"The Bourdain, named after the late renowned chef and food critic Anthony Bourdain, is the burger to get at Goodfriend. Conceived at the height of the smash burger era, it features two patties, American cheese, Kewpie mayo, tomatoes, lettuce, and all the trappings. Despite its seemingly smaller-than-average size, this burger is a beast to get through because that’s one dense patty inside delightfully chewy buns. Pro-tip: get the sweet potato fries to go with it. Once you’ve made your way through that one, there are loads of other burger options to explore. The P.L.O.T. (horseradish pickles, lettuce, onion, tomato, and white cheddar) and East Side (smoked brie, sunny side up egg, and pepper bacon) are solid. Burgers land between $10 and $15 here. There are always interesting local beers on tap, and every day brings a new frozen cocktail worth trying. Vibe check: Most people come here to sit on the covered patio, which is equipped with fans and AC for the brutal summer months and heaters for the five or six days we need them. It took years for Goodfriend to expand and weather-proof the patio, so luxuriate in it. It’s peak patio." - Courtney E. Smith
"Goodfriend has one of the great East Dallas patios. Pull up to a comfy picnic table and order from its expansive and ever-changing beer library, or just get one of the best burgers in town. Get a beer and bring the doggo if you like. The lot is notoriously often full, but there is additional parking around the back or across the street in the Goodfriend Package lot." - Rachel Pinn
"Looking for a beer garden and burger spot in the neighborhood? Can’t do better than Goodfriend. The Bourdain burger is legendary, but the Frito pie and wide array of wings are worth checking out. For those searching for a stellar breakfast sandwich, hit up the Goodfriend Package store across the street." - Courtney E. Smith
"For folks who are really into wings, this East Dallas mainstay offers a lot of different takes. Notably, you can get one wing in an “I Told You So” sauce made with Carolina reaper, scorpion, and ghost peppers. It comes with a no-refunds warning. Traditionalists, stick to the battered wings." - Amy McCarthy
"Eastsiders have been bringing their furry friends to Goodfriend for ages. Get in on the fun on its dog-friendly patio where everyday brings a new frozen drink, new beers slide into rotation regularly, and the burgers are some of the best in town." - Leslie Chatman
