Enjoyed the flavors & taste of Texas BBQ. Smokey beef brisket, slow cooked by using treadicinal wood was tender and the taste was enhanced by the BBQ sauce. Their cole slaw and Pecan pie were excellent. The stunning dining area is decorated with stuffed buffalo, Turkey, olden guns and cowboy items.

This place is a fantastic BBQ joint! ♨️ Goode Company in Houston, Texas 🤠 has a incredible selection of roasted and grilled meats! 🍖 Definitely get Brisket 🥩 and Chicken 🍗 with a side of their delicious 🤤 Mac and Cheese! 🧀 They offer free pickles 🥒 & onions! 🧅 Staff 👨‍🍳 is super friendly, the place is beautifully decorated 🛋️, and the ambience 🎶 is fantastic and they play ▶️ non-stop country music! 🎵 They have lots of indoor seating. 🪑 I wish I came here more often!

My husband has been wanting to come for a while and I love bbq so I said why not. But I think this is one and done for me. The sauce was good but watery. Potato salad had no taste at all. The green beans had so much pepper I couldn't stop sneezing. The pecan pie was tasty but the crust was dry and crumbly.

Our big group was treated like family here. Everyone from the manager to the bus boy had a genuine smile and showed interest in making our experience memorable and it was. The decor is a bit dated but very authentic. We will be back. Thank you Tim and team. You showed my guests what Southern hospitality really means!

Google
Really helpful folks and incredible food. The barbecued smoked ribs and brisket were the best I've ever had. Loved the atmosphere and saddles and bison and everything. Really easy to order and super flexible. I'd come here every visit to Houston.

Google
I keep driving by and just had to give Goode Company BBQ a taste. I had the 3 meat plate and sides that included: Pork ribs, brisket, chezk sausage, Mac-n-cheese, and green beans. Followed with a Saint Arnold’s root beer and pecan pie. Tasty BBQ and sides and it was a good choice to stop by for lunch. I’d definitely recommend this place if you are in the area. The best part is they play classic country in the background.

Google
Had a chopped beef baked potato. The meat was more cubed than shredded like other places. Everything was excellent. The employee was extremely pleasant. The only problem was that I got it to go, and the container was a pressed thick paper (better for the environment), but the butter soaked through the container and the paper bag. It was a greasy mess.

Google
Goode BBQ is always our stop coming to Houston or traveling through. All the meats are delicious and the sweet beans with apples are very goode. Oh and the homemade bread and desserts are great. Their dinning room is like being in an old western movie, feel free to explore a little. Today is Sunday and there were alot of people but it was not crowded. The serving staff has always been friendly and has no problems answering questions.

Yelp
Goode company is a staple and this visit was definitely good. My friend and I decided last minute to head here for some BBQ baked potatoes. The delicious smells hit as soon as we walked in! The staff was also very attentive and friendly during the whole visit. I ordered the brisket BBQ potato with a side of mac and cheese. I'm usually hesitant to order mac and cheese; although I love it, most places fall short. This mac and cheese was bomb - so good! The potato however was only okay. For more flavorful bbq, I might try another place before heading back to Goode, but this was still a wonderful visit and we didn't leave hungry.

Yelp
My first time ordering take out. I ordered the 3 meat two sides dinner which was only $1 more than the two meat two sides dinner. I had brisket which was mild, tender and juicy. A double order of pork ribs that were both tender and meaty. Flavor on the meats was nice. The Austin baked beans were scrumptious! Filled with meat, potatoes, peppers, and great seasoning on the baked beans. The beans could be a meal on its own. The potato salad was bland as if they had put cottage cheese or sour cream in it. The condiments included a nice container of mild bbq sauce, side of pickles, onions, jalapeños and a slice of homemade jalapeños cheese bread. For dessert I ordered the chocolate bourbon pecan pie..excellent! Not over powering, but deliciously rich in flavor.

