakes such as Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Peanut Butter Crunch. I was seriously impressed with how good the tacos are. They were packed with flavor and the shells didn't taste dry. I tried the Huevos Ranchero and the Sassy Pants. While they were both good, I recommend the Sassy Pants. The spice from the Nashville chicken went great with the pineapple.

Yelp
Love the new location. Great selection of choices, had the fiesta migas. It was good but could have been hotter.

Yelp
Loved it and would recommend any and every and all locals, and travelers to make this a regular visit. Portions are Enormous

Yelp
Had a really unfortunate experience at my first time going to their new location. It's a shame because I love them usually and the new place seems promising, but our waitress ruined my morning. Food was good as usually, only problem was the server. Here's my vent about it: My latte was so bad (soapy and room-temp...?) that I asked for a coffee instead. Waitress gave me attitude about it and then literally ARGUED with me about removing it from the check, even though I did not drink more than a sip. Said that she wasn't going to remove it because I "ordered it knowing I was going to be picky" (I mentioned being a barista when she asked what was wrong with it). First off, I'm not actually picky, I could just tell that something was seriously off with that drink. Second, it doesn't matter even if I was picky, because I didn't drink it! Such a crazy thing to fight a customer about. I guess the waitress was just having a really bad morning and was looking for a fight. Hope my $10 tip made her feel better.

Yelp
The food was delicious. We will definitely come back again. Had to wait a little bit but it was worth the wait.
google avatar

Jim S.

Yelp
Good food, fries came out unseasoned(not as depicted in description), burger(Shroominator) was decent but slightly over cooked, ordered medium rare arrived at medium. Friendly staff, lots of menu options and specials. Will return to try other options
google avatar

Stacia G.

Yelp
Cozy diner with good food. Friendly staff greets you as you walk in. Vegan and meatatarian options. First time I've had a coke in a bottle in a while. Food came out quickly. Had the music city hangover. Fiery chicken smothered in gravy, egg, pickle over a biscuit. Amazing! The potato's that came as side were perfectly seasoned . My companion noted, "I want to come here 2-3 times a week and try everything on the menu." Unfortunately we don't live in Lansing. If you do- don't walk- run- and eat!! And of course, we will be back!

Steve S.

Yelp
I don't normally complain, but my god the food was absolutely awful, I wouldn't even feed it to my dogs. The food was cold to start with, I got sausage and it was harder than a rock the pancakes were crispy, our waitress had a skirt on that you could see her butt cheeks. They were out of a lot of food, and it cost $70. I will ABSOLUTELY NEVER return!
google avatar

Michelle A.

Yelp
What a great place! Even though it's small with not a whole lot of seating (some booths and seats at the counter), the turnover is pretty fast so therefore not long waits despite how busy it is! It was hard to choose what to order as the pictures made everything look good! I love how there's plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. I got the biscuits and mushroom gravy. It was good but the gravy was a bit salty. Also tried the Parmesan waffle fries and they were also good but felt more like a lunch side rather than a breakfast side because of the Italian-like dressing. Our group ordered burritos and they absolutely loved their meals. We also shared the fruity pebble shake and that was delicious! The service was fast, the staff friendly but one side note is there's only one unisex bathroom that was a bit dirty.
google avatar

Sharon F.

Yelp
We went for a late lunch. Two adults and a 6 year old. It's cold out. They were full but 2 tables were about to leave. We were told in a pretty snotty way that we had to wait outside. Nothing about sorry, it should just be a few minutes or anything remotely friendly. I won't give it another try.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
Quaint very small diner. There's only about 5 tables and 6 barstools so make sure you get there early unless you want to wait outside. Food was good for the price and portions are generous. The coffee was really good and strong and coffee mugs were very cute
google avatar

Kerry S.

Yelp
This is my second time at GT. At the suggestion of my server, I ordered the South by Southwest with the rye toast. I was looking for an omelette with a bit of spice, and I like both veg and meat. Normally I don't do much steak, but it was lean and tender. The flavor profile was nice and balanced and I kicked it up a notch with some Cholula (as one does with breakfast). The home fries were seasoned appropriately and the rye toast was perfect once given a layer of butter. The coffee was not as good as it could be. They should switch to Rudy Bags. My vegetarian husband said the Fiesta Migas was not as good as the veg hippy hangover.
google avatar

Delanie M.

