Gossip Grill

Stumbled upon this place it was so beautiful and nice!! The bartender was helpful explaining the happy hour menu. Drinks were good we had mimosas and beer, wish I would’ve tried their cocktails but definitely will next time. Food was amazing and was really fresh, can’t wait to come back!!

Was visiting from New York and we went here twice, once for brunch and once for happy hour and drinks. Very nice atmosphere and the swing chairs around the fire pit were a nice touch. The food at brunch was delicious and they had an Easter egg hunt because we were there for Easter. The staff and bartenders were very friendly and helpful telling us about the local area since we were from our or state and it was our first time visiting. Would absolutely return if I was in the area again!

Love this place. Our server had us laughing all evening. The food was great, I loved the shrimp and grits, The vibe and decor of this place is so cute!!! I will definitely be back.

My wife, daughter, and I are visiting from the East Coast. I located Gossip Grill from an online search. There are two sides to the Grill as well as an outdoor seating area. One side it great for socializing and the other side has a dance floor. The atmosphere for Lesbians is a safe friendly atmosphere. Last night from 6pm until 10pm was for age 40+ which had a good mixture of women and a few men. The music from the DJ was decent but a few songs caused just standing on the dance floor. The next DJ came in at 10pm and she was amazing. After 10pm the younger crowd came in and after a few great songs, it was time for me to go. If you’re ever in the San Diego area, this is a must visit.

I had spam musubi benny. Absolute favorite breakfast I've had in a long time. The poached eggs were phenomenal. Hollandaise sauce possibly could have used a little more seasoning but overall those eggs benedict were to die for. Atmosphere was great, especially with it being Pride month. Service was on point. Thank you for the best meal of the week so far! 🏳️‍🌈

The girl at the door was nice. There are two bars. My friend that goes all the time warned me that the bar on the side of dancefloor has really poor service. We tried going to the dance floor side, they don't make eye contact..they look pissed off. Not the vibe. We went to the other side and they were wonderful. I got a spicy margarita slushy. It was amazing. It's unfortunate that one side really brings the customer service while the other doesn't. Overall great time.

Look at the menu alone. Such fun play in drinks and bites. Great vibes all around. Service- everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful. Shoutout to Aubrey who took great care of us. Security- very intentional About creating a safe space for lgbtqia women. Taking Live Photos to make sure everyone acts right. Food/drinks- we got chicken tenders and fries and fish tacos. Well seasoned and good portion size. Drinks were pretty standard. Specials- I went on a Thursday and drinks were $4. What a great deal. Space- love the outdoor and indoor space. Nice amount of room for sitting and eating, dancing, or hanging around. Comedy- got to join got their inaugural comedy show. It was hysterical. $15 plus $20 food/ drinks.

I loved it here! Friendly and safe atmosphere. The staff was very kind and welcoming! Karaoke was fun even though I didn't participate 🤗

I didn't get to stay long (out of towner) but I got there right before it got poppin and I had a great time, the music was fly & fire and had me on the dance floor fosho! most importantly it felt so safe to be here, I really appreciate that as I am not regularly in a place with likeminded souls. I'll be back Mai Thai was yummy restrooms don't have many stalls as night went on that line was impossible , what can ya do tho.

I wanted to check this place out specifically to order one of their funky-named cocktails, lol. Ended up getting a virgin instead, the Part Time Lover. Surprisingly, I didn't miss the alcohol. The Tomato Basil Soup with Foccasia Grilled Cheese was just okay. The soup was pretty damn salty, and my motto is "don't waste," but I kind of had to waste this time. =/ I shared it with my friend and we both thought the soup was too salty. The Foccasia Grilled Cheese wasn't the greatest either, but it wasn't bad. We came at a good time before the night crowd rolled in and it got busy. We ordered our food at the bar, then moved to one of the open tables in the back near the restrooms. They have nightly specials and shows, so be sure to check their website or call ahead to see if there is a cover charge. Usually there is one if you watch a show inside. The quirky menu will bring me back, and next time I'll order something else.. like maybe the Pussy Punch, Nip Slip or Camel Toe Mojito?! Lol Their menu is hilarious and definitely makes for an interesting dining experience! Heads up! They only allow clear bags on weekends (Friday - Sunday). I'm not sure if that's all the time or of it was just during Pride Month when we went. Anyway, have fun!