Yelp
Howdy from a cool BBQ spit! Service and atmosphere: This place is super organised, decorated and has a true Texan vibe. The restaurant's clean aesthetics will let you enjoy your visit and food to the maximum. Moreover, you will receive great customer service too. Food and drinks: Fantastic on all fronts. Tender BBQ meats, smashing seasoning, tangy sauce and very good selection of sides was spot on. They offer good selection of beers. Red wine is on the menu too. All was great. Pricing: Just right and super worth it!

Yelp
Went with friends for a late lunch. We used to live in Houston and love Goode Co BBQ. The food is always good and consistent! We all had plates with two meats and sides. Brisket, Turkey , ribs , jalapeños sausage , cheque sausage all of it was delicious. We also got a chocolate crème pie to bring home and eat also delicious!! The restaurant is decorated with old saddles and other vintage items along with a beautiful chandelier. This is the best BBQ in Houston highly recommend!!

Yelp
I've been to Goode Company a few times and it never quite lives up to expectations and ends up being about on par with Pappas BBQ. I came to this location a few months ago (and clearly forgot to write a review). I had a two meat plate with brisket and ribs, and two sides that I'm not recalling at the moment. It was all okay. Not even as good as the last time I went to Pappas. I probably would have given it three stars. However, my most recent trip was a true disappointment. I had been craving a chopped beef potato, I haven't had one in quite a while. I ordered with excitement. But then I watched them slice and then chop up some brisket. Two slices, maybe 1/4 pound, gray, dry, not even a smoke ring to be seen on the meat. Then they cut open a small baked potato, put on "everything" aka, butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon bits?, and then my dry brisket on top. I took a bite and it was "meh." Not much flavor, very dry (both the meat and the potato). I added the whole little dish of sauce to try to revive my meal. It made it better, but still not great. It's what I would imagine a Chopped Beef Potato as a side order might be like, or what I'd get at a theme park in another state. For $15 I expected better from a local Texas BBQ joint.

Yelp
I feel like five stars isn't enough. My co worker and I went here on the same day as the big storm in Houston about a month ago. We arrived in the middle of the storm, it was probably too dangerous to run from the car to the restaurant but we did any way. The manager welcomed us into safety. After awhile of watching the storm they asked if we were hungry, I insisted we pay for it but the said don't worry about it because they didn't have any power to the registers. The staff was super welcoming and nice, and the food tasted amazing, food was still warm even though there wasn't any power!

Yelp
Family favorite. Love this place. Best barbecue in town (I'm partial to tex-mex LOL). Very nice decor inside and employees are so sweet!

Todd H.

Yelp
Their brisket is great- to the point it is seasoned and cooked so well it doesn't need sauce - that is a sign of an excellence. Great balance of flavor and smoke. Sausage is great as well. Ribs are good but not the best I've ever had. If you do want sauce - they've got it dialed in. All of the sides are also worth ordering. Bottom line, I will go out of my way to eat here every time I'm on this side of town.

Yelp
The service was unprofessional, had to repeat the order several times, after that she got it right but trashed it, 2 sides been and rice, and did another one, this time green beens that I didn't ask for. Package to go was broken and made a big mess. And she was a bit rude. The brisket was too tough and the ribs were not off the bone, more like almost uncooked. Not war I expected. Normally I'm happy with everything, not today.

Mike S.

Yelp
Dry and flavorless brisket. This is my 3rd time trying this place. And this is the 3rd time I received dried and flavorless brisket. I really wanted to like this place . The staff was friendly but, I cannot go to a place where the food is subpar.

Yelp
It's a good barbecue joint that has a very "texan decor." The portions are good for a lunch, and the staff is extremely cordial! Food: the three meat plate with Sausage, brisket, and baby back ribs was good and paired excellent with the complimentary bread slice! Specifically, the brisket was tender and tore easily, the sausage had a good casing, and the ribs were a bit tough but still excellent flavor. The sides of rice and cole slaw were good, but the rice was a bit too mushy. Be sure to ask for an extra barbecue sauce (it's sweet, but good) Cheers

Sylvia H.