Yelp
a win for the vegans! love a restaurant that has vegan items clearly labeled and double points to good truckin diner for having a vegan section. my aunt and i split the planters burrito with chorizo and the blueberry waffle which also comes with potatoes and a protein side (we chose more chorizo). i went with the burrito because of the plantains and my only wish was there were more! i only had one plantain in my half of the burrito but when i got to it... wow... the best part. the blueberry waffle was chewy and delicious! the potatoes were also pretty good but not the star by any means. my mom got Emily's Stoopid Sandwich and the red pepper aoli and smoked gouda sounded so good on that sandwich. overall good food and fast service.

K B.

Yelp
The food was just not that great . They forgot to make my sons burger. The fries were cooked in dirty oil and the Baja street tacos barely had anything in them . There were two tiny shrimp in on taco and only one taco had onions . The burger didn't come till after we were finished .. they didn't seemed too apologetic about it either . For 46 dollars it didn't seem worth it . I wasn't really let down.
google avatar

Julianne H.

Yelp
We've been here twice. There's always a wait list and the food is always worth it. We've ordered burgers (amazing) and breakfast food (their breakfast burritos are to die for) One thing that's worth noting: this is a great spot for brunch dates or lunches BUT I personally wouldn't go here with a group of over 4 people. They don't have a lot of space inside, so you'd have to wait a long time & possibly endure the stares of other hungry customers. Not worth it for my already socially awkward self. But for parties of 2, they get you seated without too much waiting and the food comes out pretty quickly after you order (perks of keeping the place small, I guess? ) But even if it wasn't fast, it'd still be worth the wait-- the food is that good. Oh! Also - definitely worth checking the specials board above the counter when you go in. They have some of the coolest options up there!
google avatar

Marisa B.

Yelp
Great menu that will accommodate almost any dietary requirements. Fast, friendly service. Fun, punk/diy atmosphere that REO town is known form. A true gem.
google avatar

Timothy M.

Yelp
The food came out within 10 minutes of ordering. I was happy to receive everything so quickly. I picked a special that was in the board. There was bacon, potatoes and pancakes. Now the bacon was cooked to perfection. The potatoes were diced and had a great crunch to them. The pancakes had an excellent rum sauce. It didn't need syrup, but I added a little because of customs. The ambiance was hip. The staff was quick and courteous. I will be back again.

Yelp
Rarely do attribute something as worth the wait, but Good Truckin' Diner is worth the wait. Luckily you can put your name in and go get coffee somewhere else on the weekends, but I would recommend getting there early. Also rarely am I paralyzed by menu decisions, everything looked absolutely incredible and was priced so well. I absolutely had to try the sausage gravy and glad I went with the Big Country omelette that had fried chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese and smothered in sausage gravy. My goodness it was SO good. My dining partner got the Diesel, which was just about everything on the menu and everything looked so good. The pancakes, which I tried, were quite good and I would get them next time. The staff was super nice, the coffee kept coming, and the food got to us so quickly. Absolute recommendation for anyone in the are or visiting the state capital.

Corey M.

Yelp
Tiny place with BIG flavor! Excellent food and service! Only caution is the restaurant is small so there may be a wait. However, we also saw many pick up to go orders too!
google avatar

Kaylee N.

Yelp
Good truckin' diner is small but worth the wait! Such a big menu with options for everyone. Staff was helpful and made recommendations, there are specials to choose from as well. My group of 5 were in and out and had a really short wait. We were all super happy with our choices and would definitely go back. Street parking is available. Outdoor seating looks available during warm months!

Yelp
I've taken to going on Saturday morning excursions with my 11-month-old daughter while my wife gets a much-deserved morning to herself. As part of this weekly ritual, I've been to a number of different restaurants that have different reactions to the "table for one and a half". Sometimes we've gotten gruff service for taking the place of an adult so my daughter can eat with me, and other times I've gotten genuinely kind service. Good Truckin' Diner was not only good to us, but the person who waited on us was beyond kind but proactive. I didn't even need to ask for most things that helped make our dining experience exceptional. My great failing is that I cannot remember the server's name, but she made my world better. Unsurprisingly, the service is exceptional. The food is very, very good. The ambiance has nice vibes with always-appreciated Michigan kitsch. I'm sure the folks working here would appreciate me saying that, given this is a pretty small establishment, you shouldn't take what I've written above as an endorsement to take all your friends and their kids here for brunch as that would probably not much fun for anyone.