Very nice atmosphere. The food took a little long to get there Food was very good. I didn't know they did shows every other Sunday but I plan on coming to one of the shows soon.

DJ was lit! She played so many of my jams, and I had a great time dancing and watching other patrons dancing. My server was on it, getting to us quickly after we were seated, bringing out food and drinks, and was all around very hospitable. The food and drinks we ordered were good, and the bartender definitely gave a generous pour!

Every time I'm in San Diego with my girl, we come here. It's always a good time, we either hang out on the swings or the tables by where the dj plays. I love the atmosphere. Definitely gotta come here on karaoke night which I think is on Thursdays? I'm too shy to get out there and sing, but it seems San Diego has some pretty good talent out there.

Great food great drinks especially their naked chicken wings, that's my favorite to pair with hummus and veggies sticks, then happy hours drinks. Located in Hill Crest, expect to have less street parking, might have to park far and walk, pay attention on the signs because they do ticket your car. Customer service was meh btw. Try to go on event nights, they have karaoke nights, LGBT events and some charity fund raising events as well

I can't rave enough about Frieda at Gossip Grill! She's the heart and soul of this place, and the reason I keep coming back for more. Every visit, she greets me with a warm smile and whips up the most incredible cocktails with a side of sass and charm. Frieda's mixology skills are unmatched, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome is simply amazing. My friend and I wandered in here during the Summer and we were blown away by their Snowpocalypse setup. As a straight girl ally who is down with the neon rainbows and all things lovely, welcoming, and flamboyantly expressed... I was so gay to be here. The menu is simple but full of comfort food. My friend and I shared Buffalo wings and a Caesar salad--both were standard in quantity and quality. However, the food isn't the focal point of the experience. If you go to Gossip Grill, you're going for what the venue has to offer. Complaining about the food here is like complaining about the paint when you're on a cruise to Bora Bora. You're totally missing the point. Besides, the drinks are always stiff and the music is always turnt to energize a crowd. Even your snobby punky elitist friend *ahem* like me will get a groove on. Come get a drink and a bite before you hop to the next joint! And depending on what day of the year it is, this may be your main attraction. I've seen some wild and fun nights go down here on my friends' IG stories.

I'm here pretty often, and I enjoy the atmosphere and the community. I was there recently on Halloween 2024, but after having a few drinks, some guy comes up and tells me to leave. Upon further inquiry with the hostess, he was the manager, and he believed I was overserved. I asked him specifically what I had done to bother anyone and I did not receive an answer at which point I offered to stop drinking for the evening, but I was enjoying time with my friends. I was again told that I was "too fucked up" to be here. After a bit more back-and-forth, I did ask them to at least close my tab so I could go. I don't think I was doing anything to warrant that level of hostility, and he could have at least introduced himself. My other experiences at this place have been very positive. Perhaps it was a busy evening and he was stressed, but I am really surprised at this interaction given the in general. I find this place pretty nice. For a bar, the food is very good, though I do wish they had celiac safe options for a friend I often go with.

This place is always a grey time! We go here at least twice a month if not more bc we feel safe, we have fun, and we can afford it! the food is great and drinks are affordable! The pussy punch is a great way to start of the night with people from the best community in the world! Thanks for keeping the lesbian bars alive for generations to come!!!

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at this bar. After spending over $100 on food and drinks, I was treated poorly and wrongfully accused. Out of nowhere, the head of security aggressively grabbed my bag and threw me out, claiming I had a bottle, without giving me a chance to explain--leaving me feeling humiliated. My girlfriend remained inside, and I repeatedly asked the staff to stop serving her alcohol as she would be driving. They ignored my requests, and tragically, she ended up in a serious car accident shortly after leaving, which could have risked her life and others. The security guard's behavior was not only unprofessional but outright dangerous. I recently returned to the bar, only for him to deny me entry again, falsely claiming I'd threatened him. This guard should be removed immediately--he poses a clear risk to customer safety and decency. I'm seriously considering legal action against this establishment for their reckless negligence and abusive treatment of paying customers. I will not be returning.

