Google
Delicious bagels! The quality is great and everything tastes fresh. The crew is friendly and welcoming, though the seating area is on the smaller side. I do wish the menu was a bit more visible, but once you know what to order, you’re in for a treat. Prices are decent to slightly high, but definitely worth it for what you get. Just remember — this is a bagel place, not a café or full breakfast restaurant, so expectations set the experience. Overall, a fantastic spot for a great bagel fix! 🥯

Google
Awesome staff and cool space. I had the cinnamon and sugar bagel it was phenomenal. Great price as well. Perfect amount of crunch, sweetness and soft portion of the bagel. I couldn't finish it all at once, it was huge. Hours later still tasted the freshness and perfection.

Anna

Google
Bagel taste great. Employees are friendly. However, the wait is Extremely long and very unorganized. You see customers cut your line and order on a tablet on the side. Store will also not let you know you can order both places neither tell you where to pick up.

Kristen

Google
We went on a Friday morning around 10:15am and they were busy! All the tables were packed and there was a line. That being said, the wait was very minimal. They had a good system to get everyone their food very quickly. The bagels were delicious and had a generous helping of cream cheese (our favorite).

MJ K.

Google
Simple bagel with Nox cream cheese — nothing fancy, but the pickles were delicious and the honey lavender coffee was fantastic. Perfect place for a light lunch!

Jeffrey C.

Google
It’s an excellent doughy donut, they have great combination. It’s a hole in the wall so not much space to eat, and staff are in a hurry so not too courteous. But I recommend it nonetheless because it’s a great menu for a quick drop by take out.

Samantha P.

Google
Delicious! The bagel quality was excellent—fresh, chewy, and flavourful. I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese on a cinnamon sugar bagel, and it was a great combo. I went around 7 a.m. and waited about 10 minutes, which wasn’t bad at all. The service was friendly and efficient. It is a tad pricey for the portion size, and the bagel was smaller than expected, but overall, definitely worth the visit.

Google
The food was great but I had to deduct some stars for the experience. I understand its a small place and have to limit how many people can be inside. I was willing to wait in line to order but security insisted I should order online. So I did, ordering a lox sandwich, bees knees coffee and a brown butter chocolatechunk cookie. When I was let in to grab my order the guard tried rushing me out without getting my coffee (which is at the counter, not the order rack) then after leaving I discovered that my order was missing the cookie. I will be back but next time I am ordering in person.

Yelp
The bagels and sandwiches were fantastic quality, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the coffee was great! Highly recommend breakfast here. Great overall vibe inside but very limited seating.

Yelp
Stopped by for a breakfast bagel. Picked up a coffee and pastrami & egg bagel. You can choose your bagel (I got egg everything) and doneness of the fried egg. There was a bit of a line at 8a on a Thursday but orders were taken fairly quickly and sandwiches came out fast. The pastrami was nice and salty, though the bagel was also a bit salty too. It paired nicely with the hard fried egg though so I felt satisfied. The pickle closed it well.

Yelp
Great little bagel place in the middle of the city! Walking in here, I was surprised by the following: Loud music, no available seating, and a long line. This is not a bad thing at all. This tells me that: They like to listen to music while working/eating, people like to stop and eat vs. take food and go, and people really like the bagels here. We ordered some Everything bagels and some Sesame bagels and as a bagel lover, these did not disappoint. I did sneak a view at some individuals actually eating here and the cream cheese to bagel ratio was pretty spot on. I mean, you can always add more schmear, but I was not upset at all. I also like that they have free cups of water too.

Yelp
While Chicago isn't known for its bagels, you can find the exception to the rule at Gotham Bagels. I ordered two Brighton Beach sandwiches. One on a standard everything bagel and one on an egg everything bagel. Both were great, but the egg was by far my favorite. It had enough textural integrity to hold the ingredients, but still soft enough to not ruin your mouth! The quality and freshness of the ingredients provided the perfect breakfast! If you're looking for a good bagel, make sure to stop by Gotham Bagels.

