"Tucked away on a residential tree-lined section of Greenwood Avenue, Gorgeous George’s seasonal menu is filled with surprises like spring lamb ribs and Mediterranean pairings with local seafood. Although the restaurant is praised for its warm and relaxing, romantic ambiance, it’s best to call ahead to make sure that the dining area is open, as it transitioned to mostly offering takeout during the pandemic." - Sabra Boyd

George catered an amazing lunch for 25 staff at our school. They are the perfect offering for groups with dietary restrictions. Chicken, lamb, beef kabab, vegetarian falafel, lemon potatoes, roasted veggies, hummus, spinach and cheese pies. Delicious! Their garlic sauce and basil salad dressing steal the show. So much food! Nearly all of it is gluten and dairy free. We love their dinners and this is the first time we tried their catering. I couldn't recommend more!

Chef George catered my parent's 50th wedding anniversary party, and we could not have been more delighted! Gorgeous George's is my parents' favorite restaurant, so first, to be able to have Chef George prepare the food for their celebration was very special. Our experience was so easy and smooth, Chef George is warm and welcoming, and such a delightful man! When we met to discuss and decide on a menu, he made us coffee, and we had delightful conversation. The pick up of food was easy, a food warmer was included, so we could keep the warm things warm until it was time to set the food out. We just needed to be sure we had space enough in the car to fit it all, there was so much food! There were extra dishes, all of it delicious and delectable. Our guests commented many times on how beautiful and delicious the food was. (We dined on the yummy left-overs for a week.) :) Chef George, thank you, you made our party even more wonderful and special. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I was here for an event, but they had hands-down the absolute best Mediterranean food, or some of the best food in general, that I have ever eaten. The event had out, about 20 different dishes, was done perfectly, and with great excellence. The interior has great ambiance, vibrant colors and art on the walls, and candles on the tables. It is family run by a couple, and the husband prepared all the food, while the wife was our server. Both were so kind and generous, and emphasized they wanted it to feel like we were welcomed into their home for a meal. As I understand it, they mostly do take-out normally, because they lost all their staff during the pandemic, and I don't know if they have plans to open up to normal dining or not in the future. But definitely one of the best dinners I've had.

Google
We came here for an early dinner only to find out that they were doing take out only. After reading the reviews, we decided to just order a few dishes and bring it home. After we ordered our food, the owner/cook was nice enough to offer us some bottled waters while we waited. I was a little surprised at how heavy the take out bags were when we left. We god home and OH MY GOSH, the food here is so amazing! The portions were huge, everything is so fresh and tasty, and WHY OH WHY can't we have a gorgeous George in Hawaii haha. The mezza plate had tabouli, falafel, Salad, hummus, babaghanouje, and stuffed grape leaves. Everything was so delicious. We also had a steak plate of sorts, I forgot the name, but I remember the steak being so flavorful and tender. This place is definitely worth visiting, it's stellar.

Google
I found Gorgeous George's from websites recommending it as a place to try while in Seattle. They were absolutely right! We came in close to closing time and ordered two George's combo entrees and one kafta kabob plate. The owner, George, mentioned he was running low on rice (since it was close to close), but offered to make us more which we took him up on. He truly loves his job and it shows in his cooking. The meat was seasoned to perfection and very tender. The garlic sauce in the plates complemented the meat well, but the yogurt sauce also went well with it. The dressing in the salads was slightly sweet and was a nice compliment to the somewhat bitter lettuce. Not to mention, he is very generous. The plates were filled to the top and we were able to eat this a second day. The prices are fantastic for the cuts of meat and the amount provided. We got a chance to talk with George while we were waiting for our food. He is such a kind man, with a very positive outlook, who really cares about people. We are only sad he does not have a restaurant in Texas. Of note, he did mention it has been hard getting staff since COVID so he does take out only on weekdays.

Google
Great place for Med takeout. The falafels were among the best I’ve had on other continents. Grandmas Chicken was so tender and perfectly seasoned. Get. The. Falafels. Too.

