There’s a few hating guys in there they didn’t want to give me spicier hot sauce they had there but the nice older lady preparing my burrito she didn’t say much but got some from the back and put some. 2 guys started trippin on her but she continued working.

Google
The quesadilla is possibly the worst quesadilla I have ever had. With barely any cheese and the quesadilla literally fell apart instantly. I was forced to eat it like a taco instead of a quesadilla, this was a horrible experience. The chicken was good but I would only order burritos from Gordos

justin

Google
We walked in the store, floor was soaking wet, Service was extremely apathetic and unhelpful, as well as a little judgmental because we didn’t know what we wanted yet. Given the fact that everything is over priced apart from the regular burrito. That was not good. They do not cook the tortillas, resulting in a sweaty soggy burrito. With a Center that was still slightly cold.

Google
their burritos are so good i can’t enjoy any other place’s burritos because nothing comes close to a Gordo burrito. literally one of the best things i’ve ever tasted.

Google
As you’re walking in to the right, there’s an older guy there serving I recommend you not go to him. Everything was great until I asked for an extra scoop of rice and he threw a few extra grains of rice and said to me you have to get a side order. It wasn’t what he said, but how he said it, and he threw his hands up and wrap my burrito up. I almost walked out. He has a terrible attitude and he needs to watch the way he talks to customers.

Google
The food and the vibe scream Mission street. The super burrito is absolutely massive, and I regret nothing. The meats are tender and flavorful. The rice, beans, guac, and crema all dance together in your mouth. The horchata is a bit pricey, but worth the expense for the complete experience. It was a pleasure not just to eat here, but to remember life in the city as a toddler.

Google
I cannot live without my weekly (at least) comfort burrito from Gordo’s. I’ve been coming here my whole life and am so appreciative of the delicious, nourishing food and kind, dedicated people who serve it. Thank you! 🌯

Google
I not a big fan of chain food, but when I am, I go to Gordo. Some of the best burritos/tacos around. They have good sized portions and every so often, they have taco specials. Their assembly line is quick and you don't have to wait long while your food is made. Seating is a bit limited but you could take a stroll on Solano and find a random spot to sit down. The protein options are great. I recommend the carnitas.

Scarlet S.

Yelp
Food is so good and affordable! Workers are nice and service is quick- favorite go to Mexican spot. Cozy atmosphere- very casual!

Yelp
The food taste has gone from good to very bad. Specially on mondays. I always pay for chips and last Monday the chips were not good at all. I've noticed they're no longer tasty crunchy and are now stale. The chileverde quesadilla/burrito has no taste. I brought it up in a good manner to the clerk that the chups were stale. Which she immediately made a sarcastic Comment "oh deseguro las chips estan malas". Which then lead to one of the older time guy (slim guy)to yank them out of my hand and toss them onto the trash in a bad demeanor. He mumbled words about me as a customer with his colleagues. Which I walked back to him and asked him to repeat what he said. He no longer had the courage to say it. Estos señores les gusta hablar grocerias de sus clientes y burlarse de ellos. Pero cuando les preguntas que eatan diciendo, se quedan calladitos. La comida se a echo muy desabrida. Note I've visited this place since approximately 2005 as a kid.

Ray B.

Yelp
Everyone has their local burrito spot and Gordon's on Solano is ours. They have consistently been a good shop for the four years I have lived in the area. No complaints. BB

Yelp
Oh my.. what happened? The quality of the food at Gordo's has plummeted. I got the steak burrito with a side of carnival, rice, and chips and guac. Chipotle has better tasting food than this. The food was cold, bland to the extreme, and made me almost puke. Disgusting. Never again. Gordo's used to be yummy.

Jocelyn C.

Yelp
This place has been here for Years!!! Dang even before I was in high school. That's a long time! It's a favorite place some of us go to late at night when I was in my 20's, especially. I live in Vegas now, and visited home (the bay) during the holidays, and coming here was definitely nostalgic. Still very good burritos! Dang, writing this review right now makes me want some now, but I'm in Vegas. Lol. Of course, at times it will be hard to find parking, because it's on a busy street, but when at night, there's lots of parking during the week night. Gordo's is definitely the spot though. Not much seating, but most of the time, it's for take out anyways.

John M.