Yelp
Gotham Bagels is such a gem right off the Mag Mile. It's a cute, cozy shop with just enough indoor seating and a super quick in-and-out setup--perfect for busy mornings in the city. They've got a huge lineup of bagel sandwiches, tons of bagel and cream cheese options, and a full range of drinks. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, even when the weekday morning rush hits hard! I ordered the spicy sausage, fried egg, and cheddar on a toasted Asiago bagel with a smear of veggie cream cheese and... WOW. The bagel was perfectly done--crispy and well-toasted on the outside, soft and fluffy inside. The sausage, egg, and cheese combo was phenomenal, and they didn't overdo the cream cheese, which I really appreciated. The size is massive for the price too--total NY-style bagel vibes! Definitely one of my go-to spots when I'm craving a legit bagel in the city. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Stopped by Gotham Bagels after seeing it on my TikTok and really made me hyped. I went for the Lox and Cream Cheese bagel and my girlfriend got the Egg & Bacon sandwich. The staff were super nice and fast, so points for that. But... for the bagel itself? It was just a little dry and kind of bland. It was sad as I really wanted to love this place, but I've had plenty of other Chicago bagels that hit way harder. This was certainly one of those Tik Tok hype vs reality situations and the reality is to skip this place.

Yelp
The only bagel shop we got to try on our trip and I'm glad it was this one! I subbed the bacon for turkey bacon and got a side of cream cheese to add. I really think the cream cheese is what makes this place stand out from other bagel spots I've tried. Fresh, creamy, and flavorful. Also really enjoyed the side of hot sauce they threw in the bag.

Yelp
Very solid bagels at decent prices. This location gets super busy with alm the businesses nearby, so highly recommend ordering online for pick up!
google avatar

Karl K.

Yelp
I was looking for somewhere to grab something quick but good and the reviews on Gotham are good so I gave it a shot. Egg bagel with lox and plain cream cheese. Very good service at the counter and I thoroughly enjoyed this tasty and more healthy breakfast....! There are tables inside and it's a cozy Chicago urban vibe so if you eat it there (I carried out) it's a modest setting.
google avatar

Trisha F.

Yelp
Okay, so the bagel is freaking delicious, but to order this to go and not get a napkin? With all this cream cheese it is beyond criminal to not include a napkin!!! Ahhh
google avatar

Olivia A.

Yelp
I've heard about Gotham Bagels and finally had the opportunity to try it as one of their locations wasn't far from our hotel. We were lucky to have arrived when the line seemed to die down and some seating was available. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and two bagel sandwiches because I couldn't pick between them. Loved the OMFG but definitely felt like my favorite was the Lox bagel with cream cheese. I would 1000% come back again for more of their delicious bagels. The iced latte was decent too! Also honorable mentions to the team working hard to keep bagels coming out. They were busy but never let their stress turn into rudeness. It seems like everyone was working well as a team to get food out as efficiently as possible which was amazing imo. The dining area was small and limited but perfect for eating a bagel

Yelp
A delightful little bagel spot in the heart of the north downtown area in Chicago. I loved in the city for 15 years and had never been here until now. A lot of bagel options and sandwich selections. I got the one egg on and everything and they let me add avocado to it. They make their own hot sauce and dill pickles. They gave us a sample of each with our bagels. Hot sauce was perfect for my bagel but the dill pickles it was so vinegary it was a bit jolting.
google avatar

Tyler C.

Yelp
Chicago does cream cheese well. Put it on a toasted bagel and the world is a better place. Great breakfasts! Comfortable and clean tables. Always a line when I walk past so I skipped it a few mornings but the wait is short. Coffee was just right.
google avatar

Mayuri A.

Yelp
We were craving breakfast bagels and decided to go to Gotham for some. In entering, there was a huge line inside but it was fast moving. We ordered the Asiago bagel with scallion cream cheese and the everything bagel with scrambled eggs. We ordered was called out pretty fast. There's a bit of seating the restaurant but it gets full quickly. Most people come here for grab and go orders. The bagels were scrumptious!!!! They come packed with schmear and the schmear is very creamy too. The egg bagel sandwich was very yummy too. I will be back.
google avatar

Morgan H.

Yelp
A solid bagel place to start your day. I went with the simple Bacon, Egg and Cheese and they did it right. Served on your choice of bagel, I selected the asiago. They offer plenty of sandwich variations as well as coffee. The bagel was delightful and I enjoyed it as a quick meal.
google avatar

Yelp
I visited this Gotham location often when my husband was at NM Hospital for longterm medical treatment (he's doing well now). Bagels and veggie cream cheese to-go were always my go-to! On the plus side, their bagels are huge and depending on what flavor is ordered they are LOADED with poppy or sesame seeds. The veggie cream cheese is really tasty. On the negative side, they keep the bagels in the back, so you have to wait in line behind sandwich orders. And on one take-out order, they gave me regular instead of the veggie cream cheese that I ordered and paid for. But it's great place and conveniently located near Streeterville and NM.
google avatar

Meghan C.

Yelp
Worth the line! Really great bagels! We had the lox sandwich, cream cheese, and the bacon egg and cheese sandwich, which came with a house hot sauce. It was tasty and not too spicy. The cream cheese is loaded! Also the coffees were tasty! We were able to grab a table inside but the place is small so if a chair opens up grab it! We'll be back, Gotham!
google avatar

Vaishnavi W.