Google
Amazing choice to have take-out from (no dine-ins as of now)! The food is really delicious. I've had the best dolmas (stuffed grape leaves) ever here! The grilled salmon and fried cauliflower are extremely good too! The portions are pretty big. On a nice day, go picnic with your take-out to nearby greenlake 😋🌳

Google
We had Gorgeous George’s cater for our holiday party this year, and everything was delicious! They go above and beyond in service, making sure you have everything you need. When people at the party heard the food was from George’s, they were so excited. This restaurant treats you like family, and genuinely wants to help you have an amazing time. The lamb skewers were incredible, but we also loved that the hummus, baba g, falafel, salad, etc is all dairy free and gluten free. Try them! You’ll love them.

Vincent D.

Yelp
My favorite Mediterranean restaurant in Seattle and the best hummus on the planet. I usually get the chicken kabob (shish tawook) or George's combo but you can't go wrong with anything. The portions are almost too generous with plenty of food to share or have for leftovers. George is the real deal and he and his family will always treat you like you're their favorite customer because you probably are.

Dominic P.

Yelp
awsome and amazing I wish i lived near there to eat it all day spinach pies are amazing I ate them like a pig so good but sad that I have to eat a few a time and wish I could just eat it all

Jenny P.

Yelp
Gorgeous george is also a generous george. I got take out on sunday for the first time and I was so happy with how delicious the food was! We ordered the lamb chop plate with the chili soup side and the falafel plate with the house salad side. My goodness, the generous portions and the flavorful food, is absolute chef's kiss, bravo. I had the falafel. It was soft and fluffy/crumbly, (guessing because its made in house?) and the green garlicky salad dressing is SO GOOD. I need to know what it is! George was kind enough to give us some extra hummus, baba ghannouj, and some pita; thank you George! I appreciate you triple GGG: gorgeous generous george.

Jason C.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing flavors and huge portions. My favorites are the baba ganoush (so delectably creamy and slightly smoky) and the shish touk (grilled chicken and garlic sauce). If you don't know what to order, try the combo. The prices seem higher than normal at first glance but don't worry: the portions are big (two people can split an entree plus a side) and the food tastes much better than similar places around. Note: It's take-out only. Also the owner-operator of this restaurant is very kind!

P M.

Yelp
High-quality food in a homely setting. Food is prepared right there in front of you, with generous portions and cozy service.

Yelp
Came upon George's restaurant seeking Middle Eastern food and the lamb ribs caught our eye As it stated only on week ends and wished to dine midweek I called in and must have talked to George and no problem. He needed a half hour lead time so I said go ahead Arrived on time and for some reason assumed dine in, but it was take away and that was fine The lady was so nice and welcoming and I again assumed it must be George's Mrs. She had it all bagged up so nice and such a large container for the ribs Home soon and the ribs were just fantastic A nice char not overcooked and super taste and flavor. Roasted veggies too were tops Although in a future order might ask to pass on the Brussels sprouts as not my favorite Takeaway actually worked best as could dine in leisure and there was enough leftover for two more meals Again such nice folks in a very clean setting with easy drive up parking As lamb ribs perhaps on the rarer end of food options here is a wonderful chance to give a try We will return for sure Jim at Maplelag in Minnesota

Zehra S.

Yelp
Came here yesterday for takeout with some friends and we were absolutely blown away. The service here was the best I have EVER had in seattle, the owners of this establishment are so kind and helpful. This is a hard find nowadays in this city, and I cannot emphasize enough how genuine the owners were when helping us order. As for the food, the portions were massive! We ordered some appetizers and a Greek salad and between the three of us still had so much leftover. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who's craving Mediterranean and trying to support a family owned business. I will definitely be returning!

Ashley K.

Yelp
Wow. That's honestly the only thing my partner and I could say back and forth as we dined on what's undoubtedly the best Mediterranean food in the neighborhood and (...don't tell my beloved Zaina) perhaps in Seattle?! Wow! We got a smorgasbord of different appetizers, because let's be honest they're the best things on the menu. The roasted cauliflower zahara and the dip was incredible. Nice and tangy and nutty sesame tahini. The stuffed grape leaves were so incredibly flavorful and again that dip. Whew! Loved the lemon that came with it and ended up putting a bit on everything. Their pita is great and thick, and boy of boy I could eat their spreads all day. The hummus is thick and rich and covered with excellent olive oil. And my favorite, the baba ganoush. Can never get enough. I make my own... And George's is amazing! Smoky, spiced and seasoned. Perfect The spinach pies were great, too. Crispy and comes with excellent olives, pickles and feta. And to top it all off...that baklava. Wow. Beautiful burnt honey, giving it a complex rich sweetness that wasn't as one-note as some can be. Pistachio! So good And I can't leave a review without mentioning how absolutely sweet their service is. Very considerate and kind. We'll definitely be back! Thank you!!

