I've been to Goode Company a few times and it never quite lives up to expectations and ends up being about on par with Pappas BBQ.
I came to this location a few months ago (and clearly forgot to write a review). I had a two meat plate with brisket and ribs, and two sides that I'm not recalling at the moment. It was all okay. Not even as good as the last time I went to Pappas. I probably would have given it three stars.
However, my most recent trip was a true disappointment. I had been craving a chopped beef potato, I haven't had one in quite a while. I ordered with excitement. But then I watched them slice and then chop up some brisket. Two slices, maybe 1/4 pound, gray, dry, not even a smoke ring to be seen on the meat. Then they cut open a small baked potato, put on "everything" aka, butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon bits?, and then my dry brisket on top.
I took a bite and it was "meh." Not much flavor, very dry (both the meat and the potato). I added the whole little dish of sauce to try to revive my meal. It made it better, but still not great.
It's what I would imagine a Chopped Beef Potato as a side order might be like, or what I'd get at a theme park in another state. For $15 I expected better from a local Texas BBQ joint.