Gossip Grill absolutely owns my heart! My favorite Saturdays always start with trivia hosted by Cody and the wonderful staff. My partner rarely has weekends off so it's always so special when we can attend their brunch. They have an amazing menu and champagne specials that I always look forward to. I typically always order the chicken fried steak which is so delicious and filling as well as the champagne bucket to share. My partner loves their breakfast sandwiches and their specialty coffees. We love to get a group together to attend especially if it's their first time. The "let's make a deal" round is my favorite, you get extra bonus points if you have random items on you or a photo featuring something special. It's always the highlight!

Security ended up throwing me on the ground out front and left marks on my arm. Manager was standing beside her and did nothing to rectify the situation. Both need to be reprimanded and replaced immediately. Luckily, I had proof.

Came for happy hour on Monday. We enjoyed the food we ordered and the drinks. I also appreciated the numerous mocktails they had available to choose from. We sat at the bar and enjoyed speaking with the staff. I liked that it was much less busy than their normal crowdedness and look forward to returning again

Came here for the cabaret drag brunch, this place was running like a well oiled machine. Was happy to see the reserved table with my name on it with clappers for us. The food was solid breakfast choices and the mimosa bucket was perfect to keep me lived up during the performances. Loved the vibes here and the drag queens were fantastic, I immediately felt excited and welcome here, which is such a great change to normal gay bars. Loved my experience here!

One of the few sapphic bars left in the US. I always take my friends here when they visit from out of town and I'd like to say I've become a sorta regular? They throw lots of events and are a staple of Hillcrest, especially bc I feel like the rest of HC is predominantly catered to our brothers. Shoutouts to Dwayne with the amazing decorations and the way he's always looking out for us is Frieda and Justin serving up drinks and Robin who always gives me the chuckles, honestly the whole crew is pretty clutch. Also we love DJ Smooth! Definitely recommend all sapphics and friends stop in here!

I really truly wish that they had a bar like this in the Los Angeles area! This is like my favorite bar and I'm happy to drive over there for their awesome theme nights, brunches, and dance NIGHTS! Their service and food is amazing! Bartenders make excellent drinks. Everyone is super respectful. Thank you Gossip Grill and Dwayne for providing a safe and fun haven!

My first time at this place in years, i used to come all the time, never a complained, this time is different, I asked for water and the give me a bottle water, they 4 dlls for a generic .50c bottle water, they didn't offer or mentioned that they have other kind, they were found out they have a table with water where you can serve yourself .

!!!!ZERO STARS!!!!! 7/13/2024 - Bar hopping while on vacation with my friends and we decided to come to this place. I was having a great time until one of the security guards escorting an employee with a bucket of dishes was on a power trip and shoved me so hard that I almost fell over and yelled at me to "get the f*** out of the way." Mind you the place was so tightly packed that there was no where for anyone to move to. I will not be supporting this establishment if they have employees who treat paying customers like that.

We have liked this bar the few times we have been, but tonight was pretty uncomfortable. Not sure what the catalyst was, but my girlfriend was kicked out for being too drunk/stumbling. I know when my girlfriend is too drunk and she simply was not at the level she was accused of. She was wearing tall heels and had blisters, which is why she was walking funny. Even though I disagreed with this decision, we went along with it to avoid conflict, as it was late in the night. After we walked out voluntarily, I went back to tell them that we found her "lost" purse, which they were looking for. Before I could even explain to them that they didn't need to keep looking for it, I was told I was "chaotic" and that I needed to leave. I had only had a few and was pretty offended. I was being very articulate and the bouncers just wrote us off. Next time I'll just let you waste your time looking for a purse that isn't there. Not coming back to this judgmental and unfriendly place.