Yelp
Food has too much salt. I agree with many people who say food use to be better. There's no consistency of getting the same amount of food when you order. The manager needs to train his staff better. I hope the owner reads the reviews people posted

Kin L.

Yelp
Review is for takeout only. The order was made quickly after I placed it. The food was hot and items were accurate: regular chicken burritos. It was missing the condiments though. I'm not certain if they typically put the salsa on the burrito or on the side. Either way, I didn't taste or see it. Overall it was a decent size however it tasted very dry and wasn't that flavorful. I initially thought they also forgot to put Pico in it but it was just placed on one corner of the burrito. Overall nothing to write home about. The service was efficient enough that I may give them another try if I'm in the area. Otherwise I would pass.

Calia L.

Yelp
This is a forever favorite for me and my family. We have been coming here ever since I can remember. The prices are so reasonable and every burrito is made with love and friendship. I got the beef burrito with black beans rice and their green medium salsa. It's the perfect dinner and the steak is always nicely cooked. My mom got the super steak burrito with no beans sour cream and rice. She loves the pico cause there's not too much cilantro. Everyone is so friendly here and the service is fast. I used to always come here with my late father. Having a meal from here feels like home with him.

S H.

Yelp
I will never order from Gordos again. I found a pebble in my food and question the cleanliness of my food. I could have cracked my tooth had I bitten hard.

Chance M.

Yelp
East bay burrito review #28 First taste 3/7 Meat 4/7 Beans 6/7 Rice 2/7 Tortilla 3/7 Cheese 4/7 Overall 3/7 rounded down. Rice is such a non factor in burritos that it feels weird to have strong feelings on it, but this rice really provides no good texture or flavor to the burrito. In fact aside from the beans (refried in this location) there weren't any ingredients to really enjoy. A grilled tortilla would help a lot.

Kristin N.

Yelp
The best family meal out there! $40 will feed a family of 4, twice. It's the best deal in Albany. Giant portion of beans, rice, 2 meats, tortillas, hot sauce, and pico. Order ahead to avoid the line. Forever a favorite

Kitkit T.

Yelp
Service sucks. I wish they were better at serving their customers. I was very excited to come here since it's been so long since the last time I came here. I ordered online, unfortunately it's ALWAYS bad. I tried to rush so that I can make necessary changes. For someone who is allergic to a lot of things, I feel bad that I am picky with my orders. Anyway, I checked the box where it says (no beans) and for some reason the order did NOT pick this. I came and said "I'm picking up and I'm hoping it doesn't have beans because I'm allergic to beans." Now, instead of empathizing, she just handed me my order and said "no, it doesn't say no beans" then looked away. I don't know why we even work in customer service and not really want or even be remotely good at the job. I'm sad. My tummy is also sad. I ended up ordering something new . At least I made some random person happy. Instead of throwing the food away, I gave it to the next person in line ! NOW THAT's what you call customer service. I don't think I'll come back nor will I recommend this place again. There's a really good spot nearby called "El Tucán". Amazing food with A+ service. Closed Mondays (that's why I came here). If you haven't tried it yet.... Skip Gordo's and go to El Tucán!!!

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Went to Gordos yesterday since I was in the area and my daughter loves their chile verde. $30 for 2 Super Burritos. I should have paid more attention- they asked if I wanted sour cream and guacamole. Usually those two things come in a super burrito. But $5 extra for guacamole and sour cream??!!! GTFO. There are so many other taqueria places in the Bay and other places give you free chips and salsa. Also- why are they rushing me through the line? There was 1 other person in the restaurant and no one behind me. Never Again.

Rebecca R.

Yelp
Love Gordo's ordinarily but tonight's delivery was very disappointing- ordered sour cream and avocado and there was neither. In addition I said absolutely NO rice and of course it was thick on my burrito. Horrible. I scraped lots into my dog's dish. Hooray. But boo to Gordos.

Meia M.

Yelp
Best burritos in the bay. Their quesadillas are also really good! My favorite combos are (1) black bean, cheese, rice, pico de gallo, green hot sauce, sour cream, & spinach tortilla or the (2) super chicken burrito with everything + sour cream. So good!

Rich ..

Yelp
Missing the extra meat and guacamole that I paid extra for. Doesn't seem like they pay attention to order details.

