A Sunday hotpot buffet at $18.90++ with a 4.4-star Google rating felt almost too good to be true, so I went in a little sceptical about the food quality and variety. Made a 1pm reservation, and when I arrived, the place was packed—even with a booking - I still had to wait about 5 minutes for a table.
Each table could pick two soup bases from a selection of four or five. We went with ginseng, and it was surprisingly good—fragrant and full of flavour. The food spread wasn’t huge, but what they had was decent in quality. The meats were the usual mass-market, probably frozen stuff, but fair for the price. What really stood out was the cooked food section—way better than expected. Bonus points: soft drinks were included.
The place started to quiet down by around 1:35pm. I noticed someone holding up a Vietnamese flag and going around to a few tables—looked like a tour group. Once the crowd thinned, the refill rate for the food slowed down, too. One thing to note: university students are charged student pricing.
All in all, the place delivers above its price point. Just don’t walk in expecting premium fare, and you’ll leave happy.