Yelp
Manager Tim is AWESOME. I had a not so wonderful beef dinner and he made up for it for me.. NICE, NICE MAN. . Thank you Tim and Ashley too. See you soon!! Best BBBQ in town. Appreciative Grandma

Yelp
Two years ago I bought ham here for Thanksgiving and it was the best ham I'd ever had in my life. So smoky you could still smell it after you put it away. So I bought some again this year. I thought I kept smelling something electrical burning and as it turns out, it was the ham! All 11 people at dinner took one bite and put it down. No one could or would eat it. I don't know what the heck it was, but it was awful. It became the debate of the evening. Weird seasonings? Bad wood? Electrical fire in the pit? What a waste of a lot of money. Two years ago, their Pecan pie was the best I'd ever had, too. We couldn't stop eating it. It was addictive. This year, not so much. It was fine, actually. It just wasn't outstanding like it was before. It bears mentioning that around a year ago, we stopped in as we had never eaten a meal there and since the previous ham had been so good, we thought we should give it a try. We were shocked that this place has stayed in business with such bland and mediocre food. We didn't even finish our meal. We won't be going back. More than one disastrous experience is enough. .

Yelp
I really wanted more from a restaurant that has been doing BBQ in Houston for so many years. Food was mostly bland, sides were cold and the bbq sauce definitely reminded me more of tomato soup than the spicy sweet & tangy sauce I'm family Chicken was under seasoned & undercooked...like pink/red, so I only ate what I could.

Yelp
Goode Company restaurants are the best of the best! the food is always on point and the customer service is pretty good. I ordered a two meat plate of Czech Sausage and lean brisket. This is one of the few places that actually give you brisket that is cut lean. Most pit guys force fatty part on you, because of their belief, instead of giving you what you ask for. The dining room was pretty clean and the staff was nice.
google avatar

Steph B.

Yelp
Goode Co has pretty okay barbecue and a fun dining hall to make the experience fun. I book large groups here often. They offer a private room on the balcony overlooking the restaurant. It's fun up there with a great view of the hall and your guests and have a make lots of noise without bothering other guests. The restaurant will cater so your party doesn't need to see menus and the staff does a super job with service.

Yelp
Horrible service don't bother..... I went here tonight at 6:00 place was 90% empty. Placed my order for sliced brisket and then waited 10 minutes for my order.. no problem with a line... there were no other customers in line. Just me.. no food, no service after ordering....Never got my food, just a long face to face with an employee who was busy talking to co- non workers but who didn't want to work... WTH? Who is managing this place? It definitely explains the 90% empty part... I walked out and won't be back any time soon.... No way to run a restaurant.

Yelp
I've been coming to Goode Company for years and they've never missed!!! I always get the Beef Ribs, Green Beans (LOVE THEM), and Czech Sausage. The Turkey and Chicken are fan favorites that I'll try, if I'm feeling it. The secret star of the show is the Pecan Pie. Customer service is always a hit. I always pick something that the cashier likes and try it.

Yelp
Shocking lack of leadership last night at this usually good restaurant. Their cooker went down, and they ran out of meat, but they stayed open without at least posting a sign saying "no meat." Staff said they hoped to have the cooker repaired the next day, but took no pro-active steps to minimize customer inconvenience. To allow customers to come anyway was amazingly poor management. There seemed to be no one present with the wisdom to say, "Hey, we need to close, and let folks know we're sorry our cooker went down. We'll be back wit our great BBQ ASAP!"

Ronny H.