Samantha R.

Yelp
RAT POOP IN MY BURRITO Called to ask them for a refund because while I was eating my burrito I came across it (luckily I hadn't eaten much) - was met with "that's not possible" "it's burnt rice" - it is 100% rat poop. I put it in water and it stained the water brown, then became soft- does rice do that?! Was hung up on by whoever took my call after being told "don't make this a bigger deal than it needs to be" - sorry sir, it's kind of a big deal for me to get food poisoning while I'm 9 months pregnant. No sorry, nothing. NOTHING! Luckily they gave us a refund - will never be eating here again and so so disappointed because my family and I have been coming here since I was a kid.

Aisha R.

Yelp
Gordos is good place to go burritos and tacos!!! They also have Gordos plates where you can do it yourself like make your own taco and pick your topping. I would recommend this place if your looking for something quick dinner. I've been coming here for ages I've always loved Gordos!

Adam A.

Yelp
It's a hit or miss at the location on college ave. Now I'm going to the location on San Pablo. Or maybe I'll try the SF location when I'm out there.

Nyla J.

Yelp
Budget freindly $10 or less, simple, clean, fast service and food is tasty. I dont usually eat Mexican food because 9/10 i always taste a hint of fabuloso in the food, but this place did not, therefore this place is a win win. I tasted all the seasoning, verde sauce, cheese, black beans and guacamole.... chicken was moist and tender. It was delicious! Parking is street and residential parking, located on a busy street with so many restaurants. Seating is limited and you can be in and out in less than 10 minutes. I will return!

Kathy L.

Yelp
I AM HERE FOR THE CRUNCHY CARNITAS TACOS & GREEN SALSA! My order: 1 crunchy taco with carnitas, extra green salsa and guacamole. No sour cream. 5/5! They put some oil down on the grill, toss a corn tortilla on the oil and slap a cheese on it, let it crisp up. They take out a chunk of carnitas (they pack on the meat) and chop it up then assemble. Tortilla with melted cheese, carnitas, add a dollop of guacamole and a boatload of green salsa (per my request). I even ask for an extra side of green salsa because I love it that much. One taco is enough to get me full and is my go to order. My husband always gets a carnitas burrito with spinach tortilla. I have tried it but I am not a huge fan, and it does not compare to my crunchy taco. The burrito is very uneven. I like each of my bites to be the "perfect bite" with a little bit of everything. With the burrito some bites is just meat while other bites is just rice. Not my jam so that is why I prefer my crunchy taco. Parking can be limited, seating is limited as well. It's more of a grab and go situation. If you ever give this place a chance, please get the CRUNCHY CARNITAS TACO.

Torie Beth H.

Yelp
I just ordered a carnitas super burrito. It seems like it is the same size of a regular. I guess it's considered super because of the cheese. It was less than stellar. The carnitas were too salty. In spite of adding and paying for guacamole and sour cream plus the request for green sauce. It was throat clogging dry. For $24 I should have listened to my inner self.....do not order. Ugh!

Abraham M.

Yelp
Came today for a pickup order and what a Disappointment of an experience today at this location. My burrito was filled 80% with rice and beans while there was little meat if any in my bites. Although yes the price is cheaper than some other restaurants and they do have a good service and friendly ambiance , that shouldn't make the burritos have barely any meat. Next time I will have to make sure they put enough meat I guess!

Aimee G.

Yelp
I've been ordering food from this place for years.. it makes sad to have to write this review. The food had absolutely gone down hill. The burrito was mostly rice and beans, even if you ask for extra meat and cheese. The meat is dry and you barely get any Pico or green sauce. This is not a one time thing it just get worse every time I've ordered. Super disappointing..it use to be so good.

Marian B.

Yelp
I LOVE GORDOS! I have been a faithful customer for over 30 years! Today, my son Doordashed me my favorite burrito and I was totally shocked and disappointed!! I believe that since we were not standing there watching that, they thought it would be ok to not put the amount of ingredients that's typical in a SUPER burrito. I barely had rice, beans or Carnitas. I ordered the same burrito in person and it was fabulous! I am very, very disappointed, GORDOS! You should not do your customers that way just because they are not able to be there in person, SHAME ON YOU... A very disappointed 30+ year customer

Teale F.