Yelp
A whole in the wall kinda place with New York inspired bagels. The Avocado Bagel was really delicious and so was the Brighton Beach Bagel. The price was a bit on the higher side for a bagel, but the taste and portion size was amazing. If you're from NY and miss a NY style bagel, I think this would be a good choice to visit. The service was good too.
google avatar

Brie G.

Yelp
Staff was super kind, especially considering it was my first time there. They guided me through the drink options I was considering and asked clarifying questions which I appreciated. The bagel sandwich I ordered (spicy sausage) was really good and just spicy enough. I had a caramel apple butter iced oatmilk latte which was spectacular! The small space was just big enough for those of us dining in. Only downside is the price, but it's fine once you know. I'll be back!
google avatar

Hannah F.

Yelp
Cute little bagel shop with great food. Felt very similar to bagels I've had in New York. They also make a good cappuccino!
google avatar

Parnika N.

Yelp
Gotham Bagel was my first choice for breakfast. It was located right off the Magnificent Mile, quite close to my hotel. The bagel shop is very small with limited seating, so I decided to get breakfast on the go. The staff is friendly and patient, and the service was quick despite being extremely busy! I am obsessed with bagels, but I have the appetite of a bird. So, I chose an Asiago bagel with chive cream cheese, while my husband got the same with lox. I devoured the bagel. It was just as it should be: dense and chewy with a generous amount of cream cheese. I had no complaints. However, I have had equally good bagels before, and considering the cost, they were a bit steep.
google avatar

Shelby S.

Yelp
This might be the best bagel I have ever had. I was visiting Chicago and discovered Gotham Bagels when searching for a breakfast spot one morning. I wish they had a jalapeño cheddar bagel option, as that's usually my go-to. I opted for an everything bagel instead and ordered a bacon, egg, and cheddar sandwich with scallion cream cheese- delicious! I never wanted it to end. Even others in my party were raving about their bagels. The amount of cream cheese they use is so good. The store was so busy with customers coming in and out on the Tuesday morning I was there. There isn't a ton of seating, so be prepared to potentially have to take your food to go. It did get a bit warm while we were enjoying our meal, so I wish they had better air conditioning.
google avatar

Julie M.

Yelp
Gotham Bagels was a great find just off the Mag Mile, right next door to our hotel. Tons of choices for bagels and shmears! I ordered a toasted onion bagel (scooped) with scallion cream cheese--super fresh, perfectly chewy, cut in half wrapped in paper and a solid portion. Easy to eat in the car. The iced cold brew had a chocolatey taste and was a surprise hit--smooth and hit the spot. There was a bit of a line, but it moved fast and the staff kept things friendly and efficient. Great spot for a quick, tasty and satisfying breakfast to go near downtown. There are tables if you'd prefer to sit and eat. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
google avatar

Joseph S.

Yelp
This place wasn't too far from our hotel and caught it walking by late last night and was curious for their breakfast bagels. I got a regular with egg and bacon and it was delicious. I don't drink coffee so I couldn't tell you about their drinks, but the bagels were great!
google avatar

Kyle V.

Yelp
Great shop to grab breakfast on the go. We ordered a bunch of sandwiches before we went to the aquarium and it was perfect. The staff was busy and still took great care of everyone. The menu has tons of options and even though the baskets were pretty empty, they still had everything we asked for in the back. The food took about 10 minutes or less and we were on our way. The only complaint was that they still gave us pickles with breakfast and they soaked through our bags we were carrying to the aquarium and one bag ended up ripping and we lost a few bagels on the ground. I think they should ask if people even want the pickles. They have indoor seating but it's very crowded and the line was basically to the door. They had a large shelf full of pickup orders as well. You can buy their cream cheese and bagel chips as well. We will definitely remember this spot for the future.
google avatar

Rebecca Q.

Yelp
Great cheesy Asiago bagel sandwich with good portions. Matcha was not very good but staff was relatively quick given how crowded it was!
google avatar

Lucinda R.

Yelp
Amazing bags and latte's. The food was so good we had to go back the next day. Their was a steady line if customers each day but they're not worth the weight.
google avatar

Tiffany P.