Yelp
The brisket was too dry, sausage was OK, and the vegetables were ok. Staff was pleasant. Would not put it in the top 10 bbq restaurants

Yelp
This place is the real deal. Real Texas bbq. We were so impressed with the perfect smoked ribs. The spit fired chicken was perfectly moist and the brisket was amazing. The sides were all delicious. You can't go wrong with the ooey gooey pecan pie that was to die for. The restaurant decor is that of an old time saloon and should be considered to be museum. Good company bbq was the highlight of my Houston trip. It's not a just a restaurant.. but a dining experience. 10/10 ... I would highly recommend!

Kian A.

Yelp
Can't go wrong with a brisket poboy. Don't forget the pie!!! Feeling fat after a great lunch

Zachary T.

Yelp
All the negative reviews are from people who love waiting in line for an hour to spend $50 for 1/4 pound of brisket and 1 side at Truth BBQ. Highly recommend purchasing the jalapeño cheese bread loafs. My only critique is I wish they had an extra jalapeño option because they are kinda stingy with it.

Yelp
Came to Houston for a visit and saw this restaurant. Smelled awesome when you walk in. Food was amazing!! But the guys behind the counter were a little hard to understand. Was hoping to get a better explanation of how to order. Nevertheless GREAT food!!!

Yelp
This is Texas BBQ on the local commercial level. Props to them for being open past 7 on a Saturday since no other BBQ places were open. Craving some BBQ eats, I ordered and picked up my BBQ goods here to dig in at the comforts of my domicile. The three meat combo (pork ribs, brisket, jalapeño sausage) w/ potato salad and jambalaya rice and a half chicken order is what I unwrapped as I got home. I was impressed by the chicken and potato salad. Potato salad had a killer consistency and a hint of mustard which I like. The chicken was juicy with smokiness/char on it. Sausage and rice were decent; I've had better sausage elsewhere but it wasn't bad, same with the rice. The ribs and brisket were a bit dry and lacking in flavor since the cuts were a bit lean. Might be due to what they had remaining since I ordered late. I heard their pie is killer which I found out after reading the reviews after eating here. Probably should've went with that and had a smaller meat plate. Many natives rave about the pie. I applaud this place for still serving during this pandemic and having an efficient to-go service. However, you're better off going to one of the legendary local BBQ spots in this city such as Gatlin's or Burn's. Since this spot is close to me, it's convenient but as always, you gotta go the extra mile for that 'extra' in extraordinary!

Yelp
Let me start by saying that I've been coming here since this place opened. Back in the day, Jim Goode, original place on Kirby was one of the best bbq places in town, and when they open out west in the early eighties it was wonderful. I can't count the times I've been here and have always enjoyed it. Lots of memories with friends and family. Too bad, those days are gone. I'm not going to go into all the things that were bad - let's just say everything. Jim Goode wouldn't have let this happen, and whoever is in charge of the organization he started should be ashamed. Very disappointing and I won't be back.

Jeff S.

Yelp
Food was average, ribs weren't bad but I could taste the soot on the sausage, beans and coleslaw weren't anything special. I'd say the service sucked if it weren't for the girls at the end of the line, guy cutting meat acted like I was bothering him from scrolling through fb... decorated like your typical BBQ joint, I had high hopes but wasn't really impressed. If I'm going to pay that much for a meal it should be better than what I got. Sorry, no tip.
google avatar

Kelly F.

Yelp
Dear owners... please teach staff how your pricing is built... I order from your establishment because of the quality of food. Teach your staff when there is a 'to go' order... all costs are calculated in the price. Why would staff ask for a tip when I'm picking up my own food? If your staff expects a tip... shame on you and them. Aren't your employees paid a wage? Teach your Your food is too good and for the prices you charge ...you shouldn't ask for tips.... nothing has changed in your business model. Cost of goods have gone up which you pass on to the customer. Tips are based on service. Do we tip fast food orders? We are sick of the audacity is asking for tips by employees doing their job.