Yelp
My go to spot for a quick, reasonably priced, relatively healthy dinner. My only complaint is that, as a vegetarian, they could be a little cleaner.

Joan A.

Yelp
Decent for a quick bite. As a disclaimer, I'm admittedly picky about my Mexican food. I've been to this location twice and the food was inconsistent. The burritos seem to be the way to go for consistency. I've ordered quesadillas from here twice and the second time unfortunately it was very very juicy and therefore falling apart as I tried to eat it. The bottom of the takeout container had a layer of fluid which I didn't find appealing. Since this is primarily a takeout spot, there are no restrooms here. Parking on solano can be a little crowded during busy times but the residential areas adjacent may have a spot to park for two hours. This is probably not going to be my go-to spot for Mexican food anytime soon, but I may come here when I need a quick bite.

Ally C.

Yelp
I've been coming here all my life, service is always good and they make the burrito so fast in front of you. I can probably count on one hand the amount of times they've gotten my order wrong, and each time it happened I got a free replacement and they were very kind. Burritos are amazing and pretty cheap as well, I rarely eat inside but the vibe isn't bad.

Daniel H.

Yelp
This place is a strange Taqueria. The food is good. I've only ordered a Chicken Burrito and it always has taste. The chips and salsa is a joke. The chips are very plain. The salsa is nothing special. They are stingy with the little salsa cups. They will take away the green salsa if you ask for red. The staff has always been rude for years and years. They will not give you a lime for your food if requested. There is no wash room to wash your hands if you want. I would not consider this authentic Mexican food. It's more like the Taco Bell of Taquerias.

Barbara B.

Yelp
Love the burritos here! Very large with quality ingredients! Everyone is very nice as well!!!

Jana C.

Yelp
First time I have ever tried them--- Wait-- maybe 12 years ago I went to the one near Rockridge. Super tasty and well-cooked proteins, creamy beans... very satisfying. Does it stand out in flavor and offerings? Not really. But I can picture this place as solid and consistent and reasonable!

Rob C.

Yelp
Once again, they have angry, impatient jerks making their burritos. My brain was a bit fried from a 14 meeting day and I had just got done with an hour commute. I cannot support a place that treats their customers like this. I so wanted to give this guy the business, but instead just turned around and silently left before finishing my order. I was absolutely p1ssed though .. Ordering a few burritos should not be accompanied by passive aggressive bs dished out by the burrito guy because you don't order it the exact way he wants. Screw this place... I'm done. I would recommend the taco truck at Hotsy Totsy, Talaveras, and the Hot Shop (on San Pablo). They actually are happy to treat you like a customer should be treated.

Iris H.

Yelp
Huge disappointment! I ordered a super burrito, carnitas, with guacamole. The tortilla/burrito had no cheese! The guacamole was impossible to see, once I opened it up to be sure. I called in and they offered me a new burrito, to make it right. I appreciate it. But it's too much travel time for now.

Bob R.

Yelp
My order is rather bland and apparently that is the funniest shyt to them because they talk crazy about not realizing I understand Spanish. Or maybe they do realize and don't give af. Either way they are super rude, getting slower by the year and the quality of the food is nowhere the same as it used to be. Sad to see how far this pce has fallen.

Orlando J.

Yelp
I really don't know if it's fair to leave a review as I have only had their Super Chicken Burrito with, for additional cost, Guacamole, Sour Cream, and Cheese. Normally, chicken borders tasteless especially in Burritos and Tacos, but the chicken here was so tasty I figure if they can make the chicken that good, the steak and carnitas must be just as yummy.

Karen C.

Yelp
Got the beef super burrito, and I felt like the beef was overcooked, and the burrito itself wasn't very flavorful. I gave 2 stars because the portion's pretty big, and it was generally overall very fresh. Another negative is that the inside seating was cold, didn't feel very welcoming (but I went on a quiet evening when it was chilly out, and I guess they decided not to run any heat)

Gordon B.

Yelp
Things have definitely changed a lot here over the years. Their service has gone downhill year after year. Called in to make an order, came to pick it up, the wrong item was made and they wouldn't accommodate on switching it out but rather tried telling me to take what they made. Do better!

Lulani S.

