Where to Eat on Vacation in Victoria, British Columbia | Eater Seattle

"A popular morning bakery with lines even before the 10 a.m. opening, known for delicate, flaky pastries like a standout pain au chocolat and rotating monthly specialties (for example, a mango-lime and coconut poppyseed croissant). The shop also offers savory options — think a leek gratin Danish or a cheese-and-jalapeño twist — that showcase strong pastry technique across both sweet and savory selections." - Jay Friedman

Wow, the staff were so friendly, the guy has the biggest and brightest smile that makes you feel welcomed as soon as you enter. The pastries are delicious and beautifully made. It’s our first time trying it as we’re new to the area and live very close. Definitely will stop by again when they are open. The reason I say this is because the working hours and days are very few. But definitely come if you’re able to, you won’t be disappointed!

How do they make everything taste so damn good?! I got off my bus early to stop in here and I'm so glad I did. They had free raspberry Madeleines at the front counter that were 100% the best I've ever had. The staff is great too, my one pastry was a bit small, so they threw in a second one. Definitely visit if you can!

It’s hard leaving this review because it’s so good and I don’t want to expose this hidden gem. But this is it. This is the best bakery in town. You found it. The search is over. Sigh

Flying into Victoria from NYC, it was my mission to find a great pastry shop. My time in Victoria was brief, and I tried to make it a point to get to GoodSide Pastry before they sold out on the only day I was both here and they would be open. I arrived after they were “officially sold out” but the kindest woman offered to sell me the last two cream puffs they had - blackberry vanilla and s’mores. And they were phenomenal. I’m going to need to fly back in order to sample everything else.

Goodside is one of my favourite bakeries in town. The owners and staff are lovely and always super welcoming. The treats and pastries are delicious, unique and visually stunning. The drip coffee is also very good and this is coming from a non coffee drinker. Do not miss out on this Victoria gem!

I was there performing some property maintenance, a gentleman from goodside was taking out the garbage. He seen our crew and out of kindness offered some pastries. Absolutely 10/10 made the crews day!

I bought some cakes here for the first time for my birthday. These looked very beautiful, and it tasted delicate and amazing. I also would love to try other cakes and pastries. Staffs are super friendly!

My favourite pastry/dessert place in Victoria! Cream puffs are always the best among all the desserts. I found their chocolate-based desserts are too rich for me, so I cannot say their chocolate desserts are the best, but light cream puffs and fruit-based light desserts are always top-notch. Also, croissants are great as well. You should try it!! Worth waiting for that line 😄

Yelp
Went here after I saw the recommendation on Reddit thread. I came here after I went to another local bakery, so I was just looking to only get one thing. They have seasonal menu, and change it every month. I asked for recommendations and ended up with the savoury danish, street corn danish. It was good but the Danish not crispy enough. Sweet corn is something interesting and new to me, I don't hate it so I should try more of it. Will come back! Their sweet stuff looks really good.

Yelp
This bakery was literally the highlight of my trip to Victoria. I arrived 15 minutes before opening and was second in line. I ordered a few pastries but I'm obsessed with the blood orange hibiscus poppyseed croissant and the blackberry yuzu mousse stone. I believe the menu does change every month and they post it on their instagram page. Highly recommend to get there earlier in the day as they close once they sell out.

Yelp
We came on a Sunday at around 12:30pm and saw the sign outside that said almost sold out. We ran in and unfortunately they didn't have many products left. Later on, we checked their Instagram and realized that they start selling out early in the day. If you want their goods, be sure to get there bright and early (before they even open) to guarantee you get all the goods that you want. We ended up getting 2 regular croissants, 2 pain au Chocolat and 2 of the hazelnut chocolate cookies. Both types of croissants were super buttery and flaky. The butter flavour was really strong which is exactly how I love my croissants. The outside was crispy and the lamination inside was perfect. The hazelnut chocolate cookies were my favorite. When we got them they were nice and hot but I wouldn't recommend eating they when they are hot as you lose the chewiness. Once cooled, omg, they are so chewy and addictive. Good amount of sweetness. Loved the additional crunch from the hazelnut. The cookie itself was also crunchy on the outside. Would definitely recommend Overall if you plan on coming to Goodside pastry. Come early and come ready to open your wallet because your going to want 1 of EVERYTHING. Definitely try there cookies and croissants