Morgan S.

Yelp
Gorgeous Georges is the best Mediterranean in Seattle. Don't miss out on the shrimp, salmon, Greek salad...it's all very fresh and made with love. Highly recommend!

Rena L.

Yelp
Phenomenal service and great portions! Owners were too kind with their offerings and explanations and the food was scrumptious. Gyro was great quality and salmon was seasoned very well. The lentil soup and grape leaves were also a favorite. Highly recommend this family owned local business!

Louie S.

Yelp
My family and I got catering from Chef George for Christmas Eve. The meat was unbelievable and cooked to perfection and the sides were excellent. We have been eating at gorgeous George's for over 5 years now and have never been disappointed. His food is excellent and is well worth the price.

Carla S.

Yelp
Came in for a glass of wine and a appetizer. The hummus with meat was delicious, missed the pine nuts The server was totally butt hurt when we did not order his recommendation, right to the point of ignoring us. Even though the food was good, and the place smelled amazing service is part of it won't be back.

Anna S.

Yelp
The catered food was very good and as a nonprofit organization, Emerald City Supper Club, they provided a very generous discount. They were great to work with!

Simon W.

Yelp
This food is delicious! And as a gluton free person there was still lots for me to eat. I was at a catered event and we all loved the food. Humus, Babaghanouje and salad were perfect for appetizers and the Kafta Kabob was so well spiced and tender. I will be back!

Chelsey W.

Yelp
A truly amazing, generous company with lots of amazing food, you will not be disappointed, in fact, you'll be thrilled!

Emerald City Supper Club ..

Yelp
Gorgeous George's catered our event in September 2023. We couldn't have been more pleased with the results. The food is fantastic, the menu options extensive, the portions very large, and you won't find better prices anywhere else in the city! The husband and wife team were so accommodating to our specific needs, and so wonderful to work with. In addition to food, they provide beautiful table set up and also service. I highly recommend them for any type of event you are hosting, from a casual get together to a formal, sit down multi-course dinner.

Anna C.

Yelp
Barnone, the best Mediterranean food I have tasted in a long time, not just for its scrumptious dishes but for its owners' genuine hospitality. Roula (sp?) and George give their customers that personalized attention that is heartfelt and endearing. How could I have missed this restaurant that has been around for 18 years? Open only to takeout, this quaint restaurant may be intimate in setting but sweetly generous in its friendly personality. You will feel like you're visiting family. My photos don't do the dishes justice but had a chance to dine at George's in a private group setting. The lamb was cooked to perfection. The chicken was tender and the base sauces that George uses should be bottled up. I could have gotten full just on appetizers alone. You can't go wrong with any of the options. If you are like me who has been in the dark about this wonderful restaurant, check it out. Roula will greet you with her friendly smile.

Tony C.

Yelp
The filet mignon in mushroom sauce was cooked perfectly. This steak was almost 2" thick which goes to show how incredible their cook really is. The vegetables (carrots, asparagus, zucchini) were delicious. Asparagus had a snap to it which we loved. The asparagus purée soup was so good my wife couldn't stop eating it ontop of her Mediterranean Chicken with a salad. We had lots of left overs with the two entrees for lunch tomorrow (and maybe dinner?) We recommend Gorgeous George's to everyone we know and highly recommend giving them a try. You won't regret it.

Farrah D.

Yelp
Deck the halls with bowls of hummus, falalalalalalala-fels! Holiday catering win! Treated a very hardworking staff to a most sumptuous lunch buffet and not a drop of dressing left! There were definitely second and third helpings being had! Was looking for a local neighborhood business that could feed a large staff in Greenwood and George's fit the bill! The owners are very accommodating and pleasant, and were so helpful in making recommendations for my order! The flavors are mouthwatering, meat incredibly juicy and tender, portions generous--you won't regret your choice!

Emma K.