Yelp
Tried two different bagels on two different days and ordered the Brighton Beach twice! That's how good it was, my mouth is watering thinking about it! The drinks and the Spicy Sausage Breakfast Sandwich were underwhelming but still good. Food - Brighton Beach Bagel Sandwich - Spicy Sausage Egg and Cheddar Breakfast Sandwich Drinks - Matcha Lemonade - Cold Brew

Yelp
Lately, I've been on a mini bagel tour around Chicago, trying to find something that comes close to the East Coast bagels I grew up with in Jersey. I stopped into Gotham Bagels on my lunch break today--just before closing--and they still had all the good bagels in stock. I noticed their menu had an impressive selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, so I decided to try one. I went with the OMFG--a classic bacon, egg, and cheese with a chicken cutlet and spicy aioli on an everything bagel. It was seriously delicious, and the bagel itself was solid! The sandwich also came with a pickle that was surprisingly unique and really good. There was plenty of seating inside, making it a great spot to sit and enjoy a bagel. The staff was super friendly, helpful, and gave great recommendations. I also grabbed a cold brew, which was strong and had me buzzing--just what I needed for an afternoon pick-me-up. To take home, I got an everything egg bagel with chive cream cheese, which was excellent, and I also tried their Asiago bagel, which I absolutely loved. Overall, Gotham Bagels is easily in my top two bagel spots in Chicago--one of the closest to an authentic East Coast bagel experience. Highly recommend stopping by, especially for the Asiago bagel and the OMFG and the cold brew!
google avatar

Kamilla J.

Yelp
I had to convince myself to finish my meal by telling myself, "it could always be worse." First of all, why was my bagel cold and hard? That alone was off-putting. On top of that, the hot sauce had no heat. It was bland and disappointing. I loved the staff, they were very sweet! Overall, not a good experience. I won't be returning, and I don't recommend this place.
google avatar

Vanessa H.

Yelp
OMG! Amazing bagels and cream cheese!!! I literally crave them on occasion. These bagels are massive with a hefty amount of cream cheese.
google avatar

Reagan P.

Yelp
Gotham is a staple in my household! The bagels are by far the best in the city and their drinks are good, especially compared to other places with bagel sandwiches. All of their locations are always pretty busy but the service is organized and the employees are on top of everything. Two recommendations: 1- order online! They are super busy so this cuts down on the wait time. 2- plan to take the food to go, they have limited seating and we typically don't find an open table
google avatar

Hope L.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite bagel places ever! The line was about 10 minutes on a Saturday afternoon and i ordered the tuna salad and a whole wheat bagel with strawberry cream cheese and an egg. The food came out within 10 minutes and was packaged well. The bagel was delicious as it was packed with cream cheese and the bagel was perfectly chewy. The egg was also cooked well and the tuna salad was tasty as well! I just wish the tuna salad had more toppings as it was a bit bland as I could only taste the tuna.

Adam L.

Yelp
Told me five minutes; it took 15 minutes. Gave me the wrong drink. No napkins included. I will not be back!
google avatar

Rose P.

Yelp
While I enjoyed their bagel sandwiches and their Bees Knees coffee- it's definitely a pricey meal. Their bagel sandwiches are amazing and they are generously filled. I tried the Rocky's Deli and the Yellow CAB. And both sandwiches had so much flavor to them. The Rocky's Deli and a fried egg, bacon, potato latke, and spicy ketchup- which I left out. The Yellow CAB had cheddar, avocado, bacon, arugula, and mayo. I left the mayo out and added an egg as suggested by someone - and I'm glad I added the egg. The Bees Knees- was lavender honey espresso and milk. Anything with lavender usually wins me over and as pricey as Gotham was, the Bees Knees was exactly what I needed after sleepless nights staying in the hospital. I placed both orders online- which was simple to do, and I loved how everything was ready for pick up as soon as I got there...

Yelp
I've wanted to stop into Gotham Bagels, but always stopped myself when I saw the line. However, It seems like regardless of the day, they're going to be busy and the only way to beat the rush is by coming super early right when they open, and even then you may still be waiting! Despite them being so busy, they're definitely worth the wait. Both badges I got were really tasty! I ordered the the V on a Asiago bagel and the OMFG on an everything bagel. It was a massive amount of cream cheese on both bagels, but I absolutely loved it. They are on the pricey side but well worth stopping in to try when you can to get some these super stacked bagels!
google avatar

Yelp
You know when you are just craving a B.E.C? Like nothing else will do? Gotham Bagels will do the trick, but not much more. Was it better than Corey's Bagel Deli? Yes. Do their bagels compare to New York? Absolutely not. Is it overpriced? Very much so. But Chicago is not your city for bagels, so again, it will do! I think I paid almost $13 without tax/tip for my bacon, egg and cheddar on an everything. The bagel itself was okay, had a good crust, but not as dense as I would have liked in the middle. The egg and cheese were both solid, but the bacon was lacking. Maybe a thin piece and a half or so on the sandwich when the menu listed "thick cut bacon," so I felt slightly gipped. I will say, I have only tried one other bagel spot in Chicago, and Gotham did have far superior bagels. It feels unfair rating them 3/5, but if you are claiming "New York Bagels and Eats" then I feel like your product should somewhat try and live up to the name. I think a Bruegger's Bagels in Minnesota has the exact same sandwich...for half the price.
google avatar

Karolina J.

