The D.C.-Area Restaurant Openings You Should Know About This November | Eater DC

"A music-loving cocktail lounge in Midtown Center from Darren Hinds and executive chef Lonie Murdock (the duo behind Caribbean-chic Isla next door) pairs classic cocktails with inventive remixes—like a dirty martini sharpened with sake, tomato brine, and a spice tincture—and small “Love Bites” sourced from Isla, including plantain chips with a chile-lime sauce and wagyu oxtail patties with fermented mango sauce. The stylish room flaunts jaguar-shaped table lamps, fringed decor, and wavy pink chandeliers; hours run 4 p.m. to late Wednesday to Saturday, with happy hour from 4–6 p.m." - Emily Venezky

A Showstopping Restaurant With Caribbean Flair Opens Soon Downtown | Eater DC

"A few steps from its sibling, this DJ-driven cocktail lounge from Lonie Murdock and partner Darren Hinds spotlights great music and vibrant, tropical-leaning cocktails in a more intimate (yet still sizable) 2,000-square-foot space. Drinks will span polished classics and playful “Goodlove remixes,” with some Caribbean bites in the mix; a signature standout is the Overproof Papi, a clarified rum-and-Coke carried over from Murdock’s Toronto menu. Designed to extend the glam while keeping things comfortable, it aims to make guests part of the vibe." - Lulu Chang

I placed an order at the beginning of July for over $100 worth of products. You have no choice but to order a large order because they don’t allow you to order less. Red flag number 1. On August 8th I reached out to customer service to see where my order was because nothing in the website when I ordered or received a confirmation stated it would take this long to receive the product.I received a very generic answer back about staffing and dry ice shortages. September rolls around and still no product. However Instagram was more than happy to let myself and other purchasers of their product know they were having loads of fun preparing for food expos. Funny how they have product to travel around with promoting but nothing to ship out. After multiple comments exchanges back and forth between other purchasers on Instagram we got GoodLove’s attention. I received a DM from them on September 30th. Still waiting for the products to arrive. Looks like they were shipped October 7th. I would not recommend ordering from them. I wish I would have came here first to read the reviews. It seems others too have waited a very long time for very sub par products. I would skip this brand just in customer service alone and wait times. I will update when the product actually arrives.

These were NOT worth the wait. Biscuits are greasy and gummy with bad aftertaste. Cinnamon rolls are tasteless and salty with a sour aftertaste. Threw them away. Super disappointing because they were expensive and it took 3 months to get my order. Their customer service was horrible as well. When you ask for an order update, they eventually just send you a generic email with no specific information. Then they say “we are sorry you didn’t receive the FIVE email updates we sent to everyone” … I did receive those, but no personal communication, and they sent “five updates” because their shipping dates kept changing to later and later… they weren’t even proactive updates because they sent them AFTER each promised ship date passed. They also delete any comments on social media that aren’t positive. So don’t go by the comments on their posts… Wish I never saw their shark tank episode because their product and service is one of the worst I’ve ever experienced!

I think I can help here. Goodlove might need more clear cooking instructions with your biscuits and cinnamon buns because looking at the pictures of the cooked biscuit especially compared to the pictures on the Facebook page for Goodlove the ones presented by a previous reviewer, Amanda DGR, look very undercooked. Additionally, I can see where the biscuit on the left has been cut open and butter added and would conclude that the melted butter shown on the plate came from the added butter on the hot undercooked biscuit. I am adding the picture from Facebook for comparison as well as Amanda’s for comparison. I am guessing by the other positive responses and those by the sharks that the product is delicious when cooked properly.

I would give it zero stars at this point if I could. I ordered my friend on August 12th for October pre order delivery. I thought that was crazy at the time but was willing to wait. It is now Nov 4th - almost 2 1/2 months later and nothing. I emailed the company in mid-October and they gave me a canned answer about fresh ingredients and orders are in the works. I just assumed I would ship late in the month of October but here we are in November and no order and also no acknowledgement from them company that my date has come and gone. Absolutely horrible customer experience.

Pizza crust tried for the first time, omg so fantastic! Puffed, soft, TASTY. I've been gluten free for more than 30 years and can honestly say that Goodlove Foods KNOCK IT OUT OF THE PARK. LA LA love the biscuits and pastry too ♥️

I placed my order in March 2025 and patiently waited 5 months for my order. I ordered the cinnamon rolls, biscuits and pastry dough. So far I have been so underwhelmed and disappointed. The cinnamon rolls were so bland. The dough needed salt desperately and you could barely taste the cinnamon sugar on the inside. The icing was nothing more than extremely watered (milk) down powdered sugar- it was suggested that you can add their icing mix to cream cheese to make a richer icing. But, if I'm paying that amount for cinnamon rolls, just make the icing that way and package it for customers. The biscuits I made just this morning, and now I am fighting nausea like you wouldn't believe. The biscuits were so greasy that they couldn't even cook fully in the middle, they just stayed gummy (photo attached of the excess butter drippings when I removed them from the oven). As of now, I'm not in a hurry to make the pastry dough. I was really excited about these products and am upset that they did not live up to what they are supposed to be, especially for the money I paid.

This is the best, most delicious gluten free products I’ve ever had! Even more, it is so user friendly! When I tried the puff pastry, I was shocked! I’ve never had much luck with other puff pastry brands in the past, but this one takes the cake! The biscuits are soo flavorful and buttery. The cinnamon rolls… simply put, YUM! Please never go out of business! I will be so sad!

LOVE the biscuits! They taste like my homemade GF biscuits. I like being able to pop one in the oven when I am “needing” some homemade bread/roll. The pizza crust was good. Haven’t cooked the puff pastry yet. (Will update later.) The cinnamon rolls are not bad, but they taste more like the canned Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. They don’t rise like the cinnamon rolls I like. Also, the icing is not what I expected. Not my fave. (Ordered because I saw this on Shark Tank.) Update (08/18/25): LOVE the puff pastry dough! Flaky and buttery! I add just a sprinkling of salt and several shakes of cinnamon-sugar when I bake it as a turnover. (I don’t use all the dough at one time.)