Yelp
Gorgeous George's catered our block party for over 150 people. Not only was Gorgeous Georges incredibly generous with the quantity of food they provided, but the quality was FANTASTIC. Each dish, sauce, and dressing was delicious. It was super easy to accommodate eating desires and needs. I highly recommend Gorgeous Georges for catering!

Katherine C.

Yelp
One of our favorite restaurants in Seattle! The food is fabulous as is the service. We absolutely love Gorgeous George's.

Eric O.

Yelp
The best Greek food I've had in Seattle. The owners were extra sweet and gave us great recommendations which we got to go and ate at a nearby park. Also had a bunch of leftovers which I've been eating the last couple of days and still hits the spot while reminding me how amazing it all was fresh. Don't sleep on this neighborhood gem!

Cheri J.

Yelp
Gorgeous George's has the Best Mediterranean food in all of Seattle! Every dish is prepared with love!

Kate S.

Yelp
I needed a meal for 20 people in less than 24 hours. George met me at the door to the restaurant on off hours and I was greeted by his warm and lovely wife the next day, right on time and with a little extra thrown in. Everyone at the party loved it. Great food is made better by wonderful people.

Lana B.

Yelp
Delicious food and very nice owners. The hummous is extremely tasty and the babaganoush has that smoky taste it should have. The tabbouleh is great; the perfect parsley to bulgur ratio. The fattoush salad was pretty good as well. I enjoyed the chicken shish tawook as well, although it wasn't quite as moist as the chicken at Cafe Munir. The lentil soup was pretty good too. All in all, very good food.

Lucy L.

Yelp
Great food and great people! The owner George was so pleasant to talk to. It's take out only but definitely worth it

Amanda B.

Yelp
Got take out this weekend and the food was amazing, staff at the restaurant were generous and kind. Lots of food for your money, we will be regulars!

Suzinne P.

Yelp
Incredible food! The kabobs are delicious and the sauces are amazing (especially the green salad dressing). This is our go-to spot for birthday meals for our family! George is so kind, often coming out to see how we are doing.

Tracy N.

Yelp
I had Gorgeous George's cater for my wife's Mama Mia themed birthday party. It was everything I had hoped for. Lots of delicious food that was presented beautifully. All the flavors and the colors, everyone was raving about it all night long. And George and his staff were very helpful and very thoughtful. They even labeled everything with the allergy precautions that some of us at the party had. Overall a great experience and I highly recommend them for catering great Greek food. Thank you, Chef George!

Anita G.

Yelp
Was curious to try this place after seeing it's good rating on Yelp. When we picked up our food, we got a chance to meet George. He was incredibly warm and made us feel like we were regulars even though this was our first time trying. After learning more about him, his restaurant and his family, it made us happy to support a local business and someone who is clearly so passionate about his craft and wants to know the community. We ordered the Greek salad, falafel appetizer and chicken shawarma plate. Everything was delicious!! The Greek salad had some of the best dressing I've ever had. If you're considering trying Gorgeous Gorge's and read this far in this review - give it a try!! Support local businesses with amazing food! (Also the portion sizes are large so you'll have leftovers for lunch tomorrow, win win)

Alex B.

Yelp
A few weeks ago, I ordered a bunch of food to go for a "big birthday" celebration. This was a large order (about 30 people!) and it was important to me that guests enjoy everything. Needless to say, they did an outstanding job. They made it so easy to order, pick up, transfer the food into my car. The food (chicken kebabs, salad, hummus, baba ganoush, pita, rice, roasted vegetables) was fresh, homey, and delicious. Also, just like George and his family, the portions were generous. If you love Middle Eastern food as much as me, and want to be well taken care of as part of an upcoming event (or just want a great meal), you'd be hard pressed to find someone better to take care of you.

Tom H.

Yelp
This restaurant is a hidden gem that exceeds expectations in every aspect. The warm hospitality and charming atmosphere create a welcoming environment for diners. The diverse and flavorful menu offers delicious options for all dietary preferences. The attentive and knowledgeable staff provide exceptional service, making this restaurant an exceptional dining destination.

Layne D.

Yelp
Pita and hummus is such a classic and they nailed it here! Loved their lamb, easily one of the best i've ever had. Highly recommend going here for some delicious quality mediterranean food.

Maryam G.