Joey our server is an OG team member at Gossip. We love you Joey! So good to see everyone else as well. Joey is attentive, kind and has the best smile around. He's worth waiting to be sat for. I made a reservation for 12:30 and we were running 15 minutes behind. The host who answered the phone was courteous and professional. She updated my reservation for 12:45 and when I arrived I was greeted with a smile. I love Gossips security, they always make me feel safe and supported. We loved their brunch menu! Chicken and waffles was crispy and delicious. Perfect portion size for the price. I ordered the burrata salad and it was divine! I also had the mango habanero wings. I like the way the serve them now, they used to be in a basket! They're served on a plate now and I love that I can see them better! The home made ranch is out of this world. I could drink it. Lol. We had French toast and fruit. Fluffy and delicious, like me. I ordered an Aperol Sprits we tried their new mango honey pot slush. So spicy and delicious! We love you Mo, thanks to you and your staff for always making me feel seen and safe in the best lesbian bar in America. Loved the summer decorations!

Very Bad very discriminating place -- avoid at all cost!! Its raining tonight and a rude front desk lady wants us to wait under the rain in an empty establishment (yes they have barely anyone inside).. we're visiting from Chicago and instinctively we stopped inside the covered roof and we politely asked if we can wait under the shade so the rain wont get us wet... she said NO WAIT OUTSIDE AND LET ME TAKE MY TIME ID'ING YOU GUYS UNDER THE RAIN ..and she even said "i dont want to "f-word" deal with this". Very rude and cringey. They never apologized and let us just leave. I hope the owner of this place fire those two people (bad for their business)

Drinks are so very weak. What a rip off. I'll not drink there again But on a better note Food was Good was good.atmosphere was awesome and place had beautiful people!

I'm handicapped and in an oversized wheelchair. I'm always worried how I'll fit and if I can get through doorways. I scoured photos and decided to give it a go for a family birthday night and called in. The staff was super accommodating, kind, and even let me bring cupcakes! It was karaoke night and the vibe was super friendly and chill. They made the perfect spot for me and all our guests. They made me feel at home if that makes sense. Also, the food was delicious!!!

My wife and I ordered the fish & Chips -- on a scale of 1-10 I give the meal an 8. The fries were ok and the fish was good a bit to much batter but good. The disappointment came when there was NO MALT VINEGAR added to our condiments ketchup & tarter sauce. The music and Vibe were on point !

This place is always so LIT on the weekends! The dance floor always gets so packed. It's a bit tight but everyone on the floor is always so friendly and energetic! I've never had a negative experience here. On the weekdays I will some times go for happy hour and they will give you tokens when you pay so you can get free drinks the next time you come back during happy hour. Their signature Blackout lemonade is so dangerously good, it is a very sweet alcoholic slushy. The whole staff is fantastic and the bartenders are very generous when they pour. The only down side was the limited seating and long bathroom lines.

Been wanting to come to this location for a while! The atmosphere is a lot of fun, DJ spinning, lights, space heaters and our server Aubrey was an absolute gem. Not just because of her attentiveness but how welcoming she made our group feel, felt like catching up with a friend we've known for years and she really made our night. Food is anything you would expect from a usual spot known for mostly being a bar but there are plenty of surrounding businesses if you need something more. Parking is next to none but we found a spot behind the establishment and it was within walking distance. We'll be back with more friends and celebrations. Ambience of the place was phenomenal!! I mean this place looked wonderful staff was soo great and helpful food and drinks were amazinggg!! Definitely going back 10/10 recommend!

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! All the staff are always so nice and friendly, and I always feel very included and welcomed. This is one of my favorite LGBTQ+ inclusive bars here in San Diego. Although the space is small, it's still a great time as they have three distinct sections: the smoke area, the dance/karaoke area inside, and the main area where you first walk in where you can sit down and eat. The menu is pretty good as I've eaten here a few times now, and the wings are very tasty! I love their themed drinks, and my favorite hands-down is pussy punch! I could drink a bunch of them as they taste more fruity than alcoholic. I've been here on Halloween, pride, and karaoke night, and the crowds vary. The biggest crowd is probably for pride, which is pretty obvious why but the crowd for Halloween and karaoke night weren't that bad at all. Do make sure you look up and see if they have said anything on their social media about cover charges for any theme nights that you are interested in.