Yelp
If you're from the East Bay you already know what it is. Gordos is THAT spot. Quick food and friendly people, I like to practice my Spanish here and they're always encouraging and giving me new words. Definitely go in person so you can watch your order being prepared right in front of you and you can make sure your order is correct.

Alex L.

Yelp
To all the people complaining about how terrible Gordo's is you sound like entitled jerks. To all the people claiming they have been coming for years and it's so bad now...clowns. If you think the staff is rude maybe you should check yourself first. I've been coming to Gordo for 27 years. Thos is my first time back in a while and it was just as I remember when I was 3, 15, 22, 30 and every age in between. It hasn't changed. The food is delicious. The burritos are still huge. The staff is still lovely. And the prices have barely changed...in DECADES. If you have such bad taste that you think you should have gone to Taco Bell or Chipotle instead, then of course you don't like a quality burrito like Gordo's has to offer. I also noticed most of the negative comments were about the beef burritos. Honestly, no one should be eating beef so I'm not surprised it was gross. Just stop. 10/10 I will come here till the day I die For reference: I'm 5'11" basketball palming sized hands. These burritos are not small!

Jeremi W.

Yelp
I went yesterday. I'm a huge fan of the chile verde tacos. Well, I got a chicken burrito that was AWFUL!! To start, I'm not sure what's with the tortillas they use for the burrito but they are terrible. They taste bad and they fall apart. And I don't mean fall apart because they are overstuffed, I mean they sweat in the foil and start to turn to literal mush. I took two bites before I couldn't take it and tried to turn it into a burrito bowl, tossing the tortillas in the trash. From here, I already didn't think the burrito was good, but airy tossing the tortilla, it was evident that the inside was just as bad as out. I'm so so upset. Also got boyfriend a steak quesadilla that was COMPLETELY charred! Burnt beyond edible. Gosh it's like they don't even care about the quality of food they're putting out. It's so depressing.

Ana B.

Yelp
Update: Wow! This is the best burrito from this place. To The lady that made my burrito tonight, thank you and it's so delicious! I usually get like 5 pcs of meat but tonight was the best the burrito ever tasted!!!!!! Everytime the man is working, I don't stop by. I ordered the super steak burrito and barely any steak . I count like 10-15 pieces only! Whenever I order from other spots, there's a bunch of steak. This place is skimpy af . Some of my friends like it but they are not big meat eaters.

Wendy L.

Yelp
During the pandemic, we had been ordering Gordo through DoorDash but we've starting ordering directly from Gordo on their website and picking up. Ordering ahead is the way to go since there can be quite a long line to order in the restaurant. These burritos are classics. My favorites are the super carnitas and chile verde burritos - super delicious and definitely good value. A super burrito is sufficient for two people...but it's so darn tasty that you'll probably want to gorge yourself. There isn't a dedicated parking lot but generally, street parking is pretty easy.

J S C.

Yelp
Gordo's Never Fails! Hadda go for my 1st freedom burrito after fully vaxxed! No question what my 1st meal out would be!! Of the thousand taquerias in the east bay, from Pinole to San Leandro, there are only 4 with to-die-for carnitas & pollo asado both, and Gordo is #1 in our book!! We have spent 28yrs trying each new taqueria and truck that arises and still Gordo reigns supreme beating out Los Pericos by a smidge because I've never had on lump of gristle in my meal. Grind on with your fat burritos and freaky fast service!!

Emma S.

Yelp
When my sons were in kindergarten and second grade, we lived in University Village while I attended UC Berkeley. Now, over a decade later, we still make the trek over the San Rafael-Richmond Bridge several times a year for these burritos. They're a family favorite. Always satisfying. The shredded chicken is my favorite. The pinto beans and salsa are always fresh. The portions are generous that I always end up with two meals instead of one. I tried ordering online this time and they got the whole order correct and it was ready at the specified time, even though I'd placed it hours in advance. Solid execution start to finish. I hadn't been in since COVID-19, but they've got plastic barriers up to shield customers and employees. Gloves and masks were being worn. I'll admit we've never explored the whole menu. We've all found our favorites and return to them time and time again. When I asked my boys why Gordo's are their favorite burritos, they just shrugged and said, they're just always really good. What more can I say?

Sabrina C.