Yelp
2.0 - Bread, jalapeno 3.0 - Mac & Cheese 4.5 - Potato, beef brisket, everything on side (use cfa bbq sauce) 3.5 - Ribs, pork 3.0 - Sausage 3.0 - Turkey
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Walking in it is your typical country bbq restauraunt. Plenty of space. There is a line to order your food from a menu posted on the wall. Cant really rate service per there were not any waiters. You had to get your own silver wear, condiments and drinks. Food was nothing special. It was average tasting bbq from your typical big chain restauraunt.
google avatar

Michael Y.

Yelp
"This place is to bbq what gas stations are to sushi" Prison cafeteria style beef and pork with a heavy dousing of liquid smoke. Everything had undertones of ashtray. Service was friendly but not nearly friendly enough to go back. There has to be better bbq on this side of town.

David R.

Yelp
TRASH brisket delivered with an arrogant trash attitude. The "Lubys" of bbq. Went through line and got brisket. They put a few attractive fatty cuts that looked ok on top of pure crap-gristle and fat. But upon closer inspection the top pieces that concealed the rubbish were 25% fat (last time I went was 20 years ago-EXACT same practice). Tasted like shoe leather. Covered with watery tomato sauce (it's their bbq sauce). I asked the cutter about the crap he was serving me under the top pieces bc I could see what he was doing, and he was totally pissed off. Should have asked for a manager but on a date with my wife. Never again. Want excellent bbq? Houston has best in Texas. Top 15 in Texas Monthly - Goode Co not mentioned. Personal fav? The Pit Room, Blood Brothers, Pinkertons. Will NEVER go to this horrible place again. Still angry I wasted money here.
google avatar

Berles C.

Yelp
Consistent. They have green beans now as a side dish, thank you. Pork ribs were a little dry, so I smothered in sauce. I always love the dirty rice and you have to end with a pecan pie or a praline.

Monica ..

Yelp
Shrinking portions, unfortunately. Ordered curbside and all of my sides were half empty. Shame as this location is convenient.
google avatar

Jonathan W.

Yelp
Someone might wanna remind Goode Co that in TX when we order a BBQ STUFFED baked potatoe that 1. We want the bbq not that tiny handful you put in! 2. We expect TX size potatoes! *Pickle slice for size reference *owner was very kind and has reached out and offered a meal to replace previous. Probably won't be in that area in awhile but the gesture was kind, so I upped to 3 stars from 2
google avatar

Yelp
Tasty and delicious Texas barbecue. From California but I think this is the best I have tasted.
google avatar

Ryan S.

Yelp
Disgusting ugh!! The sauce is marinara sauce. Brisket was slimey, ribs had a terrible taste, sausage taste like they were old and macaroni was cold. I didn't bother to feed it to my dog!! WASTE OF MONEY
google avatar

Robert Z.

Yelp
We couldn't have left Houston without some of its famous BBQ, and we certainly were not disappointed. With the help of some great reviews, our group decided to share 2 or 3 three meat platters, which come with a choice of three meats and 2x sides. So with that much variety, we had a chance to sample some sausage, roast and chicken. The sausage was excellent, tiny slivers almond with some spice that was a bit sweet and with a consistency of tomato soup. But it was still good, just not of the next level stuff you might expect. The chicken was a bit dry and not as memorable as the brisket, which by far was the best thing on the plate. The ribs were good, but only two per plate. I agree with some of the other reviews about the prices not matched up to the serving size, but its definately a premium. The service is good and fast. Very quick and not something you would go to the establishment for. The trick is to grab your tray and hope for the best. You need to know the sides, and you get a dollop of mac and cheese, collard greens (smokey) and beans. Whatever you like. Next time I'll try the potato. For dessert, the 6 of us shared a huge slice of pecan pie. And it's one of the best I've ever had. Definately worth a try if you are in the area . For about $100 USD for the group, not too bad value for the experience.
google avatar

Ann S.