Yelp

Yelp
Great food. My party tried various breakfast and lunch options including the Hangover, French toast and tacos. All were delicious. Smaller place with great service.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I wanted to get some food before hitting the road to head back to GR from Lansing, and a friend recommended Good Truckin' Diner. I'm so glad she did, because it's a new favorite for sure! I had read some Yelp reviews of GTD before, so I knew it was a small place and we should get there early on a Sunday. We grabbed a two-top right when we arrived around 8 am and the place was full shortly after. The whole diner only holds about 25 people, tops. The menu is inventive without being over the top and still includes all the classic favorites. There are a few wonderful things about the menu: +all the Classics come with potatoes, choice of meat, AND choice of toast +you can get the other egg options as an omelette OR a burrito (omelettes come with potatoes and toast, burritos come with potatoes only) +you can get lunch or breakfast at any time when they're open I love all the options for such a tiny place. I ordered the Mona's as an omelette (applewood bacon, mushrooms, tomato, onions, cheddar topped with hollandaise sauce) and my boyfriend got the Roscoe burrito (scrambled eggs, fried chicken, chopped waffles, bacon & syrup). We had fun watching the other customers' food coming out - everything looked amazing! The flat top, prep station, and oven are all right out in the open so you can watch them cook too, really fun. Our food was not super quick to come out, but it was definitely worth any wait! The omelette was super thin, almost crepe-like egg wrapped around some wonderful fresh ingredients. I don't like those big puffy omelettes with pancake batter in them, I prefer French omelettes - this was pretty close to that and so delicious. The bacon was plentiful, the mushrooms were perfectly cooked, and the tomato was just a light touch. The only complaint I had was the hollandaise - it was a little runny and not super flavorful, but everything else was so good I didn't really care. I'm not a huge home fry person, but the potatoes were great. My boyfriend's burrito was also great - a little dry inside but with some additional syrup it was just fine. Our server was great and brought us our check immediately, which I appreciate. We wanted to eat and get out in order to make room for others to enjoy this wonderful place! We spent about $25 including tip, which is a great value for the amount of food you get and the quality of the food. I am definitely putting this on my regular rotation for the next time I'm in the area!

Andy J.

Yelp
We are so happy we found this place. They have a nice variety of tasty food. Always a highlight of our trips to visit MSU.
google avatar

Henry R.

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend that you come here on a Sunday, unless you don't mind waiting. I called in a to go order and they told me 20-25 mins, I came by 20 mins later, it wasn't even started, so I had to wait outside for another 20 mins, 40 minutes total. I ordered the Miklo omelette, it came with a side of potato's and toast of your choice. The food was delicious, but the wait was ridiculous.
google avatar

Diane H.

Yelp
The BONUTS. Quite possible the tastiest ... freshest I've ever had! Though it is my first time consuming such a thing. Is this what beignets taste like?!! That cream cheese dip- soo good. We also got blueberry dip but I didn't care too much about it. My MJ waffle was good but it needs more sauce. I believe our friends enjoyed their burrito and their omelette. They had this last week and they liked it enough to recommend us and get it again this week so they just like this place. They were busyyyyy on a Sunday morning ! Everything was takeout for us- since Michigan is closed down for dining in. Their dining room is small according to what I was told anyways. I'll need to try something else next time.. their menu is very extensive. The s/o and I shared the MJ since we aren't big breakfast people. I quite liked the home fries too! The little one enjoyed his "flapjacks". Apparently it comes as 3 and not one. Just get those BONUTS. That is all.

Yelp
The pound for pound food champion in the Lansing area! The wife and I have been here maybe six times and we clear our plates every single time. No to-go boxes necessary. There are only about five tables and a few seats at the counter so there is a decent chance you'll have to wait a few minutes before being seated. Don't worry, it's def worth the wait. If they are busy, go in and enter your name on the list along with the number in your party and your phone digits. They will call immediately when there is seating available. When seated you can watch the food being prepared and every single dish looks beautiful. These cooks are food wizards! My recommendation for vegans is the naughty by nature burrito which is full of tofu, avocado, potatoes, broccoli, and love. It's covered with a mushroom gravy type sauce which is amaze balls.

Yelp
Everything about this place was phenomenal -- from the food to the service to the atmosphere. Definitely the best breakfast I've ever had and I will definitely be coming again!!!!

Yelp
Pretty darn good food and atmosphere. Sodas in a bottle! Neat!! Staff was friendly and quick!