Yelp
I just spent $28 at this location and it will be the last time I support it. I grew up in the Rockridge area and everyone around knows that Gordo's is a staple in the community. It's been around since I was a teenager and I've supported Gordo's for years. I usually go to the College location but today I wanted a burrito with refried beans. The College Ave location only has black beans and pinto beans. I walked into the Albany location and I ordered two burritos; the restaurant was packed as usual. The guy that was steaming the tortillas did the most disgusting thing ever! He was wearing an apron that was covered in grease, crumbs and lord knows what else. Right before he grabs my tortilla out of the steamer and he takes his hands and wiped down his apron several times. I was furious! His apron looked like it hadn't been washed in weeks. The guy that was adding the meat and rice took a filthy rag and wiped all the the extra rice on the countertop and brushed it right back in with the rest of the rice. I was completely turned off. I couldn't believe it. It just made me wonder if that's what Gordo employees do in front of customers, what are they doing behind closed doors when customers aren't present. I love the College Ave and San Francisco locations, but I will no longer be supporting the Albany location.

Young B.

Yelp
I ordered using their online ordering system today for a group at work. Everything seemed good until I got back. Ummmm forgot the chips and guacamole, as well as the 3 people who asked for their hot sauce on the side. They got none. Dry burritos. I called to complain. He said how do you want to handle this? Do you want to get it now? I said no I drove 30 minutes + to get the food in the first place. You charged me for something I did not get. He refunded me the $2 and something but that's obviously not the point is it. He asked, were the burritos good otherwise? I said, well folks who had no hot sauce for their burritos, no. He said sorry about that and then hung up on me!!! WTF! Never order from their online Revel system. I posted a good review of their burritos before but that was in person ordering.

Goose B.

Yelp
First off, I have been going to this Gordos for over 3 decades, yes, I really love their food and appreciate the consistency. Anyone who posts a negative review is either uptight, or should possibly stick to more hoity toity fare. Take that in mind when you read the reviews. Carnitas is consistently great, I know my carnitas, and the flavor is always there. Once in a blue moon it can be a bit fatty, but it is very rare and it IS fried pork folks. Chile Verde is on point, always. The pollo asado is the best grilled chicken around, flavorful and juicy. The boiled chicken is spot on, not really my thing, but would be perfect for kids (I would assume) or people with a desire for something a bit more tame. I have gotten the carne asada a few times, it's good, but not why I come here. Sure, some of the people making burritos could be a bit less than warm seeming sometimes, but put it in perspective. They deal daily with some uptight folks with ridiculous expectations of what a quick taqueria should be, especially with some whacky specific orders that are very self-involved (and/or people who use the word "guac"). I am a white dude. Yes, I speak Spanish, but I have NEVER felt a disgruntled vibe from any of the locations, whether I speak Spanish to them or not. Treat people with respect, through life in general, and typically the good vibe comes right back to you (yes, there ARE some jerks in the world, but let that s**t slide off you, life is too short). Anyways, enough of my diatribe review...Gordo, y'all are awesome, I hope you're around until I can't chew my food anymore. ¡Buena salud a Ustedes! Gracías por su comida y buena suerte por muchos años en la futura...Órale. Peace.

Josh F.

Yelp
I recently moved to the area and recently tried Gordo's. I'm not a taqueria expert, but I've eaten at my fair share in the area. The food was, relatively speaking, inexpensive and the portions were pretty good. The atmosphere is down to earth. I got 3 carnitas tacos (crispy), and the flavor was OK but I found it a bit too greasy for my liking. I had a tough time getting through taco #3. All that said, I realize carnitas have a lot of fat juices, and of course a crispy taco had to get that way somehow, so I think I'll try again, but a chicken burrito instead.

Yelp
Have not had a Gordos super burrito since the start of the pandemic since I moved out of the area, yesterday I was passing through Albany and decided to stop to pickup some food to take with us, walked in place looked the exact as years ago, waited in a small line then ordered and was asked as they always did before do you want guacamole and sour cream and I said no guacamole but I guess whoever made my super all meat burrito added guacamole cause when I got back to Fremont and cut the burrito it half it had guacamole and I am allergic to avocados so I ended throwing it out, come on Gordos either write down the orders or something cause I just wasted $12 plus tip for nothing and if I pass by next time I will not stop by.