Yelp
My son had a 2 day stay at Lurie so we grabbed bagels from here a few times. Their bagels and sandwiches' are really good here, with the bagels being pretty up there for me in terms of other places in the city. They have a good selection of flavors with the Asiago being my favorite. The only thing I didn't enjoy was that they put wayyyy too much cream cheese on my bagel, but that's always easy to take off a bit. They definitely come fully loaded.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
Ordered bacon, egg and cheese on an everything egg bagel. The egg was fine, there was a healthy amount of bacon, but the bagel was average. The $15 price was outrageous for the value. This is a $10 sandwich at best.
google avatar

Jade D.

Yelp
We stopped by Gotham after a workout class in the morning and it was just what we were looking for! We got a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese as well as a cream cheese and Lox. The scallion cream cheese went so well with the Lox, would highly recommend. I will say the bagels were a little over toasted for me, it was hard to chew and not as soft as I'd like, but the flavors were there! The service was fast and we'll definitely come back to try again!

Sunshine W.

Yelp
Excellent bagels and cream cheese mixes. The size of the bagels is awesome and they do not scrimp on the portion. I prefer to get more than I may need as opposed to a serving size that you can't taste. The counter help was friendly, expedient and helpful. I will definitely be back for tomorrow's breakfast.

Cindy V.

Yelp
Caution when placing online gift orders! I placed an online order as a gift including gift recipient's delivery address and a gift message. I called the store to make sure this was done properly since none of that info appeared on the confirmation I received. I was told that Gotham Bagels didn't see that info on their order system and that they would place a note on the delivery to make sure it got to the correct person. This didn't happen. Luckily the building doorman called me since my phone number was the only one visible on the delivery. It was 5:30am where I was on the West coast! Not a happy incident. Hopefully Gotham will fix their online order system.
google avatar

Camie T.

Yelp
Cool little stop for a filling breakfast. The staff was friendly and they were working efficiently despite being busy. Large menu of bagels and sandwiches, plus a coffee bar. The prices were a little steep - even for downtown Chicago. The quality and taste was good overall.

Maureen M.

Yelp
The sesame bagel was the best I've had in Chicago in a long time. Fresh, crisp in the outside, pillow soft inside, well browned, not sweet. Service was quick but be aware, the place does not post prices and does not take cash.
google avatar

Claire M.

Yelp
Solid bagel. We went at about 1 when they closed at 2 and they were out of over half their bagel flavors. That forced my to go outside of my normal everything and try something different. I ended up getting the honey one and it was really really good. I got the Brighton beach with smoked salmon on it and was solid. They definitely could've put more salmon on it but that's my main complaint. It definitely is on the pricier side for a bagel shop.
google avatar

Jim B.

Yelp
These are great bagels with some staple options as well as some more creative options. When I went the line was long but the staff was efficient in getting food to customers and were also super friendly, despite a few rude patrons. Four stars for good food and excellent service.
google avatar

Sharai R.

Yelp
Gotham bagels is always a must visit when I go to Chicago. I love their bagels and their bagel sandwiches, especially the yellow C.A.B. w/ egg. It's great you can order online for pickup. I've had a good experience with online orders every time.
google avatar

Nisha C.

Yelp
My friend and I had a craving for a New York style bagel and we were not disappointed. We got the everything bagel with the scallion cream cheese and lox, and it was delicious and they definitely don't skimp on the cream cheese. The service is fast and polite, and I love the deli feel of the place. If you need a decent bagel, Gotham is a great place to try!
google avatar

Hemali S.

Yelp
This spot is amazing. I ran into it one time going into work (Northwestern Medicine) and it had forever changed my bagel experience. No other bagel has currently compared in Chicago for me. My usual order is the sesame bagel and scallion cream cheese - which to die for. I did try the giardinera as well and what a creative idea! Personally I order ahead and when I show up 10 minutes later it is always there ready to go! Their schmear of the cream cheese is also amazing as someone who is not skimping. Thank god I work remotely three times a week otherwise I would be poor from coming here! Also the prices are very reasonable. If you are looking to sit and eat, there are some spots but they do fill up early and quickly!