Yelp
This is a stellar Palestinian restaurant, good for a romantic date night or take out. The food is mouthwatering, including all of the grilled meat and chicken dishes. But something that might otherwise be overlooked on their menu is the falafel. It is the best falafel I've had in this country (my family is from the Middle East, and I lived there for some time). Do not miss a chance to try this falafel. (I've attached a picture of a box of falafel we ordered to go to have a picnic at home with George's hummus and our own fixings, but we have also ordered a plate of veggies from George on another occasion). George and his wife run a tight ship, so the service is good and the food is quality. The place is small and a bit cramped. On a weekend, you will probably have to wait for a table. That just shows you their food is good enough to lure Seattle diners from some of the hipper restaurants du jour in the area. George's is a jewel in the crown of the Phinney/Greenwood culinary scene. Highly recommended.

Ramon E.

Yelp
This is some of the best Mediterranean food I had in the Greater Seattle area. If you are hungry it is a great place to stop by and eat. If you have small parties to bigger idea groups this is the best place to stop by and eat.

Tammy E.

Yelp
What a lovely restaurant owned and operated by the sweetest couple with the most adorable children (and another on the way!) We came here for dinner before seeing a play at the Taproot Theatre down the street in Greenwood as it had been on my bookmarks list. From the moment we arrived until we left we felt like we were welcomed into the family of the restaurant and it was like having a meal at home in a delightful space full of light, fresh air, and a most wonderful citrus infused water at the table. Between the two of us we had the Greek salad - delicious and enough for two of us at the restaurant and two of us to have leftovers for lunch the next day! Next we had the falafel and lamb with hummus. Everything we tasted was pure perfection. This certainly is a gem and I know I'll be back for more in the future!

Mary C.

Yelp
We were in town for my son's graduation at UW. We wanted to do a casual dinner at our Airbnb to celebrate, so we ordered family style trays from Gorgeous George's. The food was fantastic and abundant! We ate for days! The lamb was probably the biggest hit, but all the food was delicious.

John K.

Yelp
I heard this place was good, but I didn't expect it to be incredible. Everything was so delicious. The meats, vegetables, and tzatziki were the stars of the show. Wow. They were cooked and spiced perfectly. The hummus was great. The baklava was moist and full of spice, but not too sweet. The rice was flavorful, but it wasn't my favorite. The salad was good, but the dressing needed a little more lemon juice to thin it out and balance out the sweetness. The people running the restaurant were very sweet and friendly.

Kamrin P.

Yelp
This place is a total knock out! Such a hidden gem & a must try place. The food is so delicious & the atmosphere is very cute & cozy. It's a small tucked away restaurant so I recommend placing a reservation beforehand because they can get pretty busy!

Jaclyn F.

Yelp
Gorgeous George's has been on my list of restaurants to try for awhile and I'm so happy that I finally went. We purposely went on a Friday so that we could have George's Chicken and it was delicious. The meat fell off the bone and was wonderfully seasoned. We also ordered the Nazareth Appetizers and the Fried Cauliflower appetizer. Of all the mezze, our favorite was the falafel. It was perfectly fried, very flavorful, and not the least but dry. The cauliflower was a bit of a disappointment. While still decent, it didn't meet my expectations and was a bit over fried. We ended the meal with baklava, which also wasn't the best. It was a bit on the dry side. I do plan on returning to Gorgeous George's and ordering more falafel.

Marie B.

Yelp
Ate at Gorgeous George eons ago when it first opened and definitely pre Yelp. I remember the welcoming warmth of the chef/owner. He was also wearing an actual toque. I drive past this restaurant often as I like the North Seattle Broadview-Greenwood-Phinney Ridge corridor. It is small, but often full. Finally, I returned for mostly a solo dinner on 12/6/17. Traffic and street parking were a test in patience, but got a corner 2 top by the windows. (Sit elsewhere during winter or dress in layers) My dining companion was severely delayed, so I decided to proceed with my order. The water served was interesting a variety of citrus, pineapple, and mint. I had a cup of the lentil soup, followed by the Shish Tawouk platter ($20, grilled chicken, veg, rice, garlic and tzaziki sauces). Flavorful, but the iteration from Petra in Belltown has a edge slight for me. For dessert I opted on the Tiramisu topped with pistachios ($8) and an espresso shot ($3.25). These were suitable alternates since that evening there was no baklava or the ability to make a mocha. By then, my former pastry school classmate showed up. We chatted and shared dessert while he awaited his takeout order. A neighboring table were clearly regulars. Suddenly, the background music switched to a celebratory tune where a dessert with candle was brought out to their table. The chef also appeared dancing with a balanced wine bottle on his head. Wow, that was totally unexpected! Here's are reason why a smallish neighborhood spot like Gorgeous George has lasted for years...consistent service, tasty cuisine, and welcoming atmosphere.