Yelp
I have eaten here and the location on Kirby many time and have enjoyed it, but today the BBQ sauce was absolutely Horrendous, it was a jar of marinara sauce with spices added. I spent 15 minutes cleaning that mess off my brisket with napkins so that at the very least it would be edible. The sauce destroyed the quality of the meat. The brisket itself was very tasty and smoked fork perfection. Which is the ONLY reason I did not return my entire plate and ask for my money back. I had the Macaroni and Cheese and Potato Salad as my sides. Macaroni was like most Macaroni on a hot plate was over cooked and mushy, but had a good taste. Potato Salad made with Mayo was average, had raw onions. The place is clean and they make sure to clean between customers. Staff was friendly.

Priscila P.

Yelp
My first time here and I had a great experience! The food was so delicious and warm. GET THE MAC AND CHEESE I order a lean brisket sandwich and that was so delicious. The employees were so nice to me and helpful. The atmosphere was so Texan and old western it's so cool. I am definitely going back again!
google avatar

Hue P.

Yelp
Fresh baked potato with sliced lean brisket. They weigh the meat prior to putting it on and I agree with one reviewer who said it should have more. The brisket was not as smoked as I would expect in a bbq joint. They did have a lot of customers so maybe cut the smoking time. I should have asked for more "bark" to have some additional smoke flavor. Anyways, I also got a $6 slice of pecan pie which I am saving for breakfast to eat with coffee. Might update on the taste/texture of the crust later. Goode was good enough and hit the spot.

Yelp
This place SUCKS!!!! I asked for a combo plate of brisket and ribs and they gave me crumbs of brisket. So crappy!! Will never go here again!!!!

Lin W.

Yelp
BBQ is delicious and the place is like an old museum! So fun for the kids! We will be back!

Celia B.

Yelp
The food at Goode Company BBQ is delicious and consistent. We love the meats, sides and jalapeño cheese bread!!!
google avatar

Adelyn T.

Yelp
Pretty good food for a (semi) chain! I got the two-meat combo and chose ribs and sausage, and paid for two extra sides. My boyfriend got the chopped brisket sandwich and also two sides. Would recommend!
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
We have successfully placed large to go orders from Goode Co. for the office on several occasions. I've called them during lunch time and within 20 mins. the order is ready to be picked up. The workers who have assisted me have always been pleasant, offering to bring the food to my car. The baked potatoes have been a popular item with the team. All the condiments come on the side, allowing for everyone to prepare their potato to their liking. The shredded brisket and spicy sausage are both delicious, I suggest ordering both!!
google avatar

Tom C.

Yelp
This restaurant is beautiful. Pork rIbs were perfect, fall-off-the bone tender. Their sauce is excellent. Their Jalapeño Garlic sauce is the best I've ever had anywhere. You can buy bottles of it and take it home. That's what I do. Macaroni was perfect. Texan Jambalaya was very good. Jalapeño cheese bread is ok. No room in my belly at all for desert. The pies and brownies looked good, but I tapped out. Friendly staff. They don't mind at all if you walk around and look at all the old photos, signs, saddles, guns, woodwork, and mounted animal skins. It's like a restaurant and museum. You gotta stop here.
google avatar

Brenda A.

Yelp
This looks place is so good, I used to drive past on way home now retired so don't get to this one as much as would like. Had the brisket meal can not go wrong and there is enough for lunch.
google avatar

Al P.

Yelp
The building itself is eye catching from the Katy Freeway which is how I ended up here. The restaurant is rather spacious and we had no line at 1 O'clock on a Tuesday. I ordered the brisket plate and my son had the Turkey sandwich. They are more than generous with BBQ sauce so I would let them know to go easy unless you like your meat swimming in it. The brisket is fair and NOT worth $15 in my opinion. Tender but with a lot of fat. The loaded baked potato is good. The sandwich was a good portion, again with a lot of sauce. I do like the western motif inside and would come back to try something different- easy on the sauce!