I already love gossip grill and how great the people are but just found out about their Monday happy hour! They have unlimited spaghetti and meatballs for only $8 and shots for only $5. Not that you need to get wasted on a Monday, BUT the shots were a fun fruity drink to sip. Yes, the pasta is pretty basic and nothing special but this deal is hard to pas on and you can take leftovers home! Out waitress was super cool and hooked it up for us too when we felt we couldn't eat another ounce so she gave us another plate to go. I'd come back with a group and we'd all chill outside on a nice day, with their great playlists they have playing.

Wednesday night is Bingo night. Taylor is always our server. They are always very attentive to us to make sure we always have what we need. Not only that but Taylor always manages to remember everything we order without note taking. It's crazy!! Taylor is the best and a main reason we come to Bingo!!

I had 2 drinks at this establishment. They told me I couldn't come back in because I was swaying.... I was not. But they chose to not let me back in. 1 star. They said they couldn't even let us find our friends phone even though we were clearly not swaying and were not drunk. Do not go here unless you plan to not want a single drink. It is not safe when they do not let a single woman in to get their phone when they need it to Uber home safely.

Thank you Moe and team for building such a safe, inclusive, and fun space! I've been a long time patron to gossip (back to the days at the original location) and I always have the best time. The energy is infectious with great music and several awesome events! I have to give a special shoutout to Freda, Justin, Darcy, and Brittany for your continued dedication to creating a safe and welcoming space. Seeing one (or even better all) of your faces when I walk into Gossip always brings a smile to my face... and then pretty quickly one of my favorite drinks to my hand! haha You all are amazing!! These 4 individuals (and the rest of the staff that I may not have had the pleasure to get to know just yet) really help make Gossip more than just a restaurant / bar; but, a community, a sanctuary, and truly a home away from home. For Dwayne! He's amazing, this bar is fantastic, felt safe the whole time. The bar is great and as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I love having a place to go that is both encouraged by the San Diego gayborhood as well as a fun place overall.

There are plenty of choices when it comes to bars and nightlife in Hillcrest. My go-to spot is always Gossip Grill--it's the bar I feel most comfortable and relaxed to have some drinks with friends and co-workers. Drinks and food are nothing fancy, but you can't beat the outdoor vibes. They have a great happy hour and it's a great location to celebrate a birthday or host a networking event/mixer. Their indoor section does karaoke on Tuesday nights and I know they have scheduled events throughout each month, so I'm sure you'll find the right night to fit your mood!

Not a lesbin bar. Moooost staff is very nice. Alot of major attitude, beyond anything reasonable. We fought very hard to get the rights for what some young ladies flaunt with false ego. With tip you are looking at a 15$ warm beer in plastic mug. If lucky, served by a nice lesbian.

Laid back, hospitable, good food, good drinks and a nice dance floor. Highly recommend to womxn looking for a friendly hangout.

It was nothing but great enjoyed immensely. We have been needing a night out without the kids and this checked all the boxes. There is nothing but positive to say about our evening.

Recently re-visited an old spot I used to be at pretty often, whether it was for brunch or happy hour or for a night venture. It's been a couple of years since I was last here (pre-covid), and it was awesome to see that not much has changed! Still great vibes, good drinks, and a safe space. Came thru with my partner and her coworkers, and we had a great night. The bartenders were chill and fun, our drinks were strong and delicious, and the playlist was great. Some must try drinks would be the blackout lemonade, the boss lady, and the MILF bait. Highly recommend stopping by if you're anywhere in San Diego, it's definitely worth it!

I went here on a Thursday night before a concert. Chill vibes, everyone is doing there own things. $2 flavored shots, we tried Mexican Candy and Peanut butter something. The food was AMAZING! I got the grilled cheese and tomato soup and my friend got grilled pickles. Best grilled cheese and tomato soup I've ever had, and so much food! I was sad I got too full to finish it. I will be returning for the food and ambiance alone. And I'm excited to see what other nightly themes will bring to the establishment. Super cute bar and super cute area. I love how welcoming it is!