Yelp
I am so grateful to George and Rula for their kindness Several months ago they gifted me a bottle of wine. The gesture was so kind and sweet even during the quarantine it was my wish to have their food With the stay at home order we have not been able to leave our house since we live 45 minutes away My husband made Zaatar salmon, cardamom rice and fatoosh Salad for us, I was finally able to enjoy that bottle of wine you gave us, thank you for your kindness , love and hospitality . We can't wait to visit your restaurant after this order is lifted. The red wine was incredible , god bless your restaurant and your wonderful family . Lots of love from our family to you, stay healthy George and Rula.

Kir S.

Yelp
Best hummus in Seattle - delicious - bathed in olive oil with a healthy dash of sumac powder and za'atar. Portions are crazy generous -- any of the kebab and platters are so yummy. The Bethlehem salad--so delicious-- garlic basil heaven with all of the classic ingredients of a Mediterranean salad: grape tomatoes, cucumber, red onion and occasionally olives. George and his family are incredibly kind and sweet to customers. While I am not religious - I do soak in the "god bless" farewell every time - and feel better for the benediction. Did I mention the falafel? So crispy, with just the right amount of garbanzo-ness. Delicious sandwiched between a pita with some hummus and the heavenly pickled veggies - with a healthy slather of tahini sauce. Go. Soon. Go. Often.

Linnea K.

Yelp
This place is simply incredible! I'm so sad I didn't know about it sooner. The owners were so friendly and the food was ready really quick! You get big servings of amazingly delicious food. I was blown away! My mom is obsessed with the garlic sauce and dolmades, and I simply couldn't choose a favorite (it was all SO good!) Definitely check this place out if you want something that tastes phenomenal, and is made authentically and with tons of heart.

Kendra R.

Yelp
Favorite Greek restaurant in Greenwood! Great food, huge portions, and amazing family. We ordered a Gyro Plate with a side of Hummus and we will easily have leftovers for dinner tomorrow night.

Jillian E.

Yelp
The babaganoush is delicious served with warm pita. Good wine selection, enjoyed the Pinot noir. Love the lamb dishes! Most recently had the lamb shawarma and it was wonderful quality meat and flavors. Good portions, recommend splitting a few dishes. The Kafta was good but had some dryness to it. Very friendly and attentive staff in a cozy atmosphere

Jen L.

Yelp
We were absolutely blown away by the incredible food and hospitality of Gorgeous George's Mediterranean Kitchen! As others mentioned, best hummus in Seattle (maybe the best we've ever eaten). The salmon, roasted veggies, Nazareth appetizer platter, and Cornish hen were all 10/10. To top it all off we had help from a family member in the restaurant taking our food across the street. What generosity! Oh, and we can't forget the baklava! Delish. We're now adding this to our short list of favorite regular haunts and can't wait to be back. Can't recommend this place enough!!

Alden C.

Yelp
What a great spot ! I had Gorgeous George's on my "to try" list and we were very close to it and in the neighborhood. We don't have Mediterranean nearly enough so it definitely sounded great. I had the gyro plate here which is my favorite Greek dish. The meat was absolutely fantastic and the salad that came with my meal was extremely fresh and a real joy to eat. Like many of our visits to Greek or Mediterranean restaurants it isn't unusual to have leftovers which was precisely the case here. We also got an order of baklava for later... which also proved to be wonderful. The service here was very good... they checked in on us frequently and got our food to us in a very efficient manner. Really a great place to dine at. Highly recommend!

Coraly M.

Yelp
Best Mediterranean food EVER. Just go and thank me later! We got the chicken, Greek salad, hummus, grapes leaves, and falafel. Don't forget to get the pita bread too!
